9/22/96 LIVE on TBS: The Superstation, one hour before the PPV Kick-off
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’S BOMBTRACK blasts as the camera pans across a rockin’ St. Pete Times Forum in St. Petersburg, Fl…
International broadcast and wrestling journalist Mauro Ranallo and the Living Legend Larry Zbyszko welcome us to Main Event, and fans you only have one hour to call your local cable provider and be a part of the grandest spectacle in all of professional wrestling, WAR GAMES: THE MATCH BEYOND! On one side you have the current Heavyweight Champion of the World Curt Hennig and his perfect team of former multiple time World Champion ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude, Scott ‘Flash’ Norton, and Marcus ‘Buff’ Bagwell. On the other side you have WCW’s franchise player The Stinger, along with former World Champion Lex Luger, the current World Television Champion, and the WILD CARD as Larry calls him, the returning Nature Boy Ric Flair!
Not only that, but the United States Championship and the Unified World Tag Team Championship will be defended. WCW stand-out Rey Mysterio, Jr. attempts to bring the Generation neXt Championship home to WCW as he takes on the reigning champion and ECW Lt. Heavyweight Champion ‘Lone Wolf’ Dean Malenko. The Steiners get their wish and take on a group calling themselves Hell on Wheels, who debuted Monday Night at Nitro…
VTR of Hell on Wheels attacking the Steiner Brothers airs…
Match 1
The Aloha Boys, Iaukea and Rosey, teamed up with ‘Godfather’ Samu to take on Luc Poirier and Jacko Victory, the Extraordinary Mercenaries, and their partner the Ontario Mauler in the opening contest of Main Event. The veteran duo of Poirier and Victory looked good in the early going once they got Iaukea into the ring and cornered. Samu finally got the tag and turned the tide of the contest with the Super Samoan Driver (DVD), and made the tag to the 300 lbs. Rosey who finished the Mauler with a top rope Superfly Splash…

Match 2
One half of the Queen’s favorite tag team, Union Jack, with Dave Taylor at ringside took on youngster Chuckie Haas. In a fast-paced, back and forth encounter Haas used some high impact throws and displayed that Seton Hall University wrestling pedigree, gaining a near fall after an STO. But the feisty masked Britain fought back and finished Haas with the Bomb’s Away top-rope seated splash…
Mauro and Zbyszko discuss the special treat on hand for those ordering the pay-per-view tonight. Not only will the newest addition to WCW, ‘Kid Dynamite’ Koji Kanemoto be in action against former Generation neXt Champion Lance Storm, but the legendary persona TIGER MASK returns to the United States in his most recent incarnation, IV! Larry discusses taking on both the original Tiger Mask and Tiger Mask II, and how both men went on to be top champions in Japan. Mauro goes over the unveiling of Kanemoto himself as TM III in Japan, and how it really ignited his career. The lineage of Tiger Mask features some of the greatest Japanese professional wrestlers of all time, and IV might be the most exciting of the bunch. Also visiting tonight will be the Michinoku Pro Wrestling Pacific Tag Team Champions, Gran Naniwa and Super Delfin, who will be taking on Christian and Lenny, the Highlight Express!
VTR of Naniwa and Delfin highlights from Michinoku Pro and also of Tiger Mask I, II, III, and IV competing. Special thanks to Michinoku Pro and New Japan Pro Wrestling for the footage…

Mauro and Larry are joined by the tag team of the 90’s, Rick and Scott Steiner, who are very upset after what happened last Monday on Nitro. Everyone saw the highlights a little bit ago. Kendall Windham, CW Anderson, and some goon in a mask want to jump the Steiners from behind? Well badder men than them have tried to take out the Steiners, and you see who is standing tall. Ricky says that usually he don’t like to say ta, ta, ta, too much, but uh uh uhm, he didn’t like that being jumped on, an-uh and, tonight the uh-uh Dogfaced Gremlin would take a bite out of somebody! Scotty pats his brother on the back and says it’s going to be a long night for the Hell on Wheels, because tonight, the Steiners will derail that train!
