LES THATCHER and STAN LANE open the show in the broadcast area, front of a large SMW banner, and they welcome us back to the East High School in Morristown, Tennessee for another edition of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Wrestling the way it used to be. Wrestling the way YOU like it! This week, a mysterious masked man known only as The Flame makes his SMW debut as he takes on Steve Armstrong . . . Bob Orton Jr will be in action . . . Dixie Dynamite will team up with the Rock n’ Roll Express for a 6-man tag team match . . . SMW Champion Tracy Smothers will be in action . . . Bunkhouse Buck will defend the TV Title against a newcomer to SMW, but a familiar face to Tennessee wrestling fans, the Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant . . . And in the main event, Terry Funk makes his SMW in-ring debut against Al Snow! A video is shown, highlighting the feud between the Rock n’ Roll Express and SMW Tag Champs The Heavenly Bodies. Footage includes the Bodies beating Morton and Gibson for the titles in January, as well as Morton suffering an injury at the hands of the Bodies, as well as his surprise return last week.THATCHER and LANE talk about the feud. Les says that Bluegrass Brawl is about a month away, set to take place on April 6 in Louisville, KY and one of the big matches for that card has been announced . . . the Rock n’ Roll Express will challenge the Heavenly Bodies for the titles, in a 2 out of 3 falls match . . . and Jim Cornette will be locked in a Cage at ringside, to keep him from interfering! There’s commotion off-camera, and JIM CORNETTE and THE HEAVENLY BODIES storm out! CORNETTE is livid, saying that this isn’t fair, he can’t properly manage his team while locked in a cage! He’s going to get on the phone with his Mama, and then he’s going to call her lawyers and get this taken care of! Suddenly, THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS show up! Morton and Gibson taunt Cornette, saying that he must not have much faith in his team if he doesn’t think the Bodies can beat them without Cornette around to interfere. There’s a confrontation between the Express and the Bodies . . . and the punches start flying! The two teams tear into each other, and brawl all around the broadcast area. The camera follows the two teams as they continue to brawl, making their way out into the aisle, and eventually through the curtain and to the backstage area! Backstage, the two teams hit each other with everything they can get their hands on, before making their way through a door and out into the parking lot!!! In the parking lot, Morton and Gibson get the upper hand. Morton picks Del Ray up and SLAMS HIM ON THE HOOD OF A CAR! As that’s going on, Gibson pummels Tom Prichard! Screeching tires can be heard, and Jim Cornette pulls up in his car, yelling for the Bodies to get in! Prichard and Del Ray fight their way over to the car, then jump in and the car peels out of the parking lot, leaving Morton and Gibson yelling at them to come back and continue the fight! THATCHER and LANE talk about what we just saw, and Les says that the fans are definitely going to want to be in Louisville for Bluegrass Brawl on April 6 to see these two teams in a 2 out of 3 falls match. MATCH #1: THE FLAME beats STEVE ARMSTRONG via pinfall after slipping an object into his mask, then delivering a headbutt to Armstrong, knocking Steve senseless. THATCHER and LANE interview HARVEY WHIPPLEMAN at the broadcast table. Thatcher talks about Harvey’s debut last week, and the fact that