“CONTINENTAL WRESTLING WILDFIRE”
Taped: February 20, 1985 @ 6 PM Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama
Broadcast: February 23, 1985 at various times on various stations in Alabama
Announcers: Charlie Platt, Rick Stewart
Referee: Pee Wee Anderson
Platt and Stewart welcome the fans to the show.
A video shows Tony Atlas and Scott Casey getting carted off on stretchers after being injured in a six man match with the Stud Stable last week. Ron Fuller, Randy Rose, Pat Rose, and The Flame are out to gloat. Fuller says it is time for everyone to acknowledge that his men are here in CWS to stay and everybody else is here to play.
The Commissioner of Continental Wrestling Showcase, The Wrestling Pro, comes out. He has to endure some taunting from Randy Rose before getting down to business. Tony Atlas and Scott Casey have, indeed, been injured and are out of CWS. But, the Stud Stable will have new challengers for sure. Pro tells Fuller that he has personally signed a young lion to take Atlas’s spot against Fuler and the so-called Tennessee Stud better be ready.
Turning his attention to The Flame, with Casey out , there has to be a new number one contender for that Continental Heavyweight belt. A Battle Royal will take place today and that winner will be the new number one contender. Flame doesn’t like that but Fuller calms him down. He already has a plan for any outcome. Again, Randy Rose wants to know “what about me?” Pro says nothing and leaves. Rose is infuriated but The Stable departs, as well.
Platt says for everyone to stay tuned.
BREAK
*Eddie Gilbert/Rip Rogers w/Sunshine b. Ron Ritchie/Jerry Grey
Gilbert, Rogers, and Sunshine wait for Stewart to get into the ring. Gilbert, with his Showcase TV belt slung over his shoulder, says it is time for the world to see what they have waited SO LONG for: the first appearance of Hot Stuff International. A group of wrestlers come through the interview curtain. Sunshine introduces them.
ARN ANDERSON, MATT BORNE, and “THE DIRTY WHITE BOY” TONY ANTHONY.
Anderson and Borne are out in stylish fedoras. The lovely lady says they will be called Destruction, Inc. They will show Nick Kiniski and Kevin Kelly what it truly means to be the best tag team in the business. Tony Anthony will be our ultimate enforcer. Anthony chimes in, thanking Gilbert and Sunshine for the chance to “go after one particular guy first”. Gilbert says that Rip Rogers is “pound for the pound the best around” and the only other thing you have to say is “Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert”. Stewart confirms Borne, Anderson, and Anthony will be in the Battle Royal later.
Gilbert tells Stewart to “quit ogling Sunshine, she isn’t your type”, as the entourage leaves. PLatt admits this group is formidable, as he calls for the commercial break.
BREAK
Charlie Platt start the next segment with an announcement from the desk. No one has been able to reach Tojo Yamamoto. Rumor is that he has been “called to face Mother Russia in person” for Smirnoff and Gordienko losing the Coward Waves the Flag match. Stewart, to back that assumption up, says that those three and Phil Hickerson and Dirty Rhodes have left CWS.
*John Tatum/Jack Victory w/Playboy Christopher Love b. The Invaders
All three men are wearing neon colored boas. Christopher Love says that they have wanted to enter the wars here in CWS but with goons like Tojo and “his boys” around, they had to bide their time. But, with that mental midget getting out of the heat of the kitchen, it is time for us to shine.
BREAK
*The Dream Machine b. Rick McCord
Porkchop Cash comes out to question Machine, in the ring, after the match. He saw that Dream Machine stepped away from the beating The Devil’s Duo was giving him last week. Cash wants to know if “his old friend is back”. Dream takes the mike and says the mask under the mask deal was all Izzy Slapowitz’s idea. It was a coward’s way out, he admits. But, he had to do it, as there was his family to consider. Machine wonders if Slapowitz isn’t the leader he thought he was.
Cash extends his hand, saying it is good to have his friend back. Machine says he isn’t there, yet, turns his back, and leaves. Cash smiles, saying he knew this was going on and he is willing to wait.
BREAK
*Randy Rose w/Ron Fuller b. Frank Monte
Rose has Monte in a sleeper to win but refuses to wake up Monte afterwards. Refusing to obey the instructions of Weathers brings The Wrestling Pro back out. Eventually, Rose slaps the back of Monte to bring him around. He, then, asks Pro to “drop that responsibility excuse and get back in the ring”. Talking to Platt, Pro says that offer is mighty tempting but there is the whole promotion to think about.

BATTLE ROYAL FOR THE NUMBER ONE CONTENDER TO THE CONTINENTAL TITLE
Ron Fuller comes out for guest commentary. He has a large briefcase with him.
PARTICIPANTS:
Arn Anderson, Matt Borne, Steve Doll, Bobby Jaggers, Tony Anthony, Kevin Kelly, Nick Kiniski, Tom Pritchard, Scott Hall, Jesse Barr, Mike Davis. Jeff Sword, Doug Vines, Ron Starr
HIGHLIGHTS:
*Pritchard goes right after Anthony, as the bell rings. They go over the top rope to get at each other. Anthony gets a board from under the announce desk and clobbers Prtichard with it.
*Anderson and Borne are a good team here but both are eliminated by big kicks from Kevin Kelly. Arn and Matt stay out to pull the ropes down to get Nick and Kevin gone from the match.
*Scott Hall eliminates Jeff Sword, Doug Vines, Ron Starr, Steve Doll, and Mike Davis. Both Platt and Stewart really put that over. Davis stops by the desk and wonders why the fans were cheering when he was eliminated.
*Barr and Jaggers team up to throw Hall over. Going by the desk on his way out, Hall points to Fuller. Platt says he talked to Pro earlier. Scott Hall will be the new young lion facing Ron Fuller. Fuller seems taken aback.
*Jaggers and Barr wrestle clean for several minutes. Both announcers talk about Barr’s extensive amateur accomplishments. Eventually, Barr redirects the momentum of a charging Jaggers for a toss over the top rope.
JESSE BARR WINS THE NUMBER ONE CONTENDER BATTLE ROYAL.
Fuller opens up the briefcase, at the desk. It is filled with money, $50,000 according to Fuller. It is the money Tony Atlas turned down to join The Stud Stable. Maybe Barr will listen more and make a better decision than Atlas did next week.
Platt and Stewart tells the fans not to miss that.
