Joel: “Eric a lot of viewers watching this right now are wondering two things: why should they watch a regional promotion like Championship Wrestling from Florida, and why would a top wrestler compete here, as compared to all these new big time NATIONAL promotions we see all over TV these days.
“Well, now let me start by saying there’s nothing wrong at all with these national promotions, they help keep wrestling the public mainstream, and they are more than welcome to come to Florida. You can bet even yours truly will be checking out their cards when they come to Florida. But allow me to point out a couple or more points of difference.
“One is the travel schedule. When a wrestler works for one of these national promotions, they may be in New York City one day, very nice, then St Louis the next night, then LA, then all the way across the country back in Atlanta, then say Chicago the night after, and I’m not even including afternoon cards on Saturday and Sunday. My point is, yes if you are a national promotion wrestler you are travelling to all these big cities across the country night after night, but when you are living out of suitcase, catching airline after airline, rushing to city after city, where is the time to keep in shape? When is there time to work out and train and perfect your craft between matches? How can these wrestlers so worn down by this travel schedule truly give the fans 100% night after night? It’s just not possible!
“Then let me point out the monetary incentives. This is PROFESSIONAL wrestling. These athletes compete for many reasons: pride, popularity, feuds whatever . . but one thing always overrides all these reasons: MONEY. They have mouths to feed, bills to pay, and yes, the high end lifestyle of a professional athlete one would expect for their sacrifice in the ring. And let me tell you, a wrestler can make a LOT of money wrestling for one of these big time national promotions. I know for a FACT one of their top stars has a contract for over a million dollars over a few years. The key to that is a CONTRACT. This means whether that big star wins or loses their match, goes an hour draw or loses in 5 minutes, they get paid the same night after night after night. Now that’s a good deal, but again I ask the question: what incentive is there for a wrestler to TRULY give 100% in front of the fans night after night when they get paid the same no matter what?
“Let me repeat: I encourage fans watching this to support these national promotions and cheer for their favorite wrestlers, but let me tell you how a regional promotion like Championship Wrestling from Florida works.
“Let me tell you about the travel schedule here and tell you there is no jet setting or living out of a suitcase. I’m not going to sit here and say driving from Orlando say to Miami is a hop skip and jump to Publix: but our wrestlers have the option of being home at night after their match, getting up at a reasonable hour, train and workout, and be at their next match. Simply put, they are in better shape to put on a higher level of effort night in and night out as opposed to if they worked for a national promotion.
“Second, there are no guaranteed contracts here in Florida. We have this pay system called a ‘purse’ where the winning wrestler gets a percentage of a cash prize and the loser gets a smaller percentage. The higher up on the card the wrestler works their way up to, the greater the ‘purse’ and the greater the reward. I mentioned that pride, personal rivalry and other factors motivated wrestlers to win: but what about a bigger share of the paycheck? Fans can be assured that when they attend a match from Championship Wrestling from Florida the athletes they see in the ring are not only in shape, but have every motive possible for winning the match---and I can tell you one more thing Eric Bischoff:
“I guarantee you many of the wrestlers you see here in Florida are actually making MORE per night than many wrestlers in those big ‘national’ promotions, and can assure you that fans who buy a ticket to see a live card from Championship Wrestling from Florida will see the best in the sport doing all they can to prove who is truly . . . . #1!
Eric: “Well said, in true Watts fashion! Let’s go the ring for our next match!

