8/3/96 - Hartford Civic Center Hartford, CTBuck Zumhoff and the Honky Tonk Man thank of for joining the original Rock 'N Roll broadcasting team for another exciting edition of ECW Weekend Warriors, tonight coming to you live from the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut! They then tell us they have an action-packed show lined up for us here tonight. "Mangler's Monster" The Blitzkrieg will be in action, Steve Corino and Jason Venom will face off against the Mexi-Kings in a rematch that's sure to get bloody and in the Main Event; the Eastern States Champion Junkyard Dog will face off against Devon Hughes in a non-Title bout!
Joel Gertner makes with the intros while Danny Davis officiates all matches.Match: The Blitzkrieg vs. Douglas Williams "The U.K. Kidd" Douglas Williams does his best, but it isn't good enough as "Mangler's Monster" beats him pillar to post before mercifully putting him down for the count with the Muscle Buster. The Baron raises The Blitzkrieg's hand in victory when...The Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer attack them! The Blitzkrieg no-sells Dreamer's attack as he comes to the Baron von Raschke's aide with a quick clothesline that lays Dustin Rhodes flat! The big man then lifts "The Innovator of Violence" up over his head and launches him out into the crowd where he slams into a bunch of chairs! Left alone in the ring with Blitzkrieg, "The American Nightmare" attempts to fight him off; but gets laid out with a Telegraph from Berlin chokeslam while Dreamer looks on stunned from ringside.
The Baron then gets on the mic an tells the "stupid Americans" that now that The Blitzkrieg has returns Dreamer and Rhodes American dream has come to an end and will be crushed into dust! Because one day soon his Ubermensch shall come to collect what is their's by right! The ECW Tag-Team Championships!After the break the new ECW Women's Champ "Gorgeous" Michele Starr with Joe E. Legend talks to Terri Runnels who looks disgusted to be in the same room as him as he gloats about how last week he proved to the world that he is the ultimate diva, the grandest dame in all of wrestling and he puts out an open challenge to any woman in the sport to come and pry this Title out of his well-manicured hands! Match: Lisa Moretti vs. Debbie Combs As the match gets underway Michele Starr comes down to ringside and has Legend get him a chair so he can sit with Zumhoff and Honky. Buck moves his chair to be further away from Starr who's out "scouting the competition." Michele offers commentary on Lisa Moretti and Debbie Combs' fashion sense more than anything as the two women give one another a tough back and forther contest with "Hot Stuff" getting two counts off a swinging neckbreaker and a sunset flip. Moretti tries to put Combs away several times before finally picking up the win after hitting Debbie with the Moretti Driver.
A video clip featuring snippets from matches that took place this past Wednesday on the main show. We see Chris Benoit hit Devon Hughes with three consecutive German suplexes, Junkyard Dog lay Prince Nana out with the Thump! front powerslam, Pogo the Clown Bury Matt Hardy in the Basement, Destruction Inc. stomp the hell out of Rick Rude, William Regal hit Brimstone with the Regal-Plex and "The Dark Prophet" flatten Regal with the Chokeslam from Hell; and Dean Malenko lock in the Texas Cloverleaf on Brian Christopher. Finally we see Tully Blanchard taking a beating courtesy of Papa Shango and Barry Windham; and Arn Anderson flattening "Blackjack" with a Spinebuster! The ECW Wednesday Nights logo then appears. ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels speaks with the Mexi-Kings about their ongoing feud with Steve Corino and Jason Venom. Homicide tells us that they're just a pair of typical, racist; gringos. That they think him and his ese Hernandez are a couple opportunist, animals. Well he's right. They are. That the only thing that stopped Homicide from sealing the deal on that punk ass Corino two weeks ago was the policia holmes! Tonight though? Tonight nothing's going to stop the Mexi-Kings from giving Corino and Venom exactly what's coming to them!Tag-Team Match: Steve Corino & Jason Venom vs. The Mexi-Kings Inside the ring "Mr. Wrestling" Steve Coino looks as cocky as ever while "Insane in the Brain" by Cypress Hill hits and out come Hernandez and Homicide! We learn from Zumhoff and HTM that this match is No Disqualification, because let's face it. It'd be thrown out pretty fast. Steve Corino looks to be starting things out with Homicide, but he slyly tags Jason Venom in at the last second and the big man dominates the smaller Homicide early on. He ends up flattening him with the Venom sheer-drop release powerBomb and points toward Hernandez whom he orders to stay in his corner while he makes the cover!
Hernandez of course doesn't listen and breaks the count with a stomp to Venom's back. He attempts to pummel Venom; but the big man fights his way to his feet and the duo slug it out with Davis hesitant to get in the middle of the two men. Steve Corino simply watches from the apron until the ref's back is turn when he enters and dragging Homicide to the corner he crotches him against the steel ringpost! Order gets restored inside the ring and Venom tags Corino in. "Mr. Wrestling" hurries in with the cover on Homicide! 1!... 2!...
Homicide kicks out! Corino forces him back down! 1!... 2!
Homicide gets his shoulder up and clubs Steve in the head with a couple of elbows! Dazed he stumbles to his corner, but Corino is right on top of him and nails him with an atomic drop. He then grabs Homicide and drags him back toward his corner, but he pops up and clocks Corino with a legdrop before making the tag to Hernandez! Hernandez comes in on fire, dropping Steve with a couple of shoulder tackles before strutting around the ring like he owns the place. He then hoists Steve Corino up to his feet and hits him with a move he calls the Crackerjack overhead choke suplex! He makes the cover on Steve, but he kicks out at two. Hernandez is very cocky and throws Steve about the ring before tagging Homicide back in and the Mexi-Kings stomp Corino out in the corner. Davis orders Shawn to the outside, but Homicide keeps up the assault, occasionally facewashing him with his boot until Steve slowly drags himself up to his feet where Homicide begins hammering his head in! Eventually however Corino blocks a hit and fires back one of his own! He drives Homicide back across the ring, before circling about his opponent, grabbing his head; and connects with a jumping cutter! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Homicide kicks out! Corino walks him over to his corner and tags in Jason Venom who perches on the top turnbuckle as Steve hands Homicide off to him and he nails their opponent with a powerbomb off the top! "Mr. Wrestling" then tags back in and stalking Homicide for a bit connects with the Sliding C lariat! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!..
Homicide kicks out! And this time he attacks Corino! He Thesz press the former ECW Champ and beats the hell out of him, busting Steve open as he connects with a double axe handle smash! Homicide then gets up, spits on Corino and lifting him up hits a front powerslam. He then tags in Hernandez before going up top himself and hits a double foot stomp on the downed Corino! Shawn Hernandez immediately goes up top too and hits a diving splash on the fallen former Champ! But the wily Steve Corino rolls through it and grabbing a handful of jeans gets the 1!... 2!... 3!
Corino is quick to roll out of the ring and he and Venom don't stick around to celebrate as they make their way up the ramp leaving a furious pair of Mexi-Kings in the ring. Buck and HTM doubt we've seen the last of these two teams.After the match we're taken back stage for Buck Zumhoff's "Rock 'N Rolling" segment where he invites us to party with one one of his own personal favorite bands, who also provide the entrance music for the Eastern States Champion the Junkyard Dog with Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust!"Queen - 'Another One Bites the Dust'Zumhoff and Honky welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's big Main Event. They talk about Junkyard Dog's recent journey here in Eastern Championship as he battled his way through a Tournament which he was a definite underdog in. And then faced the Eastern States Champion Sir William Regal whom he beat for the belt! Since then JYD has taken on all comers. Tonight he faces one-half of the Hughes Brothers tag-team in Devon Hughes. This has to be one of the biggest matches of his career to date. A win over JYD would set him up for a shot at his first Championship! Gertner: The following non-Title match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Brooklyn, New York weighing 280 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by Spike Hughes; he is Devon Hughes!
Testify! The Hughes Brothers come out and do a little dance together on the ramp before heading down to the ring. "Another One Bite the Dust" by Queen the plays and out from the back comes Junkyard Dog in his cowboy hat!
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent this evening weighing 280 lbs. from Wadesboro, North Carolina; he is the Eastern States Champion The Junkyard Dog!Main Event: Junkyard Dog vs. Devon Hughes w/ Spike Hughes Devon Hughes looks a little slower this evening, which Buck speculates is due to his match with Chris Benoit earlier in the week. Still, Devon brings his A game here against Junkyard Dog and the two men brawl about the ring, trading headbutts on one occasion. Deveno uses his 360 degree back elbow smash to knock JYD off balance before hitting him with a thrust spinebuster for a two count. He gets another two count using a DDT and yet another when he drops The Dog with a piledriver! Junkyard hangs in there however and gives as good as he gets, earning a two count of his own following a shoulderbreaker and another following a leg drop. Toward the end of the match both men go for a headbutt and end up cracking one another's skulls loudly at the same time! They both stumble about the ring and fall to one knee. Junkyard Dog however is up first and grabbing Devon goes for the Thump! scoop powerlam! But Devon slides out and pushes JYD into the ropes!
And he connects with a suplex on The Dog! Testify! Devon Hughes heads on up top and goes for the diving headbutt! And it connects! Right into the canvas! JYD has rolled out of the way! Devon Hughes pops back up and stumbles right into the arms of Junkyard Dog and a Thump! front powerslam! JYD hooks the legs! 1!... 2!...
3! Junkyard Dog has won it! He marches about the ring and barks for the crowd! He then gets the microphone from Gertner and tells the fans he's feeling good! That he may not know who is opponent is this Wednesday, but he's damn sure ready for him! He barks at the crowd as the...

8/7/96 - Carver Hawking Arena Iowa City, IA"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the Carver Hawking Arena in Iowa City, Iowa for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! They briefly recap last week's show including The Dark Circle's attack on "Ravishing" Rick Rude (which Lanny says he asked for), Brimstone defeating William Regal, The Ubermensch's attack on the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer; and "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko pinning the ECW Light Heavyweight Champion "Too Cool" Brian Christopher. They focus mainly on last week's Main Event however where the ECW Champ "Nature Boy" Ric Flair no-showed leading to a two on one beatdown of his Tag-Team partner Tully Blanchard by Papa Shango and Barry Windham until he was saved by "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Scott Taylor! ECW officials have yet to hear from Flair, but they're expecting some sort of announcement here tonight.
They then run down tonight's big show which will see a Tag-Team Title Match between the Champs Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes against the men they beat for the Titles back at Wrestle Annual II; the Ubermensch who've finally enacted their rematch clause. Also on tap, the ECW Light Heavyweight Champ Brian Christopher will be in non-Title action, Arn Anderson and Scott Taylor will team against Papa Shango and Barry Windham; and in a huge Main Event the Junkyard Dog will face off against a challenger yet to be revealed for his Eastern States Championship!Just then "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula hits and out from the back comes Eric Bischoff who looks pissed as he heads down to the ring where he's handed a microphone by Joel Gertner. Bischoff reminds us that whenever "Easy E" is in the ring it can only mean one thing. And that's business is at hand. Now tonight's business is the type he don't like to talk about, because it reveals the seedy underbelly of this sport he loves. And that's the egos of some of the talent. Particularly tonight, that of the ECW Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair!
Now as he's sure we're all by now aware, Flair didn't show up to last night's Main Event. Eric gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was sick. Maybe his personal jet was delayed. He was worried more than anything. Especially when Ric didn't answer his phone. Then Monday came. And he trusts we all saw it. But for those who didn't, this is what happened on Monday Night Nitro!Video recap of Flair on Nitro.When a fan jumps the rail at ringside and is in the ring!!! The fan grabs the World Heavyweight Champion by the head of the hair and CHOPS away! The fan starts strutting, THAT’S NO FAN AT ALL!!“GET THE CAMERA OFF HIM!” Instructs Tony. The camera is on him, Dusty, and Terry who scramble for a moment, and describe the fight, but never the fighter before finally going to break. “We’ll be back in a moment fans…”“WOOOOOOOOOOO! You all know who I am! I am the ECW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, I am the NATURE BOY, by God, the dirtiest player in the game, the kiss stealin, wheelin’ dealin…”The ECW Champion was on WCW programming while under contract with Eastern Championship! Wearing the ECW Title! Now obviously, this pissed Eric off some. Now the no-show last week? Eric was going to write it off as a hiccup in an otherwise lucrative relationship. He did finally get in touch with Flair this past weekend and they had a long phone conversation. Apologies were made. And he was going to let bygones be bygones. And then the crazy bastard goes and does this?! Well he's had enough! He's not sure if "The Nature Boy" is in the building tonight, but if he is; Eric wants him out here right now!There's a pretty long pause before "Also Sprach Zarathustra hits" and out from the back comes Ric Flair! He's wearing his suit and has the ECW TItle over his shoulder as he heads down to the ring. He struts about a bit while the fans boo before getting on the microphone. He asks Bischoff if him not showing up last week upset him? He asks him if him appearing on WCW aggravated him? "All Class" shakes his head yes and looks rather annoyed when Flair gets in his face and tells him well brother, he doesn't care what Eric thinks! See, he's the Eastern Heavyweight Champion and that allows him to do whatever he damn well pleases! He'll fight when he wants and he'll go where he wants! Cause he's Ric Flair baby! And Ric Flair don't kowtow to no one! Woooo!
