- LES THATCHER and THE HONKY TONK MAN are ringside to open the show, and they welcome us to the first IMPACT! Wrestling of 1996! They hype this week’s show, which will include . . . World Tag Team Champions The Rock n’ Roll Express in action . . . The Heavenly Bodies will see action as well . . . Plus, a handful of main event calibre matches, as America’s Team squares off with the Mounties . . . Tracy Smothers goes one on one with Buddy Landel’s “Advisor” Al Snow . . . We’ll have another Smoky Mountain Rumble qualifying match, between Buddy Landel and Tito Santana!

- MATCH #1
WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:
THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) (Champs) defeat THE PUNISHER & PAUL ROMA at 3:43 when Morton pins Roma following a double dropkick.




- KEVIN KELLY is standing in front of a Smoky Mountain Wrestling banner. Joining him is SMW Commissioner BOB ARMSTRONG.

BOB hypes Final Resolution, coming up live on FOX Sports South on January 19. He talks about the matches that have been signed, including Bunkhouse Buck defending the SMW TV Title against Chris Michaels, the Rock n’ Roll Express defending their World Tag Team Titles against arch-rivals the Heavenly Bodies, and of course, the big 6 man Smoky Mountain Rumble, to crown the very first SMW World Heavyweight Champion! So far, Cactus Jack, Tracy Smothers and Bunkhouse Buck have qualified for the match, and later tonight, either Buddy Landel or Tito Santana will be added to that list.



After Armstrong walks off, Kelly is joined by AL SNOW.

SNOW talks about facing Brad Armstrong later on, saying that he’ll beat Brad. He talks about the Armstrongs family, saying that there’s so many of them, popping out these idiot kids would be a full-time job for Bob’s old lady. He says that he saw Bob’s old lady backstage at a Smoky Mountain show once, and says that saying she looked like a mule would be an insult to mules. He says that she looked like she’d fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. He says that one look at Bob’s old lady and he now knows why Bob’s always at the arenas, he wouldn’t want to go home to that either!

KEVIN KELLY’s heard enough, and sends us back to Les and Honky at ringside, while Snow continues to insult the Armstrong family.




At ringside, LES says that he hopes for Al Snow’s sake that Brad Armstrong didn’t hear those comments, because if he did, Al may be in a lot of trouble when they square off later in the show.


- MATCH #2:
THE MOUNTIES (Jacques & Pierre) defeat AMERICA’S TEAM (Sgt. Slaughter & Hacksaw Jim Duggan) at 6:10. This match came about after the Mounties had made some derogatory comments about the Smoky Mountain region, and America in general, then came out and taunted Duggan and Slaughter during a match last week. Duggan and the Sarge went to the SMW promoters and asked them to sign this match.

The match is action-packed, as the two teams tear right into each other. Slaughter and Duggan enjoy an early advantage, until some double-teaming by the Mounties turns the tables. Jacques and Pierre then isolate Duggan in their corner, and work him over. Duggan eventually battles back, getting a burst of energy, and dropping both Mounties with big running clotheslines. Duggan tags Slaughter in, and the Sarge cleans house. As Pierre comes back in, Slaughter pummels him, but doesn’t notice Jacques grab the cattleprod that he carries to the ring. When the ref is out of position to see it, Jacques zaps Slaughter with the cattleprod. Pierre immediately takes advantage of this, slamming the Sarge to the mat, and hitting the top-rope Maple Leaf Drop legdrop. Jacques jumps into the ring to brawl with Duggan as Pierre gets the 1…2…3.

Afterwards, Jacques knocks Duggan out of the ring, and the Mounties double-team Slaughter, but Duggan grabs his 2x4 from ringside, jumps back into the ring, and chases the Mounties off.




- KEVIN KELLY is standing in front of a Smoky Mountain Wrestling banner. Joining him is JIM CORNETTE and THE HEAVENLY BODIES: TOM PRITCHARD & JIMMY DEL RAY.

CORNETTE talks about the match coming up between the Heavenly Bodies and the Rock n’ Roll Express at Final Resolution, for the World Tag Team Titles. Cornette says that he has a long history of managing great tag teams, but this team right here, the Heavenly Bodies, are the greatest of them all! He says that Morton and Gibson’s reign comes to an end in 9 days at Final Resolution, and Pritchard and Del Ray will bring the belts back where they belong.

DEL RAY says Morton and Gibson walk around like they own the place, they think they’re untouchable, but he says that they’ve never been in the ring with a team like the Heavenly Bodies, who are superior to Morton and Gibson in every way. They’re better wrestlers, they’re better looking, they’re just all-around better men, just ask Morton and Gibson’s girlfriends, he’s seen the way they look at him and Pritchard when they’re at the shows! He says that he can’t blame them, there’s a reason why they call him and Pritchard the Heavenly Bodies!

