SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING
Saturday, June 1, 1996 2pm to 3pm
Taped earlier in the day at the Cawood High School in Harlan, KY
Broadcast on these local stations: WBIR-10 covering east Tennessee WYMT-12 covering eastern Kentucky WKPT-59 covering northeastern Tennessee and southwest Virginia"Don't change that channel, all that flippin' around! You're about to see the hottest show in town. The biggest stars and the biggest brawls. The biggest hits and the biggest falls. Non stop action, no messin' around, pretty soon we're comin' to your town. The way you like it, the way it used to be...Smoky Mountain Wrestling's on TV." ---LES THATCHER, DUTCH MANTELL and STAN LANE open the show in the broadcast area, in front of a large SMW banner, and they welcome us to Harlan, KY for another edition of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Wrestling the way it used to be. Wrestling the way YOU like it! This week, SMW Champion Tracy Smothers defends the title against the masked Flame . . . new TV Champ Chris Candido will be in action . . . we’ll see the debut of “Down & Dirty with Dutch”, where Dutch Mantell will have Buddy Landel as his guest . . . we’ll hear from NWA Champion Terry Funk . . . and in the main event, Jerry Lawler squares off with Buddy Landel! --- MATCH #1: SMW Champion TRACY SMOTHERS battles THE FLAME to a Double DQ when Buddy Landel comes out to the ring and attacks Smothers, followed by Jerry Lawler, who brawls with Landel and the Flame. The four men brawl for a good four or five minutes after the match ends, with Smothers and Lawler eventually getting the upper hand, causing Landel and the Flame to retreat. ---SMOTHERS and LAWLER are joined at ringside by Les Thatcher. Smothers talks about his rivalry with Landel, and says that a Cage match has been signed between them, to keep the two of them in the ring, and everyone else out. Lawler talks about refereeing the match between Smothers and Landel at Volunteer Slam, and says that he doesn’t regret how things went down. Landel put his hands on him, and he wasn’t about to let Buddy get away with that. He then says that he’ll beat Landel later today in the main event, just like he’s beaten Landel every time they’ve wrestled in the past. --- THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS come out and join the commentary team at the broadcast table. Morton talks about losing the Tag Team Titles to the Bruise Brothers last week, but he promises the fans that they will get them back. Gibson says this is just a bump in the road, and the belts will be back where they belong soon enough. He says that they already got rid of one of Cornette’s tag teams, now they’ll get rid of another. --- MATCH #2: SMW TV Champion CHRIS CANDIDO beats BOBBY WALKER via pinfall with the New Jersey Jam top-rope Legdrop --- MATCH #3: THE BULLET (w/ Buddy Landel) beats SCOTT ARMSTRONG via pinfall with a Moonsault. After the match, Landel climbs into the ring and he and the Bullet double-team Armstrong, with the Bullet picking Armstrong up and delivering a Brainbuster, that looks awfully similar to the Snow Plow. Bullet isn’t done, and as Landel gloats, Bullet delivers a SECOND Brainbuster. A group of officials come out and force the two men to leave the ring, and then they tend to Armstrong. EMTs come out and Scott is loaded onto a stretcher and taken from the ring. ---SMW Commissioner BOB ARMSTRONG comes out joins Les and Stan at the broadcast table. We see another video of Al Snow, at what looks to be a resort, saying that he’s emotionally scarred, and that his lawyers are proceeding with the lawsuit against Smoky Mountain Wrestling and Bob Armstrong personally. He then says that Armstrong can make all of this go away, all he has to do is reinstate Snow, and remove the ban on the Snow Plow.