Harvey said that he had a surprise this week that would shock the wrestling world. HARVEY says that he does, but he’s not ready to reveal what that surprise is, so everyone’s just going to have to wait a little longer! Before he leaves, WHIPPLEMAN issues a challenge to Brad Armstrong to get in the ring one more time with his man, Stunning Steve Doll, at Bluegrass Brawl. MATCH #2: BOB ORTON JR beats BARRY HARDY via pinfall after a kneedrop off the top rope. KEVIN KELLY interviews JIMMY VALIANT backstage. Valiant says he’s happy to be back in Tennessee and he can’t wait to go out later in the show and wrestle Bunkhouse Buck in front of all of these great fans. He tells Buck that he’s coming for his TV Title, so Buck had better get ready for the fight of his life! MATCH #3: DIXIE DYNAMITE & THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) defeat RICO SUAVE & RANDY TYLER & TERRY EMBRY via pinfall when Dynamite pins Rico Suave after the Confederate Kick. MATCH #4: TRACY SMOTHERS beats THE CUBAN ASSASSIN via pinfall in a non-title match after hitting the Tennessee Jawjacker. LES THATCHER and STAN LANE are joined at the broadcast table by HARVEY WHIPPLEMAN. HARVEY says that it’s time to reveal his surprise . . . and asks TERRY FUNK to come out! FUNK appears a moment later, looking a little confused. HARVEY says that he’s followed Funk’s career for a long time, and he knows the REAL Terry Funk, he knows what kind of man Funk is, and he knows that there’s no way Funk will be able to play second fiddle to Tracy Smothers. He says that he will make Funk the cornerstone of his new stable, and he can GUARANTEE the Funker that he will lead him to the SMW Title! FUNK takes a moment to think about it, then looks Harvey square in the eye . . . and tells him HELL NO!! FUNK says that he’s made it clear that he’s not friends with Tracy Smothers, but he gave the man his word that he would help him rid SMW of Buddy Landel and Al Snow . . . and that’s exactly what he’s going to do, starting with Snow in today’s main event. Funk walks off, leaving Whippleman fuming! Harvey says that Funk is a good for nothing has-been, and he’s going to pay for turning down his offer. MATCH #5 SMOKY MOUNTAIN TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: JIMMY VALIANT beats BUNKHOUSE BUCK (Champ) via KO to win the TV Title by locking Buck in a Sleeperhold after a hard-fought, grueling match. JIMMY VALIANT IS THE NEW SMW TV CHAMPION! MATCH #6: TERRY FUNK beats AL SNOW (w/ Tammy Lyn Bytch) via DQ. Funk has the upper hand late in the match, and hits the Piledriver on Snow, but HARVEY WHIPPLEMAN and STEVE DOLL jump into the ring, and they attack Funk as he has Al covered. From there, BUDDY LANDEL hits the ring as well, and Landel, Snow, Doll and Whippleman pummel Terry Funk. Landel takes Funk’s own branding iron, and bashes him in the head with it! TRACY SMOTHERS and BRAD ARMSTRONG hit the ring and chase the heels off, before checking on Funk. After getting to his feet, FUNK takes the house mic from the ring announcer, and, with blood streaming down his face, he cuts a promo saying that each and every one of those rats involved in that attack are going to be very, VERY sorry! THATCHER and LANE wrap up the show, then hype next week’s program. Next week, we’ll hear from Harvey Whippleman regarding that attack we just witnessed on Terry Funk. As well, the Flame will be in action, former WWF Intercontinental Champ Tito Santana will face Bob Orton Jr and Bunkhouse Buck will get a rematch with Jimmy Valiant for the TV Title.

