“Terry Taylor, I never said I disrespected your ability. I disrespected your attitude and how you represent the world title. You see, it’s the 1980s the microwave society and all everyone wants is instant rewards and instant success, and that’s why most world champions nowadays only last a year or two. When I was world champion, I held the belt for FOUR straight years, traveling night after night to Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, all over North America to defend the title belt I didn’t have time to worry about the flashiest suits, the nicest cars, and private jets. Yes, I wore a suit because I was professional, and rode business class because I was champion but that was it. Anything else was a distraction for what really made me the money: perfecting my craft in the ring against the best the world had to offer. You better be careful Terry Taylor because I have seem to have struck a nerve, and seems to me right now you are focused on defending your image, not that title, and if you aren’t careful, you never know I might sneak up on you and leaving you asking, “what just happened?” when I put you in the Texas cloverleaf May 9 in my home state of Texas!

Wasting no time on that Sam Houston apology. Ron Simmons almost reads like an old school heel turn coming in trying to convince Houston to do the right thing to where it wouldn't shock me if he himself aligns with Gary Hart. I don't know if I'd go as far as to say I expect that to happen but just that it feels like a possibility where it keeps things interesting even beyond the apology angle concluding here.

Great promos by Terry Taylor and Dory Funk Jr. in response to sell their match. Taylor put himself over as more than the money and high class gimmick but then Dory really put him in his place. You don't see Dory doing a ton of interesting stuff in fantasy wrestling as it is always set past his best days but I'm liking this storyline. The microwave society line got the point across for sure.

Can't undersell the actual actions here. Ron Garvin taking down Curtis Hughes is a big win for him. The Rock N Roll RPMs bit gives every story a match as the opponents try to expose the bald heads - presumably at least still, I guess we won't know for sure until the caps come off. I can't imagine that a rookie Taz did much more than get squashed by Ron Simmons but it's the type of match fans will be seeking out in 10 years through tape trading on the internet. Iceman Parsons still brings a lot to the table so a match with Ron Bass is probably a good back and forth as the TV main.

Great payoff to all that build. It really elevates Sam Houston a lot and turned everything on its head. The tease of apologizing right down to actually saying the words, only to continue on was great writing. You've also managed to take this storyline and carry it over into the match between The Fantastics and Dick Murdoch & Adrian Adonis, adding something extra there as well - not that it even needed it.

Looking forward to the show at The Summit to find out what happens.

I was really a big Sam Houston mark in '85-'86, during his JCP years. Usually, if he got an angle back then it was getting beat up by heels so Dusty and Magnum could come to the rescue. I really like how you've developed him here.
