Ken Lucas: “Gordon, it’s always nice to be with you. Firstly, I’d like to thank Mr. Ted Turner for giving us a few moments of very valuable air time here on the Superstation so we can speak directly to the fans who’ve supported Georgia Championship Wrestling and Southeastern Championship Wrestling. As you know, Gordon, the last few months have been very tumultuous for the sport of professional wrestling.”
Gordon Solie: “Indeed they have, Mr. Lucas.”
Ken Lucas: “I don’t want to get all caught up in the weeds, but I do think it’s important to share a little bit so these great fans understand where we’ve been and where we’re going. It’s no secret that the last few months have exposed many of the people at the highest echelon of the National Wrestling Alliance as corrupt, greedy and double-dealing. Without getting into the gory details, I would like these great fans to know that the many have been paying for the misdeeds of the few. That ends right now. I’ve been meeting for weeks now with Mr. Ted Turner, and he has given Georgia Championship Wrestling and Southeastern Championship Wrestling his support to forge ahead as a new union, known as the Southeastern Wrestling Federation.”
Gordon Solie: “That is, of course, a very intriguing development, if I may say so. I think many of those watching will be wondering what this means for their favourite wrestlers and the titleholders from both promotions.”
Ken Lucas: “I'm glad you asked, Gordon. Throughout this time where wrestling has been missing from the Superstation, most of the titles have quite honestly gone far passed the 30 day title defense rules that were in effect by the NWA. All but one major title, actually. I’ll get to that in moment. What I can announce is that in the month of May, we’ll have a very exciting event at the Omni in Atlanta where wrestlers from all over the US will compete to become the first-ever Continental Heavyweight Champion. This will be no ordinary battle royal because when it comes down to the final two, they will have to wrestle to a pin-fall or submission to be victorious.”
Gordon Solie: “If I may, Mr. Lucas, it would behoove me to to mention that some of the men competing in that battle royal include one Bob Armstrong, ‘The Boss’ Austin Idol, Michael P.S. Hayes of the Freebirds, ‘Luscious’ Jimmy Golden and many more.”

SWF Continental Wrestling ‘84 opens up with Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt joining us from the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium, to a huge ovation.
Gordon Solie: “Thank you so very, very much. I am very happy to be joining you all once again here on TBS, for the most exciting hour in professional wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and with me at this time is my broadcast colleague, Charlie Platt. Charlie, it’s nice to see you!”
Charlie Platt: “Likewise Gordon. It’s an honor to be working with a broadcaster of your calibre, bringing our great fans on TBS an hour of Continental Wrestling ‘84 each and every Saturday night at 6.05.”
Gordon Solie: “TBS has been a home away from home for me for many a year, but things have changed a great deal since the last time I was on the air here - as we saw at the top of the program.”
Charlie Platt: “A new order has been established in professional wrestling. Southeastern Wrestling is no longer tied to the established rule of the NWA. We control our own destiny now, and that means at the Omni on May 26, we will have a brand new Continental Heavyweight Champion.”
Gordon Solie: “More on that soon. Tonight, right here on TBS, we will have a whale of a main event as Jimmy Golden and Arn Anderson of the Stud Stable battle ‘The Boss’ Austin Idol and Bob Armstrong!”
Charlie Platt: “That’s an Omni-quality main event right here tonight on TV for you, fans! That is our commitment to excellence here in Southeastern Wrestling. I will also be presenting a Personality Profile segment with one Michael P.S. Hayes of the Fabulous Freebirds. I’m told that Mr. Hayes has something very important he’d like to talk about.”
Gordon Solie: “When Michael Hayes speaks, I’d certainly advise that we all listen. Right now though, let’s go up to the ring for our first contest to see six-man tag team action!”
