Jim Cornette tried to interfere several times, and finally, Gibson had enough of that, and grabbed Cornette as he got up on the ring apron. Gibson then sent Cornette back to the floor with a big right hand, much to the delight of the fans in attendance. In the end, Buck knocked Gibson out to the ring apron, but Gibson used the top rope to slingshot himself back into the ring and into a Sunset Flip for the 1, 2, 3. - MATCH #4: BRAD ARMSTRONG beat “STUNNING” STEVE DOLL via pinfall after hitting the Swinging Russian Legsweep. The biggest stars and the biggest brawls. The biggest hits and the biggest falls. Non stop action, no messin' around, pretty soon we're comin' to your town. The way you like it, way it used to be...Smoky Mountain Wrestling's on TV." - LES THATCHER and STAN LANE are ringside to open the show, and they welcome us to the Memorial Auditorium in Greenville, SC for another edition of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Wrestling the way it used to be. Wrestling the way YOU like it! This week, World Champion Tracy Smothers and Buddy Landel will both be in singles matches . . . The Southern Boys, Chris Michaels and Steve Armstrong, will have their first match as a team . . . Bunkhouse Buck will defend the TV title against Dixie Dynamite . . . plus, we’ll hear from the Mounties, and see if they will accept the challenge issued last week by America’s Team for a Flag match on today’s show! We’ll also hear from both Brad Armstrong and “Stunning” Steve Doll regarding what took place at the end of their match on last week’s show. - THATCHER talks with THE MOUNTIES at ringside. Les asks them about the challenge made last week by America’s Team, for a match this week with the stipulation that the losing team must salute the flag of the winning team in the middle of the ring. JACQUES accepts the challenge. He says that Duggan and Slaughter can’t beat them, that much should be obvious, even to these idiot fans. PIERRE says that he can’t wait for all these inbred hillbillies watch their heroes, Duggan and Slaughter, salute the Canadian flag! Then they’ll have no choice but to accept the fact that Canada, and Canadian wrestlers, are superior! - MATCH #1 NON-TITLE: TRACY SMOTHERS beat BARRY HARDY via pinfall at 3:04 following the Alabama Jawjacker. - THATCHER talks with SMW World Champion TRACY SMOTHERS in the ring after the match. TRACY talks about winning the World Title at Final Resolution, and realizing his dream. He says that he’s going to be a fighting Champion, he won’t duck any challenge. BUDDY LANDEL, flanked by his advisor AL SNOW and personal assistant TAMMY LYN BYTCH, climbs into the ring and interrupts the interview. LANDEL says that it should be HIM standing in this ring as World Champion, he had Smothers beat at Final Resolution. Smothers was only seconds away from submitting to his Abdominal Stretch when that punk Brad Armstrong got involved and saved Smothers. AL SNOW complains about a conspiracy, involving the Armstrong family and Tracy Smothers, to keep guys like him and Buddy Landel, the TRUE superstars in SMW, away from the title. He says that the only reason Smothers is even holding that belt is because he’s a Bob Armstrong puppet! LANDEL agrees, and says that Smothers comes out here and talks about being a fighting Champion. He says that if Smothers really wants to prove that, and prove that he’s not just the “paper” Champion that Landel knows he is, he’ll put the belt on the line against him. SMOTHERS gets in Landel’s face and says that he’s his own man, he’s nobody’s puppet. He tells Landel he’ll face him any time, anywhere. LANDEL smiles, and says that right here next week sounds just fine to him. SMOTHERS accepts and tells Landel that he’s going to eat his words next week. THATCHER sends us to a break as Smothers and Landel have a staredown in the ring. - MATCH #2: “NATURE BOY” BUDDY LANDEL (w/ Tammy Lyn Bytch) beat TOM BURTON via submission with the Figure-4 Leglock at 4:10. - MATCH #3: THE SOUTHERN BOYS (Steve Armstrong & Chris Michaels) beat JOE SAVOLDI & SCOTT MCKEEVER at 4:34 when Michaels pinned McKeever with a diving forearm smash off the ropes. - THATCHER talks with SMW World Tag Team Champions THE HEAVENLY BODIES and JIM CORNETTE at ringside. Cornette gloats about his team winning the World Tag Titles, and the fact that they put Ricky Morton out of wrestling for good. Les says that he’s sure Morton will be back, but Cornette just scoffs at that, and says that after the hurting they put on Morton, there’s no way he’ll come back. He says that Morton’s career is over, and Robert Gibson is next! - THATCHER and LANE talk a little bit about last week’s main event, between Brad Armstrong and “Stunning” Steve Doll. Armstrong gets the pinfall on Doll after hitting the Swinging Russian Legsweep, after Doll had blocked a previous attempt.