Match 3
vs
Scorpio and WCW newcomer the Fallen Angel competed in another back and forth contest, that saw the Angel go neck and neck with the veteran in the early going, nearly finishing Scorpio with the Angel’s Wings spinning Tiger Driver Facebuster, but the ring awareness of Scorpio saved him. A well placed knee to the gut took a lot of starch out of Angel, and allowed Scorpio to go on the offensive, hitting all of his trademark moves. It was the 450 Primetime Splash that brought the Denver native another victory…
Ravishing Rick Rude and Curt Hennig join Mauro at the broadcast position, and say that tonight, all will go according to plan, and that just like every other day in their entire lives, all will go perfectly. JJ Dillon thinks he one-upped the World Champ? Nuh uh bub, he gave Hennig and Rude exactly what they wanted. All in one night, live on pay per view for the entire World to witness, the perfect team will end Ric Flair’s career, and rid themselves of the Sting and Luger nuisance once and for all.
The Ravishing One feels like giving us a little history lesson. He says that when we was roaming the locker room in WCW, dominating Sting on a regular basis, the Stinger and Flexy Lexy didn’t see eye to eye. Matter of fact they hated each other. But so is the saga of Sting and Lex isn’t it? You know how many times Curt Hennig and Rick Rude have hated each other? ZERO. Know how many times Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, and Scott Norton kicked some ass, took some names, and kissed all the girls? MILLIONS. We are brothers, we fight together, we ride together, and we look out for one another. Buff Bagwell didn’t grow up in Minnesota, but he is as good a partner as these Minnesota boys have ever had.
No trust issues for the Perfect Team, that is for sure. How much can Sting trust Lex Luger? How much can Lex Luger really trust Dallas Page? How much can any of them trust Ric Flair? Find out tonight, only on pay per view!

Larry is joined by the Stinger, the Total Package, and the master of the Diamond Cutter. And yeah they heard what all Hennig and Rude had to say, and if that is the kind of thoughts that help them sleep easier at night, they can keep on dreaming them. The fact is, regardless of their history, Sting does trust Lex Luger and vice versa. Do any of them trust Ric Flair? Not really, but the thing they know about Ric Flair is that, as of today, his focus is on Curt Hennig and Flair has always been a man of singular focus. He focuses, he destroys, and he moves on.
DDP says that nobody has to worry about trusting him. He can promise two things that he will do tonight. He will not surrender, and he will, WILL, get his hands on Scott Norton, and take his bull headed ass out of the equation!
The Stinger lets out an excited howl, and says that he heard Rick Rude out here giving history lessons, and he indeed has wrestled him many, many times, but that as far as Sting is concerned, Rude should have stayed at Eastern Championship. The Stinger has had pent up frustrations for Rude dating by to 1991, The Savannah Screw Job, when an injured Sting left the emergency room, barely made it to the arena in time, kicked Rude’s butt, and then lost his US Title after being hit with a late 80s model Cell Phone by some big mouth jerk who Sting isn’t sure what happened to. One thing Sting is sure of is that he, Lex Luger, Diamond Dallas Page, and Ric Flair will be part of the craziest Wargames of ALL-TIME, and that even a perfect team, can fall! OWWWWWWWW
David Penzer: Ladies and gentlemen this is your main event, scheduled for one fall, with TV time remaining. When the bell rings, your official in charge of the action is Mr. Randy Anderson. Introducing first from Blackpool, England; he weighed in at 17 stone 6 lbs., DAVIIIIID TAYLOR! And his opponent is led to the ring by General Robert E. Lee Parker and is from Huntsville, Alabama. He weighed in at 231 lbs. BEAUUUUTIFUL BOBBBBBBY!
w/vs
These two grizzled ring generals put on quite the show for the fans in the Forum with their chain wrestling, and grappling exchanges. As Taylor’s bruising British style started to turn the advantage the quiet man from Huntsville was able to catch him with a thumb to the throat and reverse the momentum. Eaton hit a side Russian leg-sweep with a float over for a two count, and transitioned that directly into a Fujiwara Armbar, but Taylor made it to the ropes. In another grappling scramble, Taylor nearly caught Eaton in the dreaded Regal Stretch version of the STF, but once again Bobby went to the throat, unbeknownst to the referee and then hit Taylor with a one man Flapjack, and gut buster. Beautiful Bobby smelt blood and ascended to the top rope where he hit his patent Alabama Jam for the victory.