TV MATCH #1: THE ROCK N’ ROLL RPMS AND THE FLAME (FA) VS. TRACY SMOTHERS, EDDIE GILBERT AND TIM HORNER
A fast-paced match to kick off the show, well, except for when The Flame is in the ring. However, The Flame is a master at slowing the pace to his advantage and he manages to nearly get a submission from Eddie Gilbert with a nerve hold, before Tracy Smothers drop-kicks the masked man in the back.
Eddie is able to get to his corner to tag in Tim Horner, just as The Flame reaches out to make the tag to Tommy Lane of the Rock N Roll RPMs. Lane comes in and is immediately struck in the mush with a dropkick from Horner. Horner then snap-suplexes Lane in the ring, and tags out to Tracy Smothers. Smothers hits the ropes an drills Lane with a flying forearm and covers for the one… two… three! These three future superstars have scored the first win here on Continental Wrestling ‘84.

As we return from break, Gordon Solie is surprised to be joined by Bob Armstrong, who is casual clothes rather than his wrestling gear.
Gordon Solie: “This is quite the surprise. Bob Armstrong, it’s always a pleasure to see you.”
Bob Armstrong: “Gordon Solie, it sure is a pleasure to be here on TBS once again. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to wrestle at home here in Georgia, so this is a big day for me. If I may, I just want to say that I’m very excited to be going another round with ol’ Jimmy Golden for that Southeastern Title at the Omni in just a few weeks…”
Gordon Solie: “Bob, I’m sorry to interrupt you, but I think you might be mistaken. As our viewers saw at the top of the program, Mr. Golden has already been signed to face Austin Idol at the Omni.”
Bob Armstrong: “What’s that now? I was told I was…”
The interview is interrupted when matchmaker Ken Lucas makes his way onto the step.
Ken Lucas: “Bobby, I think there’s been a miscommunication here. When we talked a month ago and you agreed to come on board, I mentioned that there’s no doubt that you would get a shot at the Southeastern Title.”
Bob Armstrong: “Exactly right, and that’s why I’m so excited to be getting a crack at Golden in the Omni.”
Ken Lucas: “Bob, I mentioned that you’d get a shot, but I didn’t say the first shot. That belongs to Austin Idol - he’ll be facing Golden in the Omni. But Bob, you’re in contention for a title as well that night. I’ve given you a spot in the 20-man battle royal to determine the new Continental Heavyweight Champion.”
Bob Armstrong: “So, instead of having to beat one guy, I have to beat 19 of ‘em? Well, I think you’ve got to admit those odds are a bit stiffer than what I was expecting.”
Ken Lucas: “Bob, again, I never said you’d get the first shot - but I guarantee that you can have a shot at the Southeastern Heavyweight Title as soon as Idol and Golden settle their issue, if you don't win the Continental Title.”
Bob Armstrong: “If I don't win, huh? Well... it’s not exactly what I was expecting, Kenny, but I’ll make it work.”
Gordon Solie: “Well, I’m glad that’s all cleared up. I think, Bob, it might be time for you to go get ready for our main event…”
Bob Armstrong: “Wait, main event? I wasn’t told I’d be wrestling today. I didn’t even bring my gear!”
Ken Lucas: “Bob, I called and told the wife earlier this week.”
Bob Armstrong: “Boy, it sure does sound like things have got a bit mixed up? Well, would one of you mind telling me who I’ve got a rassle... in my street clothes... tonight?”
Gordon Solie: “It will be yourself and ‘The Boss’ Austin Idol going against Arn Anderson and Jimmy Golden of the Stud Stable.”
Bob Armstrong: “Idol’s my boss now? You know something… uhhh… okay, that’s fine. I’ve had many a fight before in my street clothes and I’ve won ‘em. I’ll never turn down a chance to hook it up with the Studs.”
Ken Lucas: “I’m sorry for the miscommunication, Bob.”
Bob Armstrong: “Gentlemen, I’ve got a match to get ready for that I didn’t know I’d be rasslin! If you excuse me…”
Gordon Solie: “A rather strange turn of events there. Right now, let’s go back down to the ring to see a brand new tag team in action, The Heavenly Bodies against the Party Patrol!”