PRITCHARD doesn’t say anything, he just keeps posing for the camera the whole time.




- MATCH #3:
THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Jimmy Del Ray & Tom Pritchard) (w/ Jim Cornette) defeat PAT ROSE & THE ROCKIN’ REBEL at 2:31 when Pritchard pinned Rose after standing on the second turnbuckle, with Del Ray lifting Rose up to him, and Pritchard then delivering a powerslam off the turnbuckle.


- LES and HONKY send us to the set of the BACHELOR PAD.


- STAN LANE welcomes us to another edition of the top-rated segment on any wrestling show, anywhere in the World, the BACHELOR PAD.

STAN welcomes his guests, BUDDY LANDEL, Landel’s Advisor AL SNOW and Landel’s assistant TAMMY LYN BYTCH.

LANDEL talks about facing Tito Santana later in the show, in a Smoky Mountain Rumble qualifying match. Buddy says that his match with Tito will be nothing more than a warm-up for the Rumble at Final Resolution, and says that in two weeks time, he will be back on this program, as the very first SMW World Heavyweight Champion!

SNOW talks some more about his match with Brad Armstrong later tonight, saying that Armstrong is going to be so thoroughly embarrassed after Snow beats him, he doubts he’ll ever show his face in SMW again.

AL then talks about hiring Tammy Lyn Bytch, and says that it’s a good thing they did, because over the past few weeks, they’ve been bombarded by people, all wanting a piece of the one true Nature Boy! There’s been promoters from all over the World wanting Buddy to be on their shows, they’ve had the biggest Hollywood producers calling, begging Buddy to be in their movies. It’s out of control.

BUDDY says that he doesn’t blame them, he’s the biggest thing to ever hit professional wrestling, and his appeal is undeniable. Everyone wants a piece of him, women want him, men want to be him.

TAMMY agrees, saying that Landel is already the biggest star in the wrestling World, and on January 19, he will become the greatest World Champion in wrestling history!




- MATCH #4:
TRACY SMOTHERS beats RICK MICHAELS at 3:34 after the Alabama Jawjacker.




- KEVIN KELLY is standing in front of a Smoky Mountain Wrestling banner. Joining him is AMERICA’S TEAM: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN & SGT. SLAUGHTER.

KELLY mentions the match earlier in the night against the Mounties, and the fact that it ended under controversial circumstances.

DUGGAN says that he’s damn right it did, it ended with Jacques zapping him with a cattleprod, because Jacques knew that he and Pierre couldn’t beat them fair and square. Duggan then talks about facing Pierre next week in a Smoky Mountain Rumble qualifying match, and says that he’s going to make Pierre pay for what Jacques did this week.

SLAUGHTER demands a rematch against those Mountie pukes, and wants the SMW promoters to sign it as soon as possible.




- MATCH #5
SMOKY MOUNTAIN RUMBLE QUALIFYING MATCH:
BUDDY LANDEL (w/ Tammy Lyn Bytch) beats TITO SANTANA at 4:10 after attacking Tito’s knee, then applying the Figure-Four Leglock for the submission victory.

Buddy Landel is the fourth man to qualify for the Smoky Mountain Rumble on January 19 at Final Resolution!




- LES THATCHER talks about the career of TRACY SMOTHERS, saying that Smothers has always put on a great show for the fans, no matter where he’s wrestled, and says that the one thing that Tracy has wanted more than anything else since getting into wrestling, is to be the World Heavyweight Champion, and he’ll get his shot on January 19 at Final Resolution.

- MATCH #6:
BRAD ARMSTRONG beats AL SNOW (w/ Tammy Lyn Bytch) at 7:50. The action is fast and furious early on, with neither man able to get a clear advantage. Late in the match, Snow takes control after stopping Brad in his tracks with a vicious thumb to the eye, then works him over. Snow goes for the Snow Plow, but as he sets Brad up for it, Armstrong reverses it, and rolls Snow up in a small package for the 1…2…3!!




Snow jumps up and goes after Armstrong, who wisely rolls out of the ring and heads for the locker room. Snow throws a tantrum in the ring, saying that Armstrong cheated. Al gets in the referee’s face, screaming at him that Armstrong had ahold of his trunks during the pin, but the referee isn’t buying it.


- THATCHER and HONKY TONK wrap up the show while Al Snow continues to throw a fit in the ring. Les hypes next week’s show, which will feature the final two qualifying matches for the Smoky Mountain Rumble, as Hacksaw Duggan takes on Pierre of the Mounties, and Brad Armstrong takes on the Punisher. As well, Ricky Morton will challenge Bunkhouse Buck for the TV Title.

- LES THATCHER and KEVIN KELLY are ringside to open the show, and they welcome us to the East High School Gym in Morristown, TN for another edition of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Wrestling the way it used to be. Wrestling the way YOU like it!

This week, the final two participants for the Smoky Mountain Rumble will be determined, as Brad Armstrong faces the mysterious Punisher, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan meets Jacques of the Mounties. As well, Bunkhouse Buck will defend the SMW TV Championship against one-half of the World Tag Team Champions, Ricky Morton!


- THATCHER talks with World Tag Team Champions THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS: RICKY MORTON & ROBERT GIBSON at ringside. They’re joined by Ricky’s father, PAUL MORTON. Paul says that he’s in town to watch his son challenge for the SMW TV Title. Ricky tells Buck he’s coming for his title.




- MATCH #1
SMOKY MOUNTAIN RUMBLE QUALIFYING MATCH:
BRAD ARMSTRONG beat THE PUNISHER at 4:50 when Armstrong hit Punisher with a Swinging Russian Legsweep for the pinfall.

Brad Armstrong is the fifth participant to qualify for the Smoky Mountain Rumble tonight at Final Resolution.




- CLIP: Brad Armstrong pinning Al Snow on last week’s show. Snow throws a fit afterwards, claiming Armstrong had ahold of his trunks, but the ref wasn’t buying it.


- THATCHER talks with AL SNOW at ringside. He calls Armstrong a yellow-bellied coward, saying he had to cheat to beat him. Snow DEMANDS another match with Armstrong, to avenge this injustice that took place last week.




- PROMO: TRACY SMOTHERS, standing in front of an SMW banner. Smothers talks about the Smoky Mountain Rumble later tonight at Final Resolution, and says that, ever since he was a child, watching wrestling on TV, it’s been his goal to be World Champion. Saturday night, he finally has the opportunity to do just that, and he hopes that all his fans will come out to the Civic Coliseum, or watch live on Fox Sports South, to watch him realize his dream and become World Champion.




- MATCH #2
SMOKY MOUNTAIN RUMBLE QUALIFYING MATCH:
HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN (w/ Sgt. Slaughter) beats MOUNTIE JACQUES (w/ Pierre) at 6:11 when Pierre tries to interfere by hitting Duggan as Jacques holds him, but Duggan moves, and Pierre ends up knocking Jacques senseless. Duggan hits a Spear and gains the pinfall.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan becomes the final participant in the Smoky Mountain Rumble at Final Resolution.




THATCHER and KELLY send us to STAN LANE and another edition of THE BACHELOR PAD.


- STAN LANE is on the set of the BACHELOR PAD, and he introduces his guests, all six participants in the upcoming Smoky Mountain Rumble. BRAD ARMSTRONG, TRACY SMOTHERS, BUDDY LANDEL, BUNKHOUSE BUCK, HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN and CACTUS JACK all make their way out.

LANE tries to talk to Tracy Smothers, but Buddy Landel interrupts, then before you know it, all six men start arguing. From there, it doesn’t take long for someone to throw a punch, and all hell breaks loose!

The six men brawl all over the place, as Stan Lane wisely gets out of dodge, and the six wrestlers end up completely destroying the set of the Bachelor Pad while brawling. Security tries to separate them as we go to a commercial break.


- MATCH #3
SMW TV CHAMPIONSHIP:
BUNKHOUSE BUCK (Champ) (w/ Jim Cornette) defeats RICKY MORTON via COUNT-OUT at about the 20-second mark.

The match barely gets started when Robert Gibson, Chris Michaels and Tracy Smothers come out to the ring and tell Ricky that something has happened to his father. Ricky jumps out of the ring and runs to the back.


Backstage, we find out that Paul Morton has collapsed backstage, and they’re waiting on an ambulance. It arrives a moment later, and Ricky jumps into the ambulance to go to the hospital with his father.


- THATCHER talks with AMERICA’S TEAM: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN & SGT. SLAUGHTER at ringside. Duggan talks about participating in the Smoky Mountain Rumble, and thinks he’ll go all the way and leave Knoxville as the World Champion. Slaughter talks about those Mountie pukes, saying that they’ve still got unfinished business with them, and challenges either one of the Mounties to face him, one on one, tonight at Final Resolution.




- MATCH #4:
THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Jimmy Del Ray & Tom Pritchard) (w/ Jim Cornette) defeat MIKE QUACKENBUSH & ADAM PEARCE at 3:49 when Del Ray pinned Pearce following a Moonsault.




- THATCHER talks with JIM CORNETTE and THE HEAVENLY BODIES at ringside after the match. Cornette gloats about Bunkhouse Buck successfully defending his TV Title against Ricky Morton. Les says that he wouldn’t really call it a successful defence, due to the issues with Ricky’s father backstage. Cornette implies that he was behind the injury to Ricky's dad.

ROBERT GIBSON RUSHES OUT TO RINGSIDE AND ATTACKS CORNETTE!!!

Gibson pounds away on Cornette, but the Bodies are quick to pull him off, then they put a beating on Gibson. Several babyfaces charge down to ringside and separate them before helping Robert to the back.


- BUDDY LANDEL comes out to the ring, and says that, as a special treat for these fans, he’s going to give them what they’ve been dying to see all week . . . him beating up some poor schmuck in the ring!

BUDDY says that, because he really is a good guy, he’s going to give a total unknown, some complete nobody, the chance to get in the ring with him, mere hours before he goes on to become World Champion at Final Resolution. Buddy then calls out CHRIS MICHAELS, saying he’s the biggest nobody he could think of.

MICHAELS comes out, and accepts Landel’s challenge, and the bell rings.


- MATCH #5:
“NATURE BOY” BUDDY LANDEL (w/ Tammy Lyn) defeats CHRIS MICHAELS via submission at 9:53.

Landel seems to underestimate the youngster early on, but ends up getting increasingly frustrated with his inability to put Michaels away. It seems like everything Landel tries, Michaels has a counter for it, and even gets several nearfalls on the Nature Boy! Late in the match, AL SNOW comes out to ringside, and climbs up on the apron, distracting Michaels from the match. Landel takes advantage of the distraction, and takes out the knee of Michaels.

From there, Landel goes to work on softening up Michaels’ knee, before slapping on the Figure-Four Leglock. Michaels gives up, just mere seconds before the 10-minute time limit was to expire. Landel and Snow celebrate in the ring after the match. When Michaels gets to his feet, he jumps on Snow and Landel and starts pummeling both of them. Snow and Landel, along with Tammy Lyn, hightail it back to the locker room.




- THATCHER talks with ROBERT GIBSON at ringside. Gibson talks about what happened to Paul Morton, and says that during the last match, Ricky called him from the hospital, saying that his father was going to be OK. Gibson talks about facing the Heavenly Bodies later tonight at Final Resolution, and says that he and Ricky are going to beat those two bums, and then they’re going to get their hands on Cornette and tear him apart!




- THATCHER and KELLY wrap up the show, and remind everyone to tune in tonight at 8pm, right here on FOX Sports South, for Final Resolution, where the very first SMW World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned!

CIVIC COLISEUM in KNOXVILLE, TN





- LES THATCHER and STAN LANE open the broadcast from ringside, and welcome us to the Knoxville Civic Coliseum for FINAL RESOLUTION.

They run down the matches that will take place over the next two hours on this special televised event . . . the masked Dixie Dynamite makes his return to SMW, against a newcomer by the name of “Stunning” Steve Doll . . . Bunkhouse Buck will defend his SMW TV Championship against the youngster from Kentucky, Chris Michaels . . . Sgt. Slaughter will go one on one with Jacques of the Mounties . . . The Rock n’ Roll Express defend the SMW World Tag Team Titles against Jim Cornette’s Heavenly Bodies . . . And, the big main event, the 6 man Smoky Mountain Rumble to determine the very first SMW World Heavyweight Champion!

The six men that will take part in the Rumble will be Buddy Landel, Tracy Smothers, Bunkhouse Buck, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Cactus Jack and Brad Armstrong. Two men will start, then every five minutes, another will enter the match, until all six men are in the match. Then the Smoky Mountain Rumble will begin. It will be similar to a Battle Royal, with all six men in the ring together, but instead of throwing a wrestler out of the ring to eliminate them, wrestlers will be eliminated if they get pinned or are made to submit. The last man standing will be awarded the SMW World Championship.


- We go to KEVIN KELLY, who is standing by backstage with SMW Commissioner BOB ARMSTRONG.

ARMSTRONG proceeds to draw the order of entry for the Smoky Mountain Rumble:

BUDDY LANDEL and BRAD ARMSTRONG are drawn as the first two, so they will start the match. From there, Hacksaw Jim Duggan will enter next, followed by Bunkhouse Buck. Then Tracy Smothers will enter, and Cactus Jack will be the final participant to enter the match.

BOB and KEVIN wish the competitors luck, then send us back to ringside.


- MATCH #1:
DIXIE DYNAMITE beat “STUNNING” STEVE DOLL via pinfall after hitting Doll with the Confederate Kick.




- KEVIN KELLY interviews CACTUS JACK. Jack thinks the Smoky Mountain Rumble suits his style, and tells Kelly he will become World Champion tonight.




- We see highlights of Bunkhouse Buck’s run as SMW Television Champion, including his title defence earlier in the day on TV against Ricky Morton.


- MATCH #2
SMOKY MOUNTAIN TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP:
BUNKHOUSE BUCK (Champ) (w/ Jim Cornette) beat CHRIS MICHAELS via pinfall in a tough, hard-fought match. Michaels, who has shown vast improvement since arriving in SMW, gives Buck all he can handle. In the end, though, Jim Cornette is the difference, distracting Michaels long enough for Buck to attack him from behind. Buck then drops Michaels on his head with a Piledriver for the win.




- KEVIN KELLY interviews BUDDY LANDEL. Landel brags that he is the best wrestler walking the face of the earth, and he’ll prove it by beating five losers later tonight to become World Champion.




- THATCHER and LANE talk about the Mounties, who quickly got under the skin of SMW wrestlers and fans alike almost immediately upon their arrival.

- We see footage of the Mounties burying opponents under the Canadian flag. This gets the attention of America’s Team, and we see a confrontation between them.


- MATCH #3:
MOUNTIE JACQUES (w/ Pierre) beat SGT. SLAUGHTER via submission. Slaughter dominates the early going, but Jacques eventually turns the tables after jabbing a thumb in Slaughter’s eye. Jacques’ advantage was short-lived, as Slaughter reverses an Irish whip attempt, sending Jacques into the ropes instead, then hits the Slaughter Cannon. Slaughter pulls Jacques up off the mat, and goes for the Cobra Clutch, but just as Slaughter is cinching in the hold, Jacques drops to a sitting position, driving the top of his head into Slaughter’s jaw.

Slaughter rolls out of the ring to recover, but as he does that, Jacques argues with the ref, and Pierre takes the Canadian flag and charges at Slaughter, bashing him over the head with the flagpole!

Pierre rolls a barely-conscious Slaughter back into the ring, where Jacques quickly slaps on the Carotid Control Technique. The referee raises Slaughter’s arm, and drops it. The ref drops his arm a second time, and a third time, awarding the match to Jacques.

After the match, the Mounties put the boots to Slaughter, and eventually hit the Tower of Quebec.

HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN hits the ring and chases the Mounties off with his 2x4, but as Duggan turns his back and goes to help Slaughter, Jacques and Pierre climb back into the ring, and clobber Duggan with the flagpole.

Jacques and Pierre then drape the Canadian flag over Duggan and Slaughter.




- KEVIN KELLY interviews BRAD ARMSTRONG and TRACY SMOTHERS. They talk about the upcoming Smoky Mountain Rumble, and both say that they want to win it. The two shake hands and wish each other luck.




- We see footage of the feud between the Heavenly Bodies and World Tag Team Champions the Rock n’ Roll Express. The video ends with footage of Jim Cornette talking about the attack on Paul Morton, suggesting he was behind it, and then Robert Gibson coming out and brawling with Cornette.


- MATCH #4
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP:
THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) (Champs) VS. THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Tom Pritchard & Jimmy Del Ray) (w/ Jim Cornette)

Morton attacks both Bodies and Cornette before the bell even rings, and throws wild haymakers at all three men. As the match starts, Morton continues his onslaught for the first minute or so. Eventually, the Bodies are able to cut off the ring, isolating Morton in their corner, and double-team him every chance they get. Cornette constantly distracts the ref so that his team can gang up on Morton.

Robert Gibson tries to come in and help Morton, but this just distracts the ref again, and gives the Bodies the opportunity to do some more damage to Ricky Morton.

They drag Morton into the corner, and Pritchard, standing on the arena floor, pulls Morton’s arm under the ropes, and then repeatedly wraps Morton’s arm and shoulder around the ringpost, doing some serious damage.

From there, Del Ray, the legal man, pulls Morton up, then climbs through the ropes, and drapes Morton’s arm over the top rope. Del Ray then jumps down to the floor, snapping Morton’s shoulder across the steel cable. Morton falls back to the mat, clutching his arm. Robert Gibson comes in and hits both Heavenly Bodies with dropkicks, sending them to the floor, before the ref forces Gibson back to his corner. This gives Morton a chance to pull himself to the corner, and tag out.

Morton spends the rest of the match laying on the ring apron, clutching his shoulder, and it’s obvious that something is very wrong.

Gibson keeps fighting the Heavenly Bodies by himself, but eventually they wear him down. Pritchard drops Gibson with a DDT, then tags in Del Ray, who goes to the top rope and delivers a Moonsault. Del Ray quickly rolls Gibson up, with a handful of trunks, and gets the pinfall.

WE’VE GOT NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!!



Cornette celebrates in the ring with his team, as Robert Gibson helps his friend Ricky Morton out of the ring and to the locker room.


- MATCH #5
6-MAN SMOKY MOUNTAIN RUMBLE FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:

Ring Announcer MIKE MCGUIRK introduces the first two competitors for the match:


BUDDY LANDEL

and


BRAD ARMSTRONG

Landel and Armstrong tear into each other as soon as the bell rings. Neither man can get a clear advantage for the first few minutes, but Landel eventually takes over, just as the count-down reaches zero, and the next competitor enters the match . . .


HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN

Duggan clobbers Landel as soon as he enters the ring, and Duggan and Armstrong then double-team Landel, pummeling the Nature Boy from pillar to post.

Landel is able to roll out of the ring to avoid any further punishment, so Duggan and Armstrong start brawling with each other!

The count-down reaches zero again, and the fourth participants enters the match . . .


TV CHAMPION BUNKHOUSE BUCK

Buck pulls a black leather glove out of one of his pockets, and pulls it on, then starts pounding away on both Armstrong and Duggan, knocking them both to the mat. Landel sees his opportunity to get some payback for the earlier beating, and climbs back into the ring, helping Buck work over Duggan and Armstrong.

A moment later, the fifth participant enters the match:


TRACY SMOTHERS

Smothers comes in like a house of fire, and throws forearm smashes at everybody. Landel once again bails out of the ring, leaving Buck to get pummeled by Duggan, Smothers and Armstrong.

AL SNOW makes his way out to ringside and discusses strategy on the floor with Buddy Landel, while everyone else continues to brawl in the ring.

The count-down reaches zero, and the final participant hits the ring:


CACTUS JACK

Cactus hits the ring and starts fighting with everyone. He rakes the eyes of Hacksaw Duggan, then drops Brad Armstrong with a headbutt, and kicks Tracy Smothers in the gut. From there, Jack goes after Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Cactus pounds Duggan into the mat, and even starts BITING him! A moment later, Cactus hits the Double-Arm DDT, and pins Duggan, eliminating him from the match.

Jack’s celebration is short-lived, as Brad Armstrong grabs him, and hits the Swinging Russian Legsweep for a 3-count, eliminating Cactus from the match as well!

Just like that, we’re down to the final four of Tracy Smothers, Brad Armstrong, Buddy Landel and TV Champ Bunkhouse Buck. Stan Lane says that Buck could be the first man in history to hold both the TV title and the World Heavyweigh title at the same time.

Landel hits a low blow on Tracy Smothers, then Buddy and Buck gang up on Brad Armstrong. Armstrong fights back, but eventually he’s overwhelmed, and Buck drops him with the Piledriver and gets the 3-count.

We’re down to Buddy Landel, Bunkhouse Buck and Tracy Smothers.

Things look bleak for Smothers, as Buck and Landel gang up on him, but Smothers keeps fighting back, and eventually is able to catch a break after ducking a running clothesline from Buck, and Landel catches the clothesline instead.

Smothers capitalizes on the opportunity, rolling a shocked Bunkhouse Buck up for the 3-count, eliminating Buck from the match.

The next few minutes see Landel and Smothers brawl all over the place, and hit each other with everything but the kitchen sink.

Late in the match, Al Snow gets involved, hitting Smothers and turning Tracy’s attention away from Landel long enough for Buddy to attack from behind.

Buddy knocks Smothers from the ring. Snow goes to attack Smothers on the floor, but Tracy turns the tables and knocks Snow down with a series of stiff right hands.

At that point, Chris Michaels, who was trained by Smothers, and who lost a close match to Landel on TV earlier in the day after Al Snow interfered, came out to ringside to cheer on his mentor.

Tracy climbs back up onto the ring apron and as Landel goes to grab ahold of him, Smothers slingshots over the top rope and back into the ring with a Sunset Flip. Landel is trying to keep from going over into a pinning predicament. Al Snow jumps up onto the apron, and grabs Landel’s arms, keeping him upright.

Michaels acts quickly and knocks Al Snow off the ring apron. Landel staggers, and Smothers is able to get him over with the Sunset Flip.

Referee Dave Hebner is right there, and starts the count . . .

- LES THATCHER and STAN LANE are ringside to open the show, and they welcome us to the Memorial Auditorium in Greenville, SC for another edition of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Wrestling the way it used to be. Wrestling the way YOU like it!

This week, we’ll see plenty of highlights from last Saturday night’s Final Resolution, as well as Brad Armstrong taking on a newcomer to the area, “Stunning” Steve Doll, in the main event.

THATCHER and LANE talk about Final Resolution, where the very first SMW World Heavyweight Champion was crowned. Both the SMW World Tag Team and Television Titles were on the line as well.


- JIP: TV Champ Bunkhouse Buck vs. Chris Michaels, from Final Resolution:
Michaels, who has shown vast improvement since arriving in SMW, gives Buck all he can handle. In the end, though, Jim Cornette is the difference, distracting Michaels long enough for Buck to attack him from behind. Buck then drops Michaels on his head with a Piledriver for the win.


- THATCHER and LANE talk about Chris Michaels, and how much the young man has improved since he first arrived in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Even though he came up short against Buck in that match, Les thinks that there is Championship gold in Michaels’ future.

LES and STAN then talk about a war that has ignited in SMW, between America’s Team of Hacksaw Duggan and Sgt. Slaughter, and the Mounties from Canada. As we’ve seen, the Mounties are not afraid of breaking the rules to win their matches, and as if that’s not enough to get under the skin of these great Smoky Mountain fans, the Mounties have taken to burying their opponents under the Canadian flag. To men like Duggan and Slaughter, who are as patriotic as they come, that’s the ultimate insult, and they have vowed to put a stop to it.

Last Saturday night, while Duggan was preparing for the Smoky Mountain Rumble, Sgt. Slaughter took on Jacques of the Mounties.


- JIP: Sgt. Slaughter vs. Jacques, from Final Resolution:
Slaughter pulls Jacques up off the mat, and goes for the Cobra Clutch, but just as Slaughter is cinching in the hold, Jacques drops to a sitting position, driving the top of his head into Slaughter’s jaw.

Slaughter rolls out of the ring to recover, but as he does that, Jacques argues with the ref, and Pierre takes the Canadian flag and charges at Slaughter, bashing him over the head with the flagpole!

Pierre rolls a barely-conscious Slaughter back into the ring, where Jacques quickly slaps on the Carotid Control Technique. The referee raises Slaughter’s arm, and drops it. The ref drops his arm a second time, and a third time, awarding the match to Jacques.

After the match, the Mounties put the boots to Slaughter, and eventually hit the Tower of Quebec.

HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN hits the ring and chases the Mounties off with his 2x4, but as Duggan turns his back and goes to help Slaughter, Jacques and Pierre climb back into the ring, and clobber Duggan with the flagpole.

Jacques and Pierre then drape the Canadian flag over Duggan and Slaughter.


- THATCHER talks with AMERICA’S TEAM: HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN & SGT. SLAUGHTER at ringside.

SLAUGHTER talks about the match at Final Resolution and says that those maggots covering him and Duggan with the Canadian flag is the final straw. Slaughter says that he and Duggan are going to teach these Mountie pukes about respect.

DUGGAN challenges Jacques and Pierre to face him and Slaughter in a tag team match right here next week on TV, with a special stipulation . . . the losing team must salute the winning team’s flag, in the middle of the ring!




- JIP: 6-man Smoky Mountain Rumble, from Final Resolution:

THATCHER and LANE congratulate Tracy Smothers on his victory, and send us to pre-taped comments from Smothers, in the dressing room following his title win.


- TRACY SMOTHERS is in the dressing room, his face a crimson mask. Tracy talks about winning the belt, and how much it means to him. He thanks the fans for their support and says that his victory was for each and every one of them. He promises to be a fighting Champion, saying that he’ll defend the belt against anyone who wants a shot.




- THATCHER and LANE talk about a match that took place two weeks ago here on TV, between Al Snow and Brad Armstrong.


- JIP: Brad Armstrong vs. Al Snow, from SMW TV on Jan. 10, 1996:
Late in the match, Snow takes control after stopping Brad in his tracks with a vicious thumb to the eye, then works him over. Snow goes for the Snow Plow, but as he sets Brad up for it, Armstrong reverses it, and rolls Snow up in a small package for the 1…2…3!!

Snow jumps up and goes after Armstrong, who wisely rolls out of the ring and heads for the locker room. Snow throws a tantrum in the ring, saying that Armstrong cheated. Al gets in the referee’s face, screaming at him that Armstrong had ahold of his trunks during the pin, but the referee isn’t buying it.


- THATCHER talks with AL SNOW in the ring. Al talks about the match two weeks ago with Armstrong, saying that he was robbed, everybody just saw the footage, they saw that Armstrong had ahold of his trunks. Snow goes on to say that Armstrong has refused to give him a rematch, because Brad knows he couldn’t beat him again. Al thinks that there is a conspiracy against him, and it goes all the way to the top, to that withered up old dinosaur Bob Armstrong. He thinks Armstrong, and Bob’s whole inbred family, are out to get him.

SNOW continues to rant and rave about conspiracy theories as Thatcher sends us to a commercial break.




- THATCHER and LANE talk about the feud between the Rock n’ Roll Express and Jim Cornette’s Heavenly Bodies.


- We see footage from last Saturday afternoon’s TV show, where Ricky Morton challenged Bunkhouse Buck for the TV title, but just as the match got started, several babyfaces came out and told Ricky that his father, Paul Morton, had collapsed backstage. We jump ahead in the footage, to Jim Cornette practically admitting that he was behind the incident with Paul Morton, and is then attacked by Robert Gibson.

- JIP: The Rock n’ Roll Express vs. The Heavenly Bodies, from Final Resolution:
Robert Gibson tries to come in and help Morton, but this just distracts the ref again, and gives the Bodies the opportunity to do some more damage to Ricky Morton.

They drag Morton into the corner, and Pritchard, standing on the arena floor, pulls Morton’s arm under the ropes, and then repeatedly wraps Morton’s arm and shoulder around the ringpost, doing some serious damage.

From there, Del Ray, the legal man, pulls Morton up, then climbs through the ropes, and drapes Morton’s arm over the top rope. Del Ray then jumps down to the floor, snapping Morton’s shoulder across the steel cable. Morton falls back to the mat, clutching his arm. Robert Gibson comes in and hits both Heavenly Bodies with dropkicks, sending them to the floor, before the ref forces Gibson back to his corner. This gives Morton a chance to pull himself to the corner, and tag out.

Morton spends the rest of the match laying on the ring apron, clutching his shoulder, and it’s obvious that something is very wrong.

Gibson keeps fighting the Heavenly Bodies by himself, but eventually they wear him down. Pritchard drops Gibson with a DDT, then tags in Del Ray, who goes to the top rope and delivers a Moonsault. Del Ray quickly rolls Gibson up, with a handful of trunks, and gets the pinfall.

WE’VE GOT NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!!


THATCHER says that Ricky Morton suffered a pretty severe injury to his shoulder in that match, and from what he’s been told, Ricky’s doctors are saying he could be out of action for several months.

LANE says that it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that he doesn’t like Morton and Gibson, but he hates to see anyone get injured like that, as it leaves Morton with no way to provide for his family.


- THATCHER talks with CHRIS MICHAELS and STEVE ARMSTRONG in the ring. Michaels says that the two of them will be forming a tag team, known as the Southern Boys, and they are setting their sights on the Heavenly Bodies and the World Tag Team Championship.




- THATCHER talks with “STUNNING” STEVE DOLL in the ring. Doll talks about the match with Dixie Dynamite at Final Resolution, and says that Dixie’s win was a fluke, and he doubts that Dixie could pull off that big of an upset again. Doll says that he’s going straight to the top of SMW, and the first stepping stone on his way to the top will be Brad Armstrong.




- TV MAIN EVENT:
BRAD ARMSTRONG beat “STUNNING” STEVE DOLL via pinfall at 5:45 after hitting the Swinging Russian Legsweep after Doll had blocked a previous attempt.

After the match, Doll attacks Armstrong, and tosses him out of the ring. On the outside, Doll repeatedly slams Armstrong’s head into the ring post, then clobbers him with a chair. Doll throws Brad back into the ring, and hits two Corkscrew elbowdrops before Tracy Smothers and Dixie Dynamite arrive on the scene and chase Doll out of the ring.




- THATCHER talks with ROBERT GIBSON in the ring. Robert talks about the injury to Ricky Morton at the hands of the Heavenly Bodies, and says that he’s been contacted by several wrestlers, from all over the country, who saw what happened to Ricky and offered to come to SMW to help him get some payback. Robert says that while he appreciates their offers, he wants to wait until Ricky can come back, and then they’ll get their payback on the Bodies, as a team.




- THATCHER and LANE wrap up the show, then hype next week’s program, which will feature Buddy Landel in action, the first match for the Southern Boys, Steve Armstrong and Chris Michaels, as a tag team, and in the main event, America’s Team will face the Mounties in a special Flag match!