Eric obviously annoyed wipes spittle from his face before telling Flair that- But "Nature Boy" lets him have it with a chop across the face and Bischoff folds like an accordian! He hits the ground and sitting up is holding his face while asking Flair what the hell is wrong with him! Ric however finds this amusing and lets out another Wooo! as he exits the ring and heads up the ramp! Eric Bischoff still inside the ring is furious.Back from the break Lanny and Gene talk about how Flair attacked ECW President Eric Bischoff just moments ago and then show us what happened during the break. We see Ric Flair who's looking rather pleased with himself storming down the hallway in the back when someone calls out to him. We soon see it's "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson! But Flair either ignores him or doesn't hear Arn as he heads down the hallway, out the backdoor; and hops into his limo which speeds off! Anderson who's been attempting to catch up gets there just in time to see the limo speed away ends up punching the wall in frustration.Joel Gertner then makes the intros for the first match of the night.Match: Chris Harris vs. Spike Hughes w/ Devon HughesReferee: S.D. Jones Young Chris Harris does well against the smaller half of the Hughes Brothers. "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase shows up during this match and looks on while Spike Hughes gets hit with a swinging side slam for a two count. Okerlund calls DiBiase a snake and doesn't like the fact he's here in ECW. Spike Hughes meanwhile rallies back and grabbing Harris by the head runs up the turnbuckles and connects with a corner springboard cutter for the win. After the match he and Devon Hughes celebrate.Tag-Team Match: Arn Anderson & Scott Taylor vs. Barry Windham & Papa ShangoReferee: Danny Davis We're informed that this match was signed last week after the Main Event in which "Blackjack" Barry Windham and "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango beatdown Arn's best buddy Tully Blanchard. Arn Anderson starts things out and he wants Windham in the ring. But he gets Papa Shango! "The Enforcer" is noticeably distracted early in the match and while he gives Shango a good fight, it gives the witch doctor just the opening he needs to take control of the match. He clips AA's leg with a chop block before running the ropes and connects with a dropkick to the back of Anderson's head! From there he works Arn over with a headlock for a bit before making the tag to Barry Windham!
He continues to hold Arn down while "Blackjack" nails him with several kicks before Davis forces Shango from the ring. Windham keeps control of the match, hitting Arn with a suplex and a lariat which get him two counts. "The Enforcer" looks to be in real trouble when Barry gets him up on the top turnbuckle and sets him up for a superplex! Arn however fights Windham off and hammers him down to the apron! And leaping off he connects with a knee drop before rolling to his corner and making the tag!
Scott Taylor comes in all fired up and he clubs Barry with a double dose of clotheslines as he runs the ropes; but only staggers "Blackjack" before coming back a third time and sends him down to the mat with a dropkick! He scrambles for the cover! 1!... 2!..
Barry powers out! He tosses Scott across the ring and begins hammering on him! Taylor fires back, but he's seriously overpowered and takes a beating from Windham! Scott gets in some offense, but Barry takes controls and tags back in "The Soul Stealer!" And together they nail Taylor with a double powerbomb! 1!... 2!
Scott Taylor does better against the smaller, overconfident Papa Shango after kicking out before the three! At one point Papa Shango flattens him with a falling front powerslam before going into his voodoo war dance and while his back is turned Taylor kip-ups and lets a surprised Shango have it with a superkick! He gets a two count before Windham stomps him off and the two men spend most of the remainder of Taylor's stay tagging in and out as they work the young man over. Scott makes several attempts to get to his corner, but each time he fails! Barry Windham then whips him into the ropes and he goes for a lariat! But Scott ducks it and hitting the ropes, jumps over them onto the apron; and as "Blackjack" charges back he uses the ropes as he hops over his opponent and connects with a sunset flip! He don't even get a one count, but as Windham crawls back up to his feet he's able to make the tag to Arn Anderson!
Anderson's head is in the game this time and he comes in wailing on Windham! The two men slug it out in the middle of the ring, by Double A is a man possessed and takes control of the match. He softens Windham's legs a bit before locking in the figure four! But Barry fights it! He beats his fists as he attempts to make it to the ropes, but Arn has him locked in and Windham taps! "The Enforcer" has won it! He and Taylor celebrate while Okerlund talks about Arn sending a clear message to Flair as ECW takes a...David Prazak is inside the ring with "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko and Rob Van Dam when ECW returns. He's talking about Malenko being one of the most dominant men in the sport today and how last week he proved that behind a shadow of a doubt when he made the ECW Light Heavyweight Champ Brian Christopher tap out! He says that his client will prove this yet again next week when once again when he walks out of the Wharton Field House in Moline, Illinois with the Title!Match: Matt Borne w/ Pogo the Clown & Luna Vachon vs. Dean Malenko w/ David PrazakReferee: S.D. Jones Matt Borne gives Dean Malenko a tough fight here, hitting him with his running powerbomb onto the top corner turnbuckle and the Whoopie Cushion seated senton for two counts and even treating "The Lone Wolf" to a stay in the Stump Puller single leg Boston Crab. Despite this and distactions by mostly Luna and occasionally Pogo on the outside, Dean Malenko gives Borne a good beating and after several failed pin attempts locks him in the Texas Cloverleaf for the submission victory."Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Wharton Field House in Moline, Illionois and that the ECW Light Heavyweight Title will be on the line as "Too Cool" Brian Christopher defends the belt against "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko! They tell us that while tickets for this show are sold out, those folks at home should tune in right here on Eastern Championship's home station TNN The Nashville Network to catch all the exciting ECW action live! They also remind us to watch ECW Weekend Warriors this Saturday where win or lose tonight; the Ubermensch are set to face Destruction Inc.!Tag-Team Title Match: Dustin Rhodes & Tommy Dreamer vs. The UbermenschReferee: Danny Davis "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer starts things off and it's obvious from the get-go that the Baron wants the Tag titles back under his control when The Blitrkrieg enters first! Dreamer is just a little surprised and though he doesn't back down, he gets mandhandled pretty bad early on before "Mangler's Monster" clotheslines him over the top rope to the floor below! The Blitzkrieg stalks about the ring and lets out a few monstrous growls while on the outside Von Raschke pounces on Tommy locking in the Clawhold! "The Innovator" fights to his feet screaming while Dustin Rhodes comes running in to the rescue! But the Baron rolls Dreamer into the ring and backs off Dustin while on the inside The Blitzkrieg hoists Tommy up to his feet and delivers a Telegraph from Berlin chokeslam! 1!... 2!...
Dreamer kicks out not a second too soon! And as Dreamer stumbles to his feet The Blitzkrieg begins hammering on him with clubbing forearms! But Tommy grabs him round the waist and forces him into the corner! Undeterred however Blitzkrieg hoists Dreamer up into the air and powerbombs him into the mat! But Tommy rolls backward and leaping toward his corner tags in Dustin Rhodes! "The American Nightmare" immediately climbs the turnbuckle and going airborne connects with a missile dropkick on the Monster! He then grabs the recovering behemoth by the head and goes for a bulldog off the top rope! But The Blitzkrieg never leaves his feet and plants the Tag Champ into the mat! He then stomps him a bit, runs the ropes; and connects with an elbow drop! The Blitzkrieg makes cover! 1!... 2!...
Dustin kicks out! Aryan von Raschke now wants in! And The Blitzkrieg sets up "The Nightmare" by whipping him hard toward the corner and Aryan comes off the top and takes his head off with a missile dropkick! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Rhodes gets his shoulder up after a long two! With Dustin already down, Von Raschke doesn't have much trouble keeping him grounded. He works him over before dropping him with a DDT, but Rhodes kicks out at two! Frustrated he whips him into the ropes, but he goes for a back body drop too early, Dustin hits the mat; and connects with an uppercut! He then grabs Aryan by the head and connects with a bulldog! 1!... 2!
Dustin is beat and presses Aryan's shoulders down to the mat again, choking him out a bit! 1!.. 2! Aryan kicks out! He and Rhodes begin hammering it out again and Von Raschke rakes "The Nightmare's" eyes before dragging him to the corner and hopping up to a seated position on the top turnbuckle connects with a Tornado DDT! 1!... 2!...
Dustin kicks out! The Baron can't believe it and begins calling for blood! After arguing with Aryan a bit, he gets him to tag in The Blitzkrieg! "Mangler's Monster" beats Rhodes down a bit more before going for the Muscle Buster! When he's suddenly hammered hard from behind by Tommy Dreamer who's got a singapore cane! The Blitzkrieg doesn't drop Dustin and takes a second whack where the cane snaps over his back! And Davis DQs the Tag-Team Champs! Turning toward Dreamer, The Blitzkrieg proceeds to hurl Dustin at him! And as he plods across the ring, Tommy and Dustin slide out of the ring to safety, heading up the ramp with Beulah McGillicutty who'se been at ringside. Inside the ring Baron von Raschke is furious and argues with Danny Davis until ECW goes to...ECW Light Heavyweight Champ "Too Cool" Brian Christopher with Jacqueline Moore cuts a promo on how his match against Dean Malenko last week was whack yo. He says that the Texas Cloverleaf should be banned and that the move is the equivalent of getting a cap popped into your sorry ass. But that's aight, because next week Christopher isn't going to let Malenko even use the move. Cause next week "The Lone Wolf" is gonna get got!Match: Brian Christopher w/ Jacqueline vs. Erin O'GradyReferee: S.D. Jones "The Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady tosses gold coins to the crowd from his cauldron before the match gets underway. He takes the fight right to the Champ as the duo fight back and forth in a fast-paced match which sees several pin attempts. O'Grady hits his Lucky Charm double underhook DDT and the Over the Rainbow splash. Both moves fail to put Brian Christopher away and the Light Heavyweight Champ ends up scoring the win with the Hip Hop guillotine legdrop off the top. Yo.Match: Prince Nana Osei Bandoh vs. Jason Venom w/ Steve CorinoReferee: Danny Davis "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase is back out playing talent scout during this match where Prince Nana Osei Bandoh holds his own against big Jason Venom. In the end the raw power of Venom and the distraction of Steve Corino prove too much for the young grappler from Ghana who falls victim to the Venom sheer-drop release powerbomb for the three count.Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's big Main Event which will see the Eastern States Champion Junkyard Dog defend his Title for the first time since he won it. They talk about how the Dog has been on a roll here in ECW of late, winning the Tournament to determine the # 1 Contender for the Eastern States Title and then going on to defeat then Champion William Regal for the belt. Poffo has a bet going that Brimstone will be JYD's mystery opponent today. And he can't wait for the soliloquy to end the show. "Mean" Gene doesn't know who the opponent is and supposes William Regal would be a good guess. Though with a fired up JYD holding the Title he says that one thing's for sure. This will be one hell of a match! But just then "Pomp and Circumstance" hits?!
Gertner: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is for the Eastern States Championship! Introducing first weighing 237 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs; he is the "Macho Man" Randy Savage!
Savage explodes from the back and entering the ring poses for the fans! Lanny thinks this is nonsense. Savage lost a match to Papa Shango at Hardcore Heaven eliminating any future Title shots! He calls "Macho Man" a has-been and undeserving of a shot at another belt. Gene however corrects him that his loss to Shango only ruled out shots at the Heavyweight Title for an entire year. Nothing was said about Randy challenging for other Titles and he's been on a winning streak of late here in ECW. So why shouldn't he get a shot? "Another One Bites the Dust" then plays and on the ramp appears the Junkyard Dog in his cowboy hat! He barks for the crowd as he shows off the Eastern States Title!
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent this evening weighing 280 lbs. from Wadesboro, North Carolina; he is the Eastern States Champion; JYD The Junkyard Dog!Eastern States Title Match: Junkyard Dog (c) vs. Randy SavageReferee: S.D. Jones Out on the apron Junkyard Dog dances for the cheering crowd when Randy Savage grabs him and tosses him inside! He goes to pound on a stunned JYD who's up on one knee when S.D. Jones interjects himself and forces Savage to back off. He ten starts the match! "Macho Man" charges right back in and the two men begin beating the hell out of one another! Randy however begins landing more and more blows. He is soon in contol of the match and dominates JYD, throwing him into the ropes and connecting with a hairpull hangman! And as the Dog staggers about the ring, Savage leaps up onto the top rope as agile as a cat and connects with a leaping clothesline! He makes the cover! 1!