TV MATCH #2: THE HEAVENLY BODIES (w/ Sensational Sherri) VS. THE PARTY PATROL
Johnny and Davey Rich get a nice ovation as they slap hands with the fans around ringside, before ‘You Belong to the City’ by Glenn Frey starts playing in the auditorium. This signals the arrival of the Heavenly Bodies, ‘Sexy’ Stan Lane and the ‘Doctor of Desire’ Tom Prichard with their manager Sensational Sherri. The Heavenly Bodies milk their ring entrance for all its worth, teasing whipping off their robes multiple times before they actually do it.
Once the bell rings, Tom Prichard and Stan Lane show a surprising cohesiveness for a team that is competing on TV together for the first time. In the final moments, Davey Rich is caught going for a cross-body block and slammed by Stan Lane. Sexy Stan tags out, but stays in the ring as Prichard applies a waist-lock. Lane then levels Davey with a savate kick, and then Prichard drives him into the canvas with a belly-to-back suplex bridged into a pin for a three count.
An impressive debut here for Sensational Sherri's Heavenly Bodies!

Gordon Solie: “Gentleman, before I get your perspective, let’s take a look at the event that has sparked a crisis in the tag team division.”
[VTR]
3/22/1984
Boutwell Auditorium
Birmingham, Alabama
Southeastern Tag Team Championship:
Arn Anderson and Jerry Stubbs (c) (w/ The Tennessee Stud) vs. Eddie Gilbert and Tim Horner
(Joined in progress)... This young team of Tim Horner and Eddie Gilbert have given the Stud Stable absolutely everything they can handle here tonight. Horner hits the ropes now and connects with a cross-body block on Arn Anderson for the one… two… no! Anderson got the shoulder up. Horner goes to pull Anderson to his feet, but Arn connects with an elbow to the midsection.
Arn Anderson now looks over to his partner Jerry Stubbs, who is trying to pull himself together after recently tagging out. Anderson momentarily glances back and forth between Stubbs and Horner, then grabs Tim by the back of the neck. Oh my goodness! Arn Anderson just launched Horner into his own partner Jerry Stubbs, and the two cracked heads. That’s an old Minnesota Wrecking Crew manuever made famous by his cousins, Ole and Gene Anderson. It’s called the Ultimate Sacrifice!
Stubbs is down on the arena floor now, with the Tennessee Stud tending to him. Horner is out in the corner and ripe for the pickings as Anderson scoops him up into the gordbuster! Arn hooks the leg and he gets the one… two… three! The Stud Stable retain thanks to Jerry Stubbs making the Ultimate Sacrifice.
--Cut To--
The Tennessee Stud is trying desperately to keep peace here as an injured Jerry Stubbs yells at his partner Arn Anderson for sacrificing him in order to retain the gold. Anderson is mouthing off as Fuller tries to get between his two clients, only to be shoved away by Stubbs! Anderson is right in Stubbs’ face now, berating his partner. Fuller again tries to get between them, but again he’s shoved away by Jerry Stubbs, only harder this time.
Stubbs turns around to tell Fuller to mind his own business, when he’s pearl harbored by his own tag team partner Arn Anderson! Anderson is now putting the boots to Stubbs as The Tennessee Stud. Fuller looks distraught for a few seconds, before Anderson makes eye contact with him and tells him to join in. Fuller thinks about it for a moment, but then begins stomping on Stubbs as well! Fuller helps lift Stubbs up so Anderson can plant him with the gordbuster! Arn Anderson then grabs both Southeastern Tag Team Titles and walks off with The Tennessee Stud.
--Cut To--
Gordon Solie: “Truly heinous actions by one Arn Anderson and his associate the Tennessee Stud. Mr. Lucas, I imagine this turn of events presents quite a problem when it comes to the Southeastern Tag Team Title situation.”
