Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader both made weight heading into their Main Event tomorrow night from Brazil. Like most of the other Brazil TV cards this one features top Brazilian prospects on the Prelim's and first few main card fights. I'm most excited about Jacare vs. Yushin Okami. Jacare is one of the top submission grapplers of our time, and has turned into a beast with KO power in both hands. Yushin Okami is far and away his toughest challenge to date. Even his losses weren't to guys as good as Okami. Yushin might be the biggest middleweight in the UFC and has phenomenal balance. High level Judokan, but can be finished by guys with power.
The actual best flyweight in the world Joseph Benavidez is taking on the only top flyweight contender Jussier da Silva, nobody else in this division can make an argument at a title shot more than the winner of this fight. Could very well end up a boring fight though, which is why a World Title eliminator is 3rd from the top on a free TV card, but I don't think it will happen. Team Alpha Male have been unstoppable, wrecking ball, forces of nature since Bang Ludwig became their head coach. All of the Alpha Male wrestlers have displayed significant improvements in their striking, and Benavidez had the best boxing of the bunch before Bang came in.

I think I'm more excited about the season of TUF, but that may disappear if the premiere sucks.

Completely agree. Bader vs. Teixeira is a good fight, Jacare vs. Okami is a really interesting fight also... To hardcore fans. They should be on PPV, not free TV. I think the feeling was that TUF would be the draw and they could use this opportunity to elevate/showcase Teixeira, Jacare's UFC profile, etc. But there is a reason why they were thisclose to bumping to a smaller building in Brazil, it's a B- card.
No way Ronda and Meisha disappoint, right? Rousey has too much Betty Badass in her, and I think the heat between these two ladies is very real. Ariel Helwani (the top MMA reporter in the biz, and Paul Heyman/CM Punk guy) says that Ronda and Cupcake's dynamic was as heated as anything since Rashad/Rampage. But he is also a company guy now, working UFC Tonight and all of those Fox Sports 2 shows. One thing we've found out in recent years though is that just having Coaches at each other's throats isn't enough to make a season strong. The fighters and fights have to stand out as well.
I think the girls will steal the show honestly. Like they do on MMA cards in every organization. The girls put on more entertaining fights, and I think that will carry the season.
So Raj, it looks like it's just you and me. What about the Aussie, Shake? He might not be into the scripted stuff, I dunno. They confirmed that BIG FREAKIN FOOT VS MARK EFFIN HUNT is going to headline the next UFC in Australia! That's a sick fight, they will sell out anyplace they want down under with that fight I would think.

I think the heat between Tate and Rousey is legit. Hell, Tate was so determined not to tap out in the first fight that Rousey almost took her arm off for a trophy. She did not want to lose to Miss Arm-Bar. This will be the first season I watch since the Rampage-Sugar season.

You didn't watch Chael's season? Dude, they got a new director and production for the series that is stellar! The show looks much better now since the move to Fox. And yea man I watched all of Rousey's strikeforce fights, and Meisha is the toughest chic not named Ronda Rousey I've seen. That armbar was SICK and she was refusing to quit. Thank hey-zeus we had a ref who knew what they were seeing cause that could have gotten real ugly.
There is a lot to like about this season of TUF. Ronda and Meisha being uber bitches, and chics fighting all season are the top selling points for me. Seriously, the chics will probably all get UFC contracts as thin as they are at the moment, but each win on the show will essentially be a bump in pay, right? Like put them in a whole nother tax bracket. Like Girilla parlaying her fight with Rousey into more success, these girls have a very real spot they are competing for. I think the fights will be as good as any season they've had in years.

Great KO by Bagautinov, although he screwed up his celebratory backflip afterwards.

I chuckled at that. Benavidez's hands looked good. I think he will stop Mighty Mouse. Jacare vs. Okami is up next, I'm hoping for a brilliant, grappling chess match. I think Okami is a very live dog at -240 last I saw the line.

Started reading and missed most of the card, but caught the main event KO. Very nice 3 minutes of action.

Yea I couldn't have been more wrong on Jacare vs. Okami, Souza finished Okami with strikes in the first round. It's scary how much power he has. The Chuck Liddell factor, nobody could take Chuck down, nobody wants to take Jacare down, but he can knock you TFO at any second of the fight. Main Event was great, 3 minutes of fighting. It was a fight, not a mixed martial arts competition, which is refreshing to see.
