“CONTINENTAL WRESTLING WILDFIRE"
Taped: January 16, 1985 Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama @ 6 PM
Broadcast: January 19, 1985 at various times on TV stations in Alabama
Announcers: Charlie Platt, Rick Stewart
Referee: Pee Wee Anderson
Charlie and Rick welsome the fans to the program. Platt announces that the next big card for Continental Wrestling Showcase will take place on February 10 and be called St. Valentine’s Day Showdown. It will take place at the legendary Houston County Farm Center in Dothan, Alabama. Stuart mentions that all the CWS titles will be up for grabs.
BREAK
Match One:
Jeff Sword w/Izzy Slapowitz b. Tommy Lane
Slapowitz manages to pass his “good book” to Sword and goes right to distracting Anderson. Sword bashes Lane with it to allow the pinfall. Stuart observes that something must be done to neutralize the effects of Slapowitz and that book.
BREAK
Match Two:
Porkchop Cash b. Kurt Von Hess
Cash talks to Platt at ringside. They review clips from last week’s show where Dream Machine cut the hair of Cash. Porkchop wonders out loud if his old friend might be too far gone. He proposes a Hair vs. Mask match for St. Valentine’s Showdown.
BREAK
Match Three:
The Flame b. Steve Pardee
Talking to Stuart, at the desk, Flame says that Scott Casey getting upset about having his Gene Autry cowboy hat torn to shreds is “a joke”. The only thing that is real and worth getting concerned about is the Continental Heavyweight Title, which will stay in the hands of “the greatest masked wrestler in pro wrestling history”. Casey would do better focusing on that.
BREAK
Match Four:
Kevin Kelly w/Sunshine b. Virgil-San w/Tojo Yamamoto
Yamamoto hits his own man by mistake with his Japanese flag when he pays too much attention to “the beautiful valet in Kelly’s corner” Tojo is livid with the results. He says that he wants some kind of match to get rid of “the Great American Bimbo”. Sunshine says she has just the stipulation in mind. At St. Valentine’s Showdown, if Tojo’s men win, then Sunshine will “hit the bricks”.
Saying Banzai and Virgil-San will prevail, he quickly agrees to the match. Nick Kiniski brings out a contract and Tojo signs it for “his men”. Before Tojo departs. Sunshine asks him to hold up. There is another stip. If Kelly and Kiniski win, Sunshine gets five minutes with Tojo with both hands tied behind his back. Tojo says no but both Kelly Kiniski hold up the contract and remind the manager of what he said last week. Sunshine leads the crowd in cheers, as the show goes to break.
Match Five:
Scott/Steve/Bob Armstrong
Vs.
Pat Rose/Randy Rose/Roy Lee Welch w/Ron Fuller
This match is intense with the end coming when Welch hits Scott Armstrong with one of the tag belts. With everybody else fighting on the floor, Roy Lee can just wait for Scott to get up. SUPERKICK. Pinfall.
The Stud Stable celebrates like they have won the World Series or The Super Bowl. Randy Rose is demanding The Wrestling Pro “get out here”. The Commish does come out but quickly puts Randy “in his place”. He says that it took “a belt from a belt” to get The Stable a win. Well, he will “accommodate your loud mouth, Rose”. On February 10, there will be a Showcase Tag Title match between The Roses and The Armstrongs. But, there will be leather belts in each corner and they can be used. In the ring, Scott, Bob, and Steve have their belts off, smacking them in their hands like they are ready to go. Ron Fuller says it is on. The Roses seem “not to be so sure”, now.
Rick and Charlie sign off.