LES and STAN then welcome the third member of their broadcast team . . . DUTCH MANTELL. DUTCH says he’s happy to be back in SMW and working with Les and Stan. This week, Jim Duggan and the Flame will both be in singles action . . . former WWF IC Champ Tito Santana squares off with another former WWF star, Cowboy Bob Orton Jr . . . Jimmy Valiant defends his newly-won SMW TV Title against the man he took it from, Bunkhouse Buck . . . And in the main event, Buddy Landel & Al Snow, with Harvey Whippleman in the corner, take on SMW Champion Tracy Smothers & Terry Funk! FOOTAGE is shown from last week’s show, where TERRY FUNK turned down HARVEY WHIPPLEMAN’S offer to manage him. Then Harvey aligned himself with AL SNOW and BUDDY LANDEL as they attacked Funk after the main event and left him a bloody mess.THATCHER, LANE and MANTELL talk about that incident from last week’s show, and then talk about today’s main event, where Snow and Landel and will face Funk and Tracy Smothers. MATCH #1: JIM DUGGAN (w/ Sgt. Slaughter) beats THE CUBAN ASSASSIN via pinfall after hitting the Football Tackle. FOOTAGE is shown from last week’s show, where it’s announced that Jim Cornette will be locked in a cage at ringside for the Heavenly Bodies vs Rock n’ Roll Express 2 out of 3 falls match coming up on April 6 at Bluegrass Brawl. This leads to a confrontation between the two teams, and eventually a brawl that goes out into the parking lot, where the Bodies and Cornette escape in Cornette’s car.MATCH #2: THE FLAME beats BARRY HARDY via pinfall after a Piledriver THATCHER talks about another wrestler returning to SMW, someone that we haven’t seen in the area since about 1992. MUSIC VIDEO airs featuring Rip Rogers, decked out in pink attire, set to the Weather Girls’ “It’s Raining Men”. It features Rogers wrestling, as well as several clips of Rogers outside the ring, like Rip getting his hair done.THATCHER, LANE and MANTELL talk about Rip Rogers and his return to SMW on next week’s show. MATCH #3: TITO SANTANA beats BOB ORTON JR via DQ when Orton pulls the ref in front of him as Santana goes for a diving forearm smash off the ropes. The ref takes the full force of the forearm and is knocked to the mat. While he’s down and out, Orton pummels Tito and hits a Neckbreaker just as the ref comes to, but instead of making the count, the ref calls for the bell and declares Tito the winner via disqualification. After the match, BOB ORTON storms over to the announcer’s table, and demands the microphone. ORTON complains about the way the match ended, and refers to Santana as a “wetback”, and says that he doubts Santana is here legally, saying he may have to put in a call to INS. ORTON goes on to say that the only way Tito could beat him was with a cheap DQ victory, and challenges Santana to a rematch, this time a match where there will be no DQ’s, and he guarantees that Santana won’t be able to beat him. MATCH #4 SMW TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP: JIMMY VALIANT (Champ) beats BUNKHOUSE BUCK via pinfall. Late in the match, one of the turnbuckle pads has been removed, and Buck attempts to slam Valiant’s head into the exposed turnbuckle. Valiant is able to block it, and then sends Buck face-first into the steel instead! As Buck stumbles out of the corner, in a daze, Valiant runs the ropes and hits a bionic elbow that puts Buck on the mat for the 1, 2, 3! DUTCH MANTELL is standing by with JIM CORNETTE and SMW Tag Team Champions THE HEAVENLY BODIES: TOM PRICHARD & JIMMY DEL RAY. CORNETTE talks about the announcement made last week, that he will be locked in a cage at ringside when his men defend the SMW Tag Titles against Morton and Gibson at Bluegrass Brawl. Jim says that he’s got his Mama’s lawyers on it, and this isn’t going to stand. PRICHARD doesn’t see what the big deal is, he knows that he and Del Ray are the better team, and they’ll beat Morton and Gibson any time they face them. CORNETTE doesn’t seem to share Prichard’s confidence and looks worried as Mantell sends us to a commercial break. MATCH #5: “NATURE BOY” BUDDY LANDEL & AL SNOW (w/ Harvey Whippleman & Tammy Lyn Bytch) defeat TRACY SMOTHERS & TERRY FUNK via referee’s stoppage. The match is action-packed, as these two teams want nothing more than to destroy the other. Late in the match, Harvey gets up on the ring apron and distracts referee Dave Hebner, and while he’s doing that, THE FLAME rushes to the ring. He slides into the ring, and THROWS A FIREBALL IN TRACY SMOTHERS’ FACE!!!Smothers drops to the mat, clutching his face in agony. Dave Hebner turns his attention back to the match, and after getting a look at Tracy’s face, calls for the bell, declaring that Smothers is unable to continue. As Whippleman, Landel and Snow gloat about the victory, medical personnel rush to the ring to help Tracy Smothers. The heels quit their gloating and beat a hasty retreat when Terry Funk jumps out of the ring and chases after them! THATCHER, MANTELL and LANE wrap up the show, then hype next week’s program. Next week, Rip Rogers makes his in-ring return to SMW, America’s Team will be in tag team action, and Bob Orton Jr will face Tito Santana in a No DQ match.

