World Class Championship Wrestling
As the hot Texas summer comes to an end, World Class Championship Wrestling is on fire! Gino Hernandez is the “Man of the Hour” going into October. Over the course of one month, Gino defeated Mike Von Erich to win the American Heavyweight Title and then defeated Brian Adias to win the Texas Title. The “Handsome Half Breed from Highland Park” now holds both major singles titles. Along with his manager, “Playboy” Gary Hart, The Texas wrestling world revolves around Hernandez. Hart also has the mysterious Great Kabuki with him along with a newcomer to Texas, Bobby Jaggers. The tough “Hangman” from Dunlop. KS makes Gary Hart an even more dangerous manager.
The American Tag Team Titles recently changed hands as well. General Skandor Akbar’s Super Destroyers lost both the titles and their masks to the popular team of Iceman King Parsons and Buck Zumhofe. The fans love the “Rock and Soul Patrol”. Akbar’s men are not giving up. The Super Destroyers were revealed to be the Irwin Brothers, Bill and Scott. They are now wrestling as the Long Riders and are hot on the trail of the new Champions. Akbar also has the strange Missing Link with him as well as, the Ugandan warrior, Kamala.
We have not mentioned the Von Erich family as of yet. The first family of Texas wrestling, Kerry, Kevin and Mike remain top contenders for any title in Texas, or the NWA. Some news that has captured the attention of the Von Erichs is the World Six Man Tag Team Titles. The Freebirds left Texas, with the titles, several months ago. They then traveled to Montreal, Canada to take on the Canadian threesome of Mad Dog Lefebvre, Frenchy Martin and Sailor White. They are managed by the legendary Tarzan Tyler. The Canadian team took the titles from the Freebirds and have stated that they wish to travel to Texas and defeat the Von Erichs to prove that they are the top six man tag team in the world.
The syndicated program “World Class Championship Wrestling” will continue to be taped on Friday night at the Sportatorium in Dallas. Championship Sports program “Saturday NIght Wrestling” will be taped, on Monday nights, in Ft. Worth. World Class Championship Wrestling has announced their next special show. On Saturday night, October 26, they will be at the State Fair Coliseum for a special show during the State Fair of Texas.
