Championship Wrestling from Houston regrets to announce that due to a technical glitch, TV tapings recorded on 11/19, 26,12/3, 12/10, and 12/17 have been erased during their cycle throughout the territory.
We are currently seeking out VCR/Betamax owners throughout the TV coverage area to see if they might have videotaped the program and if so, we might be able to bring full descriptions to you.
In their stead we bring the following TV summary for December 1984 for Championship Wrestling from Houston to you. The December 25 card in New Orleans will be described here in its full entirety:
GREG VALENTINE with manager FABULOUS MOOLAH ran roughshod over the territory, besting DJ Peterson, Johnny Rich, HillBilly Jim, and Rick McGraw with the figure four leglock. Bob Geigel announced that the WWU Championship Committee voted Valentine the #1 contender to the Undisputed World title held by Dick Murdoch, with the match scheduled for Christmas Night in New Orleans at the SuperDome. Meanwhile, Dick Murdoch resumed a low profile, presumably to rest for the cataclysmic title match after a brutal affair v Kendo Nagasaki Thanksgiving Night in Houston.
NIKOLAI VOLKOFF AND BARON VON RASCHKE successfully retained the World Tag team titles versus the youngsters SAM HOUSTON AND MARK VAN HALEN in Houston in controversial fashion. Both teams rolled over TV opponents with the fans demanding justice for Sam and MVH, and finally a deal was brokered for Christmas Night: Volkoff and Raschke would put the belts on the line but if they won, Sam and Mark would have to kiss the USSR flag! In their rush to sign the deal, the heels didn’t realize that LARRY SHARPE WOULD BE BANNED FROM RINGSIDE!
Fans continued to be horrified at once popular Southwest Champion BOB SWEETAN’s aggressive attitude towards his opponents in the ring, including Rick McGraw and DJ Peterson, as well as getting into Bill Watts face! Sweetan declared his arch enemy, former champion BUDDY ROBERTS and BABY DOLL as “trash” and challenged Buddy to a Dumpster Match Dec 25 in New Orleans. This was a callback to Sweetan ignominiously dumping Baby Doll into a trash dumpster at the end of their last match in New Orleans this past summer. Roberts immediately accepts!
MARK LEWIN + KILLER BROOKS laugh it up as they brag about their win v Tiger Conway Jr and his last opponent. For the third time, Tiger promises a “mystery” tag team partner Dec 25 that will finally help him defeat Lewin and Brooks! Fans, I have it on GOOD AUTHORITY Lewin and Brooks won’t be laughing for long when they find out who Brooks brings to the Big Easy Christmas Night!
WENDELL COOLEY has won the WWU World Junior Heavyweight title in Japan, and will accept the challenge of SHANE DOUGLAS in New Orleans.
ALSO DEC 25TH:
MARTIAL ARTS MASTER KENDO NAGASAKI
V
THE SHEIK
END OF YEAR CHRISTMAS PAYOFF MATCH
DJ PETERSON + JIM POWERS + RICK MCGRAW
V
BUTCHER VACHON + IRON MIKE SHARPE +MISTER FUJI