This means that SMW will now recognize the NWA World Heavyweight and NWA World Tag Team Champions. LES, STAN and DUTCH then talk about the issue between Tracy Smothers, Terry Funk, Buddy Landel and Al Snow. Les introduces footage from two weeks ago, when Funk and Snow went one on one. TWO WEEKS AGO ON SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING TERRY FUNK v. AL SNOW:
Funk has the upper hand late in the match, and hits the Piledriver on Snow, but HARVEY WHIPPLEMAN and STEVE DOLL jump into the ring, and they attack Funk as he has Al covered.

If Landel and the Flame win, whoever gets the winning decision will get a shot at Smothers’ SMW Title next week. If Smothers and Funk win, the Flame has to unmask. THATCHER then interviews BUDDY LANDEL, AL SNOW and THE FLAME at the broadcast table. LANDEL gloats about the Flame burning Tracy Smothers last week, turning him into a crispy critter. He then brags about what he and the Flame will do to Funk and Smothers today. Landel says that after they win, whether it’s him, or the Flame, challenging Smothers next week, either way, there will be a new SMW Champ crowned! THE FLAME says that nobody’s going to unmask him, and says that he turned up the heat on Tracy Smothers last week . . . this week he’s got a fireball with Terry Funk’s name on it! AL SNOW talks about SMW banning his Snow Plow brainbuster, and says that he’s been perfecting a new move, one that’s even more devastating, and whoever is unlucky enough to face him next in the ring is in for a big surprise! MATCH #1: “RUGGED” RIP ROGERS beats DIXIE DYNAMITE via pinfall after throwing a handful of glitter in Dixie’s eyes, then hitting a swinging neckbreaker. During his introduction, Rogers demands that ring announcer Mike McGuirk refer to him as “Rugged” Rip Rogers, however, with his all-pink attire, bleached blond hair and frilly ring robe, he looks anything but rugged. THATCHER, LANE and MANTELL talk about an incident that took place two weeks ago, involving the Rock n’ Roll Express and the SMW Tag Team Champions the Heavenly Bodies. TWO WEEKS AGO ON SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING: There’s commotion off-camera, and JIM CORNETTE and THE HEAVENLY BODIES storm out!

Prichard and Del Ray fight their way over to the car, then jump in and the car peels out of the parking lot, leaving Morton and Gibson yelling at them to come back and continue the fight!LES, STAN and DUTCH talk about the footage we just saw, and talk about the Rock n’ Roll Express challenging the Heavenly Bodies for the SMW Tag Team Titles at Bluegrass Brawl in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls match, with Jim Cornette locked in a Cage at ringside! THATCHER then sends us to comments from SMW Commissioner Bob Armstrong, regarding Bluegrass Brawl on April 6 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY. SMW Commissioner BOB ARMSTRONG is standing in front of the SMW banner. ARMSTRONG talks about Bluegrass Brawl, coming up on Saturday, April 6, at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY. Bob then runs down some of the matches that will take place, including the Rock n’ Roll Express challenging for the SMW Tag Team Titles in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls match and Rip Rogers will face Dixie Dynamite in a rematch. BOB then talks about the feature attraction for Bluegrass Brawl. He says that there will be a Team Challenge, between a team of 4 chosen by Buddy Landel, and a team of 4 chosen by Tracy Smothers. The members of the two teams will square off in singles matches, and then in the main event of the show, a 4-on-4 Southern Streetfight! The teams will get 1 point per victory in the singles matches, and