WARGAMES: THE MATCH BEYOND
From the St. Pete Times Forum in St. Petersburg, Fl on 9/22/96
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’S BOMBTRACK blasts as the camera pans across a jam-packed Times Forum
Mauro Ranallo and Larry Zbyszko are joined by The American Dream Dusty Rhodes and Tony Schiavone who run down the entire PPV line-up before quickly sending it to Penzer to kick things off!
David Penzer: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to WCW FALL BRAWL! The opening contest of the evening is scheduled for one fall, and when the action begins your referee in charge of the action is Randy Anderson. Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by The Natural Don Callis; they weighed in at a total combined weight of 616 lbs. They hail from the depths of madness; Psychosis, La Parka, and El Diablo, NACIDOS DE LLAAAAAMAAAAAS! And their opponents weighed in at a total combined weight of 633 lbs. First from Cozumel, Mexico SUPER CALO! And his partner hails from the great state of Minnesota, BILLLLLLLY KIDMANNNN! And their partner comes to us from the land of the rising sun, this is TIGER MASK IV!
w/
vs
The opening contest of Fall Brawl opened up at a break neck pace as the family born of flames tried to get the upper hand on their eclectic group of opponents, jumping them as the bell sounded. Calo, Kidman, and TM were seemingly prepared for the tactic though and met the luchadores with offense of their own! This contest was full of high spots, and saw each man hit signature offense inside the ring, and outside the ring. Kidman sacrificed himself for his team taking out both La Parka and El Diablo with a spectacular Shooting Star Press from the top rope to the floor. Super Calo was then met with the guillotine legdrop from Psychosis, but Tiger Mask made the save.
Tiger Mask IV and Psychosis then locked up in a memorable exchange of moves. The forearm shivers of TM were beginning to take their toll on Psy, but the luchadore went to the eyes to buy himself a breather. As the brawl between Kidman and Diablo made its way into the ring, the referee was forced to separate the two, allowing the devious La Parka, who Dusty refers to as The Chairman, to waffle Calo, and the unsuspecting Tiger Mask from behind. This allowed Psychosis to ascend to the top rope and smash Calo with his patent top rope Guillotine Leg Drop, and pick up a hard earned victory.
Mauro Ranallo goes over the highlights and then the guys discuss the amount of International talent appearing on the card tonight. Not since the Super J Cup in 1995 has this much Junior Heavyweight talent been on a WCW card at the same time, which has Mauro extremely excited. And if the opening contest is any indication of what we are in store for; then Fall Brawl will go down in the record books as one of the finest PPV’s of the year! Tony says that the next bout will go a long way in deciding the next #1 Contender in the Generation neXt Division, and Mauro says that it is a match that promoters across the globe have been trying to get for a couple of years now, and he for one is proud to be calling it!
DP: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and when the bell rings your referee in charge is WCW Senior Official Mr. Nick Patrick. Introducing first; from Yokohama, Japan he weighed in at 226 lbs., and is the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, ‘KID DYNAMITE’ KOJI KANEMOOOOTOOO! And his opponent is the former Generation neXt Champion and hails from Calgary……. Alberta, Canada. He weighed in at 226 lbs., LAAAANCE STOOOOORM!
vs
Storm and Kid Dynamite played this one close to the vest in the early stages as each man knows exactly what is riding on the outcome of this encounter. The NJPW dojo and Hart dungeon products displayed a grappling clinic, and slowly picked up the pace. Koji had clearly done his homework, and zeroed in on the ribs of Storm, which were clearly still not 100% after the Super Gutbuster he suffered at the hands of Dean Malenko at the WCW/ECW Supershow; laying in with multiple kicks that floored the former Generation neXt champion. Storm showed the heart of a lion though, fighting through the pain, and exchanging strikes with his puro counterpart. Kid Dynamite caught Storm in a T-bone Exploder suplex for a near fall, and followed it up with a power drive elbow for another scare. Ring awareness saved Storm as he held onto the ropes as Kid went for a reverse neck breaker. A running knee to the face, followed up by a devastating Corkscrew Brainbuster got the 1….2…..3 for Lance Storm in a highly competitive back and forth encounter!
