While the opening theme plays, we see the following clip:
Tiger Mask made short work of Ashura Hara last week, but has a much harder time here against Saito! Saito dominates the early going, using his power advantage to pummel the masked man. Tiger Mask II takes a horrendous amount of abuse throughout the match, but shows his fighting spirit as he won’t stay down!
As the match progresses Tiger Mask eventually turns the tables, and after stunning Saito with a Tiger Feint kick, the masked man connects with a Tiger Suplex for the 1, 2, 3!
KENJI WAKABAYASHI and TAKASHI YAMADA open the show.
They welcome us to this week’s episode of World Wrestling Kingdom!
This week, we’ll see the last quarter final match of the World 6-man tag team title tournament, as Ted Dibiase, Dick Slater and Bob Orton Jr square off with the French Canadian trio of Rick Martel and the Rougeau brothers!
Ashura Hara meets Wild Pegasus!
The Power Warriors, the Warlord and the Barbarian, face Mighty Inoue and Shinichi Nakano!
Tatsumi Fujinami, Antonio Inoki and Yoshiaki Yatsu square off with Bad News Allen, Tiger Jeet Singh and Cactus Jack!
And, our feature bout this week, Tiger Mask II faces Riki Choshu. If Tiger Mask wins the match, he will earn a shot at Genichiro Tenryu and the All-Asia heavyweight title!
ASHURA HARA (w/ Riki Choshu, Masa Saito & Genichiro Tenryu) beats WILD PEGASUS. The young masked man puts up a good fight, but Hara gets the win after hitting Pegasus with a Superplex for the 1, 2, 3.
We see a video package, showing the formation of the Revolution Army, as they beat up Tiger Mask II, followed by Tiger Mask defeating Ashura Hara and Masa Saito.
Wakabayashi says that if Tiger Mask II beats Riki Choshu in today’s main event, that will make him the #1 contender to face Genichiro Tenryu for the All-Asia heavyweight title!
THE POWER WARRIORS: THE BARBARIAN & THE WARLORD beat MIGHTY INOUE & SHINICHI NAKANO. The Power Warriors make short work of Inoue and Nakano! The match lasts about 5 minutes, as the Warlord and Barbarian dominate from bell to bell. In the end, Warlord holds Inoue in a backbreaker over his knee, while the Barbarian delivers a kneedrop off the top rope to the head of Inoue! Warlord then pins Inoue by placing a boot on his chest for the 1, 2, 3!
VTR: People’s Army vs Power Warriors & Bad News Allen, 12-4-87, JIP:
Tatsumi Fujinami gets the win for the People’s Army when he pins Bad News Allen after a Dragon Suplex!
After the match, an enraged Bad News Allen attacks Fujinami from behind, and pummeled him before Antonio Inoki and Tiger Mask made the save!
END VTR
Wakabayashi and Yamada discuss Bad News Allen’s attack on Fujinami last week, which led to our next match being signed.
TATSUMI FUJINAMI & ANTONIO INOKI & YOSHIAKI YATSU beat BAD NEWS ALLEN & TIGER JEET SINGH & CACTUS JACK. As we saw, Allen attacked Fujinami from behind on last week’s show, after Fuji pinned Allen in the World 6-man tag team title tournament match. On top of that, Inoki and Tiger Jeet Singh have a rivalry going back to the late 70s, and Cactus Jack, Singh’s protégé, has been brought into that rivalry as well!
Fuji, Inoki and Yatsu try their best to keep this a wrestling match, despite their opponent’s best intentions to turn it into a brawl! After some wild, hard-hitting action, Fujinami gets the win for his team when he hits Cactus with the Dragon Suplex for the 1, 2, 3!
WORLD 6-MAN TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT:
QUARTER FINAL MATCH:
THE OUTLAWS: TED DIBIASE & DICK SLATER & BOB ORTON JR defeat THE AMAZING FRENCH CANADIANS: RICK MARTEL & JACQUES & RAYMOND ROUGEAU. Most of this 20+ minute match is shown on TV. Dibiase, Slater and Orton are all extremely talented technical wrestlers, but Martel and the Rougeau brothers are just as talented! We’re treated to a technical wrestling clinic, wrestled at a Junior Heavyweight pace!
The fans in attendance might not have a dog in this race, as these two gaijin teams square off, but they are appreciative of the masterful wrestling that is displayed by all six men.
Neither team really has an advantage throughout the early part of the match, but as we head into the final stretch of the match, the Outlaws eventually take over, and eventually get the win when Dibiase locks Jacques Rougeau in the Figure-4 Leglock for the submission!
TIGER MASK II (w/ Tatsumi Fujinami, Antonio Inoki & Yoshiaki Yatsu) beats RIKI CHOSHU (w/ Genichiro Tenryu, Masa Saito & Ashura Hara). The action is fast and furious here! Choshu pummels Tiger Mask early on, and the masked man finds himself desperately trying to avoid Choshu’s Scorpion Lock submission hold! Every time he tries to apply it, Tiger Mask is either able to quickly grab the ropes, or break free before Choshu can cinch it in.
Tiger Mask gets some offence in, but he can’t turn the tables and gain any long-lasting advantage. He gets some shots in, but Choshu quickly fights back and keeps the advantage.
It looks like Choshu is on his way to victory, and Tiger Mask realizes this. As Choshu rushes at the masked man for a Lariat, Tiger Mask ducks it, then when Choshu turns around, Tiger Mask catches him with a dropkick right on the chin! That gives Tiger Mask the break he needs, and he gets his second win as he tears into Choshu!
Now it’s Choshu who can’t seem to turn the tables, and Tiger Mask soon hits him with the Tiger Suplex ’85 for the 1, 2, 3!
Wakabayashi and Yamada discuss the World 6-man tag team title tournament. We saw the final quarter final match today, and next week, we’ll see both semi final matches!
Then a graphic appears on the screen, featuring the 4 teams that are still in the tournament:
The Revolution Army: Genichiro Tenryu, Riki Choshu and Masa Saito!
People’s Army: Tatsumi Fujinami, Antonio Inoki and Tiger Mask II!
The Outlaws: Ted Dibiase, Dick Slater and Bob Orton Jr!
The Three Muskateers: Keiji Mutoh, Masa Chono and Shinya Hashimoto!
