VETERANS MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM IN DES MOINES, IOWA
SHANE DOUGLAS beats THE TERRORIST. Despite the masked man using every dirty trick in the book, Douglas gets the win after hitting the Terrorist with the Belly to Belly Suplex for the pinfall.
“THE ALL-AMERICAN” RON SIMMONS beats GENICHIRO TENRYU (w/ Mr. Matsuda). Tenryu has the advantage in experience, but he simply gets overpowered by the former Florida State Seminole. Simmons gets the win after backdropping his way out of a Piledriver attempt, and then hitting a shoulderblock off the ropes, followed by a diving shoulderblock from the top turnbuckle for the pinfall.
TIGER MASK (w/ Mr. Matsuda) battles OWEN HART to a time-limit DRAW. This match was signed after Tiger Mask attacked Owen last night on television, and destroyed the Young Lions Cup trophy. Owen tears into Tiger Mask to start, and stuns the masked man, backing him into the corner with a series of chops to the chest. With Tiger Mask against the turnbuckles, Owen monkey flips him out of the corner. From there, Owen goes to work on the knee of the masked man, looking to slow him down. Tiger Mask soon turns the tide, battling back to his feet, and using his good leg to deliver several lightning-quick kicks to the ribs, followed by a spinning jump kick, catching Hart in the face. TM continues to work Hart over, and gets several nearfalls, but Owen always manages to get a shoulder up. Owen eventually makes a comeback, but just as things are really starting to go his way, the bell rings and we’re informed that the match is a DRAW.
THE SAMOAN SWAT TEAM: SAMU & FATU (w/ Diamond Dallas Page) beat THE FANTASTICS: TOMMY ROGERS & BOBBY FULTON. The Samoans pounce on their opponents before the bell sounds, but the Fantastics quickly turn the tables, sending Samu and Fatu out of the ring after a flurry of rights and lefts, and a pair of double dropkicks! Once things settle down, the action goes back and forth, with the SST eventually gaining an advantage when they isolate Fulton in their corner. They take turns pummeling Fulton, and take every opportunity for a cheap shot or some double-teaming. Rogers can only stand in his corner and watch his partner take a vicious beating, but Fulton eventually fights his way to his corner and makes the hot tag to Rogers!
Rogers clears the ring of both Samoans, but when they come back in, both Samu and Fatu attack him! Fulton has recovered enough to come in and help his partner, and the four men brawl in the ring. As Samu brawls along the ropes with Fulton, Diamond Dallas Page pulls Fulton through the ropes and to the floor. This gives Samu a chance to join Fatu and double-team Rogers. They drop him to the mat with a pair of headbutts, then Samu and Fatu each head to the top rope, and hit a double diving headbutt! Fatu covers Rogers for the 1, 2, 3, while Samu stops Fulton from breaking up the count.
AWA World TV champion TERRY TAYLOR beats BOB ORTON JR (w/ Jimmy Hart). Orton is looking to regain the TV title here, but Terry Taylor has other ideas. After a hard-hitting, back and forth match, Taylor gets the win after connecting with the flying forearm smash off the ropes.
PHIL LAFLEUR & STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS & GARY ALBRIGHT (w/ Dick the Bruiser) defeat KAMALA & BRET HART & JIM NEIDHART (w/ Jimmy Hart & Kimchee). Doc, Albright and Lafleur pick up the win in a wild one when Williams pins Neidhart after the Oklahoma Stampede.
AWA Americas champion SGT. SLAUGHTER beats “MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF (w/ Jimmy Hart) by Disqualification. These two jaw back and forth in the middle of the ring when the match starts. Orndorff turns as though to walk away, but then turns and tries to sucker punch Slaughter! Sarge is ready, though, and blocks the punch, then delivers a haymaker that sends Orndorff to the mat. Orndorff rolls out of the ring and talks things over with Jimmy Hart at ringside.
Slaughter gets impatient, and climbs out of the ring and goes after Orndorff. Jimmy Hart gets between them and distracts Slaughter, allowing Orndorff to attack from behind. Orndorff slams Slaughter’s head into the ringpost. Orndorff then rolls Slaughter back into the ring, then motions to the fans that it’s time to end things with the Piledriver! Sarge blocks it, though, and backdrops Orndorff to the mat.
Slaughter controls the next few minutes, but Jimmy Hart once again gets involved, climbing up on the apron and distracting Slaughter. Sarge confronts Hart, but this time when Orndorff tries to attack from behind, Slaughter moves, and Orndorff collides with Hart! Hart tumbles to the floor, and Slaughter grabs the stunned Orndorff . . . and slaps on the COBRA CLUTCH!
Hart is signalling to the back, and here comes the Ugandan Warrior Kamala! Kamala climbs into the ring, while Slaughter tosses Orndorff aside and starts brawling with Kamala! The referee calls for the bell, giving Sarge the win by DQ.
Sarge and Kamala go toe to toe in the middle of the ring, but Orndorff clubs Slaughter from behind! Kamala and Orndorff pummel Slaughter. Orndorff picks Slaughter up, and drops him on his head with the Piledriver! Jimmy Hart then slides a chair into the ring, which Orndorff takes and proceeds to batter Sarge with it!
This brings Terry Taylor out to the ring, and he tries to fight off Orndorff and Kamala. They get the upper hand, knocking him to the mat, then Orndorff turns his attention back to Slaughter, and continues hitting him with the chair! Taylor crawls over, and covers Slaughter’s body with his own, taking several chairshots from Orndorff.
At this point, Phil Lafleur, Steve Williams, Gary Albright, and Ron Simmons all hit the ring and chase the heels off, then check on Slaughter and Taylor.
