Solie and Reynolds open the show and welcome us to the James L Knight Center in Miami, Florida and AAW SUNDAY NIGHT!
On tonight’s program, we’ll see Boris Malenko’s new team of the Masked Superstar and Masa Saito in action! Steve Williams and Jim Neidhart will be here! Two titles will be on the line as Paul Orndorff defends the American title, and Jimmy Garvin defends his newly-won Florida TV title!
And, our feature bout will see the Soulman, Rocky Johnson, team up with Wahoo McDaniel to face Bobby Heenan’s duo of Rick Rude and Gino Hernandez!
Speaking of Jimmy Garvin and the Florida TV title, he won the belt by defeating Barry Windham last week. Let’s take a look at how that match played out.
VTR: Garvin vs Windham, JIP:
Early on, Windham seems to have an answer for everything Garvin tries, and it looks like Windham is on his way to victory. But, when the two men brawl outside the ring, Precious gets involved, and sprays hairspray into Windham’s face!
Windham, blinded, stumbles around ringside, while Garvin slides back into the ring. The referee reaches the count of 10, with Windham still blinded outside the ring, and declares Garvin the winner and the first AAW Florida TV champion!
Garvin and Precious celebrate with the belt, as Windham tries to find his way to the back, still rubbing his eyes.
END VTR
Garvin will defend that title here tonight against El Cubano David Sierra, while Barry Windham is still having some issues with his vision and hasn’t yet been cleared to wrestle.
Solie and Reynolds are joined by Barry Windham.
Windham says that as far as he’s concerned, Jimmy Garvin stole the match and the belt from him, and he can’t wait to get back in the ring with Garvin and take the TV title!
THE MASKED SUPERSTAR & MR. SAITO (w/ Boris Malenko) beat NICK DECARLO & BOB MARCUS. DeCarlo and Marcus put up a valiant effort, but the Superstar and Mr. Torture are just too much for them. Superstar gets the win after locking Marcus in the Cobra Clutch.
BRAD ARMSTRONG & MR. OLYMPIA & JAY YOUNGBLOOD beat THUNDERFOOT & THE RUSSIAN DESTROYER & VIC RAIN. The heel trio enjoy an early advantage, as they keep Armstrong isolated in their corner. The momentum shifts, though, when Armstrong makes the hot tag to Jay Youngblood, who comes in and cleans house. Youngblood, Armstrong and Olympia control the next few minutes, with Youngblood connecting with a crossbody off the top rope onto Rain for the pinfall victory.
STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS & JIM “ANVIL” NEIDHART beat KOKO WARE & BUCK ZUMHOFF. Doc and Neidhart get the win after Anvil KO’s Zumhoff with a discus punch.
After the match, Doc and Anvil toss Koko out of the ring, and continue to assault Zumhoff. Williams picks Buck up off the mat, then puts him right back down with a brutal Oklahoma Stampede.
On commentary, Solie says that last week, Doc and Anvil said they would start hurting people unless the promotion gave them a shot at the American tag titles, and it looks like they’re true to their word!
Suddenly, the American tag champs The Fantastics hit the ring! Rogers and Fulton have seen enough, and decide to do something about it!
Fulton and Rogers brawl all over the place with Anvil and Doc, and the two teams eventually brawl down the aisle and out of sight.
Ken Resnick is standing by with Prof. Boris Malenko. Resnick says that last week, Malenko introduced the first two wrestlers in his stable, the Masked Superstar and Mr. Torture Masa Saito.
Malenko says that those two alone are the cause of plenty of sleepless nights for the other wrestlers here in Florida, and all around the country. He says the rest of the AAW roster are breaking out in a cold sweat, knowing that they could find themselves in the sights of him and his men!
But, Malenko says that he’s not done yet, he’s gone out and found another wrestler to manage . . . a man that, while he has just started his pro career, has been improving by leaps and bounds, and is a future world champion.
Steve Borden walks into the shot, but now he’s wearing black trunks and black shirt, with black facepaint.
Malenko says that the Steve Borden the fans have been watching these past few months is no more . . . this is STING!!!
ICEMAN KING PARSONS beats ROGER KIRBY. Parson gets the win by pinfall after the Butt-Butt.
AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
“MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF (w/ Bobby Heenan) beats BARRY HOROWITZ. The youngster Horowitz gets the opportunity of a lifetime here, as he faces Paul Orndorff for the American title. However, things don’t go as planned for Horowitz, as Orndorff gets the win after dropping Barry on his head with a Piledriver.
FLORIDA TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP:
JIMMY GARVIN (champion) (w/ Precious) beats “EL CUBANO” DAVID SIERRA. Sierra comes to the ring first, playing to the Cuban-American fans, waving a Cuban flag as he makes his way down the aisle. Sierra gives Garvin all he can handle early on, but Precious makes the difference, tripping Sierra as he runs the ropes. This gives Garvin the opportunity to take control of the match, and he wears Sierra down before dropping him with a vicious Brainbuster for the pinfall victory.
Solie and Reynolds hype the shows coming up this week for All-American Wrestling:
Tonight at the Eddie Graham Sports Stadium in Orlando!
Tuesday night, April 23, at the USF SunDome in Tampa!
Wednesday night, April 24, right here at the James L Knight Center in Miami, with matches being taped for television, and a huge non-televised card for the fans in attendance!

WAHOO MCDANIEL & “SOULMAN” ROCKY JOHNSON defeat “RAVISHING” RICK RUDE & “GORGEOUS” GINO HERNANDEZ (w/ Bobby Heenan) by DISQUALIFICATION. Late in the match, Wahoo has the upper hand, but as he drops Hernandez with a big Tomahawk chop, Paul Orndorff hits the ring! Orndorff attacks Wahoo, causing the DQ, but Wahoo and Rocky are able to turn the tables, and they clear the Heenan Family from the ring as the show comes to an end.
Solie and Reynolds wrap things up, and Solie hypes next week’s show.
So long from the Sunshine state!
