Gene Okerlund: Welcome to another edition of Superstars of the Ring. The action continues to intensify each week here in the UWE as we bring you the hottest stars in wrestling. Tonight we have a huge main event as the Killer Bees will face the dangerous Sheepherders and their manager Jonathan Boyd. In addition, Billy Jack Haynes takes on Black Bart, Bad News Allen meets the popular cowboy Scott Casey, and Jimmy Snuka is back in action against Matt Bourne. We will also hear from many of superstars throughout the show. Before we get to the action, we are joined by the Commissioner of the UWE, Lord James Blears.
Lord James Blears: Our mission is to bring the fans of wrestling the best action each and every week, whether it’s here on ESPN or at our live shows taking place all over the country. As we continue to revolutionize the sport, I am proud to announce today that the UWE has a big Summer planned for 1984. I can announce tonight that we will be promoting the Festival of Champions, a series of blockbuster cards that will be held in areas around the country. Every single title belt will be defended at each Festival of Champions location and the events will be taped for distribution through our agreement with Blockbuster Video. The first event of the Festival of Champions series will take place Sunday, June 17 in Phoenix, Arizona. The other locations are July 15 in Portland, Oregon; August 12 in Denver, Colorado; and we conclude the Festival of Champions on September 2 in Los Angeles.
We will be announcing matches in the coming weeks, but I can reveal two bouts for the June 17th card in Phoenix this evening: Magnum TA will face Greg Valentine and Junkyard Dog will take on Colonel Debeers.
One more announcement before we get to wrestling action, the UWE competition committee has determined that we will recognize another championship, a singles title which will be known as the Hollywood Television Title. This belt will be defending right here on our ESPN broadcast, giving fans an opportunity to witness a title contest almost weekly. To crown this new champion, we will have a battle royal on next week’s program!
Gene Okerlund: That’s a lot to take in as Lord James Blears makes a series of huge announcements. Festival of Champions promises to be one of the biggest events in wrestling history, and next week we get a huge event right here on the program as we will crown our first Hollywood Television Champion. I am sure the talent in the UWE will be lining up for a shot at that belt! Let’s get to the ring for our first match of the evening. Take it away Rod Trongard and Dutch Mantell.

Billy Jack Haynes defeats Black Bart via pinfall.
Gene Okerlund: Joining me is a team who has their sights set on the world tag-team titles, one of the most popular duos in wrestling, the Rock and Roll Express.
Ricky Morton: Be warned Captain Lou and your Samoans, Rock and Roll is coming for you. At the title tournament, things weren’t fair, jack. We got robbed, but we ain’t ones to come out here crying. What we want is another shot at those belts. This time, it don’t matter how much cheating goes on, we’re walking away as the world championship.
Robert Gibson: Tell us who we have to fight, who we have to beat to get another shot at those belts. We want those Samoan boys in the ring again. We’re ready to do whatever it takes to earn that shot and to walk away with gold this time. Put ‘em up, we’ll take ‘em down.

Gene Okerlund: We just learned from Lord James Blears that Magnum TA will take on Greg Valentine at the first Festival of Champions event in Phoenix. The two men have been escalating their feud every week, I can’t even imagine what things will be like by the time we get to the Festival. Joining us now is the popular Magnum TA.
Magnum TA: Thank you Gene and thank you to Lord James Blears for your announcement. It’s no secret that things aren’t going well between Greg Valentine and myself. Ever since I got here, Valentine has stuck his nose in my business, tried to interfere in my matches, tried to hurt me. Enough is enough. I know how to play by the rules, I know how to win the right way. I also know how to fight fire with fire. You think you’re the only one who can street fight. You’re in for a big surprise, Valentine. For all the fans out there in TV-land, for all the fans who come to the arenas, for all of them, you will be taken down.
Gene Okerlund: Magnum is not one to mince words. He’s gunning for Valentine and the two are sure to have an epic battle at the Festival of Champions. Let’s head to the ring as the Cowboy Scott Casey takes on Bad News Allen.

Scott Casey defeats Bad News Allen via DQ when Allen shoves the ref who was trying to get him to break a choke-hold.
Gene Okerlund: Bad News Allen has never been one to play by the rules and it cost him tonight. Fans, this part of the show is never my favorite segment. Joining us now is the duo known as the Army of Darkness, Kevin Sullivan and Maha Singh.
Kevin Sullivan: Darkness resides in us all. For some, it is a strong force, for others it is growing, it is festering, it is an energy you cannot shake. Embrace the evil. As the power continues to grow inside Maha Singh, we will become a force that no one, that no being of this world, can stop. I have fought the best wrestlers in the all over the world. And each and every time I’m the one who is still standing. It will be more of the same when we get in the ring.
Jake Roberts: How lucky some people must me. Roddy Piper, you must have licked a four leaf clover. At Title Weekend, you got a bye when I was still fighting. In the finals, you had the SuperMesquito Jimmy Snuka help you win the belt. You are a fraud of a champion and I will expose you soon. A snake does not need help, we hunt alone. We pounce on our prey and take what’s ours. That title belt, it’s mine. And it will be home soon.
Gene Oklerlund: Jake Roberts makes some harsh accusations against Roddy Piper, accusing him of not winning the title fair and square. We’ll hear from the world champion later in the program. It’s time for our next match as Jimmy Snuka returns to action against Matt Bourne.

Gene Okerlund: While some people out in Hollywood may scoff at the cowboy demeanor of Ron Bass, I promise no one will say it to his face. With his ever-present bullwhip, joining us is Ron Bass.
Ron Bass: I’ve always heard that California had a lot of pansies, a lot of pretty boys. Those rumors were right. But as we travel all over, I see those sissies aren’t limited to California, they are all over the country. One of the biggest pansies is this Chico Santana. Back on the ranch, your kind is nothing but the help, someone we give the jobs we don’t want to do. When you get out of line, you get taken the woodshed. Unfortunately for you, there is no woodshed but rather a wrestling ring. Like a stray dog in Tijuana, you are going to beaten, you are going to get put in your place.

Lord James Blears, matchmakers, I don’t care who signs the contract, just get it done: I want to defend this belt against Roberts and shut him up once and for all.
Gene Okerlund: The accusations that Piper somehow didn’t earn his world title is obviously irking the champ. He’s demanded a match against Jake Roberts. We’ll get an answer from Lord James Blears next week. It’s now time for our main event with a huge tag team match.

The Sheepherders w/ Jonathan Boyd defeated the Killer Bees via pinfall when Jonathan Boyd interfered causing Brunzell to be pinned.
Gene Okerlund: The Sheepherders are making a name for themselves as one of the most vicious teams in all of wrestling. I am sure the Killer Bees will be seeking revenge for that triple team.
