---End video package---
Gene Okerlund is stationed at the interview center as he welcomes fans to Superstars of the Ring.
Gene Okerlund: Welcome back to our ESPN audience for another edition of Superstars of the Ring. As you can see from that video, it's not just the wrestling world that's buzzing about Title Weekend, people from all over the world are clamoring to be a part of this historic weekend. If you live anywhere near San Diego or Los Angeles, get there as fast as you can as this will be a weekend of wrestling you will not forgot. Saturday at the San Diego Sports Arena, eight teams will be competing to be named world tag-team champions. Then on Sunday at the Forum in Las Angeles, eight of the best wrestlers in the world will compete for the honor to become the world heavyweight champion.
As we saw last week, stars continue to arrive in the UWE and today will be no different as we'll see the debut of even more of the top talent in wrestling. We'll also hear from the man who made his debut in UWE last week, Magnum TA, along with his mentor Roddy Piper. In addition, Greg Valentine and Jake Roberts will likely have much to say about Magnum's involvement in their match on our last program.
Joining us now is Captain Lou Albano and his entry into the tag-team title tournament, the Wild Samoans. Captain, how do you think your team matches up?
Captain Lou Albano: How does our team match up? Okerlund, you're dumber than these people in the audience look. I'll tell you how the other teams match up to us...they don't. Who's going to stop these savages? Who's going to stand up to these monsters. The Rock and Roll Express? The Killer Bees? Those puny punks can't hold a candle to my team. We are going to win the world tag-team titles, you can take that to he bank, jack..
Gene Okerlund: Captain Lou Albano seems rather confident as we head into Title Weekend. For the Wild Samoans to be successful, they are going to have to take on some world class teams, including this next duo making their debut on our program, all the way from New Zealand, the Sheepherders.
Match #1
The Sheepherders w/ Lord Johnathan Boyd destroy Steve Dupree(FA) and Terry Adonis(FA) and then continue their attack well after the bell sounds.
Gene Okerlund: The Sheepherders have won titles all around the world, they hope to add the world title to their collection this Saturday in San Diego. After that display, it's apparent they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. Also hoping to bring home title gold are our next guests, one of the most popular tag team in all of wrestling, the Rock and Roll Express.
Ricky Morton: Captain Lou Albano wants to come out here and run his mouth, talking all big and bad. The Captain needs to ask around and he'll find out real quick, the Rock and Roll Express don't back down from a fight, daddy. Whether it's the Wild Samoans, the Sheepherders, Rose and Sommers, it don't matter, brother. We are going to leave that ring as world champions.
Robert Gibson: Teams that are bigger than us, that think they are stronger than us. We've faced teams like that our whole career. Here's what they can't do: wrestle better than us. San Diego, get ready to feel the Rock and Roll fever!
---Commercial Break---
Gene Okerlund is at the interview area when he is joined by a very irate Jake Roberts and Greg Valentine.
Gene Okerlund: My next two guests have run roughshod over the area, interfering in matches and generally causing havoc. Last week Magnum TA came to the rescue of Jimmy Snuka...
Jake Roberts: Enough from you Okerlund! What kind of person is dumb enough to enter a snake's den. What kind of person is dumb enough to challenge two of the best wrestlers in the business when he has no chance of winning? Magnum, you've made a dire mis-calculation. You weren't on our radar, you weren't on our list. But after getting involved in our business, now you are. What we did to your mentor Roddy Piper, that's what we we'll do to you over, and over, and over again.
Greg Valentine: Magnum TA, you made an awful mistake son. You should have stayed down in Virginia or wherever it is you're from. You're in the big leagues now. National tv, full arenas. What that means is that there is going to be a whole lot more people watching when we whip your butt. If you have any sense, you and Piper will get in the car and drive as far away from the Forum as you can before Sunday.
Gene Okerlund: Jake Roberts and Greg Valentine are definitely not happy with the arrival of Magnum TA to help his mentor Roddy Piper. I suspect we'll see this aggravation from both sides come to a head on Sunday at the Forum. Let's head to the ring for our next match as the exciting duo of Scott Casey and Steve Simpson are in action. These two young men were cheated out of a victory by Buddy Rose and Doug Sommers last week. Let's see how they fare this evening.
Match #2
Scott Casey and Steve Simpson defeat Matt Bourne and Ron Starr via pinfall.
Gene Okerlund: An impressive win Casey and Simpson. These two exciting stars have to be considered dark horse contenders at Title Weekend. As we prepare for our next guests, I have to warn you all, if you have young children, you may want to take them out of the room for this one. Over the past few weeks, we've seen Bob Roop in action. He's come out on the losing end of his matches and apparently, that was enough to force him into shall we say, a dramatic change. I have been informed that Mr. Roop now prefers to be called Maha Singh and he has different look than we've seen on the past few shows. Here he is now with his "spiritual advisor" Kevin Sullivan.
