Platt mentions that several wrestlers are entered in multiple tournaments. That just goes along with the CWS mantra that the sky's the limit for those who want to work as hard as they can toward a goal. Stuart brings up that the semifinals and finals will be on Christmas Night and New Year’s Eve in Huntsville and Mobile. Both big cards will be televised live on CMT.
Platt remarks that the first round matches will take place on the TV programs leading up to Huntsville and Mobile. That first round action starts next.
BREAK
*SHOWCASE TV TITLE: FIRST ROUND
Chris Colt w/Izzy Slapowitz defeats Davey Rich
During the match, Slapowitz comes out and chants during Colt’s down times. Colt becomes more intense and more brutal, seeming to draw energy from the chants. Referee Tommy Weathers has trouble getting Colt to break the camel clutch that gets him the submission win. Stuart says he has a very weird feeling about Colt as a competitor.
BREAK
*Nick Kiniski w/Sunshine b. Keith Larson
Stuart talks to the winners at ringside. Tojo Yamamoto comes out, saying he wants to apologize to Sunshine for his horrible remarks of the past. Nick doesn’t buy it but the lady gives Tojo the benefit of the doubt. Tojo presents Sunshine with a gift. She unwraps it to reveal….
A FRYING PAN.
Tojo tells Sunshine to “go home and cook”. Kiniski snatches the pan and almost clobbers Tojo with it before the manager scampers away. Sunshine apologizes to all the girls out there. Guys like Tojo Yamamoto have to be taught a lesson the hard way, it seems
BREAK
*Dream Machine/Roy Lee Welch defeat Scott Armstrong/Porkchop Cash
Not much tagging goes on in this match. Dream Machine and Cash fight all over the ring area and head to the back, eventually. The ruckus causes Weathers not to see Welch clobber Scott with his “King of Wrestling” crown. Welch slides the prop under the bottom rope, as he gets the three count. Welch doesn’t stop by the desk, as Armstrong doesn’t take long to recover.
BREAK
*Rip Rogers b. Angelo Mosca, Jr.
Talking to Stuart in the ring, Rogers says he will have no trouble “winning multiple belts” with him being one of the wrestlers entered in more than one holiday tourney. Ask any woman in the “Continental house show loop”. He can “stand up to the heated action all night long”. Stuart doesn’t want to hear any of that and quickly closes the segment.
BREAK
CONTINENTAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: FIRST ROUND
Ron Fuller vs. Scott Casey
This one is nip and tuck until Tony Atlas, who Fuller attacked last week, comes down. He observes with his arms folded until Fuller bulldogs Casey for a potential win. Then, Atlas yells something at Fuller. Ringsiders will later say the remark was not complimentary about “Fuller’s lineage”. Fuller reaches for Atlas through the ropes. Casey is able to get in behind and schoolboy his opponent for three. Fuller pleads his case to Weathers, as Casey and Atlas depart.
Platt and Stuart close out the program.
