Two questions... 1. What happens to the long inactive promotions? 2. Is there a backstory here as to the formation of the place? IE did the real life promotions break up or go out of business? In answer to #2, I think the story was that antritrust legislation or litigation put the territories out of business in 1984 and new promotions sprang up to fill the void. As for #1, it seems to be handled on a case by case basis. In case of the GWA, the promoter had to be away for awhile and his roster was left intact and, thankfully, he was able to return and get it going once again. In some cases, when the promoter isn't returning, the rosters are dispersed in a draft. Thankfully, things are on the upswing right now and I only see a few inactive promotions. Chito or Kimmel can give you a more in depth analysis, I am sure.

I can confirm #1 and one of the rules is in order to disassociate with the illegal NWA cabal, promoters may not use the names of promotions from pre-1984. That's why there is no NWA, AWA, WWF, etc.. In addition due to the ruling there are no "protected" territories. A promoter theoretically can run anywhere, anytime they please. I have found that despite this freedom, most promoters in this model seem comfortable running in a certain geographic region, even though they are not restricted to do so.

I am planning to do a one off show in Memphis on July 15. I’d love to have some “Memphis Guys” on the show. If you would like any of your roster to participate, let me know.

PWA CROWNS NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS
Pro Wrestling America held an event tonight in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was held at the PWA Arena and in front of a whopping 223 fans. Those fans got to see a tag team extravaganza that showcased 8 of the top teams in the PWA including the hated Nasty Boys and loved Top Guns. PWA Promoter Eddie Sharkey, the trainer of champions, stated tonight's show was to give back to the fans who support his training school as well as give a preview of what to expect weekly from Pro Wrestling America. In the end, Brian Knobbs & Jerry Saggs, The Nasty Boys, walked away with the titles but if the action is this good every week, don't expect them to be champions for long.

Florida wrestling has returned! In our universe, I am going to break with the norm of taping at the Sportatorium. Instead, World of Wrestling is pleased to announce a deal with WTOG, the Florida Superstation, to tape a studio show on Thursday nights that will air on Saturday morning at 10AM (whereas not to interfere with college football) and in syndication across the Southeast.

Memphis Championship Wrestling's tag team division grows and legends return.
With the legendary member of the great Valiant family, Johnny V, coming to manage the MCW tag team champions, The Rock N Roll RPM's, the division has gotten even more dangerous. After beating The Nasty Boys in a street fight for the titles, The RPM's have made open challenges to any team. This may backfire as teams as The Southern Boys, The Stud Stable, The Bees, and more have come in for the title shot.
Memphis legend "Superstar" Bill Dundee and "Fantastic" Steve Keirn have been rumored to return and it has been made official. Both men will be in the WMC-TV5 studios this upcoming Saturday. Also returning is son of the legendary Jerry Jarrett, Jeff Jarrett. Memphis Wrestling is only growing and that is a great thing for the fans. Stay tuned every Saturday at 10am on WMC-TV5 as well as every Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum.

I want to thank Chito for allowing me to move south of the border. I freely admit I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to Lucha Libre, but I’m going to give it a shot. I am assuming that EMLL/CMLL has gone under, and Antonio Peña, rather than going with AAA, is starting “Lucha Universal”. I plan on a TV show, and a bigger show every so often. So here goes my take on Lucha Libre.

A quick announcement about Major League Wrestling. I'm in the process of revamping it, and the new reboot of MLW will debut in early August.