Snow then says it’s time for another therapy session, but as he walks away, we see that he’s in a bathing suit, and he goes and dives into a nearby pool.ARMSTRONG talks with Les and Stan about everything that’s been going on with Al Snow, and says that Snow can do whatever he feels he needs to do, but he’s not reinstating him OR removing the ban on the Snow Plow. He says that he’s got a sneaking suspicion that Snow’s still wrestling anyways, and says that if the Bullet gets unmasked and it is indeed Al Snow under the mask, he’ll be banned from Smoky Mountain Wrestling FOREVER! ---DUTCH MANTELL welcomes us to the first edition of “DOWN & DIRTY WITH DUTCH”. His guests this week are the man that will soon be the new SMW Champion, Buddy Landel, and his associates, the Bullet and the Flame! LANDEL talks about the comments made by Bob Armstrong, and says that he always knew Bob was stupid, but even he didn’t realize just HOW stupid he truly is! He says that Al Snow, being the reasonable individual he is, gave Bob an easy way to solve all of this, but Armstrong lacks the mental capacity to understand just how bad things are going to get since he refused Al’s request. At this point, JIM CORNETTE comes out. He shakes hands with Dutch, Buddy, the Bullet and the Flame. CORNETTE says that he’s admired Landel for a long time, and then offers his managerial services to the three men! He says that anyone who hates Bob Armstrong as much as he does would make a welcome addition to his group. Landel, Bullet and Flame accept, and all three shake hands with Cornette. DUTCH says that this is what Down & Dirty with Dutch is all about, a major blockbuster deal, brokered right here on his segment. Suddenly, BRAD and STEVE ARMSTRONG arrive on the scene. The Armstrong brothers confront Landel and the Bullet about the attack on their brother Scott, earlier in the show. Things quickly escalate, and fists start flying as Brad and Steve tear into Landel, Flame and Bullet. Cornette motions to the back, and here come the SMW Tag Team Champions, the BRUISE BROTHERS!!! The Bruise brothers attack Brad and Scott and pummel them, until THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS rush out!! We’ve got a HUGE brawl between the Armstrong brothers, the Bruise brothers, Buddy Landel, the Flame, the Bullet and the Rock n’ Roll Express! Dutch Mantell and Jim Cornette decide to get out of dodge while the brawl rages on. It takes several minutes for SMW officials and other wrestlers to break it up. LOCALIZED PROMOS for the show later tonight in Knoxville at the Civic Coliseum. The line-up for the card includes . . . US Jr. Heavyweight Champion Rip Rogers against Dixie Dynamite . . . SMW Tag Team Champions the Bruise Brothers defending the belts against the Rock n’ Roll Express . . . Jerry Lawler takes on former Heavenly Body, “Gigalo” Jimmy Del Ray . . . Brad & Steve Armstrong meet the Bullet & the Flame . . . SMW Champion Tracy Smothers defends the title against Buddy Landel in a Steel Cage match.--- MATCH #4: BUDDY LANDEL beats JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER via pinfall when, after a ref bump, the Flame comes down to the ring, loads his mask, and delivers a headbutt to the back of Lawler’s head. The King drops like a sack of potatoes, and as the referee comes to, Landel locks on the Figure-4 Leglock. Lawler is out, and referee Dave Hebner counts Lawler’s shoulders down for the 1, 2, 3! ---We go to pre-recorded comments from NWA World Champion TERRY FUNK. Funk talks about his recent match with Brad Armstrong at Volunteer Slam, where Armstrong gave Funk all he could handle. Funk praises Armstrong, but it doesn’t seem as sincere as his comments have been in the past. TERRY then says that it isn’t fair to him to have to try to prepare for random challengers, while he’s travelling the world, defending this title against the very best in wrestling. He says that from this point on, when he comes to SMW, he’ll only defend the title against the SMW Champion. That way, he knows who he will be facing, and can properly prepare for the match. Funk then talks about the current SMW Champion, Tracy Smothers, and while he doesn’t come right out and say it, he implies that he would have an easy time beating Smothers. ---THATCHER, MANTELL and LANE wrap up the show, and hype next week’s show, which will see the youngest of the Armstrong brothers, Jesse James Armstrong, make his SMW debut. As well, Brad and Steve Armstrong will face the masked duo of the Bullet and the Flame in a tag team match!

SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING
Saturday, June 8, 1996 2pm to 3pm
Taped on June 1 at Cawood High School in Harlan, KY
Broadcast on these local stations: WBIR-10 covering East Tennessee WYMT-12 covering Eastern Kentucky WVSX-59 covering the Bluefield-Beckley market in West Virginia"Don't change that channel, all that flippin' around! You're about to see the hottest show in town. The biggest stars and the biggest brawls. The biggest hits and the biggest falls. Non stop action, no messin' around, pretty soon we're comin' to your town. The way you like it, the way it used to be...Smoky Mountain Wrestling's on TV" ---LES THATCHER, DUTCH MANTELL and STAN LANE open the show in the broadcast area, in front of a large SMW banner, and they welcome us to Harlan, KY for another edition of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Wrestling the way it used to be. Wrestling the way YOU like it! THATCHER quickly runs down the matches that will take place today . . . Jesse James Armstrong makes his SMW TV debut . . . US Jr. Heavyweight Champ Rip Rogers will be in action . . . Buddy Landel will be here . . . and in the main event, the Armstrong brothers, Steve and Scott, will take on the masked duo of the Flame and