a point if they win the Streetfight. The team with the most points will be declared the winner of the Team Challenge. Landel and Smothers will choose their teams in the coming weeks. MATCH #2: AMERICA’S TEAM (Jim Duggan & Sgt. Slaughter) defeat THE CUBAN ASSASSIN & THE MASKED TERRORIST via pinfall when Slaughter pins Cuban Assassin after the Slaughter Cannon, at the same time that Duggan hits the Masked Terrorist with the Spear. MATCH #3 NON-TITLE MATCH: THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Tom Prichard & Jimmy Del Ray) defeat BARRY HARDY & RANDY TYLER via pinfall when Del Ray pinned Tyler after whipping him into the ropes, then catching him and falling backwards into a flapjack, with Prichard grabbing Tyler by the hair and adding some extra force by driving Tyler face-first into the mat. Jim Cornette joined the commentary team at the beginning of the match, and spent the duration of the match there, whining about the way he and the Bodies are being treated by SMW and Bob Armstrong. FOOTAGE is shown from last week’s show, where Tito Santana defeated Bob Orton Jr via disqualification.MATCH #4 NO DISQUALIFICATIONS: BOB ORTON JR beats TITO SANTANA via pinfall after hitting the Superplex. SMW Champion TRACY SMOTHERS and TERRY FUNK cut a promo regarding the main event coming up against Landel and the Flame. FUNK talks about what happened two weeks ago, where he was busted open by Landel, Snow and Harvey Whippleman, and says that he promised he would make them pay, and today, it’s time for Landel to answer for his part in that attack! SMOTHERS talks about the Flame throwing a fireball in his face last week, and says that today, he’s going to repay him by tearing that mask off . . . with the Flame’s head still inside! MATCH #5: TRACY SMOTHERS & TERRY FUNK (w/ Brad Armstrong) VS. BUDDY LANDEL & THE FLAME (w/ Al Snow & Harvey Whippleman). Brad Armstrong came out to the ring with Funk and Smothers, to keep an eye on Harvey Whippleman and Al Snow. The stipulations of the match state that, if Landel and Flame win, whoever gets the pin or submission will get a shot at Smothers’ SMW Title next week, and if Smothers and Funk win, the Flame must unmask. The match is a wild one, as these two teams battle each other with everything they’ve got. The referee gives them plenty of leeway, as they brawl in, and around, the ring. Smothers and Funk seem to have the match well in hand, until Harvey Whippleman makes his presence felt. While Al Snow gets up on the ring apron and distracts the ref, Whippleman hands something to the Flame, and he slides the object into his mask. From there, the Flame, who’s on the apron, climbs into the ring, grabs Tracy Smothers and, while the ref is busy trying to keep Terry Funk from entering the ring, delivering a vicious headbutt with his loaded mask! Smothers is out, he hits the mat like a ton of bricks, and the Flame slips back out of the ring before the ref turns around. Landel pulls Smothers up off the mat and hits a DDT for good measure. Landel covers his unconscious opponent, and gets the 1, 2, 3! LANDEL AND THE FLAME HAVE WON!!! LANDEL WILL CHALLENGE FOR THE SMW TITLE NEXT WEEK!! After the match, FUNK jumps into the ring, along with BRAD ARMSTRONG, and they go after LANDEL and THE FLAME, but they decide to get out of Dodge. Funk and Armstrong check on Tracy Smothers while Landel, Flame, Al Snow and Harvey Whippleman gloat in the aisleway. THATCHER, MANTELL and LANE wrap up the show, and talk about what took place. They then hype next week’s show, which will see Buddy Landel challenge Tracy Smothers for the SMW Title, and Les Thatcher thinks that there’s going to be hell to pay for Landel after what happened in the main event.