After the match, Doll attacked Armstrong, and tosses him out of the ring. On the outside, Doll repeatedly slams Armstrong’s head into the ring post, then clobbers him with a chair. Doll throws Brad back into the ring, and hits two Corkscrew elbowdrops before Tracy Smothers and Dixie Dynamite arrivded on the scene and chased Doll out of the ring.THATCHER says that he’s sure Brad Armstrong is going to want a rematch, and he thinks that Doll might be very sorry when that rematch takes place. - MATCH #4 SMW TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP: BUNKHOUSE BUCK (Champ) (w/ Jim Cornette) beats DIXIE DYNAMITE via pinfall at 5:40. Dynamite had the match in hand, but when he went for a flying bodypress from the top rope, Buck moved out of the way, and Dixie crashed to the mat. Buck then pulled his opponent up, and dropped him on his head with a vicious Piledriver for the pinfall victory. - KEVIN KELLY is standing in front of an SMW banner. He runs down some of the upcoming events that will take place in February: * Tomorrow night, February 3, in Beckley, WV at the Raleigh County Armory. Fans will see World Champ Tracy Smothers put the belt on the line against Buddy Landel, a rematch between Brad Armstrong and Steve Doll, and in the main event, Robert Gibson teams up with Hacksaw Jim Duggan to challenge the Heavenly Bodies for the World Tag Team Titles! * Monday night, February 4 in Morristown, TN at the East High School. On that card, Robert Gibson squares off with Bunkhouse Buck in a non-title match, America’s Team will challenge the Heavenly Bodies for the World Tag Team Titles, and in the main event, the World Title will be on the line as Tracy Smothers defends against Buddy Landel! * Thursday night, February 7, at the Cumberland High School in Cumberland, KY for a TV taping! * Thursday night, February 21 in Knoxville, TN at the Civic Coliseum. This all-star card will be highlighted by Tracy Smothers and a mystery partner taking on Buddy Landel and Al Snow. The World Tag Team Titles and the SMW TV Title will also be defended on the show! * Thursday night, February 28 in Paintsville, KY at the Paintsville High School. The main event will be a 12-man Battle Royal featuring all the top stars of Smoky Mountain Wrestling! - THATCHER talks with AL SNOW at ringside. Snow goes on about a conspiracy theory, that goes all the way to the top, right to Commissioner Bob Armstrong. He says that there’s no other explanation as to why he and Buddy Landel are being held down. Armstrong knows that Snow and Landel aren’t puppets, he knows he can’t control them, so he’s doing everything in his power to keep them away from the championships in SMW. Snow tells Armstrong that he’s on to him, and he continues to rant and rave as Thatcher wraps up the interview. - MATCH #5 FLAG MATCH: AMERICA’S TEAM (Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Sgt. Slaughter) beat THE MOUNTIES (Jacques & Pierre) via pinfall at 6:19. The match is a hard-hitting, brutal affair, with very little wrestling as the two teams simply beat the hell out of each other. In the end, Pierre tries to hit Slaughter with a chair, but Hacksaw Duggan puts a stop to that by hitting Pierre with his 2x4. Duggan then hits the Football Tackle on Pierre and pins him. The Mounties try to leave the ring, but the babyface locker room empties and the wrestlers all force Jacques and Pierre back into the ring, where they have no choice but to salute the American flag, in the middle of the ring. - THATCHER and LANE wrap up the show, then hype next week’s program, which will feature Buddy Landel challenging Tracy Smothers for the World Title!

Gibson says that he knows Ricky better than anyone, and he knows that Ricky will be back, and when he does return, there’s going to be hell to pay for Cornette and the Heavenly Bodies. Robert says that in the meantime, he’s setting his sights on the other title controlled by Camp Cornette, the TV Title. He challenges Bunkhouse Buck to put the title on the line against him. HUGHES (w/ Jim Cornette) beats TOM BURTON via pinfall at 0:54 following the Sidewalk Slam. KEVIN KELLY is standing in front of an SMW banner. He runs down some of the events coming up from Smoky Mountain Wrestling: * Thursday night, February 21 in Knoxville, TN at the Civic Coliseum. MATCH #3: THE SOUTHERN BOYS (Steve Armstrong & Chris Michaels) beat JOEY SAVOLDI & SCOTT MCKEEVER via pinfall at 3:33 when Armstrong pins McKeever with a flying bodypress from the top rope. Before the start of the next match, JIM CORNETTE grabs the house mic from Mike McGuirk, and warns the female fans in attendance, and in any building where the Heavenly Bodies are wrestling, to keep their hands to themselves. From here on out, any woman that tries to grab or grope the Bodies as they come to the ring will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He then mocks the women in the audience for a moment, saying that they all want the Heavenly Bodies but the Gigalo and the Doctor of Desire wouldn’t touch any of these so-called “women” with a 10 foot pole! Cornette goes on to say that Halloween is the only time that the women in attendance should ever leave the house, they won’t even need to wear a mask! Mike McGuirk has heard enough, she grabs the mic back from Cornette and continues with the ring introductions. MATCH #4 SMW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Champs) (w/ Jim Cornette & Mr. Hughes) beat JOHNNY RICH & BART BATTEN via pinfall at 4:09 when Batten was pinned. THATCHER interviews JIM CORNETTE and SMW World Tag Team Champions THE HEAVENLY BODIES in the ring after the match. CORNETTE talks about Robert Gibson, and says that Gibson obviously didn’t learn anything from what happened to Ricky Morton, and says that if Gibson wants to get in the ring with Bunkhouse Buck, and end up in a hospital bed right next to Morton, well that’s just fine with him. PRICHARD and DEL RAY talk about Bob Armstrong’s announcement earlier, that Sgt. Slaughter and Hacksaw Jim Duggan have been named the top contenders to their titles. Prichard says that doesn’t worry them, Duggan and Slaughter aren’t even in their league and Del Ray doesn’t think they’ll even break a sweat in defeating America’s Team. THATCHER interviews BRAD ARMSTRONG at ringside. Brad talks about the issues between him and Steve Doll, and says that he’ll tear Doll limb from limb the next time they meet in the ring. MATCH #5 SMW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: BUDDY LANDEL (w/ Al Snow & Tammy Lyn Bytch) beats TRACY SMOTHERS (Champ) via DQ at 6:58. Late in the match, Tammy Lyn tries to interfere, but the referee sends Tammy backstage. While the ref is distracted with Tammy, Al Snow hands a pair of brass knux to Buddy. Landel uses the knux to bloody Smothers. However, Smothers is able to fight back, and causes Landel to drop the knux. Smothers then picks the knux up and batters Landel. Unfortunately for Tracy, the referee turns his attention back to the match in time to see this, and calls for the disqualification. DANNY DAVIS then comes out and attempts to explain to the referee that Landel had used the brass knux first. AL SNOW jumps into the ring, with a chair in hand, and battered Davis with the chair. Snow then hits Davis with the Snow Plow brainbuster onto the chair. With Davis out of the ring, Snow and Landel toss the referee aside, and then double-team Smothers. Tammy Lyn Bytch comes back out to the ring, this time carrying a sack and a bottle. Landel takes the bottle, which looks to be syrup, and pours it all over Smothers. Buddy then opens the sack . . . and dumps feathers all over Tracy Smothers! The way you like it, way it used to be...Smoky Mountain Wrestling's on TV." LES THATCHER and STAN LANE are ringside to open the show, and they welcome us to the Memorial Auditorium in Greenville, SC for another edition of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Wrestling the way it used to be. Wrestling the way YOU like it! This week, we’ll take a look back at what happened last week when Buddy Landel challenged Tracy Smothers for the SMW World Title . . . Dixie Dynamite and Danny Davis will both be in singles action . . . this week’s main event will see Robert Gibson team up with Brad Armstrong to challenge the Heavenly Bodies for the World Tag Team Titles! MATCH #1: DANNY DAVIS beats RIP ROGERS via pinfall at 4:03. THATCHER talks with BRAD ARMSTRONG at ringside. Armstrong talks about his ongoing feud with Steve Doll. Footage is shown of recent house show matches, where we see Armstrong and Doll trade victories.ARMSTRONG says that he’ll give Doll his due, he’s tougher than he looks, but he humiliated Brad on television, in front of his friends, family and all his fans, and he isn’t going to let Doll get away with that. He says that he won’t stop until he’s run Doll right out of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. BRAD stays ringside to provide guest commentary for the next match. MATCH #2: “STUNNING” STEVE DOLL beats JOHNNY RICH via pinfall at 3:26 after rebounding off the ropes after an Irish whip, and connecting with a diving forearm smash. Doll taunts Brad Armstrong, who’s still at ringside, throughout the match. [img src="http:// i155.photobucket.com/albums/s292/nwaclassics_photos/stevedoll_zps316ca746.jpg"] THATCHER climbs into the ring after the match and talks with STEVE DOLL. Steve talks about Brad Armstrong’s comments, as well as Armstrong staying at ringside for his match. He says that Armstrong thought his presence would distract the Stunning One, and cause him to lose, but Doll says that he’s a master at his craft and nothing can sidetrack him. BRAD ARMSTRONG then climbs into the ring, with Thatcher getting in between Brad and Steve. ARMSTRONG tells Doll that the promoters have signed more matches between them, and the next time they’re in the ring together, Armstrong’s going to shut Doll’s big mouth once and for all. DOLL just laughs and tells him to bring it on, before walking away. [img src="http:// i155.photobucket.com/albums/s292/nwaclassics_photos/stevedoll_zps316ca746.jpg"] MATCH #3: DIXIE DYNAMITE beats PAUL ROMA via pinfall at 3:50 following the Confederate Kick. THATCHER talks with AL SNOW at ringside. Snow continues to talk about a conspiracy against him and Buddy Landel, which he believes originated right at the top of SMW, with Commissioner Bob Armstrong. He says that the thought of Buddy Landel or Al Snow holding the World Title, or ANY title for that matter, terrifies Bob and the Championship Committee, and it keeps Bob up at night, trying to devise ways to screw Snow and Landel out of becoming Champions. BOB ARMSTRONG makes his way out and joins Les and Al at ringside. ARMSTRONG says Al really needs to let it go, he says that if Buddy Landel was able to beat Tracy Smothers, then Landel would be the World Champion right now. BOB then says that he’s out here on official business, and says that the promoters in SMW have decided to BAN Al Snow’s Snow Plow brainbuster. Bob says that it’s an extremely dangerous maneuver, and it’s only a matter of time before he seriously injures someone with it. SNOW is absolutely LIVID! He says that this is what he’s been talking about, the Snow Plow is a legitimate wrestling move, and he’s used it to beat the biggest names in this sport. He says that years ago, during the height of Hulkamania, he used that very move to beat Hulk Hogan, right in the middle of the ring, in front of 100,000 people in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! AL calms down a little, and says that he’s going to have a word with his lawyer, because SMW can’t do this, they can’t ban his big move just because the weasels in charge know that none of SMW’s “golden boys” can get up from the Snow Plow. SNOW tells Armstrong that he’s going to be sorry when Al’s lawyers get ahold of him, and he storms off. THATCHER talks with “NATURE BOY” BUDDY LANDEL at ringside. Landel is dressed to the nines, in a suit and tie. We see footage of Landel and Snow last week as they tar and feather Tracy Smothers after Landel’s match with Smothers.LANDEL laughs, and says that Smothers looked like a 6 foot-tall chicken by the time they were done with him, which is fitting, as Smothers refuses to give Landel a fair shot at the World Title. Suddenly, TRACY SMOTHERS charges out to ringside! Smothers tears into Landel with wild haymakers, then rolls him into the ring. Inside the ring, Smothers pummels Landel . . . then TEARS HIS SUIT OFF! By the time Smothers is done with him, Landel is left in only his tie and his underwear! Al Snow and several other heels hit the ring and Smothers gets out of dodge, but the damage has been done, and Buddy Landel is beside himself! MATCH #4 SMW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Champs) (w/ Jim Cornette & Mr. Hughes) defeat ROBERT GIBSON & BRAD ARMSTRONG via pinfall at 9:43. Late in the match, Armstrong, the legal man, was tossed to the floor. As the Bodies distracted both Gibson and the referee, STEVE DOLL came out and jumped Armstrong. Doll slammed Brad’s head into the ringpost twice, opening up a cut over Brad’s eye, and then rolled him back into the ring, where he was easy pickings for the Champions. BUDDY LANDEL is backstage, still in only his underwear and tie. LANDEL cuts a promo on Tracy Smothers, calling Smothers a worthless sack of shit, and says that the next time he gets his hands on Smothers, he’s going to KILL HIM! KEVIN KELLY is standing in front of an SMW banner. He runs down some of the events coming up from Smoky Mountain Wrestling: * Thursday night, February 21 in Knoxville, TN at the Civic Coliseum. * Thursday night, March 7 at Polk High School in Benton, TN for another TV Taping! LES asks HARVEY what he’s doing here in Smoky Mountain Wrestling, with Harvey saying that he’s looking for talent to manage, and he knew that SMW is the place to find the top talent, anywhere in the World. He says that he’s been watching one man in particular, and asks STEVE DOLL to come out! DOLL comes out, and shakes hands with Harvey, who says that he has signed Doll to a very lucrative contract, but he’s just the first. Whippleman says that next week, he will put together the rest of his stable. HARVEY wraps things up by telling the things that something HUGE is on the way next week, something that is going to change the face of professional wrestling as we know it, and tells everyone that they’ll want to be glued to their TV sets next week! Smothers talks about bringing Randy Savage to Knoxville last Thursday night, and says it was a big night for them. CLIP: Randy Savage and Tracy Smothers defeating Al Snow and Buddy Landel in Knoxville. Savage gets the pinfall, after hitting Al Snow with the top-rope elbowdrop.SMOTHERS thanks Randy for coming in and helping him, but says that Savage has commitments all over the world, so he can’t be here on a regular basis. However, Tracy says that he has brought someone to SMW, who will be here each and every week, and is quite possibly THE biggest name in the history of the sport, a multiple-time World Heavyweight Champion . . . TERRY FUNK!!!!FUNK walks into view, and shakes hands with Smothers. TERRY tells Kevin Kelly that these fans all know him, they know what he’s about, and they’re probably scratching their heads right now, wondering what Tracy Smothers is thinking. FUNK says that he doesn’t particularly like Smothers, but there’s nothing that he hates more than a couple of whiny pretty boys like Buddy Landel and Al Snow. Funk says that he can’t wait to get those two in the ring and rearrange those pretty faces of theirs. SMOTHERS says that Landel and Snow thought they had it bad in Knoxville against him and Savage, just what until they find themselves across the ring from the Funker! MATCH #2: STEVE & SCOTT ARMSTRONG beat PAUL ROMA & MASKED GLADIATOR #1 via pinfall at 5:19 when Scott pinned Gladiator with a bodypress from the top rope. LAST WEEK ON SMOKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING: THATCHER talks with “NATURE BOY” BUDDY LANDEL at ringside. Landel is dressed to the nines, in a suit and tie.
We see footage of Landel and Snow last week as they tar and feather Tracy Smothers after Landel’s match with Smothers.
LANDEL laughs, and says that Smothers looked like a 6 foot-tall chicken by the time they were done with him, which is fitting, as Smothers refuses to give Landel a fair shot at the World Title.
Al Snow and several other heels hit the ring and Smothers gets out of dodge, but the damage has been done, and Buddy Landel is beside himself!LES THATCHER and STAN LANE talk about the footage we just saw. Buddy Landel was not happy, and later on in the show, he promised to KILL Tracy Smothers the next time he got his hands on him! KEVIN KELLY conducts a backstage interview with BUDDY LANDEL and AL SNOW. SNOW talks about Bob Armstrong’s comments last week, where he announced that SMW had banned the Snow Plow brainbuster. He is furious, saying that it’s a legitimate wrestling move, they had no right banning it like that because it puts him at a disadvantage. LANDEL agrees, and says that it’s obvious to anyone with even half a brain that SMW, and the Commissioner in particular, are out to get him and Snow. They ban Al Snow’s most devastating move, and then Bob Armstrong sits back and does NOTHING after Tracy Smothers assaulted him last week! He demands that action be taken against Smothers! KELLY, trying to get things back on track, asks them about Smothers’ announcement earlier, that he’s brought Terry Funk in to battle the two of them. This seems to cheer Snow and Landel up a little. They mock Funk, saying he’s a washed up old has-been, a dinosaur, and Landel says that they’ll retire Funk for good. LES THATCHER conducts a ringside interview with “THE RUSSIAN BEAR” IVAN KOLOFF, GIANT KIMALA and Ivan’s nephew VLADIMIR KOLOFF. IVAN says that it’s been a long time since the Smoky Mountain fans have seen him, but he has regrouped, and now he’s back, with the sole purpose of destroying any and all Americans who get in his way. VLADIMIR says that these Americans in this area are weak, they are soft, and they will pose no threat to him, his uncle, and the Ugandan warrior. KIMALA just looks around, with a wild-eyed look on his face. MATCH #3 SMW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: AMERICA’S TEAM (Sgt. Slaughter & Jim Duggan) defeat THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Champs) (w/ Jim Cornette & Mr. Hughes) via DQ at 8:45 after Mr. Hughes interfered and hit Duggan with Duggan’s own 2x4 after Hacksaw hit the Football Tackle on Del Ray. After the match, TV Champion BUNKHOUSE BUCK hits the ring, and helps the Bodies and Mr. Hughes pummel Duggan and Slaughter. After the heels lay out both Slaughter and Duggan with Cornette’s tennis racket and Duggan’s 2x4, ROBERT GIBSON rushes to the ring and tries to help, but it quickly turns into a 4-on-1 attack! Suddenly, a cheer comes out from the crowd, and RICKY MORTON returns to SMW TV, as he hits the ring, chair in hand, and starts swinging wildly. The heels decide to get out of dodge after Gibson whacks Buck and Del Ray with the chair, and just misses taking Cornette’s head off with it. As the heels gloat about their actions in the aisleway as they head for the locker room, Ricky Morton tends to Gibson, Slaughter and Duggan. THATCHER and LANE wrap up the show, then hype next week’s program. Harvey Whippleman has stated that he will introduce the rest of his new stable next week, Bob Orton Jr will make his SMW debut and Brad Armstrong and Steve Doll go one on one.