the Bullet! DUTCH MANTELL says that, speaking of Buddy Landel, they have a video to show the fans, and the fans have no idea how delighted he is to be able to show this footage. SMOTHERS V. LANDEL CAGE MATCH, JIP: . . . We join the match at about the 15-minute mark. Smothers has the upper hand and looks to be on his way to victory, but when he goes for the Jawjacker off the top, Landel drops out of the way, and Smothers crashes into the mat. Landel pulls Smothers up, and repeatedly slams Tracy, face-first, into the cage. Landel wears Smothers down and hits the Slingshot Suplex for the pinfall.MANTELL can barely contain his excitement as he tells the fans watching at home that BUDDY LANDEL is the new Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Champion! ---SMW Champ BUDDY LANDEL, along with his associate THE BULLET and JIM CORNETTE join Thatcher, Lane and Mantell at the broadcast area. DUTCH congratulates Landel on his win, and shakes his hand. LANDEL brags about winning the belt, and says that he knows Tracy Smothers is back there in the locker room watching, and says that’s the closest Smothers is going to get to this belt for a long time, because he isn’t going to give Smothers any rematches until Tracy has proven he deserves it, and works his way back up the ladder. LES THATCHER says that Landel doesn’t get to decide who he faces, that’s the job of the Championship Committee, and he says that he’s already been informed that they have signed several rematches between Landel and Smothers, to take place all over the Smoky Mountain region. LANDEL doesn’t like that, his mood sours immediately, and he wants to know who these idiots on the Championship Committee think they are? He says that he’s the Champion, he’s the one that should be calling the shots, but that shriveled up old piece of garbage, Bob Armstrong, has a vendetta against him. He says that Bob Armstrong just keep stacking the deck against him. CORNETTE says that he’s sure these Kentucky Fried Hillbillies in the audience and watching at home on TV are just loving this, they’d love nothing more than to see Tracy Smothers and Bob Armstrong steal this belt from Buddy Landel. A sly smile crosses Cornette’s face, and he says that it isn’t going to happen. For too long he’s sat back and watched as Bob Armstrong has thrown his weight around, and tried to make life miserable for the true gentlemen of this sport, like Buddy Landel, Al Snow and himself. But no more! Cornette has a plan, and says that he’s not going to let Bob Armstrong screw Landel out of the SMW title, and says that Armstrong can sign all the rematches he wants, because they’re going to ensure that Smothers doesn’t make it to the matches! JIM says that he’s talked with his Mama, and she’s given him the go-ahead to offer $25,000 to anyone who can put Tracy Smothers out of action! THATCHER and LANE are shocked and appalled by Cornette’s comments, but DUTCH MANTELL likes it, and says that Cornette and Landel are using their heads, they’re letting someone else do their dirty work for them! LANDEL then talks about Al Snow, and the fact that these idiot Armstrongs really think the Bullet is Al Snow. He says that Al Snow is taking time off, and receiving extensive therapy to help with the emotional distress that the Armstrongs have caused him. ---We see another video of AL SNOW at “therapy”. We get a shot of Al, and a few other people, sitting on deck chairs. AL says that his therapist suggested group therapy, so he can interact with other people who have gone through similar experiences. He asks the others with him if they’ve ever had to go through what he has with someone like Bob Armstrong, to which they all say no, and one even compares Armstrong to some of the most heinous dictators throughout history.
At that point, the camera pans out, and we see their sitting near a big hot tub. Al and the others then climb into the hot tub, as a waitress comes by with several glasses of champagne.BUDDY LANDEL says that there’s the proof right there, that Al Snow is indeed in therapy, and the Armstrongs and everyone else in SMW need to let go of this crazy conspiracy theory that the Bullet is actually Al. He then says that he’ll give everyone even MORE proof, and he hands the mic to the Bullet, who runs down Bob Armstrong in an overly-emphasized, corny southern drawl, but behind that, the voice does sound familiar. CORNETTE then says that his men are going to run the whole stinkin’ Armstrong family right out of Smoky Mountain, and then says that it’s open season on Tracy Smothers, and once someone puts him out of wrestling, they’ll be $25,000 richer! --- MATCH #1: JESSE JAMES ARMSTRONG beats PAUL ROMA via pinfall. Armstrong gets the win after hitting a Pumphandle Slam. --- MATCH #2: US Jr. Heavyweight Champ “RUGGED” RIP ROGERS beats GARY ROYAL at around the 3-minute mark via pinfall. Rogers gets the three-count with the German Suplex into a bridge. ---LES THATCHER interviews SMW TV Champ CHRIS CANDIDO at ringside. Candido brags about winning the TV title a few weeks back, saying that Jimmy Valiant offered no challenge whatsoever. Candido then challenges anyone in SMW that wants a shot at his title to bring it on! ---STAN LANE runs down some upcoming SMW shows, including tonight’s TV taping in Cumberland, KY at the Cumberland High School.
SMW will be in Johnson City, TN at the Freedom Hall Civic Center next Saturday night, June 15 and on that card, fans will see US Jr. Heavyweight Champ Rip Rogers defend against Scott Armstrong . . . Brad Armstrong squares off with Chris Candido . . . The Rock n’ Roll Express look to regain the SMW Tag Titles as they face the Bruise Brothers . . . SMW Champ Buddy Landel and the masked Bullet will take on Steve and Jesse James Armstrong in tag team action!