Junkyard kicks out! Randy Savage puts the boots to him! He then hits a vertical suplex and makes another cover! 1!..
JYD kicks out! "The Macho One" isn't playing around! He stays right on the Dog beating the hell out of him! He whips him into the corner and connects with the running high knee before repeating the process! Junkyard stumbles out of the corner and Savage nails him from behind with an atomic drop! He doesn't go for the cover this time and instead stomps the hell out of the Champ again! He then hoists the weary Dog to his feet and sends him back to the mat via a gutwrench suplex! 1!... 2!
Junkyard kicks out again! Randy is pisses and begins punching and elbowing JYD's head in! He pulls the Dog to his feet again, but this time Junkyard fires back with a furious headbutt! He's busted himself open but that doesn't stop the Dog from hammering Savage across the ring into the ropes before whipping him across the ring! Junkyard Dog charges in with a clothesline! But Randy sees it coming and throws the Champ out to the floor!
Savage then climbs out onto the apron and leaping off the double axe handle connects! And he begins hammering JYD's head into the barricade! But Junkyard blocks it and treats Randy to some of his own medicine! Junkyard climbs back into the ring at 5! Savage is staggering about! 6! 7! 8! He's back inside! But JYD is right on him and begins stomping and hammering him! But Randy smacks him away and begins pounding on the Dog! He whips him across the ring into the ropes and connects with a lariat takedown! He then barks for the crowd as he stomps the Dog's head busting him open further! The ring is decorated in blood as Randy Savage hoists Junkyard Dog to his feet and sets him up for the Piledriver! And it connects! He hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
3! "Macho Man" Randy Savage has done it! He's the new Eastern States Champion! He poses for the belt while Junkyard Dog claws his way up to his feet! Savage hops down for the turnbuckle with the belt and extends his hand to JYD! Junkyard goes to take it; but Savage lets him have it with the Title! Junkyard is out cold as "Macho Man" poses with one foot on the Dog's head as he raises his new Championship into the air!

Joel Gertner makes the intros and Danny Davis officiates all matches.Match: Michele Starr w/ Joe E. Legend vs. Beulah McGillicutty w/ Tommy Dreamer The fans are psyched to see Beulah McGillicutty make her in-ring return and the announcers are glad to see "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer has accompanied her to the ring especially after the Women's Champ Michele Starr arrives on the scene. "The Gorgeous One" has some words with Dreamer before the match gets underway. Beulah locks up with Starr, which proves to be a mistake as he uses his superior strength to hurl her back across the ring! Michele then struts about the ring as the fans boo and hiss at him. But when he turns back to McGillicutty, she kicks him in the nuts! And then rolls him up into a small package! 1!... 2!...
Starr just kicks out! He has trouble getting to his feet, even moreso when Beulah begins stomping and clawing the hell out of him! Michele uses her rage against her however, pulling her legs out from under her and airplane spins McGillicutty; throwing her across the ring! He then begins arguing with the ref about the low blow, but Davis swears he didn't see anything (even though he obviously did). Starr gets another surprises however when he gets school boyed! (something HTM says Starr usually likes)
Michele however kicks out again just before the three! Beulah attempts to keep on top of him, but this time "The Gorgeous One" smacks her away! And he begins hammering into McGillicutty! Beulah however fights back and the two opponents begin clawing and punching one another when...The Ubermensch come down the ramp and attack Tommy Dreamer! They hand "The Innovator" a beating on the outside, distracting Beulah who's just caught Starr's foot blocking a kick and "The Gorgeous One" jumps up letting her have it with an enziguiri kick! He makes the cover and picks up the win! Michele Starr holds the belt over his downed opponent while "It's Raining Men" by "The Weather Girls" plays. After the break we're brought in front of the ECW banner where Terri Runnels is talking with The Ubermensch, particularly The Baron von Rasche about why they attacked Tommy Dreamer before the break. The Baron tells her to wait just a minute because he wants to see once again what happened during the break! We're then shown a clip of The Blitzkrieg delivering the Muscle Buster on Tommy Dreamer on the concrete floor! Tha Baron laughs at this before telling Terri that they attacked Dreamer because they're not done with the "Tag-Team Champions!" He says that his men, the pride of Germany; his Ubermensch had Dreamer and Rhodes beat dead to rights this past Wednesday and "The Innovator" got himself disqualified on purpose! He says that before they're done the Champs won't just lose their Titles, they'll know the true pain of defeat as their bones are ground to dust, their flesh is minced; and their ashes are given over to eternity! After he finishes his rant however they're confronted by...Destruction Inc.! Mongo Vyle gets in the Baron's face and tell him that him and his boys had only better be prepared for one thing tonight! And that's to get.... "Destroyed!" Rhino roars into the camera!Match: Cousin Jamie w/ Doug Gilbert vs. B. Brian Blair B. Brian Blair gives Cousin Jamie a good fight, locking him in the Sleeper Hold and the Boston Crab for a bit before the Bayou Boy ends up nailing him with the Pay Dirt single underhook DDT for the win.

We see "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair smack the taste out of Bischoff's mouth, Spike Highes hit the corner springboard cutter on Chris Harris, Barry Windham tapping out to Arn Anderson's figure four, Dean Malenko locking Matt Borne in the Texas Cloverleaf, Tommy Dreamer getting a Telegraph from Berlin and smacking Blitzkrieg in the back with a singapore cane, Brian Christopher hitting the Hip Hop guillotine legDrop on Erin O'Grady and finally "Macho Man" Randy Savage laying Junkyard Dog out with a Piledriver! The ECW Wednesday Nights logo then appears.After the break we get a recap to two weeks ago where ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair no-showed during the Main Event and Tully Blanchard suffered a beatdown courtesy of Papa Shango and Barry Windham as a result. We're then told about Flair's little outburst this past Wednesday when he assaulted ECW President Eric Bischoff! Zumhoff doesn't know what has gotten into Flair (though Honky does, he's Ric Flair baby!); but he's sure we'll hear more on this developing situation this coming Wednesday.Match: Tully Blanchard w/ Scott Taylor vs. Mike Quackenbush Tully Blanchard still looks a little worse for rare as he makes his first in-ring appearance since the attack on him by The Dark Circle. We're told he requested a match tonight "to walk it off." Scott Taylor with him at ringside as the match begins and Mike Quackenbush impresses with some innovative offense including the Quackendriver standing Iconoclasm, reverse frankensteiner; and a monkey flip. It doesn't help however and the greatest TV Champ of all time mostly dominates the young grappler. Tully Blanchard hits the slingshot suplex for the win.After the match we're taken back stage for Honky Tonk Man's "Shake, Rattle; and Roll" segment where he tells us he's been ordered to play this by the Baron; and let's face it: who's dumb enough to argue with The Blitzkrieg? So here's Rammstein with "Ich tu dir weh!"Rammstein - Ich tu der Weh English SubtitlesZumhoff and HTM welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening. They talk about both teams, both former Tag-Team Champions. The Ubermensch who came within an inch of beating the Tag Champs for the Titles this past Wednesday. And only didn't according to Honky because Tommy Dreamer cheated. They then talk about Destruction Inc. who's been running with the Dark Circle of late. They tell us that both these teams are capable and both are hungry to regain the Titles, for their chance to face Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes. And both of them know that a win here tonight could be just the push they need to get that shot! "Fucking Hostile" by Pantera rips throught the arena!
Gertner: The following Tag-Team contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first at a combined weight of 596 lbs.; they are the team of "The Man-Beast" Rhino and "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle; Destruction Inc.!
Destruction Inc. head down to the ring and stalk about it while a nervous Danny Davis looks on.
Gertner: And introducing their opponents this evening hailing from the Republic of Germany and weighing 546 lbs.; accompanied to the ring by the Baron Von Raschke; they are "Mangler's Monster" The Blitzkrieg and Aryan von Raschke; The Ubermensch!Tag-Team Match: The Ubermensch vs. Destruction Inc. Zumhoff and HTM tell us that the Baron is "going for the throat" again in this one when they start off with the Blitzkrieg in the ring! "The Man-Beast" Rhino is no small challenge however and he takes the fight right to the big man and fairs well, hammering "Mangler's Monster" into the corner with several shoulder blocks before running in and nailing the Gore striking spear! The Blitzkrieg doesn't go down however and stays hung in the corner as raises his hands in victory. He then turns an walks right into a hand striking out, clutching his throat; and planting him with the Telegraph from Berlin chokeslam! The Blitzkrieg is back up and he begins underloading with stomps on Rhino as he crawls to his feet and then hammers him back into the ropes where he clubs him a bit before goes for the whip! Big boot on the rebound and Rhino is seeing stars as he comes back up to his feet and gets flattened with a pumphandle slam! The Blitzkrieg steps on Rhino for the cover while glaring at Mongo Vyle! 1!... 2!
Rhino trips the Blitzkrieg up with a toe hold and locks him in an ankle lock! Buck reminds us that's the same ankle "The Monster" injured back in December! Blitzkrieg is growling in pain! But it's short-lived as Rhino is sent crashing to the canvas courtesy of a missile dropkick from Aryan von Raschke! Aryan stomps Rhino out while his partner recovers, but in comes "The Machiavellan Mauler" who decapitates von Raschke with a clothesline! Vyle soon knows how that feels as The Blitzkrieg delivers one of his own! A brawl has busted loose in the ring! But the Blirzkrieg clears Destruction Inc. from it with some devastating clotheslines! He then tags out to Aryan.
Rhino slides back in and von Raschke hits him with a baseball slide before popping back up and stomping him out! Buck sells Aryan as dangerous, because he doesn't care if he hurts you as he helps Rhino to his feet and attempts a bulldog! But Rhino blocks it and shovers his opponent into the ropes before making the tag to big Mongo Vyle! Aryan meanwhile comes off the ropes and walks right into the Utter Destruction flapjack/cutter combo! And it's over! 1!... 2!...
The Blitzkrieg is back in the ring and picking "The Mauler" up throws him off! Vyle is back up and the two men begin pounding one another when Aryan rolls Mongo up from behind! 1!.... 2!...
Vyle powers out! Aryan runs the ropes as Mongo recovers and takes him back down to the mat with a leaping knee strike to the face! With the big man down, he stomps him and pounds him a bit before locking in a Clawhold! Vyle is screaming and swinging wildly. Aryan does his best to avoid the punches as he punishes his opponent! Just then however...Beulah McGillicutty shows up?! She's up on the apron distracting Davis who orders her to the back. Zumhoff and Honky agree this match is certainly no place for a lady. Meanwhile behind the ref's back Tommy Dreamer is in the ring with a steel chair! And he waffles Aryan von Raschke! He rolls back out only to come face to face with the Baron who's screaming at him! Tommy goes to strike him, but the chair is grabbed from his hands and thrown aside as The Blitzkrieg grabs him and hoisting him into the air, carries him toward the announcer's desk! Buck and HTM get out of dodge as "Mangler's Monster" Muscle Busts Dreamer through the table!
Meanwhile on the inside Mongo Vyle is back in control! He works Aryan von Raschke over for a bit before nailing him with the Mongo Masher sitout full nelson atomic drop! He hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
3! Destruction Inc. have won it!

8/14/96 - Wharton Field House Moline, IL"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the Wharton Field House in Moline, Illinous for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! They then talk about last week's show including "Macho Man" Randy Savage defeating Eastern States Champion Junkyard Dog in brutal fashion to win the Title, the Ubermensch defeating the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer by DQ; and ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair attacking ECW President Eric Bischoff after "Easy E" confronted "Naitch" regarding his recent actions here in ECW! We have word we'll here more on that situation here tonight. Lanny is calling for Flair to be stripped of the Title, so it can be handed to someone more worthy; someone more like himself!