Tony, Dusty, and Larry reset the action after the blistering contest. They recap Hell on Wheels arrival in WCW just this past week on Nitro, attacking the Steiners from behind. Rick and Scott wanted all 3 men in the match-up tonight but the WCW Competition Committee could not allow that contest to take place. As it stands now they are still unaware of which 2 men they will be taking on tonight. As fans who have called the WCW Hotline know; the masked leader, known as Doc, is quite confident in the trio’s ability to not only reign supreme over the tag team division in WCW, but to send the Steiner Brothers back to Bay City permanently…
DP: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and when the bell rings your referee in charge of the action is Pee Wee Anderson. Introducing first; hailing from parts unknown, Kendall Windham, CW Anderson, and Doc HELL ON WHEELS! And their opponents hail from Bay City, Michigan and weighed in at a total combined weight of 525 lbs., they are the former Tag Team Champions of the World, Rick and Scott, THE STEINER BROTHERS!
w
vs
As it turned out, it was the team of Anderson and Windham who took on Rick and Scott, with the masked Doc and his trusty noose at ringside. There was a distinct change of pace between this and the previous contest as the four heavyweights tore into each other ferociously. Windham and Anderson looked great in spots, with Doc shouting instructions from ringside. Rick and Scotty would not be denied their retribution here tonight though as they took it to Hell on Wheels. Rick nearly decapitated Kendall with a vicious Steinerline and then took off after Doc on the floor. Scotty then planted CW with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and set him up for the Frankensteiner. Doc was able to catch the foot of Anderson to save him from the Frankensteiner, but that allowed Rick to catch Doc with a Steinerline and unload soupbones upside his head. Seeing this, Kendall and CW saved their man, and as the trio attempted to exit stage right, Rick and Scott chased after them, not allowing them to escape, much to the delight of the St. Pete crowd. In the end Rick was able to catch CW with a diving Bulldog from the top rope and pick up a satisfying victory!
Mauro Ranallo has rejoined Tony, Dusty, and Larry heading into the Generation neXt championship match. They discuss the meteoric rise of Rey Mysterio since his arrival in WCW. That even with an influx of international talent, the young luchador has stood out in the crowd, but tonight his work was certainly cut out for him as he steps into the ring with one of the most dangerous men on the planet. The Lone Wolf, like Mysterio, is a second generation wrestler, and comes from one of the most respected wrestling families in the history of the sport. There is obvious excitement in the voices of the guys, and in the air as well, as Rey’s music hits, they send it to David Penzer!
DP: Ladies and gentlemen the following contest at Fall Brawl is scheduled for one fall and is for the WCW GENERATION NEXT DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP! Introducing first, the challenger; he weighed in at 190 lbs. and comes to us from Mexico City, Mexico, REEEEEEY MYSTERIOOOO JUNIOOOOOR! And his opponent is the Light Heavyweight and neXt Division Champion of the World; he weighed in at 218 lbs. and hails from Tampa, Florida; he is the Lone World DEAN MA-LEN-KOOOOO!
vs
The Lone Wolf is known for his staunch wrestling, even shooting, pedigree. As Larry Zbyszko said, there isn’t an arm or leg in the world that Dean Malenko can’t break. Which is exactly why Rey Mysterio was doing his best Muhammad Ali impersonation, sticking and moving, and Malenko doing his best George Foreman, stalking and stalking. While Mysterio was able to keep his distance he was giving the champ all kind of troubles. Several near falls ensued after surprise roll-ups and reversals into pinning combinations. A couple of big moves from Malenko slowed the pace, and put the champ in the driver seat. A running Liger bomb folded Mysterio up like an accordion, but somehow Rey was able to escape.
While the champ’s demeanor never changed his body language displayed a certain swagger, as if he were enjoying the punishment he was putting on Mysterio. Rey was able to narrowly escape the Texas Cloverleaf, by making it to the ropes. Malenko responded with not one, not two, but three devastating modified back breakers that focused on the ribs. That was when he went up top with Mysterio, looking for the Super Gutbuster that brought him the title, but somehow Mysterio reversed it into a hunacanrana! He cinches up the legs, 1……2………….NO! Malenko escapes. Mysterio instantly hits the ropes, basement dropkick! Rey hits the ropes, he leaps over Malenko, springboards of the middle rope to the top rope, TRIPLE JUMP MOONSAULT! But NO! Malenko hops up, and catches Mysterio on the way down, and drives him across his knee, BRUTAL! It’s academic, 1…….2………..3! Malenko’s gutbuster might be the most devastating finisher in the sport!