Then, on July 4, Smoky Mountain Wrestling returns to Knoxville, this time at Neyland Stadium, the home of the Tennessee Vols football team, for SMW Summer Blast 96! This show promises to be the biggest event in Smoky Mountain Wrestling history! Matches already signed include the Rock n’ Roll Express facing the Bruise Brothers, Steve Armstrong taking on the Flame, Terry Funk will be in town to defend the NWA World Title, and Buddy Landel and the Bullet will face Jerry Lawler and Tracy Smothers in a Steel Cage match!--- MATCH #3: BUDDY LANDEL (w/ Jim Cornette) beats MIKE STONE via submission in a non-title match. Landel spends the early part of the match working on Stone’s knee, and eventually slaps on the Figure-4 Leglock for the submission victory. It’s main event time, and STEVE & SCOTT ARMSTRONG hit the ring, to Jerry Lee Lewis’ hit “Great Balls of Fire”. Moments later, THE BULLET & THE FLAME come out, to Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild”. --- MATCH #4: THE BULLET & THE FLAME (w/ Jim Cornette) beat STEVE & SCOTT ARMSTRONG at 6:49 when the Bullet pins Scott after hitting him with a foreign object, which he then tossed to Cornette at ringside. As Mike McGuirk announces the decision, TRACY SMOTHERS hits the ring, and starts to explain to the referee that the Bullet had used a foreign object. Referee Dave Hebner demands that the Bullet hold out his arms and open his hands, but since the object was already tossed to Cornette, Hebner finds nothing. At that point, Smothers is jumped from behind by BUDDY LANDEL, and the Bullet and the Flame quickly join in and they triple-team Smothers. Scott is still groggy from being hit with the foreign object, so he’s no help, and Steve tries to help his friend, but the Bullet and the Flame gang up on him and throw him out of the ring. Suddenly, JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER hits the ring and pulls Landel off of Smothers. As Landel and Lawler brawl, the Bullet goes to the floor and pummels Steve Armstrong, and the Flame turns his attention to Smothers. As Tracy slowly starts to get to his feet, we see the Flame fiddling with something in his hands, then, hoping to collect on Landel’s bounty, goes to throw a FIREBALL at Smothers . . . but Jerry Lawler saw it coming, and he pushed Smothers out of the way, taking the fireball in his face instead!! JERRY LAWLER JUST SACRIFICED HIMSELF TO SAVE HIS FRIEND, TRACY SMOTHERS!!Several wrestlers and officials then hit the ring and Landel, Bullet and Flame leave the ring as Tracy Smothers checks on Jerry Lawler as the show comes to an end.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING
Saturday, June 15, 1996 2pm to 3pm
Taped on June 8 at Cumberland High School in Cumberland, KY
Broadcast on these local stations: WBIR-10 covering East Tennessee WYMT-12 covering Eastern Kentucky WVSX-59 covering the Bluefield-Beckley market in West Virginia"Don't change that channel, all that flippin' around! You're about to see the hottest show in town. The biggest stars and the biggest brawls. The biggest hits and the biggest falls. Non stop action, no messin' around, pretty soon we're comin' to your town. The way you like it, the way it used to be...Smoky Mountain Wrestling's on TV" ---LES THATCHER, DUTCH MANTELL and STAN LANE open the show in the broadcast area, in front of a large SMW banner, and they welcome us to Cumberland, KY for another edition of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Wrestling the way it used to be. Wrestling the way YOU like it! THATCHER quickly runs down the matches that will take place today . . . Tracy Smothers will be in action . . . Jerry Lawler will be looking for payback from last week when he goes one on one with the Flame . . . SMW Tag Team Champions the Bruise Brothers will be in action . . . in the main event, Buddy Landel and Brad Armstrong square off in a non-title match! DUTCH says that he’ll have two of the biggest crybabies he’s ever seen, in Tracy Smothers and Jerry Lawler, as his guests on Down & Dirty with Dutch. LANE recaps what happened last week, where Buddy Landel and Jim Cornette put a $25,000 bounty on Tracy Smothers, trying to keep Smothers from getting a rematch for the SMW title. Later in the show, the Flame tried to collect on it by throwing a fireball at Smothers, but Jerry Lawler pushed Smothers aside, and got burned instead. Highlights are shown from last week, showing what Lane was talking about, ending with Lawler getting burned by a fireball from the Flame, that was meant for Tracy Smothers.---LES THATCHER conducts an interview with THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS. Ricky and Robert talk about their quest to regain the SMW Tag Titles from the Bruise Brothers. Thatcher mentions that they will face the Champions tonight in Johnson City, in an Elimination match. Gibson and Morton say that they are going to go out there tonight and give it their all, just like they do every time they step into the ring, and hopefully next week, they’ll be out here, wearing the Tag Team titles once again. --- JIM CORNETTE comes out to the announcer’s table, and cuts a promo, saying that Morton and Gibson are dreaming if they think they’re going to win back the SMW Tag Titles. His Bruise Brothers are unstoppable, and by the time it’s all said and done, they are going to cripple the Rock n’ Roll Express! CORNETTE then addresses what happened last week with the Flame attempting to burn Tracy Smothers. He says that Smothers