HTM finds this annoying. He's been snubbed again. Hogan doesn't even work for the company anymore! He's all shook up about it.
All matches announced by Joel Gertner and officiated by Danny Davis.
Match: Steve Blackman w/ Captain Lou Albano vs. B. Brian Blair
"The Silent Assassin" Steve Blackman gives a demonstration of his martial arts abilities with his Kendo sticks before the show and dominates most of the match. B. Brian Blair eventually gets the drop on Blackman and begins making a comeback! Trying to help, Albano reaches in to trip up Blair; but ends up sending Steve stumbling down to the canvas instead! B. Brian Blair jumps into action and hits his opponent with a quick DDT and the cover! 1!... 2!...
3! Blair has done it! You'd think he won the lottery. Captain Lou can't believe what he did and attempts to help Steve Blackman to his feet, but he pushes Albano away and cracks him in the jaw with a superkick! Albano is out cold as "The Assassin" storms off. Buck Zumhoff is disgusted by this and rushes to the ring to help his Slammin' Saturdays co-host.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
After the break we're brought to the ECW September to Remember Control Center hosted by Eric Bischoff! The ECW President says that the all-star card is already shaping up to the extreme with two huge matches announced this past Wednesay as ECW Women's Champ "Gorgeous" Michele Starr is set to defend his belt against Jacqueline Moore and Lord William Regal will face Chris Jericho in a # 1 Contender's match for the ECW Title! The winner of which will face whoever is ECW Champ at this year's Wrestle Annual on December 1st! He then announces two more matches! Dean Malenko will defend his Light Heavyweight Title against Brian Christopher! And Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes will defend the Tag-Titles against The Ubermensch! After a short hiatus both Christopher and The Baron's boys will get their Title rematches!
Match: Rob Van Dam w/ David Prazak vs. Jesse Barr w/ Bob Orton & Black Bart
Jesse Barr holds his own against "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam early on with some minor outside interference from Bob Orton Jr. and Black Bart at ringside. Midway through the match after hitting the Rolling Thunder on Barr, Rob has the match all but one when Orton and Bart reach in and grabbing him by the legs pull him off their man! David Prazak gets Davis' attention which only serves to allow the cowboys to crotch RVD on the steel ringpost!
While RVD writhes in pain, armed only with his clipbard Prazak goes to give Orton a piece of his mind! Apparently Bob wants more than that and realizing he has bitten off more than he can chew; David retreats around the ring with Orton hot on his heels! Inside the ring Jesse makes the cover but only comes away with a nearfall. He keeps on Van Dam, punishing him until he whips Rob into the ropes and goes for a back body drop! RVD rolls over him, hits the ropes and comes soaring back with a springboard moonsault on the stunned Jesse Barr! Rob then heads up top and pointing to his shoulders gets the fans to chant his name before connecting with the 5-Star Frog Splash for the win!
On the outside meanwhile Orton and Bart have cornered Prazak who does his best to hide behind his clipboard. Lucky for him, RVD sees it and hitting the ropes to build momentum charges across the ring and nails the cowboys with a tope dive! He's up first and together he and Prazak head up the ramp.
A video clip featuring snippets from matches that took place this past Wednesday on the main show. We see Dean Malenko hit Doug Gilbert with a powerbomb off the second rope, Mongo Vyle do the Mongo Mash on B. Brian Blair, Randy Savage knock Barry Windham down an IQ point with a Piledriver, Chris Jericho lock Scott Taylor in the Walls of Jericho, Yoshihiro Tajiri introduce Buck Zumhoff to the Shining Wizard; and finally "Ravishing" Rick Rude defeated Erin O'Grady with the Rude Awakening. The ECW Wednesday Nights logo then appears.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Back from break "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase is in front of the ECW banner talking to Terri Runnels about his new clients who could only be brought in by someone with his connections. Cause as he will prove soon; EVERY man has their price.
We're then taken to a promo where two men are in silohette talking about the huge impact they're about to make on Eastern Championship Wrestling! The first man grunts and growls as he tells us how his domination on ECW is already written! It was written a long time ago! When the Warriors of old came down from the mountain high and smashed through the very earth to bring about the moon and the stars! When comets landed and took the form of the chosen few! Those who will dominate! Those who will rule!
The second man lets out a howl! He says that was a howl for ECW! A howl for vengeance! Because he's coming to ECW for one very specific reason! Because someone is going to get stung! Someone is going to get crippled! He says he has a score to settle and that if we thought we saw bloodshed at Showdown in Charlotte we'd better prepare ourselves. Because when he makes his debut in Eastern Championship we'll know what bloodshed really is! He then lets out another howl.
Match: Tiffany vs. Debbie Combs
While Tiffany and "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs have a good back and forth battle, a split screen comes up where the ECW Women's Champ "Gorgeous" Michele Starr cuts a promo complaining about how Jacqueline attacked him last week! The bitch! She has a beating coming her way and that's just what ECW's favorite diva "The Gorgeous One" plans to give her in two weeks at September to Remember! Tiffany defeats Debbie Combs via the Iconoclasm off the top.
After the match we're taken back stage for Buck Zumhoff's "Rock 'N Rolling" segment where he invites us to party with the number 1 billboard rock hit this past week; Pearl Jam with "Who You Are!"
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Zumhoff and HTM welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's Main Event! They mostly talk about "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit's brutal battle with Sting at the ECW/WCW joint PPV Showdown in Charlotte and how he attacked Randy Savage after his match this past Wednesday. Honky uses this as a segue to congratulate Buck himself for making it onto the highlight reel from Wednesday night again. Buck tells him to shut up.
Gertner: The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Chicago, Illinois weighing 215 lbs.; he is Ace Steel!
Steel comes down to the ring and Honky says this kid is stupid for even showing up for tonight's match. That'd he'd be better off stepping in front of a freight train.
Gertner: And introducing his challenger tonight from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada weighing 234 lbs.; he is "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit!
Main Event: Chris Benoit vs. Ace Steel
Chris Benoit looks to be in a foul mood as usual as he removes his sunglasses and trenchoat inside the ring. Ace Steel shows some guts in attacking Benoit at the start of the match, but he quickly spills them too as "The Crippler" beats him about the ring.
During the match there's a split screen where "Macho Man" Randy Savage talks about Benoit. He says if he wants some, he's gonna get some! Cause it's gonna be "Macho Man" against "The Canadian Crippler" at September to Remember! Oooooh Yeah! Benoit meanwhile has busted Steel open with a vicious headbutt. Though Ace did get in sporadic offense, he mostly got dominated by Chris Benoit who ends the match with three consecutive German Suplexes; bridging the third for the win.
Lights Fade.