Tony Schiavone and the American Dream Dusty Rhodes are joined by Mauro Ranallo for the upcoming contest. The trio discusses the first half of the show tonight, and how hard the boys have been going for it, having their chance to shine tonight on pay-per-view with multiple top WCW stars in Wargames tonight. Mauro says that the next 3 matches might very well determine roster spots, and paycheck sizes for the athletes involved in the upcoming months, and thoroughly expects fireworks!
Dave Penzer: Introducing first; at a total combined weight of 449 lbs. Lenny Lane, Christian Cage; THE HIGHLIGHT EXPRESS! And their opponents come to us from Michinoku Pro Wrestling in the land of the rising sun. They are the 1995 Super J Cup champion SUPER DELFIN and his partner GRAN NAN-I-WAAAA!
vs
Naniwa and Delfin really had Christian and Lenny on the defensive in the early going of this one. Their unusual brand of high flying offense landed them several near falls. The heads-up, quick-thinking of Christian Cage might be the only thing that saved his besty Lenny from certain defeat as he prevented Naniwa from hitting a top-rope Frankensteiner. Cage and Delfin proceeded to have an outstanding offensive exchange, that saw Delfin reverse the Unprettier modified reverse face buster, but not be able to work his way out the double team powerbomb from the Highlights, which double C followed up with a devastating Frog Splash for a huge victory for the youngsters!
The Living Legend Larry Zbyszko rejoins Tony and Dusty in the booth and the trio goes over the last month and just how things have played out between the dominant Unified Tag Team Champions of the World Southern Justice and the #1 Contender’s the Nasty Boys. From the week prior to the Showdown in Charlotte, to the week after, and Dusty’s involvement. The Dream says that he hopes Bubba and Anthony get everything they deserve, plus jus a lil bit mo’.
Dave Penzer: Ladies and gentlemen the following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 45 minute time limit and is for the UNIFIED TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD! When the bell rings your official in charge is Mr. Randy Anderson. Introducing first; the challengers. At a total combined weight 572 lbs. and hailing from Nastiville, USA; they are the former Tag Team Champions of the World; Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags, THE NASTY BOYS! And their opponents are the defending champions being led to the ring by Col. Robert E. Lee Parker. They weighed in at a total combined weight of 598 lbs. Big Bubba Rogers, Tony Anthony; SOUTHERN JUSTICE!
wvs
No feeling out process, no finesse, and certainly no loved lost here. These four super heavyweights made up their slower pace in sheer brutality; tearing into one another without regard for their own bodies. Jerry Sags was the standout performer in the early going, throwing caution to the wind and disregarding his own physical welfare. The problem for Sags though is that Big Bubba cared even less for Sags physical welfare, and turned the tide of battle with a hot shot across the top rope. Anthony had his way with Sags as well, but had less luck with Knobbs when the tag was made. Luckily for Southern Justice, the Col.’s trusty loafer was within reach and enabled Tony to reverse momentum once again, tag in the closer of the Stud Stable, and once Bubba hits you with the sidewalk slam; it is academic at that point. Once again, the Col. is the difference…
Dave Penzer: The following contest is scheduled for just one fall. Tag rules will apply as only two men will be legal at a time. This bout has a 1 hour time limit and your referee in charge is WCW Senior Official, Nick Patrick. Introducing first; now residing in Nova Scotia, Canada; he weighed in at 236 lbs. RICK MARTEL! Now being accompanied to the ring by Sister Sherri, they hail from Harlem, New York. Introducing first; he weighed in at 250 lbs. BOOKER T.! Weighing in at 278 lbs. STEVIE RAY! And their opponent is the current United States Heavyweight Champion; he hails from Charlotte, North Carolina and weighed in at 234 lbs.; this is RICKY ‘THE DRAGON’ STEAMBOAT!
vs
vsvs
This contest begins with Steamboat getting his wish and taking on Martel. The ring vets have an entertaining exchange, but neither man is able to keep an advantage with Booker T. and Stevie Ray on hand to keep each in check. The big man tagged himself in and proceeded to dominate the next several moments of the contest. Stevie seemingly had Martel defeated after a big boot upside the head, and with Steamboat recovering on the floor, Booker T. made the save. The brothers from Harlem locked eyes momentarily, but then went to work double teaming Martel. Steamboat made his way back into the action, and he and the young buck, Booker T. had a classic exchange that saw Booker come close to pinning the former World Champion on a couple of occasions. Miscommunication led to Booker T. delivering the Harlem Sidekick to his big brother; luckily Sister Sherri was able to keep Harlem Heat from tearing into one another on the floor. That first moment of dissention amongst Harlem Heat was all that the Dragon needed to isolate Martel, hit him with a big dropkick, and pick up a hard fought victory after his patent high cross body from the top rope!