is just lucky that Jerry Lawler is stupid enough to try and block a fireball with his face. But Tracy’s luck is going to run out, and when it does, someone is going put him out of wrestling for good and collect the $25,000. Cornette holds his up his tennis racket, and says that he might even take a crack at Smothers himself, that way he can just keep the 25 grand! The Charlie Daniels Band’s “South’s Gonna Do It Again” plays over the PA system, and the Wild-eyed Southern Boy, Tracy Smothers, hits the ring, waving the Confederate flag. --- MATCH #1: TRACY SMOTHERS beats JEFF SWORD via pinfall after hitting Sword with the Georgia Jawjacker off the top rope. ---LES THATCHER interviews SMW TV Champ CHRIS CANDIDO. Candido wants to know why he hasn’t had any competition since coming to SMW? Les says that, starting next week, they’ll be going back to the old way of choosing challengers for the TV title, by drawing a name at the top of the program. Les says that should make for some interesting matches. Candido hopes so, saying that he’s getting tired of the sub-par competition he’s been getting. Candido then talks about his opponent on July 4 at Summer Blast, Steve Armstrong, and says that all everybody kept telling him before he came to Smoky Mountain was how great these Armstrongs are, but he says that he’ll see for himself whether that’s true or not on July 4 at Neyland Stadium. --- DUTCH MANTELL is ringside, and says that it’s time for “DOWN & DIRTY WITH DUTCH”. Dutch brings out his guests this week, the former SMW Champ Tracy Smothers and Jerry Lawler. Lawler’s head is heavily bandaged, and some scarring is visible. DUTCH runs his mouth a little bit to start things off, saying that Lawler might think he’s earned brownie points with these fans for sacrificing himself to save Smothers, but Mantell thinks he’s an idiot. LAWLER cuts him off, and says that what Dutch thinks doesn’t matter to him, but says that he’s been involved in plenty of bounties in wrestling, both as the target, and as the one trying to collect, and he knows that everyone’s going to be gunning for Smothers, so anything he can do to help Tracy out, he’ll gladly do. SMOTHERS thanks him, and the two shake hands. Dutch says that he’s going to be sick. LAWLER and SMOTHERS then talk about facing Buddy Landel and the Bullet in a Steel Cage match at Summer Blast on July 4. Tracy says that this Independence Day is going to be one to remember, because it’s the day that he and Lawler finally rid SMW of Buddy Landel and Al Snow, or the Bullet, or whatever he wants to call himself, but everyone knows it’s Snow under the mask. Suddenly, there’s some commotion, and someone charges to ringside and without slowing down, attacks Tracy Smothers with the ferocity of a jungle cat! THAT’S ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER!!! WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING HERE?!?!ABDULLAH has a stick with what looks like a shrunken head on the end of it! He repeatedly bashes Smothers over the head with it, and when Jerry Lawler tries to help Smothers, Abby jabs him in the throat with the end of the stick, then stomps him, before turning his attention back to Smothers. Abby drops the stick, and pulls out his trusty fork, and starts jabbing it into Smothers’ forehead. Within seconds, Smothers is busted open, and blood starts streaming down his face. At this point, he can’t even defend himself, as Abby continues the assault. A group of babyfaces hit the ring, and Abby is able to knock a few of them aside, but finally, a group of about a dozen wrestlers are able to pull the Butcher off of Tracy Smothers. DUTCH MANTELL just sits back and watches, with a big smile on his face. After Abdullah has been dragged away from ringside by security personnel, Lawler, still holding his throat, tends to his bloody friend. ---LES THATCHER interviews JIM CORNETTE and SMW Tag Team Champions THE BRUISE BROTHERS. Cornette and the Bruises brag about beating the Rock n’ Roll Express, with Cornette saying that Morton and Gibson need to learn to accept the fact that Ron and Don Harris are the superior team, and the Rock n’ Roll Express will never again be SMW Tag Team Champions! Cornette finishes up the interview by talking about what we just witnessed, with Abdullah showing up and busting Smothers up with that fork. He says it was one of the greatest things he’s ever witnessed! Led Zeppelin’s “the Immigrant Song” starts playing over the PA system, and Cornette leads the Bruise Brothers from the announce area to the ring for the next match. --- MATCH #2: SMW Tag Champs THE BRUISE BROTHERS (w/ Jim Cornette) beat LEE SCOTT & ROBBIE EAGLE in under 2 minutes, when Ron and Don toss Eagle out of the ring, then they both grab Lee Scott by the throat, and deliver a double chokeslam. Ron Harris pins Scott by placing a foot on his chest. ---STAN LANE runs down some upcoming SMW shows, and we hear promos from some of the wrestlers involved in these shows:
SMW will be in Johnson City, TN at the Freedom Hall Civic Center tonight, June 15. Some changes have been made to the matches scheduled, and now, on the updated card, fans will see Chris Michaels in action . . . Steve Armstrong will square off with the Flame . . . the Rock n’ Roll Express look to regain the SMW Tag Titles from the Bruise Brothers in an Elimination match . . . SMW Champ Buddy Landel defends the title against Jerry Lawler . . . And in the main event, fans will see a 12-man Smoky Mountain Rumble battle royal!
