Gene Okerlund: Welcome to the second night of our historic Title Weekend! This evening you have the privilege of seeing who will be crowned of our first UWE heavyweight champion. Here to talk more about the heavyweight title tournament is UWE President Lord James Blears.
Lord James Blears: Tonight we have assembled some of the best wrestlers in the entire world to compete for the honor, the privilege, of being called UWE World Heavyweight Champion. The first time any wrestler laces up his boots, he lets himself dream about becoming a world heavyweight champion. Tonight, someone's dream is going to become a reality. The UWE competition committee has scrutinized the field and has released the official bracket for tonight's title tournament:
Rowdy Roddy Piper v. Jumbo Tsuruta
Magnum TA v. Greg Valentine
Tito Santana v. Jake Roberts
Billy Jack Haynes v. Adrian Adonis
Any of these contests could be main event around the world. This evening, you get all those matches and more! Also making an appearance tonight will be the new UWE world tag-team champions, the Wild Samoans, who won the title last night in San Diego. They will face the tough team of the Killer Bees in their first title defense.
Gene Okerlund: We have an amazing night of wrestling in store for you this evening! Before we started, here to honor our country with the signing of the national anthem is music superstar Rick Springfield.
---Rick Springfield performs the national anthem---
At the conclusion of the anthem, Colonel Debeers comes to ringside and grabs the house mic.
Colonel Debeers: Why do you people rise for an anthem of a country as pathetic as the United States?! In South Africa, we don’t have lawlessness, we don’t let savages run through the streets checked. In South Africa, people know their place and there are consequences when they get out of line…
--Someone runs to the ring to interrupt the Colonel’s rant. It’s JUNKYARD DOG! JYD administers a few shots to Debeers before the Colonel flees to the back. JYD grabs the American flag and waves it to the adulation of the audience and numerous USA chants as he exists the arena---
Gene Okerlund: Colonel Debeers just learned that happens when you bad-mouth this country! People like Junkyard Dog are ready and willing to stand up for ‘ol Glory! Let’s get the title tournament started with our first match of the evening.
Match #1
Magnum TA and Greg Valentine get the evening started out in a big way with a double disqualification contest (13:29) The match started with Valentine using every underhanded tactic he could while Magnum did his best to stay within the rulebook. Finally, Magnum hit his breaking point and an all brawl ensued. Magnum made it clear to Valentine that he could fight fire with fire. The referee lost control of the match when the contestants headed to the ring apron. He had no choice but to call for the bell as the two men continued to viciously attack each other. Finally, security intervened as both men look like they'd taken quite a beating.
Match #2
Roddy Piper defeated Jumbo Tsuruta w/ Classy Freddie Blassie via pinfall (12:45). This was an even fight that saw Tsuruta eventually gain the upper hand. Piper rallied and foiled attempted interference by the Classy One. Because of the double DQ in the Magnum/Valentine match, Piper advances to the finals.
Match #3
Jake Roberts defeated Tito Santana via pinfall (9:46). Roberts was simply too much for the Mexican star as he scored a clean pinfall victory following a DDT.
Match #4
Billy Jack Haynes defeated Adrian Adonis w/ Freddie Blassie via pinfall following a diving knee drop and pin (8:56). It was a bad night for Blassie as both his men lost, leaving Adonis and him to bicker as they retreated to the back. The popular Portland star advances to the next round.
Match #5
UWE Tag-Team Champions The Wild Samoans w/ Captain Lou Albano defeated the Killer Bees via pinfall. (10:01) The Killer Bees put up a good fight but could not overcome the strength of the Samoan monsters. The champs continued to assault Brunzell and Blair after the bell rang, ignoring the ref's admonitions. The Rock and Roll Express ran to the ring to make the save and run off the champs who seemed rather perturbed at the RRs interference in their post-match activities.
Semi-Final
Match #6
Jake Roberts defeated Billy Jack Haynes via pinfall (13:09) The two men started fighting outside the ring when they fell into a fan at ringside. Billy Jack immediately starting checking on the status of the fan. Roberts took this opportunity to sucker punch Billy Jack, then landed a DDT on the concrete floor! Roberts threw Billy Jack into the ring and quickly covered for the 3 count. After the match, in a heinous display, Roberts draped his snake over Billy Jack in the ring.
----INTERMISSION----
Prior to the start of the main event, Jimmy Snuka arrives on crutches at ringside to speak with Gene Okerlund.
Gene Okerlund: With me now is a fierce competitor, someone who never backs down from a challenge. It must be killing you right now not to be in this heavyweight title tournament.
Jimmy Snuka: You’ve got that right Gene. As a warrior, I live for the fight. The chance to compete it in a title tournament like the one tonight is a dream. It’s a dream that Jake Roberts and Greg Valentine took from me. The doctors say my leg is healing rapidly and I should be back in action in a few weeks. Like I said on ESPN, I will be getting revenge on Roberts…soon.
Gene Okerlund: An ominous warning from Jimmy Snuka to Jake Roberts. Snuka will be joining our announce team who is providing commentary for this match for the VHS recording of the card which will be available at Blockbuster video outlets around the nation in the next month. Let’s get to the ring for our main event and crown a world champion.

Final: UWE Heavyweight Title Tournament
Match #7
Roddy Piper defeated Jake Roberts via pinfall to become the new UWE World Heavyweight Champion (18:41). Both men worked at a frantic pace to start the match. Because he had no semi-final opponent, Piper was fresh and it showed as he gained the upper hand. Roberts knew he was in trouble and resorted to pure rulebreaking to keep Piper at bey. He grabbed an object from out his snake bag and hit Piper, dropping the Scotsman and leaving him in a world of trouble. Jimmy Snuka, who was at ringside providing video commentary, had enough. He started walking towards the ring shouting at Roberts. Roberts heckled Snuka, making fun of his injured leg, Bad strategic move. This extra time allowed Piper to recover. Piper struck Roberts and was able to land an inverted atomic drop. He quickly covered for the 1..2..3! Roddy Piper is the world heavyweight champion. After he regains his bearings, Roberts does not take losing well, attacking everyone at ringside. He and Piper go at it until separated by security. Piper is finally able to celebrate his victory after Roberts is removed to the back.