Okerlund rolls his eyes as he begins to hype tonight's big card including "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango teaming with "Blackjack" Barry Windham against the Hughes Brothers and the Tag-Team Champs Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer will be in action; this time in singles matches! Also on the agenda tonight, the ECW Light Heavyweight Championship will be decided as Champion "Too Cool" Brian Christopher defends against "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko and in the huge Main Event..."Also Sprach Zarathustra" hits?! And out from the back swaggers ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair! Woooo! And he has "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit with him! Flair heads down to the ring and gets on the mic. He tells us that before that old windbag Gene Okerlund wastes anymore of his valuable breath, he's gonna correct him (just like Lanny always has to) and announce that in the Main Event we'll see the greatest ECW Champion of all-time! The man everyone in Moline, Illinois has come out here to see! The man, the Champ; the one true wrestling G... O... D.... "Nature Boy" Ric Flair! Wooooo!Just then however he's interrupted by "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula! And out on the ramp appears ECW President Eric Bischoff who has head of security Ronnie Garvin with him. Eric tells Flair he's out of his mind. That he isn't competing tonight, because he's not even deserving to step foot in that ring! He says that on top of no-showing to a Main Event, on top of appearing on WCW TV, on top of attacking Eric and then storming out of the arena; "Nature Boy" went and did it again this past Monday! Flair gets two handfuls of Curt’s face and drags him under the bottom rope to the floor. Nick Patrick calls for the bell, Hennig vs. Steamboat is over, but Hennig and Flair is just getting started! The Nature Boy is lighting the Champion up with chop after chop. Curt thumbs Ric in the eye and hammers away at him before Irish whipping him into the guardrail. Curt takes the opportunity to start heading up the aisle, only to have Flair come chasing after him! Flair jumps on his back and takes him down in the middle of the aisle! Rights and lefts, Curt rolls him over and delivers some big shots of his own, WHAT A FIGHT! Oh man, here comes Doug Dillinger and WCW super security, followed by Bagwell and Norton, finally able to break things up!Ric Flair is looking rather pleased with himself as the video ends. Ric Flair tells Eric that he doesn't care. That he's the Eastern Heavyweight Champion! And while he wears the belt he'll do whatever he damn well pleases buddy! But he's glad that Bischoff has brought ol' "Ms. Atlanta Lively" and his little security force out with him tonight; because it'll save Flair from having to punch Bischoff in his damn face again! Because whether "All Class" likes it or not; he's competing here tonight! Woooo!
Flair then throws down the mic and exits the ring with Benoit. The two men walk up the ramp and "Naitch" eyeballs Bischoff and Garvin with a chuckle as he heads into the back.Back from the break Joel Gertner announces the opponents in the first match of the night.Match: Steve Blackman w/ Captain Lou Albano vs. Prince Nana Osei BandohReferee: Danny Davis The Ghanan Prince gives his all here, taking the fight right to "The Silent Assassin" Steve Blackman whom he gets a two count off of after hitting a double underhook suplex off a body avalanche in the corner. Steve Blackman however controls most of the match and ends it with a thrust kick to the chest which he follows up with a bridged Fisherman's suplex for the three. After this match we're shown a video recap of what went down between Beulah McGillicutty and the ECW Women's Champion "Gorgeous" Michele Starr on this past week's edition of ECW Weekened Warriors! We see Starr smacking Beulah around inside the ring as Tommy Dreamer looks on. We're then told that "The Innovator" requested a match with Starr here tonight; but instead will be getting his tag-team partner Joe E. Legend.Match: Tommy Dreamer w/ Dustin Rhodes vs. Joe E. Legend w/ Michele StarrReferee: S.D. Jones Lanny says of course Starr wouldn't want to fight Dreamer and that "The Innovator" should be ashamed of himself for even thinking of laying hands on the Women's Champ. "Mean" Gene however would love to see Dreamer get his hands on "The Gorgeous One." Inside the ring Joe E. Legend starts off strong against Dreamer who he nearly puts away with a Chokebom, an Electric Chair facebuster and several other power moves. On the outside he is cheered on by both Beulah McGillicutty and Dustin Rhodes. Throughout the match Michele Starr taunts Beulah until "The American Nightmare" goes after him and chases the Women's Champ off. Inside the ring Dreamer continually fights back, but finds himself trapped in a modified anaconda vice! He fights his way out of it however and stumbling to his feet kicks Joe E. Legend in the gut before hoisting him up onto his shoulders and nails him with a fireman's carry slam for the pinfall.
After the match Michele Starr tries to attack Dreamer from behind, but Tommy catches him and running him toward the ropes throws him out to the floor! He then shares a drink with Dustin Rhodes from his flask as the Tag-Team Champs celebrate with Beulah. ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is in front of the ECW banner with the new Eastern States Champion "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Debbie Combs whom she is talking to about fan reaction to his brutal beatdown of Junkyard Dog here last week. Savage says that he don't care about JYD! That he was sending a message. Yeah. A message to everyone on this roster. See, the "Macho Man" may not be able to challenge for the ECW Title, ya dig. But that don't mean he don't still have claws. That don't mean Randy Savage's fangs aren't just as sharp as they've ever been. And no one on this roster is safe. Dig it. Cause what "Macho Man" Randy Savage wants he takes brother. Just like last week when he set his sights on the Eastern States Championship! Oooh yeah!Match: Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. Douglas WilliamsReferee: Danny Davis Okerlund is rather annoyed during this match when "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase joins them at the broadcast booth. He tells them that he's reached a decision on who he is going to be representing here at ECW; but refuses to tell us. Lanny however says he already knows being a "Genius" and all. Inside the ring the action is fast-paced as "The U.K. Kidd" and "The Japanese Buzzsaw" battle back and forth. Yoshihiro Tajiri with some help from his manager Mr. Fuji on one occasion keeps control both of the match however before hitting Douglas Williams with the Shining Wizard for the win."Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. They tell us that while tickets for this show are sold out, those folks at home should tune in right here on Eastern Championship's home station of TNN The Nashville Network!Tag-Team Match: The Hughes Brothers vs. Papa Shango & Barry Windham w/ BrimstoneReferee: Danny Davis The Hughes Brothers are out first and get in a good bit of offense. Testify! Spike Hughes hits the double foot stomp on Windham and Devon Hughes gets a near two count on "The Soul Stealer" after laying him out with a front powerslam. Papa Shango and Barry Windham act as a well oiled machine here and dominate most of the match-up with "Blackjack" taking Devon's head off with a lariat for the win.After the match Rick Rude's strip music hits! And out from the back swaggers "The Ravishing One!" Rude looks pissed and calls Shango out for attacking him two weeks ago! He doesn't know what new beef "The Soul Stealer" has with him or if his ass is still sore about him ending his Title run; but he's going to put an end to it here tonight!
Shango laughs at Rude however and tells him it's nothing personal. That he's already cleared his path of destruction toward the ECW Title of the "Macho Man." And that by eliminating Rude too, the powers of the Dark One will have ensured the next shot at the ECW Title belongs to "The Soul Stealer!" This doesn't seem to help matters any and Rick Rude charges down to the ring and begins brawling with Shango! Barry is right there to back his teammate up however and the numbers game wins out with Rude retreating to the outside of the ring! He is pointing at Shango and the two men are still arguing as ECW goes to...Back from break we're shown a video clip from two weeks ago of Dean Malenko locking ECW Light Heavyweight Champ "Too Cool" Brian Christopher in the Texas Cloverleaf to earn his Title shot here tonight!Light Heavyweight Title Match: Brian Christopher w/ Jacqueline vs. Dean Malenko w/ David PrazakReferee: S.D. Jones Dean Malenko comes right after the ECW Light Heavyweight Champ and hammers him a bit before whipping him into the ropes, but Brian Christopher reverses it an takes "The Lone Wolf" down with a dropkick! From here "Too Cool" is in control and keeping Malenko grounded connects with a full nelson facebuster! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!
Malenko kicks out! Brian stomps him out a bit before going up top and signals for the Hip Hop guillotine legdrop! He leaps off!
But catches an ass full of canvas as Malenko rolls out of the way! Back up on his feet "The Lone Wolf" pulls Brian up to his feet and crowns him with a DDT! He hooks the leg! 1! 2!
Christopher kicks out! Dean grabs him in a quick headlock which he transitions into a head scissors! And the Champ begins to fade! He rallies back however, but Malenko keeps on top of him and locks in the Texas Cloverleaf! Brian is going to tap!
But he makes it to the ropes! Jones breaks them up and as Brian pulls himself up to the ropes, Malenko charges in with another attack! But Christopher back body drops him out to the floor! But Dean grabs the ropes and lands out on the apron! He grabs Brian and the two men slug it out a bit over the top rope before "Too Cool" runs the ropes and leaping over Malenko hits him with a sunset flip powerbomb to the outside!
Both men are down and the ref begins the 10 count! Brian however hauls himself up to his feet and drags himself back into the ring! The count has reached 7 and Dean has stumbled back up and he's inside by 9!
Brian Christopher connects with a somersault legdrop onto Malenko and rolls him over for the cover! 1! 2!
"The Lone Wolf" gets his shoulder up! Brian Christopher attempts to keep Dean down, but he keeps on fighting back! He's on his feet and after a bit of back and forth he takes control with a knee to the gut! He then runs the Champ across the ring and hammers his head into the turnbuckle before grabbing him from behind and hits a suplex! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Christopher kicks out! He then stomps Brian's legs a bit before locking in the Cloverleaf! And Brian taps! But where's the ref?! Jone is busy being distracted by Jaqueline Moore! Malenko grabs Jones and begins arguing him when he's rolled up by Brian Christopher! 1!... 2!...
Malenko kicks out just before the three! Brian can't believe it! Malenko is back up and getting grabbed by Christopher, he is whipped into the corner! "Too Cool" runs in with an elbow smash before setting Dean up on the top turnbuckle! He goes for the Tornado DDT! But Dean Malenko blocks it! He kicks Brian Christopher to regain control and powerbombs him off the top rope! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
3! Dean Malenko has done it! He's the new Light Heavyyweight Champ! Prazak enters the ring and hands Malenko the belt and Dean raises it high into the air.Match: Dustin Rhodes w/ Tommy Dreamer vs. The Blitzkrieg w/ Aryan von RaschkeReferee: Danny Davis Lanny tells us that Dustin Rhodes should be clubbing his Tag-Team partner with that flask of his for this one. Dreamer attacks Blitzkrieg with a singapore cane last week and somehow "The American Nightmare" gets this match?! Indeed. Dustin is no slouch and holds his own for a while; but in the end he gets dominated by "Mangler's Monster" The Blitzkrieg; who defeats one half of the Tag-Team Champions with a vicious looking Muscle Buster! And he wouldn't have been done there except...
Tommy Dreamer runs in to make the save, but ends up being met halfway by Aryan von Raschke who busts him in the chops with the Sieg Heil! superkick! The Ubermensch stand victorious with the Baron while Beulah looks on concerned from the sidelines when "Fucking Hostile" by Pantera explodes across the arena!And out on the ramp appear "The Man-Beast" Rhino and "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle! Mongo warns the Ubermensch that he and Rhino beat them clean this past week on ECW Weekend Warriors! Therefore they get the next shot at that punk Dreamer and "The Nightmare's" Titles! And if they don't like it; they had better be prepared to get... he passes Rhino the mic. "Destroyed!"Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the break before hyping tonight's huge Main Event which will see..."Also Sprach Zarathustra" play?! And out from the ack comes "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair with the ECW Title around his waist and in his ring gear he's ready for action! Chris Benoit follows him down to the ring, but they only get halfway down the ramp when..."White Train" by Tito & Tarantula hits! And out from the back comes Eric Bischoff who once again has head of security Ronnie Garvin and his security team with him! The ECW President wants to know just what in the hell Flair thinks he's doing out here. He warns that if Ric doesn't leave of his own accord he'll have Garvin and company remove him from the building by force!
Ric shrugs it off and shakes his head. He reminds Eric that he's holding the ECW Championship! Which means he fights who he wants! When he wants! He then heads down to the ring and struts about in his robe while a pissed Bischoff looks on. Ronni Garvin obviously wants to go down and beat the hell out of Flair, but Eric objects to this. He looks about ready to make an announcement when..."The Enforcer" Arn Anderson shows up with Tully Blanchard and Scott Taylor! He talks to Eric, who in turn hands AA the microphone. He tries to talk some sense into Flair. Tells him to come into the back so they can work all this out. That Ric is being irrational...
Irrational?! Flair wants to know if Arn remembers who in the damn hell he's talking to here?!! There'd be no "Enforcer" without Ric Flair! Hell there'd be no sport of wrestling without "The Nature Boy!" Woooo! And that Arn had better mind his damned business before he really, reallly pisses Flair off brother! He carries on for a bit longer before...
Tully Blanchard heads down to the ring?! He isn't in the best of shape limping a little as he climbs inside and getting on the microphone tells a livid Ric Flair that two weeks ago... he walked out on the Main Event here at ECW. And honestly he could care less. As far as he's concerned the Horsemen have earned the right in this business to do what they want, when they want. But two weeks ago Flair didn't just walk out of a Main Event. He didn't just walk out of ECW. He walked out on a fellow Horseman. So S.D.? Get in here and start the match!Main Event: Ric Flair w/ Chris Benoit vs. Tully Blanchard w/ Arn Anderson & Scott TaylorReferee: S.D. Jones Ric Flair circles about the ring as he faces off with Tully Blanchard. Tully looks pissed as he tries to lock up with "The Nature Boy," but Flair keeps backing out and seems to be trying to talk Blanchard out of the match. Tully however isn't having it and punches Flair! Ric hits the ground and looks genuninely shocked as he bounces back up to his feet. Blanchard grabs him and the two men grapple and shove about the ring for a bit before Flair stop, drops; and rolls to the outside! Blanchard however follows him out and begins unloading on Flair! He beats Ric back into the apron and rolls him into the ring, but Flair grabs Tully pulling him inside as they exchange punches while they roll about the canvas. On top of the ECW Champ, Blanchard pops up for an elbow drop; but Flair quickly rolls up to his feet out of harms way.
This time as Tully locks up, Flair is ready for him and kicks him in the gut! He chops Tully back into the corner where he lets him have it with several more! Then grabbing him in a headlock he works over the neck of his opponent. Tully however grabs Ric by the leg and drops him onto his back! Is he going for the figure four? A Boston Crab? We don't know as Ric kicks Tully back off of his leg! Both men are down and pop back up as they circle about the ring. Finally locking it up again, this time it's Tully who lets Ric have it with a kick to the gut before hammering him down to the mat with a hard right, nailing a jumping knee drop; and locking in a rear chinlock! Tully holds it for a bit, but Ric fights his way up to his feet! Only to get kneed in the back by Blanchard! Tully hammers Ric back into the corner; but once they get there "The Nature Boy" fires back! And a headbutt knocks Tully into the corner! The two men begin trading chops and punches back and forth! Flair soon has the upperhand however and is beating Blanchard about the ring! Tully is wobbly on his feet and goes down several times before being driven back into the ropes, where he falls down and at the same time grabs Flair's tights pulling him down and throwing him out of the ring!
Ric hits the floor below. Clawing his way across the mat Tully grabs Flair's head while he's still inside and they struggle a bit before Flair pulls Blanchard out to the floor. And "Naitch" begins unloading on Tully once again! Ric rolls back in and poses for the booing crowd. Blanchard follows him back in only to find himself getting his head hammered into the top turnbuckle! Blanchard stumbles out of the corner after several shots and as Ric comes in to punish him some more, he hits him with a well-placed kick to the gut which he follows up with a clubbing blow to the back knocking Flair down to the mat! And grabbing Ric by the legs he goes for the figur four leglock!
But Ric grabs him by the hair and rolls him up! 1!... 2!
Blanchard kicks out! Flair helps Tully to his feet only to drive him into the corner where he mounts the second rope and begins raining down the punches! 1! 2! 3! 4! 5! S.D. Jones pulls Flair down and begins yelling at him when Ric throws the ref down to the floor! And as Flair heads back toward Blanchard he jumps up onto the second rope and slams Ric down to the floor with a double axe handle! And both men are down! But Tully is up first and climbs onto Flair with the cover! 1!... 2!
Ric gets his shoulder up! Flair is back up now, but so is Blanchard who is soon hammering away on a dazed Ric Flair! He takes Flair down with a snapmare which he transitions into a headlock! But Ric reverses with a head scissors! And Tully rolls over the Champ with a bridging pin! 1!... Flair lifts himself and Tully off of the mat! And getting to his feet turns Blanchard over into a backslide! 1!.. 2!
Tully kicks out! And popping back up he drives Flair into the corner with a clothesline! Tully works Flair over in the corner for a bit, but soon the Champ reverses it! Tully stumbles out only to be chopped and hammered about the ring by his fellow Horseman! Blanchard drops down to one knee in the corner and when Flair comes in he pops back up and kicks Ric in the gut! He then drops him with a shoulder block before heading out to the apron and going up top! But Flair is back up and catching Tully throws him down to the mat! And Flair is strutting about the ring! He begins torturing Blanchard, working over his injured leg! Tully is screaming, but "Naitch" just keeps it up! He then sets him up for the figure four! But he stops halfway through it and begins working over Blanchard's leg again!
Arn Anderson has apparently had enough of this however and jumping into the ring he orders Flair to stop it! And into the ring comes "The Canadian Crippler!" Benoit tackles Anderson and the two men begin trading blows! They roll out of the ring to the floor while inside the ring Ric Flair goes back to locking in the figure four! But he gets dropped by a superkick! Scott Taylor has just laid feet on "The Nature Boy!" And S.D. Jones has called for the bell, awarding the match to Flair by DQ! Ric looks stunned as he sits up on his ass while on the outside Benoit hammers Arn head first into the table! And leaving him there he heads into the ring while Scott Taylor is challenging Flair! But instead he is grabbed from behind by Benoit who takes him down with the Crippler Crossface! Taylor is screaming and looking to tap out! But Benoit has no interest in letting go! Ric is now back up! He's busy screaming at Taylor when Arn enters the ring! He and Tully are now both having some strong words with Flair! Ric relents however and calls off Benoit, who he leaves with while Blanchard and Anderson check on their unconscious ally.

They have an action-packed show lined up for us this evening. The Women's Champion "Gorgeous" Michele Starr will be in action as will the monstrous Pogo the Clown! And in the huge Main Event; The Mexi-Kings make their return following a loss to Steve Corino and Jason Venom on Weekend Warriors two weeks ago when they take on the team of The Texas Hangmen Black Bart and Jesse Barr!
Joel Gertner makes with the intros while Danny Davis officiates all matches.Match: Michele Starr w/ Joe E. Legend vs. Rockin' Robin Buck says that "The Gorgeous One" has to be one of the most vile men this business has ever seen. Inside the ring Rockin' Robin does her best to defeat the Women's Champ, but Starr uses his superior strength to beat her down and finishes her off for the three with the Falling Starr jumping splash.
After the match Starr gives the downed Robin one of his "makovers" before cutting a promo inside the ring about being the most dominating Women'S Champion to date! He further tells us he'll face any woman, any time for his Title; having no doubt he'll defeat the lesser sex! After the break in front of the ECW Banner "The Ring Master" Matt Borne and his Circus of Doom cohorts talk with ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels about how their affiliation with the Dark Circle has only led to bigger and badder opportunities for the Carnies; and now they are ready to head to the Big Top! Luna then informs Terri she has a "pretty mouth"....Match: Pogo the Clown w/ Matt Borne vs. Bobby StarrNot much to be said about this one. Pogo the Clown tears poor Bobby Starr apart before Burying Him in the Basement.

Legend with a fireman's carry slam, Yoshihiro Tajiri takes Douglas Williams' head off with the Shining Wizard, Barry Windham drop Devon Hughes with the lariat, "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko hammer Brian Christopher into the mat with a powerbomb off the second rope, The Blitzkrieg hit Dustin Rhodes with a Muscle Buster and deliver a Telegraph from Berlin to Dreamer, Scott Taylor clock Ric Flair with a superkick; and finally Chris Benoit punishing Taylor in the Crippler Crossface! The ECW Wednesday Nights logo then appears.Match: Jeff Hardy w/ Matt Hardy vs. Ace Steel Ace Steel gives Jeff Hardy a fast-paced back and forth match which sees Jeff nearly get pinned via the Spinal Shock gory neckbreaker! Luckily Matt is there to throw his little brother's foot up on the bottom rope where he alerts Davis to it's prescence. Jeff is in trouble for a bit afterward, but he manages to rally back before nailing Steel with a Swanton Bomb for the win!After the match we're taken back stage for Buck Zumhoff's "Rock 'N Rolling" segment where he invites us to party with one of the Hardy Boyz favorite bands; The Offspring who provide their new entrance music "Come Out and Play!"The Offspring - "Come Out And Play"Zumhoff and HTM welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's Main Event! They tell us that the Mexi-Kings who lost to Corino and Venom two weeks ago are guaranteed not to be in a good mood tonight; reminding us that "Mr. Wrestling" stole that win thanks to a handful of jeans. Tonight they're up against The Texas Hangmen!
Gertner: The following Tag-Team Contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first accompanied to the ring by "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr. and weighing in at a combined 527 lbs. they are the team of "The Outlaw" Black Bart and "Bulldog" Jesse Barr; The Texas Hangmen!
The cowboys come down to the ring and Honky says that these three Texans are probably looking forward to kicking some Mexican ass tonight. Zumhoff informs us that while Bart and Barr have teamed in the past, Orton is a new addition to the group.
Gertner: And now introducing their opponents this evening at a combined 490 lbs. they are the team of Shawn Hernandez and Homicide; the Mexi-Kings! Tag-Team Match: The Mexi-Kings vs. The Texas Hangmen Black Bart & Jesse Barr w/ Bob Orton Jr. Making his ECW debut here Bob Orton Jr. does his best to make himself a pain in the ass for the Mex-Kings at ringside, even going so far to almost score the win for his team when he pops in behind Davis' back and hits Homicide with a forearm smash. Black Bart and Jesse Barr work well as a team and nearly have the Mexi-Kings beat at several points, coming closest when Black Bart nails Homicide with the Texas Trash Compactor diving leg drop. After effectively eliminating Bart from the match with an inverted sitout side powerslam by Shawn Hernandez; the Mexi-Kings isolate Jesse Barr and work him over with frequent tags in and out before Homicide hits him with the Gringo Cutter for the win.
After the match Hernandez gets on the microphone and warns Steve Corino and Jason Venom that two weeks ago they won like a couple of punks. And the Mexi-King aren't through with them yet holmes.

8/21/96 - The Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena Ashwaubenon, WI"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! Before getting down to business, they briefly recap last week's show including Rick Rude's ongoing problems with The Dark Circle, Dean Malenko defeating Brian Christopher for the ECW Light Heavyweight Championship, Destruction Inc. challenging the Ubermensch to a #1 Contender's Match; and of course the talk of the town; ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair! They talk about how Bischoff refused to let Flair compete last week until his own ally in the Horsemen Tully Blanchard took him up on that challenge. This led to a huge brawl between "Naitch" and Benoit with the Horsemen! They're sure they'll hear more on this situation here late tonight!
They then begin running down tonight's big card which will include the aforementioned # 1 Contender's match for the Tag-Team Championships, Easter States Champ "Macho Man" Randy Savage will also be in action and...Hold that thought. Because "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula has just interrupted it! And out from the back swaggers ECW President Eric Bischoff who remains on the ramp as he thanks everyone in the arena for being here tonight and the folks at home for tuning in. Now what he's out here to talk about here tonight is the Eastern Heavyweight Championship. Or more specifically the man who currently holds that Title; the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair! He says that we all know Flair has been a bit, shall we say, uncontrollable of late; even attacking "Easy E" in that very ring. Obviously that can't be allowed to continue. So to settle this he'd like to call "Naitch" out here right now!A few seconds pass before "Also Sprach Zarathustra" hits! And out from the back comes Flair in his suit holding the ECW Title over his shoulder! He's followed out by Chris Benoit who as always looks ready for a fight. Flair takes the mic out of Bischoff's hand and lets out a Woooo! He then tells Eric he's out here. Now what does he want? Eric gets the mic back and tells Flair that he's sure he knows that they've had their differences in opinion of late here in ECW. And alot of that has to do with the fact the "Nature Boy" thinks he should be allowed to appear when he wants and where he wants. More specifically he likes to appear on WCW tv while still under contract with this company. Well as some of the fans here tonight know; this past Monday on Nitro; ECW President Eric Bischoff was guilty of the same thing!Video recap of Bischoff on Nitro?!“Welcome back to Nitro fans,” still very little to report to you at this time. Vice President Magnum T.A. has made his way in and out of President Dillon’s office various times throughout the night, but is very tight lipped. JJ himself has not been out of the office, and has been on the phone each time I’ve been able to get a peek inside. As soon as I have…..“And when Eric Bischoff is around, it can mean only one thing, that business… is at hand"Now before he gets labeled a hypocrite or worse, as everyone knows by now; when Eric Bischoff makes an appearance it can only mean one thing; and that's business is at hand! He then tells us he has some very special business for us here tonight! But first he'd like to introduce us to a couple of friends of his! The WCW Nitro theme then hits?!And out from the back comes ECW Presidents JJ Dillon and Magnum TA?! Flair looks like his head is gonna explode, but Eric tells him to wait a minute and let them explain. He then thanks Dillon and Magnum for being here tonight. They tell us it's weird being on the distinguished compeitition's show, but thank the fans for having them though. Eric then tells Flair and us that while he was over at WCW he had a very special mission. And that was to find a way to keep the ECW Title off of a competito's show and to his surprise; WCW management had just as big a problem with it as he did! Dillon and Magnum both agree. Bischoff goes on to say that while they were there though, he and his new friends JJ and Mags got to brainstorming on how to solve their mutual problem. And are you ready for what they came up with?
