They welcome us to the very first episode of World Wrestling Kingdom!
Today we’ll see a special dream match, as Antonio Inoki teams up with Tatsumi Fujinami to face Inoki’s long-time rival Giant Baba, and Genichiro Tenryu!
DARREN MATTHEWS battles KENTA KOBASHI to a 15-minute time limit DRAW. These two youngsters put on a good match, the fans are solidly behind Kobashi, but they appreciate the talent of both men. Neither man can get the win before the time limit expires and the match is declared a draw. Matthews and Kobashi shake hands after the match.
FIT FINLAY & DYNAMITE KID defeat SHIRO KOSHINAKA & KEIICHI YAMADA. Finlay and Dynamite Kid fare better than their fellow Brit, Darren Matthews did in the opener. Late in the match, Koshinaka and Yamada have the upper hand, but Finlay turns the tables, taking an object from DK when Koshinaka has him backed up into his own corner. Finlay then repeatedly drives the object into Koshinaka’s throat, making sure to keep it out of view of the referee. Finlay then tags Dynamite Kid, who continues the assault. Koshinaka is able to fight him off, and tags Yamada, but the youngster soon falls in defeat, as DK hits the snap suplex, followed by a diving headbutt from the top rope for the 1, 2, 3.
KEIJI MUTOH & MASAHIRO CHONO defeat TOSHIAKI KAWADA & SHUNJI TAKANO. All four men here are gifted wrestlers, even the 6’7” Takano can go hold for hold with Chono and Mutoh! At one point, we even see Takano connect with an impressive dropkick on Chono! However, Chono and Mutoh end up getting the win, when they wear down Kawada, and Mutoh eventually hits him with a Moonsault for the pinfall victory!
TED DIBIASE defeats TAKASHI ISHIKAWA. Dibiase gets the win here, locking Ishikawa in the Figure-4 Leglock for the submission victory!
TIGER MASK II defeats COWBOY BOB ORTON JR. Orton controls the early going, keeping the masked man on the mat, wearing him down. However Tiger Mask shows his fighting spirit, as he slowly starts to fight back. In the end, Tiger Mask connects with the Tiger Suplex for the pinfall victory!
WWK President Seiji Sakaguchi comes to the ring.
He is carrying the WWK World championship belt with him.
Sakaguchi says that the next tour will kick off on Saturday night, October 2, at Ota Ward Gym here in Tokyo. Featured on that tour will be the King's Road tournament.
The tournament final will take place on October 31 at Nippon Budokan, and the winner will become the World champion!
STAN HANSEN & DICK SLATER defeat YOSHIAKI YATSU & ASHURA HARA. Hansen is his usual wild self here, pummeling his opponents every chance he gets. Yatsu and Hara hold their own for the entire match, until the end when, as Slater and Yatsu battle outside the ring, Hansen hits Hara with the Western Lariat for the 1, 2, 3!
ANTONIO INOKI & TATSUMI FUJINAMI defeat GIANT BABA & GENICHIRO TENRYU. Tenryu is an arrogant dick here, which doesn’t sit well with Inoki or Fujinami, and even his own partner Baba doesn’t seem happy about Tenryu’s attitude. Tenryu takes cheapshots whenever the opportunity presents itself, and even shoves Baba aside, telling him to stay out of his way!
As the match progresses, Inoki and Fujinami gain the upper hand, and they take turns working over Baba in the ring. At one point, Baba makes it to his corner to tag out, but Tenryu refuses to tag, telling Baba to get back in there and fight!
Finally, Fujinami hits Baba with the Dragon Suplex, and gets the 1, 2, 3!
Afterwards, Tenryu berates Baba, then starts slapping him around! Baba tries to fight back, but in his weakened state, he quickly gets beat down by Tenryu. Genichiro then pulls Baba up, and hits him with an Enziguri, leaving Baba laid out on the mat!
By now, Inoki and Fujinami have returned to the ring, but Tenryu hightails it, and Inoki and Fujinami check on Baba as the show comes to a close.
Wakabayashi and Yamada wrap things up, and hype next week’s show.
