JACK REYNOLDS and TITO MONTEZ are standing in front of the NAWF logo.
Reynolds and Montez welcome us to this week’s episode of “Outlaw Championship Wrestling”!
Reynolds says that last week, Austin Idol and Paul Orndorff went one-on-one in our main event, with the winner becoming the first NAWF North American champion. However, TV time ran out before either man could get the win. So we don’t have a North American champion, but the NAWF has signed a rematch between Idol and Orndorff tonight in Albuquerque, and the winner will be declared the North American champ!
Montez says that the Albuquerque fans will definitely want to be at the Tingley Coliseum tonight to see that!
At that point, “the Universal Hearthrob” Austin Idol makes his way out. Reynolds says that, tonight in Albuquerque, Idol has the opportunity to become North American champion if he can beat Paul Orndorff.
Idol says of course he can beat Paul Orndorff! The only reason he’s not standing here right now as North American champion is because the TV time ran out last week. Idol says Orndorff better get ready, because he’s in for the fight of his life tonight in Albuquerque!
This brings Bobby Heenan and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff out to the announce area.
Heenan is still upset about the fact that the NAWF didn’t just give the North American title to Orndorff.
Orndorff says Idol should consider himself lucky that he’s even getting this match, there are plenty of wrestlers who are far more deserving. Orndorff says Idol’s just a cheap imitation of “Mr. Wonderful”, he’s just a Paul Orndorff wannabe, and Orndorff’s going to prove it to everyone by whupping Idol tonight and becoming the North American champ! Then Idol can go to the back of the line, where he belongs, and maybe someday he’ll work his way up to another shot at the belt!
Idol and Orndorff stand nose to nose before referees and security personnel come out and separate them.
After Idol and Orndorff leave, Reynolds says that they will meet tonight at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, for the top title in the NAWF, the North American championship!
BARRY WINDHAM beats DUSTY WOLFE. The youngster from Sweetwater, Texas makes his NAWF here, as he makes short work of Wolfe, putting him away with a Bulldog.
After the match, Tito Montez joins Windham at ringside. Montez says that Windham looked very impressive in his NAWF debut.
Windham says that he’s happy to be here in the NAWF. He says that he grew up in this area, in Sweetwater, and his family has been in the Southwest for generations. He says that he’s home! He says that these are his people, and he hopes they’ll come out and support him whenever he’s wrestling.
ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER (w/ Bobby Heenan) beats FRANKIE WILLIAMS. Abby tears Williams apart, and gets the pinfall after hitting the Butcher’s Axe elbowdrop. After getting his hand raised, Abby hits another elbowdrop on his fallen opponent.
Tito Montez is standing by with The Fantastics: Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers. Montez says that last week, the Fantastics issued a challenge to the North American tag team champs the Freebirds. Let’s take a look at what went down in that match.
VTR: Freebirds vs Fantastics, JIP, 2-16-85:
Hayes and Gordy find themselves on the offensive for the first few minutes, until Gordy is able to turn the tables on Rogers, and the ‘Birds then isolate him in their corner. The Freebirds control the match for the next few minutes, working over Rogers in their corner, but when Rogers makes the hot tag to Fulton, he comes in and cleans house!
Fulton works over Michael Hayes for the next few minutes, but Terry Gordy comes in as Fulton runs the ropes, and then nearly turns Fulton inside out with a vicious lariat! This gives the advantage back to the Freebirds, and they keep Fulton in their corner, double-teaming him every chance they get.
It looks like the ‘Birds are on their way to victory, but Fulton somehow manages a comeback, ducking under a clothesline from Gordy, then connecting on a clothesline of his own. Fulton makes a mad dash for his corner, and tags in Rogers, who tears into Gordy. When Hayes comes in to help Gordy, Fulton comes back in, and they hit him with a double dropkick, sending Hayes tumbling through the ropes and to the floor. The Fantastics then hit a double dropkick on Gordy, followed by the Rocket Launcher, with Rogers then covering Gordy for the 1, 2, 3!
The Fantastics have defeated the Freebirds in an impromptu, non-title match!
END VTR
Tommy Rogers says that ever since he and Fulton teamed up as the Fantastics, they’ve had one goal, to work their way to the top, to be the very best tag team in the world! He says that last week, they got one step closer to achieving that goal when they beat the North American tag team champs, the number one team in wrestling today.
Bobby Fulton says that they’ve proven tha they can beat the ‘Birds, and now they’re asking the NAWF to give them a shot at the belts! He says that he knows they can beat them again, when the belts are on the line, and with the support of all these great fans, they can’t lose!
“MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF (w/ Bobby Heenan) beats MANNY VILLALOBOS. Orndorff makes quick work of Villalobos, dropping him on his head with the Piledriver for the 1, 2, 3.
“THE UNIVERSAL HEARTHROB” AUSTIN IDOL beats THE MASKED TERRORIST. Idol wears the masked man down, working on his knee, and quickly locks on the Las Vegas Leglock for the submission victory.
Tito Montez is with the North American tag team champions The Fabulous Freebirds: Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy. Montez says that earlier, we saw the footage from last week, and we heard from the team that beat Hayes and Gordy in a non-title match, the Fantastics.
Hayes says that these nobodies, two chippendale wannabe’s, come out here, they issue a challenge and they upset the Freebirds in a HUGE fluke, and now they think they can take the tag team titles from him and Gordy? He says that they may call themselves the Fantastics, but they’re nothing compared to the Fabulous Freebirds!
Gordy says that the Fantastics got lucky, he won’t deny that, but if he and Hayes had time to prepare for ‘em, the result would have been a lot different! He says that now they’re on the Freebirds radar, and they’re gonna go down, just like every other team that has stepped into the ring with the Fabulous Freebirds!

DYNAMITE KID beats MARK YOUNGBLOOD. Youngblood asked for this match after DK injured his brother Jay, following the Losers Split Up match between the Youngbloods and British Bruisers. Youngblood is out for revenge, and gives DK a tough fight, but in the end, DK gets the win after a snap suplex and diving headbutt from the top rope for the 1, 2, 3.
Reynolds and Montez wrap things up, and remind the fans in Albuquerque and surrounding areas of the big show tonight at the Tingley Coliseum, where Austin Idol and Paul Orndorff will meet to crown the first NAWF North American champion!