Tony, Dusty, and Larry go over all of the outstanding action from tonight’s shows, and set up Wargames. Dusty talks about being the very first man to ever step foot inside the structure, and the frame of mind required to succeed inside the wargames. Zbyszko, a veteran himself, discussed how it was this match in 1992 that essentially ended his career. He did have a few matches after the fact, but it was the injuries sustained at the hands of his own partners that ended his career. That is just how dangerous this match is, and also it can only be brought to you once a year. Tony goes over 1996 and the rollercoaster ride it has been for Sting, Lex Luger, and also the fans of WCW, never knowing who to trust, who to believe in, or what to think. One thing is for sure, this is the night that many questions will be answered. With so many combustible elements inside the cage, is there any way that this Wargames does not go down in the history books?
Dave Penzer: The Wargames consists of 7 periods. The first period will be 5 minutes in duration. A coin toss will be held following period #1 to determine which team will have a one man advantage throughout the Wargames. Periods 2-6 will be 2 minutes in duration. Once all 8 men have entered the Wargames, it will be time for THE MATCH BEYOND: SUBMISSION OR SURRENDER! Now it’s time for the 4 most famous words in wrestling, LET THE WAAAAARGAMES BEEEEEEEEGIN!
vs
Period 1 – Sting vs. Bagwell
The Stinger comes out firing on all cylinders and the Buffster didn’t have a chance in the early going. He tasted the cage on each side of each ring, and nearly broke his neck after getting back dropped from one ring to the next and landing wrongly. The Stinger locked him the Scorpion Death Lock and was positioned to where he could see the next entrant down the aisle.
Camera is in the back where JJ Dillon and Magnum T.A. are standing by. They have a large coin that is blue on one side, representing Sting, Luger, Page, and Naitch and red on the other, representing Curt, Rude, Norton, Buff…
Period 2 – Sting vs. Buff Bagwell and Rick Rude
Sting drops Buff’s legs and meets Rude at the door! These legends of professional wrestling have a long, storied rivalry with one another and the bad blood runs deep! Rude made things even more personal a week ago Rudely Awakening Sting twice on Nitro. Sting and Rude are tearing into one another like madmen when a bloody Buff Bagwell makes his way back into battle. He holds Sting’s arms and Rude delivers some nasty body blows. Sting’s trick knee went out at the perfect time, hitting Buff in the balls, which let Sting get out of the way. Rude nails Buff with a forearm smash, and is eating some boots from the Stinger!
Period 3 – Sting and DDP vs. Buff and Rude
Sting and DDP high 5 and go right after their opponents, tearing into each. Poor Buff looks like a victim from a horror movie. Sting and DDP focus on Rude, but the Ravishing One goes directly to the eyes of both men and creates some space. The Stinger tastes the steel and Rude STOMPS him below the belt. Now Buff has his second win, and along with Rude they pick Page up on their shoulders and battering ram him face first into the cage over and over and over again! Then they drop him throat first across the top rope. Now the duo heads to the opposite ring and give Sting the battering ram treatment as well.
Period 4 – Sting and DDP vs. Buff, Rude, and Scott Norton
As if Sting and Dallas weren’t in enough trouble, next up is the big Ox. Norton comes in clotheslining the piss out each man. Norton powerbombs the Sting and then takes after his arch-nemesis, Diamond Dallas Page. Norton is slapping him, grinding his face into the steel mesh, and enjoying every bit of it. Meanwhile, Bagwell is taking the opportunity to try to wipe some of the blood off his head, but there is little use as it is pouring. Rude has set his sights in on the Stinger now. A Rude Awakening pleases him enough that he feels some gyrating is in order. Sting tries to swing at Rude, but collapses. Rude has a good laugh and drapes Sting’s throat across the bottom rope and is choking the starch right out of him.