Ken Lucas: “It’s a logistical nightmare because Arn Anderson and Jerry Stubbs are refusing to team together ever again, and, in fact, want to face one other. We’re looking into that second option but the situation with the Southeastern Tag Team Titles is simply untenable. So, in the coming weeks on Continental Wrestling, we will hold the first ever Gauntlet for the Gold match where ten tag teams take part over the course of one television programe - it will be a 90-minute special devoted entirely to this gauntlet match. In this match, Arn Anderson will get to pick a new partner, and so will Jerry Stubbs. I can also tell you that some of the other teams involved include Scott and Steve Armstrong, the Roughneck Rose Cousins, the Rock n’ Roll RPMs, Eddie Gilbert and Tim Horner, and several more to be announced soon!”
[END VTR]
As we return from the VTR, The TN. Stud Ron Fuller seems to be chomping at the bit to get a word in.
Gordon Solie: “Now, gentlemen, we’re in the dubious position of having no Southeastern Tag Team Champions because of your betrayal of Jerry Stubbs.”
Ron Fuller: “WE-HE-HE-HE-ELLLLLLL, if it ain’t that ol’ fountain of misinformation, Gordon Solie. Gordon, if you’re the dean, I’d hate to see the quality of graduates! The fact is, Ken Lucas should be in the Atlanta clink right now because he has committed highway robbery. Grand larceny, in fact! The tag team titles belong to the Stud Stable - and if that bald-headed fool Stubbs isn’t up to the task, we should be handed the titles so they can be defended by Arnold here and my dear cousin Jimmy!”
Gordon Solie: “That is most certainly not what is going to happen.”
Arn Anderson: “Yeah, yeah, yeah. We know. Ken Lucas thinks he’s a big shot these days, so he’s going to make me go through nine other teams to get back what is rightfully mine to begin with! Now Stud, I know you’re upset but there’s no need for it. Remember, I’m an Anderson. If Ken Lucas wants to set the bar higher than ever before, I’ll knock it down and take what I want anyway! Nine other teams can show up at the Omni for the Gauntlet for the Gold, but the belts are leaving with me and the partner of my choice.”
Gordon Solie: “I imagine that partner will not be Mr. Golden here, since he’s going to quite busy battling ‘The Boss’ Austin Idol and then competing in the Continental Heavyweight Title battle royal.”
Ron Fuller: “Another case of Ken Lucas trying to put the screws to my Stud Stable. I can see the way it’s gonna be around here, Gordon. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!”
Gordon Solie: “Gentleman, I imagine you should be preparing for your match in just a few moments time.”
Arn Anderson: “There’s no reason for you to ‘imagine’ anything about us, Gordon. We’re going to walk into the ring and play the human game of chess, taking Idol and Armstrong apart limb by limb. And Jerry Stubbs, if you didn’t get enough of me the last time, find someone willing to team with you and show up at the Omni for the Gauntlet for the Gold.”
Gordon Solie: “I’m told that Mr. Stubbs plans to do just that. He will announce his partner next week.”
Arn Anderson: “Another butt to kick. That’s all his partner will be.”
Ron Fuller: “That’s exactly right, Arnold. Ken Lucas, make no mistake, there’s no holding a Stud down and you’ve got three of ‘em right here, buddy!”
Gordon Solie: “Thank you gentlemen. We’ll be right back with Personality Profile, featuring the Freebird Michael Hayes.”

PERSONALITY PROFILE
-- with --
CHARLIE PLATT
As we return, Charlie Platt is joined in Studio B by Michael P.S. Hayes.
Charlie Platt: “Welcome to the Personality Profile. As I mentioned earlier, my guest at this time is the one and only Michael P.S. Hayes of the Fabulous Freebirds. It has been quite some time since you’ve joined us on TBS, Michael.”