Eric: “Fans, now an update on the Southern Heavyweight Championship. We are going to take you to San Fransico, California where a title shot at that very belt held by the Russian War Machine was was up for grabs in a battle royale. Before that battle royale, let’s take a look at highlights from a match between Magnificent Muracco and Magnum Scott Hall! . . . . .
MAGNUM SCOTT HALL V MAGNIFICENT MURACCO
Muracco receives a very unwelcome greeting from the Cow Palace faithful who back Hall all the way. Muracco uses every underhanded tactic in the book but Magnum with the fans behind him battles back every time until Muracco surprises Hall with an Asiatic spike to the throat off the ropes and then nails Hall with the inverted piledriver and covers him up:
1
.
.
.
2
.
.
.
.
THREE!!!! FANS, a BIT of a shocker as in his WWA debut, Magnificent Muracco has defeated the highly pushed Magnum Scott Hall at 9:10! .
Eric: “But fans, watch what happens later in the evening when a Battle Royale is held with the WINNER getting a chance at the Southern Heavyweight Champion later in the evening as weare left with just a handful of wrestlers competing for that chance to challenge for the Southern Heavyweight title:
BLACK MAMBA . . SCOTT HALL . . . MAGNIFICENT MURACCO . . BOB BACKLUND . . . and GREG GAGNE!
Mamba, Muracco, and yes, Gagne all confer on side of the ring while Hall shakes hands with Backlund on the other, and THEY ATTACK THE HEELS, and in the scrum, GAGNE is thrown over the top rope! Backlund isthrown over by Mamba and SCOTT HALL IS OUT-NUMBERED, 2:1 BY BLACK MAMBA AND THE MAN WHO DEFEATED HIM EARLIER TONIGHT, MURACCO!
The two heels put the boots to Hall, but Hall fights back off the ropes and knocks Muracco on his ass, and collides with Mamba!Muracco pulls himself up on the ropes and a stunned Mamba and Hall stagger up:
MAMBA CLOTHESLINES HALL OVER THE TOP ROPE! HE CELEBRATES, TURNS AROUND AND WHAMMO!!!!
.
.
.
.
MURACCO LIKE A VIPER COMES TO AND PICKS UP AND DUMPS MAMBA OVER THE TOP ROPE! Mamba is outraged and points an accusing finger at Muracco, who pleads his innocence, fans, and Magnificent Muracco is going to face Russian War Machine for the World . . .
.
.
.
.
Wait. Hold that thought:
SCOTT HALL IS STILL ON THE RING APRON! The rules are clear: you must eliminate another wrestler by dumping over the top rope: TO THE ARENA FLOOR! HALL NEVER TOUCHED THE FLOOR, AND HAS FREE STROKED HIS WAY BETWEEN THE ROPES, AND IS RIGHT BEHIND A CELEBRATING MURACCO:
.
.
.
.
Muracco is jawjacking with Mamba, and Hall has his hands on his hips, laughing with the fans, and taps Muracco on the back.
MURACCO BRUSHES IT OFF, and keeps up his argument with Mamba, WHO NOW SEEMS TO BE WARNING MURACCO OF WHAT IS BEHIND HIM! Muracco puts his index finger to his temple to mock Mamba, and MAGNUM TAPS HIM ON THE BACK: AGAIN! Muracco turns around and SLAPS HIM, turns around to Mamba:
.
.
.
.
.
OH NO. Muracco looks like he saw a ghost: he realizes he just slapped:
.
.
.
And he turns around and realizes:
SCOTT HALL!!!
MURACCO CAN’T BELIEVE HIS EYES AS HALL DOES THE HOGAN POSE, AND MURACO IN DESPERATION THROWS A ROUNDHOUSE PUNCH:
HALL DUCKS, KICKS MURACCO IN THE BREADBASKET, AND PICKS HIM UP:
.
.
HE HAS MURACCO UP:
.
.
.
DIAMOND HEAD DEATH DROP!!!!
DIAMOND HEAD DEATH DROP!!!!
DIAMOND HEAD DEATH DROP!!!!
HALL PLANTS MURACCO, AND MURACCO IS ALMOST OUT, COLD,
But with instinct grabs the ropes, pulls himself up as Hall gets ready:

MURACCO HALFWAY UP: HERE COMES HALL WITH A CLOTHESLINE, MURACCO TUMBLES OVER THE TOPS TO THE FLOOR AND FANS:
MAGNUM SCOTT HALL EARNS THE TITLE SHOT!!!!
WINNER, AND EARNING A SHOT AT THE WWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP LATER IN THE CARD, MAGNUM SCOTT HALL, 12:13.
Eric: “Fans, Magnum Scott Hall stood tall and earned a shot at the Southern Heavyweight Championship held by The Russian War Machine, over 300 pounds from Siberia. With the time we have left, let’s take a look at what happened at the end of this match:
THERE WILL BE NONE AS HALL KICKS WAR MACHINE IN THE HEAD, AND THEN LOOK AT THIS:

Eric: “Thank you to our friends at the WWA for providing that footage, and one thing is clear. As Scott Hall brings the Southern Heavyweight championship back to Florida, the Magnificent Muracco will follow with very very bad intentions, and I can announce not only will we hear from the Magnificent Muracco, hopefully with an explanation of his actions, but MAGNUM SCOTT HALL will be here on this very TV SHOW NEXT WEEK to defend the Southern Heavyweight title against:
