ROY WILKINS AUDITORIUM IN ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA
FUJI YAMADA beats JOHNNY SMITH by pinfall after connecting with a Shooting Star Press.
THE SAMOAN SWAT TEAM: SAMU & FATU beat THE YOUNG STALLIONS: PAUL ROMA & JIM POWERS. The Young Stallions put up a good fight, but Samu and Fatu are a couple of beasts, and they demolish their smaller opponents. In the end, Fatu drops Powers to the mat with a vicious headbutt, then tags Samu, who leaps off the top rope with a splash for the pinfall.
THE KILLER BEES: JIM BRUNZELL & BRIAN BLAIR defeat THE PLAYBOYS: TOM PRITCHARD & JIMMY DEL RAY (w/ Diamond Dallas Page). While they’ve been winning matches on TV, the Playboys haven’t had much success lately on the house show circuit, and that continues here, as they fall in defeat to the Killer Bees. The Bees get the win when Brunzell pins Pritchard after the Bees connect with a double dropkick. Page is not happy, and he berates his team after the loss.
OWEN HART beats WILD PEGASUS. The smaller wrestlers, like Owen and Pegasus, have really taken the AWA by storm, as they’ve put on some classic matches both on television and at the house shows. This match has the fans on the edge of their seats, as Owen and Pegasus wrestle at a lightning-quick pace from bell to bell. Owen picks up the win after Pegasus misses a crossbody from the top rope, and Owen then drills him into the mat with a Northern Lights Suplex into a bridge for the pinfall.
AWA World Tag Team champions BRET HART & JIM NEIDHART (w/ Jimmy Hart) beat PHIL LAFLEUR & MIKE ROTUNDA. This match was supposed to see the champions put the belts on the line against the Can-Am Express, but after the injury to Zenk a few days earlier on television, Lafleur took on Mike Rotunda as Zenk’s replacement. Lafleur forgets all about scientific wrestling, instead letting his emotions get the better of him, as he looks to avenge the injury to Zenk at the hands of Bret and Neidhart. The champions take advantage, baiting Lafleur, then trapping him in their corner, and working him over. Lafleur fights back, and tags in Rotunda. Rotunda goes hold for hold with Bret for several minutes, before Neidhart tags in and quickly overpowers Rotunda. Rotunda manages to make it to his corner and tags in Lafleur, who comes in like a house of fire, taking the fight right to Neidhart and Bret, knocking both around the ring.
However, as Lafleur brawls with Neidhart, Bret clips Lafleur’s knee from behind. Bret then locks Lafleur in the Figure-4 Leglock, and Neidhart goes to the top rope. They’re looking to injure Lafleur, just like they did to his tag team partner Tom Zenk. However, Mike Rotunda makes the save, as he grabs Neidhart, and throws him to the mat. Bret Hart turns his attention to Rotunda, allowing Lafleur to take advantage and roll over, reversing the Figure-4 and putting the pressure on Bret’s legs!
Bret reaches the ropes to break the hold, and gets to his feet as Lafleur moves in. As Lafleur grabs ahold of him, Bret jabs a thumb into Phil’s eye, then tosses him through the ropes and to the floor. Bret then jumps Rotunda from behind, and he and Neidhart double-team Rotunda. The champions then hit the Hart Attack, and Bret pins Rotunda for the win!
KAMALA (w/ Jimmy Hart & Kimchee) beats AWA Americas champion SGT. SLAUGHTER by COUNT-OUT. Slaughter is eager to get his hands on the Ugandan warrior, and tears into Kamala as soon as the bell rings. The momentum goes back and forth early, but they eventually make their way to the floor, where Kamala takes over. Jimmy Hart and Kimchee distract Slaughter long enough for Kamala to attack from behind, delivering several headbutts to the back of Sarge’s head! With Sarge stunned, Kamala scoops him up and slams him on the floor! Kamala then backs off, before charging at Slaughter and delivering a splash, right on the unforgiving cement floor!
Kamala then rolls back into the ring, but Slaughter is unable to get even get back to his feet before the 10-count, and Kamala is awarded the match by count-out!
STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS & GARY ALBRIGHT & TERRY GORDY battle STAN HANSEN & BIG VAN VADER & BAM BAM BIGELOW to a DOUBLE DQ . This is an all-out war, and non-stop action right from the opening bell. The referee has a hard time keeping the non-legal wrestlers out of the ring, and several times we end up with all six men brawling. In the end, two chairs make their way into the ring, and the two teams batter each other with the chairs, causing the referee to finally disqualify both teams.
After the match, Larry Nelson lets the fans know that the AWA will back in St. Paul, this time at the Civic Center, on Christmas night. On that card, we’ll see 10 of the top teams in wrestling compete in a one-night tournament for $20,000 and a shot at the tag team titles in the new year. As well, Stan Hansen will defend the Triple Crown against Americas champ Sgt. Slaughter, and we’ll see the finals, and the third-place match of the Young Lions Cup!

COBO ARENA IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN
FUJI YAMADA beats JOHNNY SMITH by pinfall after connecting with a Shooting Star Press.
JUMBO TSURUTA (w/ Mr. Matsuda) beats JACKIE FULTON by pinfall following a swinging neckbreaker.
THE KILLER BEES: JIM BRUNZELL & BRIAN BLAIR defeat BLACK BART & THE MASKED OUTLAW. The Killer Bees have been on a roll since coming to the AWA, and that continues here. The Bees get the win when Blair pins the masked Outlaw after both Bees hit the masked man with a double dropkick.
THE BRITISH BULLDOGS: DAVEY BOY SMITH & DYNAMITE KID defeat THE PLAYBOYS: TOM PRITCHARD & JIMMY DEL RAY (w/ Diamond Dallas Page). We haven’t seen much of the Bulldogs since they lost the tag titles to Bret and Neidhart, but they’re back here as the AWA makes their debut in Detroit. Both these teams will take part in the Christmas night tournament, and both look to gain some momentum heading into that tourney.
The Bulldogs eventually take control of the match, and get the win when Dynamite Kid delivers a diving headbutt off of Davey Boy’s shoulders, onto Pritchard, for the pinfall. Dallas Page is not happy with his team’s performance and let’s them know about it after the match.
STAN HANSEN & BIG VAN VADER defeat STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS & GARY ALBRIGHT. This one is a real slobberknocker! These four batter each other from pillar to post for more than 25 minutes, before Hansen gets the win for his team by dropping the rookie Albright with the Lariat and pinning him.
SGT. SLAUGHTER & TERRY TAYLOR defeat “MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF & KAMALA (w/ Jimmy Hart & Kimchee) by DQ. There’s nothing pretty about this one, as these two teams battle tooth and nail. The end comes when the referee tries to get Kamala to back away from Taylor as he’s slumped in the corner after a series of chops. The Ugandan headhunter responds by knocking the referee to the mat, drawing the disqualification!
The two teams continue to brawl after the match, eventually making their way down the aisle and out of sight.
After the match, Larry Nelson lets the fans know that the AWA will back in Detroit on December 13. On that card, a 20-man Battle Royal and a rematch between Slaughter & Taylor vs Orndorff & Kamala!