Maha Singh: This man has taught me, has educated me, into the ways of the darkness. It is from the dark that we derive our strength. The angels among us are the enemy, the enemy of the underworld. This man has given me the power to fight for the darkness, to join the army evil.
Kevin Sullivan: The place that you call hell....we call home. The righteous will fall to the speakers of truth, to those who worship the land below. I am assembling an Army of Darkness that will spread the word of evil and destruction throughout this land. We will give you a chance to join the crusade, to learn the teachings of the underworld. If you refuse, you will be destroyed.
---Commercial Break---
Gene Okerlund: I want to apologize again for the last segment. The UWE does not condone or endorse the bizarre beliefs of Kevin Sullivan and his Army of Darkness. There is freedom of religion in this country and he and his followers are protected in their beliefs.
Before we get to our next match, we our joined by the gravity defying Superstar, Jimmy Snuka, who has been hobbled a bit by the antics of Valentine and Roberts last week, as you can see from his crutches.
Jimmy Snuka: Thank you for having me here, brother. Unfortunately, Roberts and Valentine decided to interfere in my match last week, to sneak attack me. Those cowards tried to take me down in a two on one assault. Thanks to Magnum TA, I got some help. I suffered an injury in that cowardly attack and will be out for a few weeks. While I won't be able to participate in the world title tournament, I will be there at the Forum and will help any way I can to take down Roberts and Valentine. You picked the wrong wrestler to mess with. You will pay the price, very soon.
Gene Okerlund: Jimmy Snuka has strong words for Jake Roberts and Greg Valentine. Get ready for a real treat fans, as in our next match, it's time to see Magnum TA in action!
Match #3
Magnum TA defeats Black Bart via pinfall.
Gene Okerlund: I can see why Magnum TA was one of the hottest free agents in wrestling and we're thrilled to have him here in the UWE! As we've talked about repeatedly, the top names in wrestling continue to arrive in the UWE. Stars not just from the United States, but from all over the world. Joining us now is one of the best wrestlers in Japan, Jumbo Tsuruta, who has joined forces with Classy Freddy Blassie and Adrian Adonis in hopes of winning title gold.
Classy Freddy Blassie: These people watching on ESPN are too stupid to realize that you have before you two of the greatest wrestlers in the history of the world. Why would I expect anything different from you pencil neck geeks. Most of you out there are so stupid you have to think about the answer when someone says "hello". I'll break this down for you nice and easy. Adrian Adonis is as tough as they come, the tough man from the New York City. Jumbo Tsuruta is one of the greatest wrestlers in all of Japan. This Sunday at Title Weekend, one of these men is leaving as world champion. I hope that was simple enough even you can understand, Mean Gene.
---Commercial break---
Gene Okerlund: Before our huge main event featuring Tito Santana taking on the tough cowboy Ron Bass, let's welcome Roddy Piper and Magnum TA. Mr. Piper have you been cleared to wrestle at Title Weekend?
Roddy Piper: Cleared? What does that mean Geno? Do I have permission to enter the ring? I don't need no permission to wrestle, Gene Okerlund. Roberts and Valentine love to come out here and make all sorts of threats. Those threats don't mean a damn thing. You attacked and thought you could end my career. You failed. I will be there at the Forum and those two who tried to end my career will be in for a very long night.
Magnum TA: It's been amazing to be here in the UWE. This man Roddy Piper has been someone I've admired for years, someone I've looked up to. He called and told me he needed some help. I've dealt with people like Roberts and Valentine my whole life. Bullies who can only beat someone when the odds are stacked in their favor. The odds have evened up. On Sunday night, at Title Weekend, in the Forum, the bullies are going to get a taste of their own medicine. Whether it's me, or the Hot Rod Roddy Piper, one of us walking out of there with the world heavyweight championship.
Gene Okerlund: Piper and Magnum are ready for the big world title showdown this weekend! Let's head to the ring for our huge main event!
Match #4
Tito Santana defeats Ron Bass via disqualification when Bass uses his bull rope during the match.
Gene Okerlund: We have not seen the last of these two going at it, I'm sure. Fans, the next time we talk the UWE will have a world heavyweight champion and world tag team champions. The competition will be tough, the winners will have to beat the best wrestlers in the world to walk out with gold. This is a historic weekend of wrestling you won't want to miss. Until next week.
---The show ends with a video montage of the wrestlers competing in Title Weekend and a reminder that those who want live updates over the weekend can call 1-900-UWE-NEWS. The charge for the call is well worth the real time updates as history is made.---
---Television broadcast ends---