A joint Pay Per-View event! That's right! On September 9th we will see two of this sport's top promotions; World Championship Wrestling and Eastern Championship Wrestling team-up for a special one night only event as ECW faces off with WCW for a Showdown in Charlotte! Ric Flair seems at a loss for words, but is about to talk anyway when Eric cuts him off telling him the best part of all of this will be the Main Event! Because WCW graciously allowed it to be an ECW Title match! And in it, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will go one on one with a man hand-picked by Bischoff, Magnum; and Dillon to settle this Flair problem once and for all. And the man they settled on was someone who was chomping at the bit to take "The Nature Boy" down a peg! A man Flair knows very well! And that man is..."The Enforcer" Arn Anderson! AA comes out of the back with Tully Blanchard and Scott Taylor in tow. Flair is irate and he's screaming at everyone within earshot! "The Enforcer" seems pretty pleased by this as Eric asks him how he feels about his upcoming match at the PPV. Arn gets on the microphone and tells Flair that he's disrespected this company and his Title for too long. And that what he did in the ring last week with Tully was the last straw, because in just two weeks in Charlotte, North Carolina Arn Anderson is going to walk into the Independence Arena, beat the living hell out of "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair; and bring the ECW Title back where it belongs; to a true ECW Champion. He guaran-damn-tees it! Flair goes apeshit as ECW goes to...Back from break Okerlund and Poffo recap the huge announcement that ECW will be joining forces with WCW on September 9th for a joint PPV! Held at the Independence Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina; the event ECW/WCW Showdown in Charlotte will feature ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair facing "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson in the Main Event! The two young men get some good back and forth action going early on; but Porteau impressively takes control of the match and gets the win after hitting Harris with a slingshot suplex. After the match we're brought before the ECW Banner where ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is talking to the new Light Heavyweight Champion Dean Malenko and his manager David Prazak who does most of the talking. He tells Terri that "The Lone Wolf" is a born Champion and it was only a matter of time before he won gold here in ECW. He says that his client is sure to hold the belt for a long time and will not be content holding only one Title; that Malenko is just as capable of holding the Eastern States and World Titles!We're shown a replay of Destruction Inc. defeating the Ubermensch two weeks ago on ECW Weekend Warriors! Tonight's match is to determine which team will be the next to get a shot at the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer. The Tag Champs come out to the broadcast booth to watch them match with Beulah McGillicutty who Lanny says is more than welcome to sit on his lap.Tag-Team # 1 Contender Match: The Ubermensch vs. Destruction Inc.Referee: S.D. Jones The cocky Aryan von Raschke seems like he has something to prove as he insists upon starting the match. He gets a pretty good working over from Mongo Vyle, then Rhino who hits him with the Gore striking spear in the corner; and then "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle who nails him with the Mongo Masher sitout full nelson atomic drop for another two count. Dreamer and Rhodes warn not to count Aryan out, that he's as vicious a competitor as they come; and he proves this as he rakes the eyes of Rhino before climbing up the turnbuckle and laying him out with a Tornado DDT! He hooks the leg! 1!... 2!
Rhino powers out! Aryan keeps on top of him, clobbering Rhino and runs his head into the top turnbuckle. He dominates "The Man-Beast" for a bit, but Rhino escapes with an atomic drop and whips Aryan so hard into the corner that he flips up and over it Flair style! Rhino makes the tag to Mongo and the big man charges in only to catch a missile dropkick from Aryan! Okerlund and Poffo talk about how both these teams are former Tag Champs here in ECW as Vyle kicks out at two. Von Raschke tries to keep on top of him, but the much bigger Vyle battles out and batters Aryan about the ring and flattens him with a Samoan Drop! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!..
Aryan is pulled out of the ring by the Baron! Jones is busy arguing with the elder Von Raschke now and The Blitzkrieg ents the ring and knocks Mongo's head off with a clothesline! He then drops to his knees and begins choking "The Mauler" out! He throws him aside and heads back to their corner while Aryan rolls in and goes for the pin! 1!... 2!
Mongo powers out! Aryan makes the tag to The Blitzkrieg! In comes "Mangler's Monster" who manhandles Vyle for a bit before Rhino charges in! Destruction Inc. double team The Blitzkrieg for a bit before whipping him into the ropes and nail the big man with the Utter Destruction flapjack/cutter combo! Vyle hooks the leg! 1!... 2!
The Blitzkrieg throws Vyle off of him! And he gets back up to one knee as Mongo begins hammering on him! Blitzkrieg no-sells this offense and shooting out his arm wraps his arm around Vyle's throat! He hoists him up into the air and hits the Telegraph from Berling chokeslam! He hooks the leg! 1!... 2!... 3! The Ubermensch are once again the # 1 Contenders for the Tag-Team Championships!Match: Rob Van Dam vs. Buck ZumhoffReferee: Danny Davis "Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff gets a good pop from his fans as does "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam who comes to the ring with his manager David Prazak. Rob Van Dam hits the 5-Star Frog Splash to end this one.Match: Randy Savage vs. Erin O'GradyReferee: S.D. Jones "The Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady tosses his gold coins to the crowd before the match and waits for the new Eastern States Champion to emerge from the back. "Macho Man" Randy Savage is decked out his one of his signature hats and jackets and has the Title about his waist as he heads to the ring with "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs! The match gets under way and thought Savage treats O'Grady as a bit of a joke in the ring, to his credit Erin takes the fight right to Savage and gets in a nice bit of offense. It isn't enough however and Randy Savage hits him with the Piledriver for the win. He celebrates in the ring when..."Another One Bites the Dust" hits?! And out from the back comes the Junkyard Dog! We haven't seen him since Savage beat him for the Eastern States Title two weeks ago. He has a bandage on his head and Randy is ready for a fight! JYD with a microphone in hand however tells "Macho Man" to calm down. He says that he's been in this business a long time. He's had his ups and his downs. And his time here in ECW with Dickie Murdoch has been some of the best in his career. Winning the Eastern States Championship was a dream come true. But two weeks ago, when Savage put him down with that Piledriver. When he lay in a pool of his own blood. Well? Junkyard realized this Dog has had his day. He's had a good run and it's over. And he just wanted to come down here and tell "Macho Man" to his face that the better man won. He then turns to leave, but...
"Macho Man grabs him by the shoulder and spins Junkyard about! The Dog is surprised, but only is shocked further when Randy takes him by the hand and raises it! The fans cheer this and Okerlund appreciates the turn of sportsmanship by Savage. Lanny however doesn't trust it one bit. He says Randy reminds him of his older brother who used to help him up and then throw him back on the floor when their parents weren't looking.Match: Doug Gilbert w/ Cousin Jamie vs. Hernandez w/ HomicideReferee: Danny Davis "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert uses his years of in-ring experience and a little assist from Cousin Jamie to keep the larger Shawn Hernandez on his toes as they fight back and forther, with Gilbert getting a two count off the Hot Shot flapjack dropped int a hangman. Midway through the match Jamie attempts to interfere again, but this time Homicide is more than happy to keep him occupied and he chases him about the ring. Meanwhile on the inside Hernandez who's dropped Doug with a front powerslam climbs out onto the apron and waiting for Doug Gilbert to get to his feet; uses the top rope to catapult himself into the ring and knocks "The Rebel" out cold with a flying clothesline for the win.After the match we're taken to a set where the Honky Tonk Man welcomes us to the first ever segment of The Heartbreak Hotel! He then introduces his first guest; a newcomer to Eastern Championship; "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase!He welcomes DiBiase to the show and makes a joke about borrowing some money, to which Ted gives his signature laugh. They then talk about MDM's jump from WWF to ECW; and DiBiase say a good manager goes where the talent is. And that nothing good ever came out of Greenwich, Connecticut. Honky says that everyone is talking about the fact DiBiase is here and just wondering whom he is going to manage. But HTM knows who it is. The greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time of course! But Teddy? You can't afford me.
DiBiase says he's sad to hear that, but he actually has come to a decision and has already signed three HUGE names from outside the company. Three of them in fact. Names and talent so big, only the Million Dollar Man could get them together. And we'll be hearing from one of them right here next week!Tag-Team Match: Tommy Dreamer & Dustin Rhodes vs. Sex & ViolenceReferee: S.D. Jones "Gorgeous" Michele Starr brings his Women's Championship to the ring as he comes down the ramp with Joe E. Legend. Okerlund and Poffo talk a bit about the rivalry of these two teams which started not too long ago when Tommy Dreamer took offense to Starr putting his hands on Beulah McGillicutty. Lanny calls Dreamer a baby and says that Starr is the Women's Champ. If she wants to cry about facing the Champ she doesn't belong in this business. She accompanies the Tag-Team Champs to the ring.
Tommy Dreamer gets in first and wants Starr, but gets Joe E. Legend instead. Legend is more than a match for "The Innovator of Violence" and manhandles him here and there; almost putting him down with a sitout Chokebomb. Dreamer kicks out however and recovers, taking the fight to Joe E. whom he hits with an inverted Crucifix cutter for a two count. Getting too close to S&V's corner however, Dreamer gets back raked by Starr! Pissed, Tommy begins arguing with him and ends up slapping the Women's Champ! This proves to be a mistake however as a recovered Joe E. Legend hits him with a shoulder block from behind, knocking him into the ropes where Michele Starr grabs him by the head and hits a hairpull hangman! Dreamer bounces backward, hitting the mat while Joe E. Legend climbs up top!
But Dustin Rhodes puts a stop to whatever he has planned as he knocks Joe off balance and the big man crotches himself! Tommy makes the tag to Dustin and the two men climb up on the second rope and double suplex Legend off the top! "The American Nightmare" makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Michele Starr has entered the ring and begins stomping him out! But into the ring comes Beulah and she nails "The Gorgeous One" with a lariat takedown! On the floor she begins clawing at him and pulling his hair while Jones her away. Doesn't is now back up, but Legend is too and kicking the Tag-Champ in the gut, he hoists him up onto his shoulder and flattens him with an Electric Chair facebuster! He makes the cover! But Dustin gets his shoulder up at two!
Starr now wants in and dragging Rhodes into their corner, Joe tags him in! They then set Rhodes up for the Finger-Cuff! But Dreamer is there to make the save and the two teams brawl about the ring! This gives Rhodes a chance to tag in Tommy while the ref sends Legend back to his corner. Michele Starr wants no part of Dreamer and begs him off, but "The Innovator" isn't having it and beats the hell out of Starr! He hits him with the Fireman's Carry Slam and picks up the win. The Tag Champs celebrate with Beulah as ECW goes to...Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the night. They then hype tonight's huge Main Event which will see "Ravishing" Rick Rude face off against a man he has a long history with here in ECW; "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango! They begin with the start of their feud during the summer of 1994 when Shango beat Rude for a shot to face Randy Savage for the ECW Title. Rude was instrumental in "The Soul Stealer's" loss at his match that followed at Hotter Than Hell. After vanishing from ECW for over a year, Shango finally returned Halloween night 1995 attacking then ECW Champion Rick Rude; whom he went on to defeat for the Title at Wrestle Annual II. Rude won the belt back at King of the Mountain '96; but their history has never been forgotten. And recently Shango has been looking to eliminate "The Ravishing One" as he wreaks a path of destruction to regain the Eastern Heavyweight Championship!
Gertner: The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Robbinsdale, Minnesota weighing 251 lbs.; he is "Ravishing" Rick Rude!Rude's strip theme hits as he swaggers down to the ring before giving the ladies a show. He says he got all excited when he heard he was going to be wrestling in the Beaver State tonight; but of course "The Genius" had to ruin his fun and tell him the place was filled with old Badgers. Still, he sees some potential in the ladies out their in the audience tonight and wants to know which one of them wants to remove his...
Voodoo drums begin to pound and mist fills the arena as the lights go out. And on the ramp appears "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango! He lets out a chilling war cry!
Gertner: And introducing his opponent this evening weighing 270 lbs. from the Bowels of Hell; he is "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango!Main Event: Rick Rude vs. Papa ShangoReferee: Danny Davis Papa Shango gives some voodoo theatrics in the ring which Rick Rude laughs at. "The Soul Stealer" keeps it up however until Rude isn't paying full attention and charges him! Seeing it at the last second Rick ducks it and kicks him in the gut before whipping him into the ropes setting him up for a huge back body drop! And as Shango stumbles up to his feet, he clotheslines him over the top rope and out of the ring! He gives a little swing of the hips for the ladies before following him outside.
Shango however has recovered and grabbing Rude by the head slams him face first into the apron! He follows him about the ring, hammering the "Ravishing" head into the apron and the steel barricade before suplexing him out on the floor! Rick seems to have hurt his knee now as Papa helps him to his feet and throws him back into the ring! He climbs up top while Rude stumbles up to his feet and lets Rick have it with a very theatrical missile dropkick! And he makes the cover! 1! 2!
Rude kicks out! Helping Rick up to his feet, he hits a front powerslam and lets out a shrill cry before locking in the Anaconda Vice! Rick screams in pain and Shango locks in the hold! But reaching up Rick rakes his opponent's eyes to escape the hold! Rude tries to catch a breather as he stumbles about the ring. But Papa isn't letting up and grabbing Rick by the head returns the favor! He then grabs "The Ravishing One" and whips him hard into the corner! Shango hammers his opponent a bit before whipping him into the opposing corner again! But when he goes to the well once to often, Rude blocks it sending Shango into the corner instead! He then hoists the witch doctor off of his feet and sets him up in the tree of woe! And he begins kicking the hell out of him!
