“CONTINENTAL WRESTLING WILDFIRE”
Taped: November 21, 1998 @ Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama
Broadcast: November 24, 1984 on various TV stations across Alabama
Announcers: Charlie Platt, Corey Maclin
Referee: Mac McMurray
Charlie and Corey welcome the fans to the program.
They plug heavily the two big holiday cards of Continental Wrestling Showcase action coming at the end of December. First, on Christmas Night in Huntsville, Alabama at the Von Braun Center, a Continental Heavyweight Champion and a Showcase Junior Heavyweight Champion will be crowned. On New Year’s Eve, in Mobile, Alabama at the Civic Center, a Showcase Television Champion and the first Showcase Tag Team Champions will be decided. Charlie states that the brackets will be revealed next week, along with the beginning of the qualifying matches.
Corey urges the fans to stay tuned today for great pro wrestling action.
BREAK
*Scott Armstrong b. Jerry Grey
A short video from last week shows the CWS Commissioner, The Wrestling Pro, bringing out Bob, Steve, and Scott Armstrong. Scott references, to Corey at ringside, the long standing rivalry between The Armstrongs and The Fuller/Welch family. Scott says that nobody in the Fuller family has beaten any Armstrong enough times to declare themselves any kind of king of wrestling. He says that Roy Lee Welch should have had better sense than to come out here wearing a crown last week. Scott vows to take that Imperial Margarine prop off his head and plant it upside his face in Huntsville in the Showcase Junior Tourney.
BREAK
*Ron Fuller/The Flame b. Al Snow/Angelo Mosca, Jr.
Fuller excuses himself from the interview at the desk by Platt. He say he has some scouting to do. Flame retorts the Stud Stable line from last week: whether it be on Christmas Night or New Year’s Eve, gold will be coming to the Stud Stable. The masked man says stuffing Scott Casey’s dime store cowboy hat “where the sun don’t shine will only be a bonus”. Busting some Armstrong noggins could be enjoyable, as well.
BREAK
*The Rock-N-Roll RPM’s (Mike Davis/Tommy Lane) b. The Mighty Yankees I & II
During the match, Izzy Slapowitz comes out and does some chanting toward the Yankees. The masked men get noticeably more confused with their offense. Before the RPM’s hit a double gut buster on Yankee I, Izzy asks Corey at the desk what he thinks The Devil’s Duo would do to Davis and Lane if the chants were directed at those “pretty boys”.
In the desk interview with Platt, Davis says that he and Tommy get their energy from these great fans. And, Slapowitz doesn’t have enough “mumbo jumbo” to control those “good vibrations”. Lane says they are looking forward to wrestling for the Showcase Tag Titles in Mobile.
BREAK
Before much gets started in the next segment. Porkchop Cash and The Dream Machine come out through the curtain. The former tag partners are laying big haymakers on each other. Corey mentions that Izzy Slapowitz and his “seeming mind control” has to be behind this. Platt say that the program format has been changed on the fly. This confrontation has become an official match.
*Porkchop Cash and Dream Machine wrestle to a DDQ.
Both men fight to the back but ‘Chop returns to talk to Corey in the ring. He says that he saw a look in the eyes of The Dream. Deep down, he is calling for help. And, he will be there to help Troy through this with “whatever it takes”.
BREAK
*Ron Starr b. Les Thornton
This match between two former World Junior Heavyweight Champions stays “scientific” until a low blow by Starr late in the match. Murray does not see the rule infraction Thornton hunches over in pain and is cradled by “Rotten Ron” for the win. Thornton recovers and drives Starr from the ring after a series of high impact suplexes.
Talking to Corey at ringside, Thornton says that he prides himself in being an “English Gentleman” but he can go “pier six brawl” with the best of them. Starr just signed his contract for that and much more. Thornton demands a first round match in the Junior Heavyweight Tourney be against Starr for a quick chance at revenge.
Corey and Charlie close the show, reminding the fans to tune into CMT tomorrow night for more Continental Wrestling Showcase action.
