WWA Wrestling taped at WTBS Channel 17 Studios Saturday morning Feb. 23, 1985.
WWA Championship Wrestling opens with a instrumental musical introduction featuring clips well known wrestling stars (Blackjack Mulligan, Brisco Brothers, Mongolian Stomper, Billy Robinson, the Spoiler and others) over the years. We join the announcing team of play-by-play announcer Les Thatcher, color commentator Bob Caudle and interviewer Barbara Clary who welcome wrestling fans to the debut hour of World Wrestling Association's tv program 'World's Finest Wrestling'. Les introduces the fans to the WWA President/Commissioner the legendary Lou Thesz. Thesz address the fans.
Thesz: "I am very honored to have been appointed as the President/Commissioner of the new World Wrestling Association. I take my job seriously & promise to bring the finest professional wrestling to the fans across the United States. For the fans who may not be aware, at the beginning of 1984, the world of professional wrestling was changed forever by the banishment of the old territory system with new more innovative groups starting up across this country. The WWA has now officially entered into the new world of professional wrestling. The WWA will recognize a World's Heavyweight Champion, World's Tag Team Champions and World's Junior Heavyweight Champion. Those titles will be determined the weekend of March 9-10. Saturday night in Atlanta, Ga. and Sunday night in Charlotte, North Carolina.
With several decades of wrestling experience under my belt, I plan to bring competitive competition between the young guys starting out as well as the more established superstars in this business. Les & Bob echo the remarks made by Lou Thesz as they run down some of the names of the wrestlers appearing on today's show including Larry Cameron w/Dark Journey, Akira Maeda w/Hiro Matsuda, the Mongolian Stomper w/Rock Hunter, the Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn & Stan Lane) and Blackjack Mulligan in the main event.
Thatcher says lets go to the ring for introductions for the first match of today with our ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta.
Single Match. 'Lethal' Larry Cameron w/valet Dark Journey beat George South with a power slam. (7:54).
Following the match, Barbara speaks with Cameron who makes it know he is going to be the first WWA World's Heavyweight Champ. DJ smiles with her approval.

Single Match. Akira Maeda w/mgr. Hiro Matsuda defeated high-flying veteran Mike Jackson with the Crossface Chickenwing. (5:01).
Matsuda with Maeda talk with Barbara ringside. Matsuda says Maeda is a superstar in Japan and will be the man to win the World's Junior Heavyweight Title in the tournament coming up.
Commercial break includes wrestler interview with the Beautiful Batten Twins (Bart & Brad) with valet Angel. They are going to bring class to the tag team scene and will be the first World's Tag Team Champions.
Pre-match interview ringside as Barbara interviews manger Rock Hunter and his stable of the Mongolian Stomper and Joe Leduc. Hunter says he wants the tag team belts. The Stomper & Leduc will bring them to the Rock Hunter Organization.
Single Match. The Mongolian Stomper w/mgr. Rock Hunter pinned Don Kernodle following the sleeper. (8:41).
Commercial break includes wrestler interview with Jack & Jerry Brisco on the World's Tag Team Tournament. The Briscos say they have done it all and plan on winning that tourney.
4 Man Tag Team Match. The Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn & Stan Lane) beat the Kelly Twins (Mike & Pat). (7:25). Steve gets the pinfall on Mike for the victory in a fast-paced match.
Following the match, Barbara comes ringside to interview the Fabs about their goals in the WWA.
Commercial break includes wrestler interview with veteran English star Billy Robinson who talks about giving his best effort to becoming the World's Heavyweight Champion
Single Match. Blackjack Mulligan beat Konga the Barbarian by disq. when Killer Kahn & mgr. Percy Pringle III attack Mulligan. Mulligan overcame the younger Barbarian to get the Claw on when Kahn & Pringle jumped in for a wild beatdown until help arrived from the dressing room.
Commercial break includes wrestler interview with Mr. Wrestlng II. The popular masked man speaks on evening some scores with old rivals as well as going after the World's Heavyweight Championship.
We return to the desk where Les, Bob & Barbara are joined by an angry Blackjack who challenges Pringle and any of his men to get back into the ring with him next week. The trio then run down the action on today's show. They remind that fans that next week for exciting World's Finest Wrestling.