Michael P.S. Hayes: “First of all, Charlie, I gotta say it’s good to be home. I spent the last two years down in Texas representing the State of Georgia against the Von Erich family. You know, a lotta people think myself and my brothers lost our way, and maybe our minds, down there. And hell, they might have a point. I can’t speak for Terry and Buddy, but I’ve felt a calling to come home and it’s damn good to be home.”
Charlie Platt: “You mention your Freebird brothers. I know Buddy Roberts is regularly wrestling down in Houston these days. Where is Terry Gordy at the moment?”
Michael P.S. Hayes: “Terry is doing his own thing right now. He was in Japan recently. I know he’s going to tour Australia soon. The Freebirds flew high for a long time, man. Maybe we flew a little close to the sun, so we’ve all gone our separate ways for now.”
Charlie Platt: “Is this the end of the Fabulous Freebirds?”
Michael P.S. Hayes: “In my mind, Freebird Fantasia is forever. Like I said, I can’t speak for Terry and Buddy, but they know I’ll be there for them in a second if they ever need me. Right now, we’re all doing our own thing but someday… someday I think the Birds will be back together. And who knows? Maybe it’ll happen right here in Atlanta, Georgia.”
Charlie Platt: “Michael, with the Freebirds on hold for now, what are your goals here in Southeastern Wrestling?”
Michael P.S. Hayes: “For the first time in my life, I’m letting life take me where it takes me. I just know that I want to spend some time rasslin in front of my people, the Georgia people. There would be no Freebird Fantasia without these people, Charlie. Make no mistake, Michael P.S. Hayes is ready to rock and roll and I’ll never turn down a fight. Heck, that Battle Royal at the Omni sounds like fun because I think that Continental Title would look oh so good around the waist of Purely Sexy.”
Charlie Platt: “We look forward to seeing you in action, Michael. Gordon, back to you in the Auditorium for our next match.”
TV MATCH #: ‘MAGIC MAN’ PAT ROSE VS. MR. WRESTLING II
It’s a homecoming for Wrestling II, who gets a nice reception from the Atlanta fans. II locks up with Pat Rose, and Rose is immediately going for the mask. II fires back with some right hands and then slams the Magic Man. II follows up with an elbow drop and covers for the two count.
Pat Rose fights his way back to his feet and catches II on the jaw with a dropkick. Rose then goes up to the second rope and comes off with a flying sledge. Rose covers and gets a two count. The Magic Man then pulls II to his feet and tries suplexing him, but Mr. Wrestling II puts on the breaks. II connects with a forearm to the face, hits the ropes and connects with the patented knee lift to score the win.
WINNER: MR. WRESTLING II

As we come back, Gordon Solie sends to a VTR promoting the return to Georgia of former World Heavyweight Champion ‘Wildfire’ Tommy Rich.
The VTR is cut off before we reach the end as we return to see ‘Mad Dog’ Buzz Sawyer ranting and raving to Gordon Solie.
Gordon Solie: “Mr. Sawyer, we have a main event…”
Buzz Sawyer: “I DON’T GIVE A DAMN WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!! I’M THE MAN WHO RAN TOMMY RICH OUT OF GEORGIA! I BEAT HIS BRAINS IN, SOLIE! HE WON’T EVER COME BACK HERE! I MADE THE MAN BLEED! I SPILLED HIS BLOOD ALL OVER THE OMNI! HIS BLOOD WAS ALL OVER MY HANDS!”
Gordon Solie: “Mr. Sawyer, that’s about enough of that. We have children watchi…”
Buzz Sawyer: “I DON’T CARE! KIDDIES, TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT ME! I TOOK YOUR HERO, TOMMY RICH, AND I RIPPED HIM APART LIMB FROM LIMB! I TASTED HIS BLOOD ON MY TONGUE! MAD DOG BUZZ SAWYER IS YOUR HERO NOW, KIDS! DO YOU HEAR ME?! I’M YOUR HERO NOW!”
‘Mad Dog’ Buzz Sawyer stomps off in a rage, as Gordon Solie shrugs with relief that this lunatic has cleared out.