Davis doesn't like this however and pulls Rude away. Papa Shango falls to the mat and as he crawls to his feet, Rick Rude rushes in with a shoulder tackle! But "The Soul Stealer" steps aside and lets his opponent crash shoulder first into the steel ringpost! And Rude is now in pain and he writhes about on the mat. Shango is slow to get up, but when he does he climbs the turnbuckle again while on the mat Rude does his best to get to his feet. And as Rick stumbles up he gets hits by a diving clothesline! Papa goes for the pin! But only comes away with a two! Shango goes back up top.
But this time Rick is up first and begins hammering on "The Soul Stealer" whom he then throws off the top to the mat below! Shango bounces up to his feet and receives a hard right from Rude who drives him into the corner where he begins beating the hell out of him! (this may take a while) He hits him a dozen times before pulling Shango from the corner, but Papa counters with a kick to the gut and clubs Rude over the head! He then whips Rick into the ropes and goes for a clothesline! But "The Ravishing One" ducks it and connects with a mule kick before hitting him Shango with a Piledriver! This could be it! 1!... 2!....
Shango gets his shoulder up! Rude is back up and he locks "The Soul Stealer" in the Camel Cutch! He works over his opponent's neck as Shango tries to fight his way up to all four; but Rude jumps on him to drive him back down to the mat! He does this several times before flexing for the crowd, brushing his elbow off; and hits an elbow drop! He then begins working Shango's neck over again. But beneath him Papa begins "summoning the spirits!" Rude seems to know what's up, but is unable to stop Shango from fighting his way out from under him!
And Shango is back up! And he's pounding away on Rude! Meanwhile on the outside, The Dark Circle has appeared distracting Davis while Shango throws Rude back into the ropes and hits him with a face full of Voodoo Mist! He then bodyslams "The Ravishing One" down to the floor! Rick Rude is clutching at his face as Papa Shango hoists him up to his feet and hits the Voodoo inverted shoulderBreaker! And he makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
3! Papa Shango has done it! He's defeated "The Ravishing One!" He celebrates inside and outside of the ring as he goes into some more voodoo theatrics before leading the Dark Circle up the ramp when...
Inside the ring Rick Rude who's trying to rub the mist from his eyes gets back up! He's standing in the ring and he's yelling at Shango! Papa Shango cackles with glee as he orders the Dark Circle to attack! Mongo Vyle hits the ring first and gets dropped by a hard right from "Ravishing" followd by Rhino! But when Matt Borne and Pogo the Clown and Barry Windham and Brimstone and Luna Vachon hit the ring he's overpowered by sheer numbers! Rude is getting beatdown pretty bad when through the audience come...The WCW Champion Curt Hennig?! And he has Scott Norton and Marcus Bagwell with him! The three men slide in and begin brawling with the Dark Circle! Norton quickl clotheslines Rhino out to the floor and he is soon joined by Mongo Vyle who gets double-teamed by Hennig and Bagwell! Rick Rude is back up now and he sees Scott Norton nail Pogo the Clown with a big boot sending him out of the ring! Brimstone and Barry Windham get out of Dodge, regrouping with Shango who remained out on the ramp while on the inside Matt Borne gets hit hard with the Perfect-Plex! He then turns toward Rude and the two men shake hands as the...

8/24/96 - Viking Hall Philadelphia, PABuck Zumhoff and the Honky Tonk Man thank us for joining the original Rock 'N Roll broadcasting team for another exciting edition of ECW Weekend Warriors, tonight coming to you live from Viking Hall in Phildelphia, Pennsylvania! They then run down tonight's show telling us that the ECW Light Heavyweight Champion Dean Malenko will be in action, the Circus of Doom will face off against the Wiseguys; and in the Main Event Sir William Regal will face on half of the Tag-Team Champions when he goes one on one with "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer!
All matches announced by Joel Gertner and officiated by Danny Davis.Match: Jacqueline Moore vs. Debbie Combs\ "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs may not have "Macho Man" Randy Savage out here with her tonigt, but she is borrowing his moveset as she nails Jacqueline Moore with the running high knee and a hairpull hangman. She gives "Miss Texas" a good fight; but in the end Jacqueline Moore forces Debbie to tap using a guillotine choke with body scissors. After the match she celebrates with "Too Cool" Brian Christopher. We're then taken in front of the ECW Banner were Correspondent Terri Runnels is joined by Jacqueline Moore and Brian Christopher. Jackie talks about the current Women's Champ "Gorgeous" Michele Starr; a true "woman" if there is one while Brian rattles off on Dean Malenko and his loss of the Title to him two weeks ago. He gets a bit overexcited as he talks down that "honky" Malenko and Jackie has to calm him down as she says one day very soon her and her man will be wearing the gold here in ECW once again.Match: Dean Malenko vs. Battle Kat The masked Battle Kat gives "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko a fight here, hitting him with a superkick, a Frankensteiner; and a moonsault for multiple pin attempts. Dean Malenko however gives as good as he gets and takes control of the match, focusing his attacks on the legs of the masked man before locking in the Texas Cloverleaf to earn himself a victory by Submission. After the match his manager David Prazak who remained at ringside; raises his client's hand in victory.

Finally we see Curt Hennig nail Matt Borne with the Perfect-Plex?! The ECW Wednesday Nights logo then appears. ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is in front of the ECW Banner with "Ravishing" Rick Rude! He's here to talk about "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango. An adequate name considering the voodoo thief cheats to win so many of his matches. Well he has news for Shango. He may've heard about a little event announced last week called Showdown in Charlotte. Well if the "The Soul Stealer" was watching closely this past Wednesday Rude got himself an ally in the form of WCW Champion Curt Hennig! A grinning Curt Hennig then steps into the frame! Rude says that now with the perfect partner he wants a match against Shango at Showdown. It'll be him, Hennig; and a few of the boys against "The Soul Stealer's" little crew!Match: The Circus of Doom vs. The Wiseguys Jimmy Cicero & Guido FalconeThough Jimmy Cicero and Guido Falcone give him a tough time here and there; "The Ring Master" Matt Borne is mostly in control of this one trapping Cicero in the Stump Puller single leg Boston Crab and hitting Guido with the Whoopie Cushion seated senton. His luck runs out when the Wiseguys manage to hit him with the Fuhgeddaboudit! Borne kicks free before the three, but finds himself cut off from his corner as he scrambles to make the tag. Eventually however, he fights his way free and tags Pogo the Clown in by slapping him in the face!
Pogo comes in all charged up and takes the Wiseguys down with a double powerslam! He laughs maniacally as he beats the duo about the ring, nailing Guido with another clothesline that drops him over the top rope before turning on Jimmy Cicero, who puts up a short fight before Pogo the Clown Buries Him in the Basement! And making the cover, he gets the win. Luna Vachon enters and pushes Davis away before raising her guys' hands in victory.After the match we're taken back stage for Buck Zumhoff's "Rock 'N Rolling" segment where he invites us to party with the entrance music fo Tag-Team Champions Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes with Alice in Chains' "Man in the Box!"Alice In Chains - Man In The BoxZumhoff and HTM welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's big main event in which former Eastern States Champion William Regal will face off against the current Tag-Team Champ; "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer!

While Dreamer comes out with Beulah and shows off the Tag-Team Title, Honky brings up Regal's past relationship with McGillicutty last year and wonders if that will have any bearing on tonight's match. Zumhoff tells him that Regal only helped train Beulah; but HTM says he wouldn't mind "training" her himself. He gets no argument from Buck there.
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent tonight hailing from Blackpool, England weighing in at 243 lbs.; he is Sir William Regal!Match: William Regal vs. Tommy Dreamer w/ Beulah McGillicutty From the bell Tommy Dreamer is looking for a brawl, not that William Regal has a problem with this and the two men beat the hell out of one another. Eventualy hammering Dreamer into the corner, Regal whips him across the ring into the corner and as his opponent stumbles out, he throws him with a suplex! Tommy pops right back up and misses a clothesline as William ducks under, takes him down with a drop toe hold and locks in the Regal Stretch arm tapped cross-legged STF! And "The Innovator" is in trouble! He grits his teeth however and manages to fight his way toward the ropes! Davis breaks them up and Dreamer uses the ropes to pull himself up when in charges Regal who gets thrown from the ring with a big back body drop from Tommy!
William hits the floor hard as Dreamer climbs out onto the apron and leaping off plants the recovering Regal with a legdrop! And back up, he pulls Regal to his feet and introduces his face to the steel barrier! He does it again, but on the third attempts he's stopped by Beulah! McGillicutty seems to be asking him to stop?! But this gives Regal the chance to escape with a back elbow and grabbing Tommy by the arm he whips him into the steel steps! He thanks Beulah before heading over to Dreamer and rolls him back into the ring.
And climbing back inside, William sets Dreamer up for a powerbomb! But Tommy catches himself on Regal's shoulders and begins pounding his head in! Regal drops back with "The Innovator" sitting on his face and grabbing his legs, Tommy makes the cover! 1! 2! Regal kicks out! Dreamer catches Regal in a headlock, which he struggles with for a bit until he pushes Tommy forward into the ropes and hits him with another suplex on the rebound! And he hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
Tommy kicks out! Regal begins hammering on his opponent as he pulls him up to his feet and goes for the Regal-Plex! But Dreamer blocks it and nails William with a headbutt! He then hoists him up onto his shoulders for a fireman's carry slam! But Regal grabs the rope blocking it and pulling himself down connects with a European uppercut! This staggers Dreamer and William Regal grabs him, pops his hips; and nails the Regal-Plex bridging leg hook belly to back suplex! 1!... 2!...
3! William Regal has defeated one half of the Tag-Team Champions! Buck says that all Regal needs now is a partner to challenge for the belt and HTM suggests the tandem of Rhythm and Blue Bloods.

8/28/96 - Jack Breslin Student Events Center East Lansing, MI"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing, Michigan for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! Before hyping tonight's huge card, they briefly recap last week's show! They focus mainly on the announcement of the huge joint Pay Per-View Event between ECW and WCW; Showdown in Chatlotte! They talk about the huge show coming to the Independence Arena on September 9th where ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair will face off against his longtime friend and fellow Four Horsemen member "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson! They say they've heard rumblings other matches have been signed and are sure we'll hear more about them later tonight!
They also talk about the Baron's Ubermensch defeating Destruction Inc. to become the # 1 Contender's for the ECW Tag-Team Titles, Junkyard Dog retiring and shaking hands with new Eastern States Champ "Macho Man" Randy Savage, "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase announcing he has signed three big names one of which will be revealed tonight; and the amazing Main Event which saw "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango defeat longtime rival "Ravishing" Rick Rude! And if that wasn't shocking enough when after the match the villainous cabal of the Dark Circle attacked him; he was saved by longtime friend and current WCW Champion "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig; along with his allies in WCW Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell!

The duo is having themselves a good laugh as Hennig rolls to the floor and finds Ric’s original tag team partner. Rude is hold Flair in place, and here comes Hennig!ARN ANDERSON HITS THE RING!He jerks the chair out of the hands of Hennig, who looks ready to fight the Enforcer. Arn says something to Rude, who nods, Anderson nods back but eyeballs the shit out of Hennig. Rude and Curt make their exit, and Arn turns to Ric. Tony says he’d give his pinky toe to be able to read lips at this point. Flair points at Arn and seems pissed off, which blows Arn’s mind. Now these two former best friends are in each other’s face screaming away! FLAIR SWINGS! Arn catches it! He spins Flair around SPINEBUSTER!!!! Arn walks across the ring and grabs the ECW Heavyweight Championship and holds it high.Inside the ring Arn Anderson thanks all the fans in Lansing, Michigan for being here tonight! He then tells us about his match coming up at Showdown in Charlotte. He says that throughout his career, there has been one constant. And love him or hate him, that's the current ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Now he's not going to come out here and rundown Ric Flair. He has a ton of respect for the man. He's the greatest wrestler he's ever seen. His record proves it. A 10 time NWA World Champion, a 2 time WCW Champion. And while they've definitely had their share of ups and downs over the year; he's one of the best friends "The Enforcer" has ever had. And through it all there was another constant; that "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson has always had Flair's back.
But back in late 1993 ol' AA decided to do something for himself for a change. He decided to strike out on his own, to step out of the sizeable shadow of Ric Flair; and become his own man. And that's why he made the tough decision to leave WCW behind for good and sign up with what was then a fledling promotion in Eastern Championship Wrestling! And he'd like to think he made the right choice. He's had what he considers some of the best matches of his career here. With "Macho Man" Randy Savage. With "Ravishing" Rick Rude. And throughout his time here Arn battled his way through the ranks and became the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time in his career. Which makes the Title and this promotion special to Arn. ECW is his home. This is his yard.