Last night, there was an NWA show held in Providence, Rhode Island, and on that show, TERRY FUNK defeated Shane Douglas to once again become NWA World Heavyweight Champion! We’ll have footage of the title change on next week’s show.” MATCH #1: BRAD ARMSTRONG beats LARRY WINTERS via pinfall after hitting the Swinging Russian Legsweep. LES, DUTCH and STAN talk about Bob Armstrong’s announcement last week, that a Team Challenge will take place on April 6 at Bluegrass Brawl. They send us then to Al Snow and Buddy Landel. BUDDY LANDEL, AL SNOW TAMMY LYN BYTCH and HARVEY WHIPPLEMAN are standing in front of the SMW banner. LANDEL says that he has put together a team so awesome, Tracy Smothers and his team of losers won’t stand a chance against them. WHIPPLEMAN says that never before have four superstars, the calibre of these men, ever been together as one unit. BUDDY then introduces his team . . . Al Snow, of course, and the other two members will be THE FLAME and former TV Champion BUNKHOUSE BUCK. The two men walk onto the set. Bunkhouse Buck says that he’s been overlooked by SMW since Jimmy Valiant STOLE the TV Title from him, but that’s going to change on April 6. He says that he’s going to make a statement that nobody in SMW will be able to ignore. SNOW says that there is so much talent on this team, he doubts Tracy Smothers will even be able to find three other guys who will want to face this team! He thinks Smothers is going to have to wrestle this team challenge all by himself! Whippleman, Snow, Landel, Flame and Buck get a good laugh from that, as we go back to Stan, Dutch and Les at the announce table. THATCHER, MANTELL and LANE talk about Buddy Landel’s team, with Mantell saying that Al Snow was right, he doubts Smothers will even be able to find anyone to team with him against a group like that! THATCHER says that Tracy Smothers will announce his team on next week’s show. MATCH #2: AMERICA’S TEAM (Jim Duggan & Sgt. Slaughter) defeat IVAN & VLADIMIR KOLOFF via pinfall when Slaughter hits Ivan with the Slaughter Cannon at the same time that Duggan nails Vladimir with the Spear. Slaughter covers Ivan and Duggan covers Vladimir for the double pin. THATCHER says that we just saw America’s Team, Jim Duggan and Sgt. Slaughter, make short work of the Russian duo, but another foreigner is on his way to America, and Smoky Mountain Wrestling in particular, and had these words for the American fans. LUDVIG BORGA PROMO:Ludvig Borga PromoI couldn’t find anything where he didn’t mention Lex Luger specifically, so let’s just pretend he was talking to Sgt. Slaughter, instead of Luger.THATCHER says that the Hell Raiser from Helsinki, Ludvig Borga, is coming to Smoky Mountain Wrestling, and will make his debut very soon. MATCH #3: “RUGGED” RIP ROGERS beats BARRY HARDY via pinfall after catching Hardy with a German Suplex into a bridge for the pin. DUTCH MANTELL is in front of the SMW banner, and he conducts an interview with THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS. MORTON and GIBSON talk about the match coming up with the Heavenly Bodies at Bluegrass Brawl, a Best 2 out of 3 Falls match, with Jim Cornette locked in a cage at ringside. MORTON says that all the blood that the two teams have spilled, all the animosity between them, it all led up to this match. April 6 is the night that they will pay the Bodies back for everything they’ve done to him and Robert, like putting him on the shelf earlier in the year, and stealing the SMW Tag Team Titles from them. GIBSON says that it’s do or die time, as the Championship Committee has made it clear that there are other teams lining up for a shot at the belts, and if he and Morton don’t win the titles on April 6, it may be a while before they see another title shot. After everything Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies have done to them, he and Ricky aren’t going to let Prichard and Del Ray leave Louisville with the titles. Back at the announce location, LES, STAN and DUTCH talk about last week’s main event, where Tracy Smothers and Terry Funk squared off with Buddy Landel and the mysterious Flame. LAST WEEK ON SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING TRACY SMOTHERS/TERRY FUNK v. BUDDY LANDEL/THE FLAME:
Landel covers his unconscious opponent, and gets the 1, 2, 3!THATCHER says that, with that win, Landel earned a shot at the SMW Championship this week, and that match will be coming up in just a little bit. MATCH #4: STEVE & SCOTT ARMSTRONG beat BOB ORTON JR & BLACK BART via pinfall when Scott Armstrong pinned Black Bart with a crossbody block from the top rope. We go to a pre-recorded interview with JIM CORNETTE and SMW Tag Team Champions THE HEAVENLY BODIES. CORNETTE is on the phone with someone, while Prichard and Del Ray admire themselves in a mirror. Cornette is yelling at whoever is on the other end, telling them that his Mama pays them a lot of money, and wonders if they’re worth the money if they can’t even get him out of this stipulation for Bluegrass Brawl. Cornette tells other person that they’d better figure this out, or they’re FIRED! Cornette then slams the receiver down. CORNETTE addresses the camera, and says that Bob Armstrong and SMW have forced him into this situation at Bluegrass Brawl, where he’ll be locked in a cage, because they know that he can’t properly manage his team that way, and Armstrong knows that the Rock n’ Roll Express need every advantage they can get! CORNETTE says that his Mama’s lawyers are working on getting the stipulation removed, but if Armstrong and SMW can bet that if his team loses the belts due to his not being able to properly guide them at ringside, he is going to sue SMW, and Armstrong personally, for everything they’re worth! DEL RAY says that SMW knows Morton and Gibson can’t beat them, so they have to stack the deck in RnR’s favour. PRICHARD doesn’t think it will matter, he says that he and Del Ray are so far ahead of Morton and Gibson as far as wrestling ability goes, that they could wrestle the match with one arm tied behind their backs, and they’d STILL come out on top! CORNETTE doesn’t seem to share his confidence, and he rants and raves about being screwed by SMW and Bob Armstrong as the segment ends. MATCH #5 SMW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: TRACY SMOTHERS (Champ) VS. BUDDY LANDEL (w/ Harvey Whippleman). AL SNOW comes out to the ring with Landel and Whippleman, but referee Dave Hebner sends him to the back before the match starts, which doesn’t sit well with Landel. The match is a wild, brutal affair, as these two men would rather destroy the other than win the match. During the commentary of the match, Les Thatcher lists off some of the things that have transpired between these two, including Smothers being tarred and feathered by Landel and Snow, Smothers stripping Landel down to his underwear in the middle of the ring, and Landel and Snow retaliating by bloodying Smothers. Late in the match, after a ref bump, Harvey Whippleman jumps up on the apron to distract Smothers. Tracy grabs him by the collar, as Buddy Landel charges at him, but Smothers moves out of the way, and Landel crashes into Whippleman, sending Harvey to the floor. Landel is stunned, and Smothers hits him with stiff rights and lefts. As the referee starts to stir, Smothers hits the Alabama Jawjacker and goes for the cover. The referee is slow to move, but he slowly starts counting. He counts 1, but before he can hit the mat a second time, AL SNOW, THE FLAME and BUNKHOUSE BUCK hit the ring and pounce on Smothers. The referee calls for the bell, awarding the match to Tracy Smothers via DQ. The three men give the Champ a beating, with Buddy Landel shaking off the cobwebs, and getting in on it as well. As Smothers is beaten to a pulp by the four men, NWA World Champion TERRY FUNK hits the ring, and starts throwing punches, but he’s hit from behind by Harvey Whippleman, and that leads to all four men pounding Funk into the mat as well. At that point, the cavalry arrives, as BRAD, SCOTT and STEVE ARMSTRONG, along with SMW TV Champion JIMMY VALIANT hit the ring. Valiant and the Armstrong brothers chase the heels from the ring, then help Smothers and Funk up. THATCHER, MANTELL and LANE wrap up the show, and talk about what took place. They then hype next week’s show, which will feature clips of Terry Funk’s NWA World Title win in Providence, RI. Next week we will also see Brad and Steve Armstrong challenge the Heavenly Bodies for the SMW Tag Team Titles.

LAST WEEK ON SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING: LANDEL says that he has put together a team so awesome, Tracy Smothers and his team of losers won’t stand a chance against them.