Then, on July 4, Smoky Mountain Wrestling returns to Knoxville, this time at Neyland Stadium, the home of the Tennessee Vols football team, for SMW Summer Blast 96! This show promises to be the biggest event in Smoky Mountain Wrestling history! Matches already signed include youngster Jesse James Armstrong challenging Rip Rogers for the US Jr. Heavyweight Title, the Rock n’ Roll Express facing the Bruise Brothers, Steve Armstrong taking on Chris Candido, Terry Funk will be in town to defend the NWA World Title, and Buddy Landel and the Bullet will face Jerry Lawler and Tracy Smothers in a Steel Cage match!--- MATCH #3: JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER beats THE FLAME via pinfall after almost 7 minutes of action. Lawler takes a beating, but then pulls down his strap, to show that he means business, and pummels the Flame. Lawler hits the Piledriver, then delivers a Fistdrop off the second turnbuckle for good measure. --- TRACY SMOTHERS comes out to the announcer’s table, his face still covered in blood. He grabs a mic and, with a crazed look in his eyes, he demands that the promoters sign a match with him and Abdullah as soon as possible! Tracy says he doesn’t care where it is, or what kind of match it is, he just wants to get his hands on Abdullan and ring his neck! Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” begins to play, and Brad Armstrong hits the ring, high-fiving the fans as he comes down the aisle. Also Sprach Zarathustra starts, and that means only one thing, the SMW Heavyweight Champion, “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel. --- MATCH #4: SMW Champ “NATURE BOY” BUDDY LANDEL (w/ Jim Cornette) battles BRAD ARMSTRONG to a DRAW when TV time runs out. The match was an exciting one, that saw Brad Armstrong come close to becoming the Champ, but Landel was always able to get a shoulder up at the last second. Just before the time limit expired, Armstrong hit the Russian Legsweep, but just as he went for the cover, the bell rang. ---LES THATCHER, DUTCH MANTELL and STAN LANE wrap things, and Les hypes next week’s show, which will see Jesse James Armstrong in action, the Bruise Brothers will be the guests on Down & Dirty with Dutch, Chris Candido will defend the TV title against a challenger selected at random, and hopefully we’ll get an update on the condition of Tracy Smothers after that vicious attack at the hands of Abdullah the Butcher!

From there, we see a clip of the Flame throwing a fireball at Smothers, but Jerry Lawler pushes Smothers out of the way and gets the fireball in the face. Then we see a clip of Abdullah the Butcher showing up last week, and rendering Smothers a bloody mess!DUTCH laughs about what we just saw, and says that it doesn’t look like Smothers is going to be able to relax even for a second, every time he turns around, he’s got somebody looking to collect that bounty. Dutch says he may even take a crack at it himself! ---SMW TV Champion CHRIS CANDIDO comes out to the announce table, and wants to know who he’s going to be defending his title against. STAN LANE picks up the bowl that has the names in it, and draw a name. Lane looks a little surprised, and shows it to Candido, who immediately throws a fit. Lane holds the piece of paper up, as the camera zooms in . . . JERRY LAWLER is the name on the piece of paper! CANDIDO says that Lawler hasn’t done anything to deserve a shot at the title, his name shouldn’t have even been included. LES reminds him that everyones name is put into the bowl, so everyone has the same chance of having their name drawn. CANDIDO still isn’t happy about it, and he storms off as we go to the ring for the first match. DUTCH introduces this week’s guest, a man he calls the greatest wrestling mind the world has ever known, the Man, the Myth, the LEGEND . . . MR. JIM CORNETTE!! CORNETTE comes out and shakes hands with Dutch. Cornette is smiling from ear to ear, and says that he’s got some huge news, he could barely wait until the segment to break this story . . . he’s had his mama’s lawyers on the Al Snow situation, and says that it’s finally been remedied, SMW was forced to admit that their punishment was overly severe, and Mr. Snow has been reinstated! DUTCH says that is big news! CORNY says that Snow will be back on next week’s show, and since his buddy the Bullet is in high demand all over the world, the masked man decided to graciously bow out of the Steel Cage match at SUMMER BLAST, and let Al Snow take his place! DUTCH says that he bets Smothers and Lawler are shaking in their boots in the back listening to this, he’s sure they’re so scared, they’re probably wetting themselves in fear! CORNETTE says that they should be scared, because Al Snow told him over the phone yesterday, that he wants that $25,000, and inside the 20 ft. high steel cage on July 4, he’s going to cripple Smothers and put him out of wrestling for good! --- MATCH #3: ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER beats CHRIS DUFFY. This