San Diego, California
Ring Announcer: Joe Blanchard
Referees: Dick Kroll, Joey Marella
Lord James Blears is in the ring with Gene Okerlund as the festivities begin.
Gene Okerlund: Welcome to night one of Title Weekend. Tonight, we will see who has the earned the right to become the first UWE tag-team champions! Joining us is the Commissioner of the UWE, Lord James Blears.
Lord James Blears: Thank you all for being here to be a part if history. As you've seen on our television program, some of the best tag teams from all over the country have been arriving in the promotion for a chance to win the world title. It was difficult to narrow down the field and ranked these world class teams, but the UWE competition committee has given me the bracket for tonight's tournament. Competing in the first round tonight will be:
The Rock and Roll Express v. The Army of Darkness (Kevin Sullivan and Maha Singh)
Invaders v. Sheepherders
Killer Bees v. Buddy Rose and Doug Sommers
Scott Casey and Steve Simpson v. The Wild Samoans
In addition to all these great matches, between the semi-finals and the final we will have a special treat: a singles match between Junkyard Dog and Colonel Debeers.
Gene Okerlund: What a night this is going to be especially with the addition of the Puerto Rican stars the Invaders. Enough talking, let's get down to business.
Match #1
Rock and Roll Express defeat the Army of Darkness when Ricky Morton pins Maha Sing (8:17). This was an interesting match as the Army of Darkness seemed set on causing havoc rather than winning the match. After Singh was pinned and the Express left the ring, Kevin Sullivan began to chant in tongues as he performed some sort of ceremony on Maha Singh. The two finally left the ring but not before creeping most of the audience members.
Match #2
Sheepherders w/ Lord Jonathan Boyd defeated the Invaders when Butch Miller pinned Invader I (9:40). To the surprise of no one, this match was an all out brawl that spent more time outside the ring than inside. With the ref distracted, Boyd used the pole of the New Zealand glad to strike Invader 1 and leave him prey for the pinfall.
Match #3
Killer Bees defeated Buddy Rose and Doug Sommers when Jim Brunzell pinned Rose (7:58). The finish definitely went against the flow of the match as Sommers and Rose were in control for most of the contest. The arrogance of Rose led him to prematurely celebrate when Blair was down, giving him time to recover and make a tag to Brunzell, who surprised Rose with a running drop kick and pinfall.
Match #4
The Wild Samoans w/ Captain Lou Albano defeated Scott Casey and Steve Simpson when Afa pinned Simpson (7:40) The baby faces put up an admirable fight against Albano's wild men but in the end it was too much as the youngster Simpson fell to a Samoan drop and pin.
---Prior to the start of the semi-final matches, Gene Okerlund welcomed Magnum TA and Roddy Piper to the ring to comment on the world title tournament tomorrow night---
Semi-Final
Match #5
The Rock and Roll Express defeated the Sheepherders w/ Lord Jonathan Boyd when Ricky Morton pinned Butch Miller (16:19) An even contest that saw the victory come when Lord Jonathan Boyd once again attempted to interfere after the referee was knocked down. Robert Gibson prevented his assault when he drop kicked Boyd from behind, forcing him to inadvertently strike Butch Miler with the flag pole. Miller went down, Ricky Morton quickly covered for the win as the ref came to.
Semi-Final
Match #6
The Wild Samoans w/ Captain Lou Albano defeated the Killer Bees via pinfall when Sika pinned Brunzell (13:50) The undersized Bees put up a heck of a fight but they could not counter the strength of the Wild Samoans and the outside interference of the Captain. Albano had the referee distracted as the Samoans double teamed Brunzell and then covered him for the pin.
---Intermission---
As the crowd returns from intermission, Gene Okerlund is joined by Jake Roberts and Greg Valentine who promise that one of them will win the world title tomorrow night. Piper and Magnum come back out to challenge the heels but are kept at bay by security who separates the parties and escorts them to the back before the matches resume.
Match #7
Junkyard Dog and Colonel Debeers fought to a double count out when the battle moved the ring apron and aisle (10:15). Before the match, Debeers lauded apartheid and lamented why he had to face "someone like" JYD. The Dog took issue with these comments and the two furiously went at it in a feud that is growing more intense weekly.

Final: UWE World Tag-Team Tournament
Match #8
The Wild Samoans w/ Captain Lou Albano defeated the Rock and Roll Express via pinfall when Afa pinned Ricky Morton (15:15) to win the world tag team championship. A wild brawl commenced the match before the referee restored some kind of order. The two sides exchanged momentum with numerous near falls. The Samoans finally got the upper hand. Morton was getting worked over, when he somehow mustered one last burst of strength to fight off Afa and make his way for a hot tag to Gibson. Before he could make the tag, Albano moved the ring apron and distracted the ref. Gibson came in to clean house but the ref did not see the pin. He forced Gibson back to his corner despite his protests. This led the Samoans to double team Morton with the ref distracted, culminating in a Samoan Drop. When the ref turned back to the action, he saw Afa on Morton and counted the three. The Wild Samoans win the UWE World Tag-Team Championship. The heel duo celebrates with their manger down the aisle while a distraught Morton and Gibson are left to wonder what happened in the ring. The crowd gives them a warm reception as they finally head to the back.