THATCHER then interviews SMW Champion TRACY SMOTHERS and the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion TERRY FUNK at ringside. SMOTHERS says that he’ll give the devil his due, Buddy Landel has put together a tough team, but he’s confident that his team will be victorious. TRACY then introduces the rest of his team . . . TERRY FUNK, BRAD ARMSTRONG and the current SMW TV Champion JIMMY VALIANT! VALIANT and ARMSTRONG come out and join Smothers and Funk at ringside. The four men talk about Bluegrass Brawl next Saturday night, and the matches that will take place against members of Buddy Landel’s team, as well as the finale, the 8-man Kentucky Streetfight. SMW Commissioner BOB ARMSTRONG is standing in front of the SMW banner. ARMSTRONG says that the final card for Bluegrass Brawl has been set: The Team Challenge: * BUNKHOUSE BUCK (Team Landel) vs. BRAD ARMSTRONG (Team Smothers) * THE FLAME (Team Landel) vs. JIMMY VALIANT (Team Smothers), Valiant’s TV Title will not be on the line * BUDDY LANDEL (Team Landel) vs. TERRY FUNK (Team Smothers), Funk’s NWA Title will not be on the line * AL SNOW (Team Landel) vs. TRACY SMOTHERS (Team Smothers), Smothers’ SMW Title will not be on the line * TEAM CHALLENGE FINALE: an 8-man Kentucky Streetfight! ARMSTRONG hopes the fans will come out to Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY to support their favourite wrestlers. MATCH #1 SMW TV CHAMPIONSHIP: JIMMY VALIANT (Champ) battles “RUGGED” RIP ROGERS to a Double Count-out at 5:10. The two veterans tear into each other and give the fans a good, hard-hitting match, but the match ends indecisively as the two men brawl around ringside and get counted out. After the match, VALIANT stops by the announce table on his way to the back, and cuts a promo on Buddy Landel’s team, and says that not only will he beat the Flame at Bluegrass Brawl, he’ll rip that mask off . . . with the Flame’s head still in it! THATCHER, LANE and MANTELL talk about the Hell Raiser from Helsinki, Ludvig Borga, on his way to Smoky Mountain Wrestling. LUDVIG BORGA PROMO:Ludvig Borga PromoMATCH #2: THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS defeat PAUL LLOYD & BARRY HARDY via pinfall. Morton and Gibson hit Lloyd with a double dropkick, then Morton pins him. LAST WEEK ON SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING: Late in the match, after a ref bump, Harvey Whippleman jumps up on the apron to distract Smothers.
He counts 1, but before he can hit the mat a second time, AL SNOW, THE FLAME and BUNKHOUSE BUCK hit the ring and pounce on Smothers.MATCH #3 NON-TITLE MATCH: TRACY SMOTHERS beats THE FLAME via Count-out. Smothers tears into the Flame before the opening bell even sounds, and doesn’t give the masked man a chance to recover. A few minutes in, the match moves to the arena floor. As the two men brawl on the floor, Smothers turns the Flame’s mask around sideways! Smothers rolls back into the ring just in time to beat the ref’s count, but the Flame, unable to see with his mask turned around, is unable to get back in the ring and gets counted out. MATCH #4 SMW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Champs) (w/ Jim Cornette) defeat STEVE & BRAD ARMSTRONG via pinfall. These two teams put on a wrestling clinic for the fans. At one point, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson come down the aisle and watch the match, distracting the Champions, and almost causing them to lose. But in the end, it’s Prichard and Del Ray getting their arms raised after Prichard drops Steve with a Suplex, then Jimmy Del Ray goes to the top rope and the Bodies deliver the Rocket Launcher for the 3-count. CORNETTE, PRICHARD and DEL RAY stop by the announce table after the match, and cut a promo on the Rock n’ Roll Express, promising to beat them at Bluegrass Brawl next Saturday. Cornette says that his Mama’s lawyers are still working on getting rid of the stipulations that would have him locked in a cage at ringside. Cornette says that he’s not an animal, and he will not be treated like one! THATCHER, MANTELL and LANE wrap up the show, and talk about what took place, then they hype Bluegrass Brawl next Saturday night, and Thatcher says that next week’s TV show will be a show highlighting the matches that will take place at Bluegrass Brawl.
