BILLY RED LYONS and PAT PATTERSON open the show!
Billy Red and Patterson welcome us to Winnipeg, Manitoba for this week’s episode of Pro Wrestling Canada’s Titans of the Ring!
This week, we’ll see Bob Orton Jr in action! Canadian National champion Dino Bravo will be here! Stan Hansen will look to continue his dominant run here in Canada today!
Scott Hall will be in action! Owen Hart and Brian Pillman will be in tag team action!
And, our feature bout will see the Killer Bees square off with Dick Slater and Bad News Allen!
Plus, we’ll hear from International champion Rick Martel, and we’ll see a video from the Heavenly Bodies, a new team coming to Canada!
BOB ORTON JR defeats RON RITCHIE. Orton was working as the enforcer for JJ Dillon’s group, but now that Dillon, Blanchard and the Andersons have left Canada, it’s left Orton seemingly without a purpose. However, he’s in fine form here, he makes short work of Ritchie, hitting Ritchie with a top-rope Superplex for the pinfall victory!
DINO BRAVO defeats DOUG VINES. The Canadian National champion gets the win after hitting Vines with the Backdrop Suplex for the 1, 2, 3.
We go to a pre-recorded segment, featuring The Genius.
He’s walking through the halls of Princeton.
The Genius says that last week, he visited Harvard, and it was underwhelming to say the least! He says that it was clear to him that he made the right choice in turning down their offer to attend! He says that Princeton is another school that BEGGED him to attend, they knew that having someone as brilliant as him associated with their school would make them the premier school in the world!
Alas, Princeton wasn’t up to his standards, and he turned them down as well!
He comes to a display of pictures showing various athletes from the school’s history, including a picture of the wrestling team. The Genius says that not only is he a genius, he’s also an elite wrestler, and when he comes to Pro Wrestling Canada, not only will he prove to everyone that he is, indeed, a genius, but he’ll prove that he is also the greatest wrestler the Canadian fans have ever seen!
STAN HANSEN defeats FRED PELOQUIN. Hansen continues his domination here in Canada, as he steamrolls Peloquin, hitting with with a vicious Lariat for the pinfall!
Afterwards, Peloquin is taken from the ring on a stretcher!
We go to a pre-taped “PWC UPDATE” segment. We see Billy Red Lyons, and in the background, a shot of wrestling in a jam-packed Maple Leaf Gardens.
Lyons talks about a new team that is on their way to Pro Wrestling Canada. The team consists of Tom Pritchard and Jimmy Del Ray, and they call themselves the Heavenly Bodies! Lyons says that he’s not sure about that, but there’s no denying that they’re a talented team.
He says that Pritchard and Del Ray have sent in a video for the fans to see.
We see Tom Pritchard and Jimmy Del Ray standing on the beach. Pritchard, who refers to himself as the “Doctor of Desire”, says that they’re in California right now, at the beach, enjoying the sun, they want to spend as much time here as they can, before they have to come to the freezing wasteland that is Canada!
“Gigolo” Jimmy Del Ray starts to talk, but then they’re swarmed by a group of women in skimpy bikinis! They try to continue their promo, but the women are all over them, and the camera cuts off.
Lyons says that Pritchard and Del Ray are certainly not lacking for confidence, but we’ll see if they can back it up when they arrive here in Pro Wrestling Canada!
SCOTT HALL defeats BARRY HOROWITZ. Hall makes short work of Horowitz, hitting him with a variety of power moves, including a fallaway slam, before delivering a Powerbomb for the 1, 2, 3!
We go to PWC President Jack Tunney in his office.
Tunney talks about the World tag team title tournament, which will begin on the August 7 edition of Titans of the Ring!
He runs down the 8 teams that will participate in the tournament:
The Powers of Pain, Barbarian and Warlord!
From Japan, the Dark Samurais, Masa Chono and Keiji Mutoh!
The Killer Bees, Brian Blair and Jim Brunzell!
The Riot Squad, Dick Slater and Bad News Allen!
The Rougeau brothers, Jacques and Raymond!
The Heavenly Bodies, Tom Pritchard and Jimmy Del Ray!
Owen Hart and Brian Pillman!
Mark Rocco and Fit Finlay!
Tunney says that the tournament will begin on August 7 right here on Titans of the Ring, and the final will take place at WrestleFest, live on Pay-Per-View on Saturday, September 11!
OWEN HART & BRIAN PILLMAN defeat EL MEDICO & THE MASKED TERRORIST. Owen gets the win for his team when he pins Medico following a top-rope Missile Dropkick.
THE RIOT SQUAD: DICK SLATER & BAD NEWS ALLEN battle THE KILLER BEES: JIM BRUNZELL & BRIAN BLAIR to a wild Double Count-Out. After several minutes of back and forth action, the match moves to the floor, where the two teams brawl, and are eventually counted out.
Jack Reynolds is at the interview podium with International heavyweight champion Rick Martel. Reynolds says that over the last two weeks, they’ve received anonymous offers to buy to the International title from Martel, first was an offer of $50,000, then last week the offer went up to $100,000!
Martel says that the title is not for sale, no matter the amount.
Suddenly, Martel and Reynolds are interrupted by Ted Dibiase!
Dibiase is dressed in an expensive suit, and he’s carrying a briefcase. He takes the mic, then opens the briefcase, showing that it’s full of money!
Dibiase says that he’s invested his money very wisely over the years, and as a result, he’s now a multi-millionaire! Over the years, he’s found one thing to be true . . . everybody’s got a price! He says that he’ll make a final offer, he’s got $250,000 in this briefcase, and all Martel has to do is hand over the International title, and the money is his!
Martel says that he’s already given his answer, the title is not for sale, if Dibiase wants it, he’ll have to get in the ring and beat Martel for it!
Martel then walks off, leaving a LIVID Ted Dibiase at the interview podium!
Dibiase tells Reynolds that this isn't over!
Lyons and Patterson wrap things up, and hype next week’s show.
