Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Inside Wrestling. I am your host Les Thatcher and on tonight’s episode our guest will be the host of Southeastern Championship Wrestling, Mr. Charlie Platt, and we will be discussing one of the hottest months in the promotion’s history. Welcome, Charlie, it’s been awhile since we’ve had you on Inside Wrestling, how’ve you been?
Doing well Les, thanks for having me.
Platt: That’s right Les. I grew up a big Wrestling II fan, and honestly I’m not sure what has gotten into him. The word around Alabama and eastern Mississippi has been bitter. He has even brought in III, whom he says has yet to earn the Mr. Wrestling title, but is well on his way, to do the heavy lifting for him. A big showdown had finally been arranged between II and Tonga Kid in Birmingham, but it was in Dothan at a television taping where III brutally attacked the Tonga Kid, while Johnny Rich and Scott Armstrong his R.A.T. Patrol, Inc. partners were out of town on a promotional tour. II and III used the ringpost to injure TK. Johnny Rich and Scott Armstrong have sworn vengeance on behalf of their partner, and the tag bouts have really been heating up.
Thatcher: From what I understand, the Tonga Kid is close to returning.
Platt: From what I understand he will be ready for action in October.
Thatcher: Well that is certainly great news for the fans of SECW. Now let’s turn our attention to Ron Fuller and his Stud Stable. Mr. Perfect Jerry Stubbs, Jimmy Golden, the SECW Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson and Pat Rose, and the newcomer to the bunch, the very impressive Flame.
Platt: That’s right Les, the Flame is quite the athlete for a man his size, and has been a real tipping point in the Stable’s long running battle with the Armstrong family. Bullet Bob and his son Steve Armstrong, along with ‘The Boss’ Austin Idol have been locked in this bitter feud with the Stable for months now.
Thatcher: Some big matches have been signed between Idol and Golden, and Bob and Steve Armstrong are in line for tag title matches, I understand?
Platt: That is my understanding as well Les. Bob and Steve picked up a non-title victory over the champs in Meridian, MS and have been deemed the #1 Contenders. Just last week we aired a video of a new tag team coming to the area, who have also thrown their names into the SECW Tag Title hat, while their identities remain unknown, they are calling themselves the Midnite Rockers. I still have not received word on an arrival date for the new team.
Thatcher: While we are discussing tag teams, the Southeast has long been known as a hotbed of tag team wrestling, and one of the most entertaining and heated rivalries in recent memory is ongoing.
Platt: That’s right Les. Tim Horner and Brad Armstrong, the Lightning Express have been tearing up SECW for a few months now, and came in at the behest of the Nightmares to assist them in a feud earlier in the Spring. But as the cheers for Brad and Tim began to get louder and louder, the Nightmares jealousy got the better part of them. It was in Montgomery where the Nightmares revealed their true colors laying a brutal beating on Brad and Tim, leaving both men bloody. The Lightning Express have been nipping at their heels, chasing them across the territory, ever since. And Les, I have to tell you, these teams have been putting on some of the most exciting tag matches I can recall ever seeing.
Les: Well said, Charlie, I must agree. I also understand that more new faces are on their way to Alabama.
Charlie: That’s right. A young lady who made quite the name for herself in Texas, known as Sunshine, along with her boys, “Gorgeous” Gary Young and the “Suicide Blonde” Jack Victory, are looking to make a name for theirselves, and are looking right at longtime fan favorite Porkchop Cash and his Alabama Heavyweight Title. Porkchop’s good friend Brickhouse Brown has come in to help him fend off the onslaught. We already discussed The Rockers being on their way as well. The Original Nightmare Ted Allen is returning to the territory after a lengthy absence. The Flame just arrived. Another youngster who recently debuted in SECW is Frankie ‘Thumper’ Lancaster, and has been very impressive. It is shaping up to be a memorable fall in the eastern Mississippi, Alabama area.
Les: It certainly is Charlie, we here at Inside Wrestling will certainly be watching, and thank you for your time. We also thank you fans for taking the time to check us out. I am Les Thatcher signing off, and we’ll see you at the matches!
