“CONTINENTAL WRESTLING SHOWCASE on CMT”
Taped: November 21, 1984 @ Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama
Broadcast: November 25. 1984 @ 8 PM on COUNTRY MUSIC TELEVISION
Announcers: Charlie Platt, Corey Maclin
Referee: Pee Wee Anderson
Lee Greenwood welcomes the fans to more great CWS action right here on COUNTRY MUSIC TELEVISION.
Charlie Platt and Corey Maclin also welcome the fans to the program.
Highlights from the November 24 episode of “Continental Wrestling Wildfire” air. They focus on:
*Scott Armstrong winning a match and commenting on possibly facing Roy Lee Welch in the Showcase Junior Heavyweight Tournament in Huntsville on Christmas Night.
*After The Flame and Ron Fuller win a tag match, Fuller excuses himself for “some scouting and studying”. Flame promises Stud Stable gold soon.
*Izzy Slapowitz chants during a match win by Mike Davis and Tommy Lane, the Rock-N-Roll RPM’s.
*The Dream Machine and Porkchop Cash fight all over Boutwell Auditorium.
*Ron Starr cradles Les Thornton after a low blow.
Charlie Platt tells everybody not to touch the remote.
BREAK
*Tony Atlas b. Frankie Lancaster
After putting Lancaster out with a swinging neck breaker, Atlas is joined by Ron Fuller in the ring. Fuller says that he is going to face Atlas somewhere down the line here in CWS, maybe in Huntsville for that Continental Heavyweight Title on Christmas Night. He has looked at what Tony can do and maybe, someplace where The Stud Stable is not around, he could do really well. He offers Atlas a big wad of cash to “hit the bricks for his own sake”. Atlas politely refuses, saying he likes “the southern hospitality here in Alabama”, and turns his back on The Tennessee Stud. BIG MISTAKE!!! Fuller slams him from behind and, eventually, piledrives Atlas, leaving him face down on the ring. Fuller gets on the house mike and tells Atlas “if he stays, this will continue”.
BREAK
*Bob Armstrong/Steve Armstrong b. Billy Joe Travis/The Blue Scorpion
The Wrestling Pro, the CWS Commissioner, joins Platt and the winners at the desk. He reiterates his confidence in The Armstrong Family to take care of The Stud Stable and any trouble they night cause. Pro says he will stay totally “out of sight” and just do his job. That is, unless Randy Rose continues to run his mouth about “their history”. Then, The Wrestling Pro may have to “set things straight around here by himself”.
BREAK
*Banzai (Phil Hickerson) w/Tojo Yamamoto b. George Weingroff
Anderson counting three doesn’t stop Yamamoto or Hickerson. “Banzai” continues to drop knees to the chest off the middle turnbuckle under the orders of Yamamoto. One of those drops hits the throat of Weingroff. Panic ensues and Kevin Kelly, with Sunshine, hit the ring to stop that. Yamamoto stops by the desk, telling the “bimbo needs to be at home working on the Thanksgiving dinner”. Kelly is angry with the remark. Maclin brings up a match Kevin has with Dirty Rhodes later in the program.
BREAK
A video shows action from last weeks program. Bobby Jaggers stops Steve Doll from being beaten down by Yuri Gordienko and Alexis Smirnoff after a tag match.
*Bobby Jaggers b. Alexis Smirnoff w/Tojo Yamamoto by DQ
Gordienko comes out and clobbers Jaggers from behind with the U.S. flag that Jaggers brought to the ring. A 3-1 ambush keeps up until Doll returns the favor this week, by clearing the ring with a chair.
BREAK
*Virgil-San (Dirty Rhodes) b. Kevin Kelly w/Sunshine
Kelly has Rhodes in a bear hug late in the bout and the submission is close. Banzai hits the ring and gets Anderson’s attention. Yamamoto gives Sunshine another “baby reference”. Sunshine wants to “slap out Tojo”, according to Maclin. Anderson, now, has two fisted trouble to deal with and doesn’t see Yamamoto clobber Kelly with his kendo stick. Virgil-San makes the cover. The World Legion takes a quick powder after the three count.
The decision isn’t popular with anyone.
Janie Fricke tells the fans to tune back in, right here on CMT, next week.