can hardly even be considered a match, it lasts about 40 seconds, and could better be described as a massacre, as the Butcher brings out his trusty fork, hiding it from view of the referee of course, and proceeds to bloody Duffy. Referee Dave Hebner decides to stop the match, and awards it to Abdullah. Abby isn’t finished, though, he continues to pummel Duffy, and even hits the Sudanese Meat Cleaver! TRACY SMOTHERS hits the ring, and the Wild-Eyed Southern Boy starts bashing the Butcher over the head with the pole of his Confederate flag!!! Abdullah turns the tables, after jabbing Smothers in the throat with his fork, then throws Smothers to the floor. Outside the ring, Abby goes to ram Tracy’s head into the ringpost . . . but Smothers reverses it and sends the Butcher into the ringpost instead! This causes Abby to drop his fork, and Smothers picks it up, and starts digging it into the forehead of Abdullah, busting him open! Abby decides he’s had enough of this, and heads for the locker room, with Smothers still jabbing at him with the fork! Tracy Smothers has gotten a measure of revenge for the attack last week by the Butcher! ---After a commercial break, it’s time for the main event! The King’s theme music plays as he makes his way to the ring, and awaits the arrival of the SMW Television Champion Chris Candido. AC/DC’s “Back in Black” starts playing, and TV Champ CHRIS CANDIDO makes his way to the ring. --- MATCH #4: JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER beats SMW TV Champ CHRIS CANDIDO via COUNT-OUT. After nearly 10 minutes of exciting, hard-hitting back and forth action, Jerry Lawler has the upper hand. He drops the Champion with a big right hand, then pulls him up, and goes to cinch him up for the Piledriver! Candido has other ideas, though, and manages to break free of Lawler’s grasp, and rolls out of the ring . . . AND STARTS WALKING TO THE BACK! Apparently Candido decided to follow the old saying, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, because he’s left the ring and has gone to the locker room, taking the loss by count-out, but he retains the TV title. Lawler gets his hand raised, but he doesn’t look happy about the way the match ended. ---LES THATCHER, DUTCH MANTELL and STAN LANE wrap things, and Les hypes next week’s show, which will see Tommy Rogers, formerly one-half of the Fantastics, challenge Rip Rogers for the US Jr. Heavyweight Title. The Rock n’ Roll Express will be here. And after what took place earlier today, a match has been signed for next week between Tracy Smothers and Abdullah the Butcher!

Tracy Smothers and Jerry “the King” Lawler face Smoky Mountain Champ Buddy Landel and Al Snow in a Steel Cage match . . . and in a special added attraction, another Steel Cage match will take place, as Commissioner Bob Armstrong comes out of retirement for one more match against Jim Cornette! JIM CORNETTE comes out to the broadcast table. CORNETTE says Summer Blast will be the highlight of his career, the Bruise Brothers will finally run the Rock n’ Roll Express out of Smoky Mountain Wrestling, then Buddy Landel and Al Snow will put an end to Tracy Smothers, and finally, he has the match that he’s been waiting for, he’s got that senile old fossil Bob Armstrong inside a cage! Bob won’t be able to run and hide, he won’t be able to hide behind his Commissionership, and Cornette says he will cripple Bob Armstrong and send him out on a stretcher. And after he rids SMW of Bob Armstrong, Cornette says that HE will take over the promotion, and then things are going to be a lot different around here. After Cornette leaves the broadcast area, “Unholy” by KISS begins to play over the PA system, and the monster UNABOMB makes his way to the ring for the first match. --- MATCH #1: UNABOMB beat THE MASKED MARVELS in a Handicap match. Unabomb just destroys his opponents, and gets the win after delivering a Powerbomb to each of his opponents, and putting a foot on the chest of Marvel #1 for the pinfall. --- A video montage airs, set to “Eye of the Tiger”, showing JESSE JAMES ARMSTRONG training with his brothers, preparing for his US Jr. Heavyweight title match at Summer Blast. The Weather Girls’ “It’s Raining Men” starts to play, signalling the arrival of the US Jr. Heavyweight Champ, “Rugged” Rip Rogers. --- MATCH #2: SMW US Jr. Heavyweight Champ “RUGGED” RIP ROGERS beats TOMMY ROGERS via pinfall at the 6-minute mark. Tommy gives the Champ all he can handle, but in the end, a thumb to the eye stops the challenger dead in his tracks. From there, the Rugged One hits a series of vicious European uppercuts, then catches Tommy with a German Suplex into a bridge for the pinfall. After the decision, Rogers grabs the house mic and says that’s how a real man does it, and says that what we just saw is a preview of what’s going to happen to Jesse James Armstrong at Summer Blast. --- DUTCH MANTELL is ringside, and it’s time for another edition of DOWN & DIRTY WITH DUTCH. DUTCH introduces this