Gordon Solie: “Regardless of what Mr. Sawyer just claimed, I can assure you fans that one ‘Wildfire’ Tommy Rich will return to the Southeast very soon. Right now, let’s go to the main event.”
TV MAIN EVENT: ARN ANDERSON & JIMMY GOLDEN (w/ The Tn. Stud) VS. AUSTIN IDOL AND BOB ARMSTRONG
This is a wild brawl that breaks out as soon as Idol and Armstrong hit the ring and begin trading rights and lefts with Anderson and Golden. Bob Armstrong is indeed wearing his street clothes here as he sends Golden over the top rope with a clothesline. Idol decks Anderson, hits the ropes and then clotheslines him over the top rope. Idol and Armstrong high-five in the ring as the Tn. Stud tries to regroup with Anderson and Golden on the outside.
Once the bell is ring, Austin Idol starts off with Jimmy Golden and really has the Southeastern Heavyweight Champion on the run. Idol shoots Golden off the ropes and power-slams him for a two count, before Arn Anderson enters to stomp Idol across the back of the neck. Golden then slides to his corner and tags out to Anderson, who only steps out to the apron long enough to then come back through the ropes and work over Idol with more boots across the back of the neck.
Arn Anderson shoots Austin Idol off the ropes and plants him with a ring-shaking spine-buster. Anderson pops right back up and wipes his hands arrogantly, signaling that it’s over. Arn covers and hooks the leg, but Idol gets the shoulder up at the last second. Arn then goes to set up Idol up for the gordbuster, but Idol shoves him off and connects with a boot to the gut. Idol falls back into his corner and tags in Bob Armstrong!
Armstrong hits the ring with fists of fire on both Golden and Anderson. The fighting fireman slams Anderson in the center of the ring, just as Ron Fuller jumps on the apron. However, Austin Idol is right around the ring, yanks Fuller down, decks him and grabs the Stud’s cane. Armstrong gives Idol the thumb’s up and tells his partner to take care of Fuller. From behind, Arn Anderson knees Bob Armstrong and begins brawling with him.
On the floor, Austin Idol is stalking Ron Fuller with the cane in hand. Just as he’s about to lay into Fuller, Jimmy Golden fouls Austin Idol from behind and grabs the cane. Ron Fuller then immediately jumps back on the apron to district Tommy Young, while Jimmy Golden slides into the ring and drives the cane down on Armstrong’s neck from behind. Armstrong goes down, as Golden slides to the floor again. Arn Anderson pins Bob Armstrong and The Tn. Stud redirects the referee to count the one… two… three! The Stud Stable have stolen the win!
After the match, Ron Fuller celebrates with Arn Anderson and Southeastern Champion Jimmy Golden on the floor. In the ring, Austin Idol comes to Bob Armstrong’s aid, but is surprised to get shoved away when Armstrong comes around. Bob motions that Idol hit him with the cane, and doesn’t want to listen to Austin Idol’s explanation. The fans are clearly torn between the two, but Armstrong waves off Idol and leaves the ring before things can escalate.
WINNERS: ARN ANDERSON AND JIMMY GOLDEN
The camera shifts back to Gordon Solie and Charlie Platt.
Gordon Solie: “We have an unfortunate miscommunication here. Hopefully next week, I can review the footage with Bob Armstrong and show him exactly what happened.”
Charlie Platt: “I imagine Bob just needs to cool down. Tensions run high in the ring. Hopefully it’s nothing more than that because there’s no more popular duo in Southeastern Wrestling than Bob Armstrong and Austin Idol.”
Gordon Solie: “Fans, we are out of time here tonight on Continental Wrestling ‘84. Join us next Saturday night as we unveil the full line-up for the Omni Battle Royal and a selection of the teams for the Gauntlet for the Gold. For Charlie Platt, I’m Gordon Solie saying so long from the Peach State!”

WINNERS: THE HEAVENLY BODIES