Period 5 – Sting, DDP, and Lex Luger vs. Buff, Rude, and Norton
The former Heavyweight Champion of the World see’s his friends in dire straits, and has 3 of the best wrestlers in the world awaiting him, but the Total Package comes in a house of fire anyway! A left, rights, bionic forearms, and clotheslines for everyone and Lex is standing tall! He checks on Sting whose face paint has been replaced by a mask, a crimson one. Lex sends Rude face first into the cage. He plants Norton with the Attitude Adjustment piledriver. Next he sends Buff Bagwell flying across both ropes and crashing down. Now Lex checks on DDP who seems to be faring better than the Stinger. Page shoves Luger out of the way, and eats a clothesline from Rude! Here comes Luger on Rude! Elbow goes crazy with the strikes once again and is the only man standing as…
Period 6 – Sting, DDP, and Lex vs. Buff, Rude, Norton, and Curt Hennig
The Heavyweight Champion seems a bit tentative to enter the cage with Luger waiting, ready to pounce. 1996 has been hell for Lex Luger, he lost his best friend for awhile, then his protégé Bagwell turned on him, then his girl, Miss Elizabeth turned on him, he lost the WHC 15 days after winning, and the man responsible for all of that is about to enter a massive cage with him.
.
.
.
.
.
BUT HERE COMES THE NATURE BOY!
Doug Dillinger and the WCW Super Security Squad are chasing closely behind, but they can’t get to the madman! Hennig sees him and is running from Flair! The chase is on around the cage we go! Hennig finally runs into the cage to get away from Flair, but Naitch catches the door! They are in a tug of war that is until Lex Luger grabs two handfuls of Hennig’s hair and begins clobbering away! Flair jumps into the cage, slams the door shut, and demands senior official Nick Patrick to lock it up!
THE MATCH BEYOND: SUBMISSION or SURRENDER
Luger and Naitch are taking turns punching and chopping Hennig as Sting and Rude are fighting and bleeding all over each other. Norton is trying to rid himself of DDP to come help his boy Curt, but like a pitbull DDP will not be kicked away. And poor Buff Bagwell can barely stand, he has to have lost a quart of blood by now. The whites of his eyes are all that can be made out. Valiantly Bagwell gets to Luger and Flair and tries to double low-blow the former World Champions, but they catch his arms and together they send him flying into the cage!
They turn around and are met by the oncoming mack truck that is Scott Norton. Norton turns to check on Curt Hennig, but BANG! DIAMOND CUTTER! Down goes Norton. DDP helps Hennig up to his feet, Curt thinks it’s Norton goes to thank him, BANG! DIAMOND CUTTER! Page goes towards Rude, but the Stinger tells him to back the hell up! Sting has his second wind and he is stalking Rick Rude. Rude ain’t scared though, thumbs the Stinger in the eye. Sting stays on course, he pounds his chest, Rude gives him the “you sonofa…” look and starts swinging wildly. Rude and Sting have not separated since Rude made it to the cage!
The Dirtiest Player in the Game has a thumb for the eye of Curt Hennig. He also has a chop for his throat, and gives him a stomp across the champs feet! Flair then digs all of his fingernails into the back of Hennig. Curt swings wildly at Flair, but Naitch ducks and GRABS THE TESTICULAR CLAW!! Hennig is jumping up and down like he wants to be the next contestant on the price is right or something! Lex Luger has Bagwell up in the Torture Rack, Buff is fighting, he is screaming, “NO, NO, HELL NO… OK OK, I QUIT!” Bagwell has given it up! The most brutal match in wrestling has concluded!
Tony, Dusty, and Larry go over the Wargames and say that they’re sure a great deal of frustration has been relieved by Luger and Sting, but coming out of the contest, it is pretty apparent that the bad blood between Sting and Rick Rude will never be settled. While the guys are talking, they show the act of congress that is being required to remove Ric Flair from the cage, he has not removed his hands from the throat of Curt Hennig, WOOOOOO! Tony says for everyone to be sure and call Mauro Ranallo on the Hotline tonight, he will have match ratings, interviews, plus all the backstage fallout as he head to Tampa tomorrow night for Nitro, 1-900-909-9900…