week’s guest, two men who Mantell puts over as class acts, and men that all these fans should look up to and aspire to be like . . . the Smoky Mountain Champ BUDDY LANDEL and, fresh off his completely unjust suspension, AL SNOW!!! DUTCH talks about Snow’s suspension, and says that Bob Armstrong and the SMW Board of Directors were wrong to do that, and he, for one, is glad that Al made SMW pay for their actions! SNOW thanks Dutch for his kind words, and and says that he’s absolutely right, SMW had no reason to suspend him, they did it because they want him out of here. He refers to the Board of Directors as the Gestapo. SNOW then says that he wants to introduce someone to Dutch, and all these hillbillies in the audience and watching on TV. He says that he met someone in therapy, she used to be a go-go dancer, but she was looking for a career change, and Al decided to bring her to SMW. He then introduces LEIA MEOW, who Al refers to as their "head cheerleader" LANDEL talks about the cage match coming up at Summer Blast, and says that Smothers and Lawler will be history after the match, then he’s setting his sights on Terry Funk and the NWA title! Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock n’ Roll” starts to play, and Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson make their way to the ring, high-fiving the fans along the way. --- MATCH #3: THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS beat PAUL ROMA & ROBBIE EAGLE via pinfall at the 3-minute mark when Gibson pins Roma after a double dropkick from both Gibson and Morton. --- STAN LANE hosts an update for SUMMER BLAST, which will take place on July 4 from the home of the Tennessee Vols, Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.
LANE runs down the matches that will take place at Summer Blast:
* RIP ROGERS defends the US Jr. Heavyweight title against JESSE JAMES ARMSTRONG!
* SMW Tag Team Champs THE BRUISE BROTHERS defend against THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS!
* CHRIS CANDIDO meets STEVE ARMSTRONG!
* NWA World Champion TERRY FUNK will defend the title against BRAD ARMSTRONG!
* TRACY SMOTHERS & JERRY LAWLER battle BUDDY LANDEL & AL SNOW in a Steel Cage match!
* BOB ARMSTRONG has had enough of JIM CORNETTE, and has announced he will come out of retirement to face Cornette one more time, and that match will take place inside of the STEEL CAGE as well!We see pre-recorded comments from NWA World Champion TERRY FUNK. Funk puts Brad Armstrong over as one of the top wrestlers in the World, saying that he’s known Brad for a long time, and Armstrong doesn’t get the recognition he deserves, as far as Funk is concerned. He says that it’s going to be a great match at Summer Blast, and says that, while he still feels he has a long reign ahead of him, if Armstrong can beat him, the fans will still have a Champion they can be proud of.LES THATCHER talks about the $25,000 bounty that Jim Cornette and Buddy Landel put on Tracy Smothers. Footage is shown of Abdullah the Butcher showing up two weeks ago, and rendering Smothers a bloody mess. Then the video cuts to last week’s show, where Smothers and Abdullah brawled again, but this time Smothers got the better of the Madman from the Sudan, using Abby’s own fork against him!The Charlie Daniels Band’s “the South Is Gonna Do It Again” brings Tracy Smothers to the ring, waving the Confederate flag high as he makes his way to the ring. Abdullah comes out next, but Smothers jumps out of the ring and meets the Butcher in the aisle, and our main event is under way! --- MATCH #4: TRACY SMOTHERS beats ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER via DQ. The two men battle on the floor to start, and referee Mark Curtis gives them some leeway, and doesn’t start the count right away. Back inside the ring, we see next to no wrestling moves, it’s just a straight up streetfight! Abdullah ends up getting disqualified when he pulls out his trusty fork and starts jabbing Smothers in the head with it. Tracy tries to fight back, but blood starts running down his face, into his eyes, and the Butcher gives him a beating. Mark Curtis, having already ended the match, tries to break it up, but he gets a shot from the fork as well and falls to the mat. That gives Tracy a moment to recover, and when the Butcher turns his attention back to Smothers, Tracy hits him with a flurry of rights and lefts that leave Abby stunned. Smothers goes for the Jawjacker from the top, but Abby moves, and then starts jabbing Smothers with the fork again. At that point, JERRY LAWLER and BRAD, STEVE, and JESSE JAMES ARMSTRONG all hit the ring and pull the Butcher off of Smothers. But BUDDY LANDEL, AL SNOW and CHRIS CANDIDO hit the ring as well, and we’ve got a HUGE brawl going on as the show comes to an end! ---LES THATCHER, DUTCH MANTELL and STAN LANE wrap things up as the brawl is still going on in the ring and around ringside. Les reminds us to get our tickets for July 4 at Neyland Stadium for Summer Blast ’96!