And last December while dealing with the Omega Horsemen, he invited Ric Flair to help him and their boys Barry Windham and Tully Blanchard out. And it was great stepping into the ring with those guys again. When Flair stayed? Arn had his doubts. Because while he loves the man, the undeniable through is that in Ric Flair's world, only one man truly matters. And that is "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. But he gave it a shot. Stuck by his friend. And he was genuinely proud of the man when he won the Eastern Heavyweight Championship; even if he might not agree with the way he won. But since winning the Title, more and more Ric Flair has been acting like... well, Ric Flair. And while Arn Anderson once followed him blindly; while AA was away from WCW something happened. Something changed. Arn Anderson grew up. He became his own man. And that man didn't want to be like Ric Flair. He wanted to be "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson. The man his daddy raised him to be. And that man doesn't beat steal Titles, he doesn't beat down young up and comers, he doesn't align himself with madmen, he doesn't shrug off his responsibilities to his job and his family here at ECW; and he most certainly doesn't disrespect the ECW Heavyweight Championship. Because that's Arn Anderson's Title Flair is wearing. And when Flair disrespects it by not defending it, by wearing it at rival promotions, by using it as nothing more than an ornament; he isn't just disrespecting that Title. He's disrespecting "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson! Which is why on September 9th Arn Anderson is going to walk into the Independence Arena and leave everything in that ring, he'll beat Ric Flair within an inch of his life if he has to; and he will walk out of Showdown in Charlotte the Eastern Heavyweight Champion! Jones The Hughes Brothers bring the fight right to Steve Corino and Jason Venom as Devon Huges nails big Jason Venom with both the 360 degree corkscrew back elbow smash and a flying headbutt off the top and little Spike nailing the former ECW Champ withe the corner springboard cutter for a two count! "Mr. Wrestling" and Venom give as good as the get however; and Steve Corino puts an end to things with the Sliding C Special lariat on Spike for the win.After the match "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase appears with what he tells ECW Correspondent is the first of three huge announcements he'll be making in the coming weeks. Three announcements that prove what the MDM has allows said and that's everyone; everyone has a price! Hahah! And that's the introduction of his very first charge...A man in silohette delivers a promo telling us how he was sent far from here! And that he's been sent here for one reason! To attack and keep coming! Not to ask, but just to give! Not to want, but just to send! Send the power of the Warrior down the throats of everybody in ECW until they become sick of it! Well you're gonna get sick of it because this freak of nature right here is just beginning to swell! And when I get big enough brother there ain't gonna be room for anybody else but me and all the Warriors floating through the veins of the power of the Warrior!Back from break we're taken to a promo by Sir William Regal. He tells us that he heard the announcement of his match at Showdown in Charlotte last week and the fans' reaction to it. And he can tell them right here and now, that he doesn't think being put in this Loser Trades Promotion match means he's expendable. On the contrary, he thinks it's an honor, because ECW President Eric Bischoff trusts him with the opportunity to walk into the Independence Arena and take the fight right to that traitorous "Long Island Loud-Mouth" and promises he will not let the fans here at ECW down. Because on September 9th he promises to shut Chris Jericho up once and for all. Cheerio.Match: William Regal vs. Prince Nana Osei BandohReferee: Danny Davis Prince Nana Osei Bandoh gets some offense in here, but much of the match is dominated by Sir William Regal who puts his opponent away with the Regal-Plex bridging leg hook belly to back suplex.Match: Douglas Williams vs. Yoshihiro TajiriReferee: S.D. Jones "The U. K. Kidd" Douglas Williams fairs well early on against "The Japanese Buzzsaw" Yoshihiro Tajiri, hitting him with the Bombs Away diving knee and gets a two count when he surprises "The Buzzsaw" with the Chaos Theory waist-lock backward roll transitioned into a bridging German Suplex! As impressive as he looks, when Williams gets locked into the illegal Tarantula hold by Tajiri, it slows the young grappler down considerably. From there Yoshihiro Tajiri dominates Douglas Williams before finishing him off with the Octopus Stretch for the Submission victory. "Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the commercial break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Roberts Municipal Stadium in Evansville, Indiana! While tickets for that show are sold out, those folks at home should tune in right here on Eastern Championship's home station to catch all the exciting ECW action live! They've just gotten word that as a special treat for the fans; next week's show will feature two ECW/WCW preview matches which will be announced on Weekend Warriors this coming Saturday where the ECW Light Heavyweight Champion "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko will be in action right here on TNN The Nashville Network!Match: Tully Blanchard vs. Matt HardyReferee: Danny Davis Okerlund makes mention that Matt Hardy's brother Jeff is not at ringside tonight; and Lanny supposes that he's probably fleeing the state after hearing he's set to face "Macho Man" in the main event. Hardy locks it up with Tully Blanchard and does his best; though it isn't good enough and Tully Blanchard gets the win via a slingshot suplex.
After the match Tully Blanchard gets on the microphone from Joel Gertner. He tells us that as we all might have heard seven hundred times by now, ECW and WCW will be battling it out at a little event called Showdown in Charlotte. And that two of his best friends "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will be facing one another for the ECW Championship in the main event! Now he's proud of both men's accomplishments in this sport and though he doesn't agree with everything "Naitch" has done of late, he has already told Arn he won't be appearing in his corner that night. He's too close to the situation and doesn't want to be involved. However...
That leaves Tully Blanchard free September 9th. And to that end he'd like to issue a challenge. A challenge to a man who currently holds a belt Tully Blanchard knows something about; the WCW Television Title! No disrespect to Diamond Dallas Page, he thinks he's a great Champ. But if he's game, he's challenging DDP to face the greatest Television Champ of all time at Showdown in Charlotte! No Titles on the line. Just two men beating the hell out of one another. The Baron Von Raschke is with Aryan and The Blitzkrieg as he brags to ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels how once again his men proved that the people of the Republic of Germany can wipe the floor with big, dumb Americans like Destruction Inc.! He goes on to tell us that now that they've earned another shot at the Tag-Team Titles, they can correct the grave injustice perpetrated on them several weeks ago and restore glory and prestige once more to the Republic of Germany!Match: Tommy Dreamer w/ Dustin Rhodes vs. Homicide w/ HernandezReferee: S.D. Jones "The Innovator of Violence" comes down to the ring with Dustin Rhodes and Beulah McGillicutty where the Tag-Team Champs pose with their Titles before "Insane in the Brain" by Cypress Hill hits! Homicide comes out smoking something while big Hernandez follows him out. The match gets underway with Homicide and Tommy Dreamer brawling about the ring, out to the floor; and back into the ring again! Midway through the match Dreamer ends up getting pulverized by both Homicide and Hernandez when he finds himself outside the ring in their corner! Luckily Dustin Rhodes is right there to lend a hand and begins slugging it out with the much larger Hernandez. Several pin attempts are made during the course of the match, but it's a DDT from Tommy Dreamer that puts Homicide down for the three count. After the match Dreamer and Rhodes share a drink from Dustin's flask on the way up the ramp.Back from the break we're brought backstage where "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam and "The Lone Wolf" David Prazak are with their manager David Prazak. Malenko is proudly displaying the Light Heavyweight Title on his shoulder. Prazak is praising Malenko, telling both men he's looking into signing matches for them at Showdown in Charlotte to boost their profiles when they're approached by..."Ravishing" Rick Rude! He tells RVD and Malenko that he knows they've had their share of problems with the Dark Circle, particularly Destruction Inc.; and wants them to team with him against the group at Showdown in Charlotte! He says that the match has been signed and that Hennig, Bagwell; and Norton are already down. But that they need two more partners. Malenko tells Rude he's done teaming up with anybody shooting Rob an annoyed glance. RVD however is gung-ho about signing up dude. And says he looks forward to getting some payback on them. Just then the camera pans over and we see...Ron Simmons?! He's moving into his locker. Rude approaches him and welcomes Simmons to ECW. He wants to know if Ron will sign up with them for the PPV match! Simmons tells Rick he'll think about it.Match: Steve Blackman w/ Captain Lou Albano vs. Jason KnightReferee: Danny Davis Jason Knight gets some offense in here, but "The Silent Assassin" Steve Blackman dominates him mostly; before putting him away with a bridged Fisherman's Suplex! Albano is very pleased with this.After the match we're brought to a promo by Eastern States Champion "Macho Man" Randy Savage! Ooooh Yeah! He's got Debbie Combs with him while he brags about putting the Dog to sleep! Dig it! "Macho Man" plans on being the greatest Eastern States Champion in this promotion's history. Yeah. Already being the greatest Eastern Heavyweight Champion of all time is not enough. Ooooh no! And he realizes that Sir William Regal has a rematch coming away, but Savage is gonna pulverize him! Yeah! Take him out and send him packing back to Blackpool! But first he's got a score to settle! So Regal is gonna have to wait! Cause no one and nothing is gonna get in the way of the "Macho Man" wrapping his hands round the neck of Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat at Showdown in Charlotte! Ooooh Yeah!Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the break before clarifying that at Showdown in Charlotte the "Macho Man" Randy Savage will be facing Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat in a rematch for the ages, their history going all the way back to Wrestlemania III when Steamboat defeated Savage. A match almost ten years in the making which will take place on September 9th at the Independence Arena, where we've just received word that tickets have sold out for the ECW side of the arena. Those fans not in the area or unable to obtain a ticket should be sure to order the PPV for $24.99 by calling your local cable provider the night of the show. They then hype tonight's main event which will see Randy Savage in non-Title action against young high flyer Jeff Hardy, who is a former Light Heavyweight Champion in his own right. "Come Out and Play" by The Offspring then hits and Jeff Hardy appears on the ramp!

Hardy runs down to the ring and poses for the fans! "Pomp and Circumstance" then hits! And out from the back explodes...
Gertner: And introducing his opponent this evening accompanied to the ring by "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs; from Sarasota, Flordia weighing 237 lbs.; he is the Eastern States Champion "Macho Man" Randy Savage!Match: Randy Savage vs. Jeff HardyReferee: S.D. Jones The bell rings and things look bac for Jeff Hardy from the outset as Randy Savage pounces on him and begins pummeling him with hard right and clubbing forearms as he is driven back into the ropes! But Jeff manages to grab "Macho Man" by the head and hits him with a sitout jawbreaker out of nowhere! Savage doesn't go down, but instead staggers back dazed as Jeff pops up to his feet and nails Savage with a dropkick! Randy hits the mat! And Jeff makes the cover!
But Randy throws him off of him! Jeff comes right back throwing punches! But Randy fires back! He hammers Hardy into the corner and whips him hard across the ring before charging in with a running high knee! He then mounts the second rope and begins raining down the punches! 1! 2! 3! 4! 5! 6! 7! 8! 9! 10! He hops down, fixes his tights; and shows off for the fans while Jeff staggers from the corner and does the Flair face plant!
Randy helps Hardy up to his feet and throws a couple knees before running the young grappler head first into the corner turnbuckle! He hits him into it again! And again! But the fourth time Jeff blocks it! And he battles out with several elbows before running the ropes and hitting a flying crossbody! But Savage catches him in midair and hits him with a backbreaker over his knee before making the cover! 1!... 2!...
Jeff kicks out! Randy seems surprised, but getting to his feet stomps Hardy a bit before hitting an elbow drop and covering him again! 1!... 2!...
Jeff gets his shoulder up! Randy grabs him by both shoulders and slams him repeatedly into the mat before making another pin attempt! 1!... 2!...
Jeff kicks out! Savage pulls Hardy up to his feet and hits a very delayed vertical suplex! 1!... 2!...
Jeff kicks out again! Randy seems annoyed now and helping the young man to his feet sets him up for an atomic drop! He then runs Hardy across the ring and hurls him over the top rope! Randy raises his arms in victory as the crowd cheers him! But Jeff caught the top rope and only landed out on the apron! He heads to the corner and climbs up top! And as Randy turns to see why the fans seem to have stopped cheering him, he walks right into a missile dropkick! And Jeff makes the cover! 1!
Randy powers out! Savage sits up now looking dazed as Jeff lets him have it with a standing dropkick! Savage is down as Jeff heads up top again! Swanton Bomb! Swanton Bomb! But Randy Savage is back up on one knee after rolling away and Hardy hits the canvas hard with nobody home! And as Jeff bounces off the mat, Randy Savage is right there waiting to scoop him up and flatten his head with a Piledriver! But he isn't done and heading up top himself, "Macho Man" signals for the Savage Elbow Smash! And it connects! He hooks the leg! And it's over! Combs comes into the ring and celebrates with "Macho" as she hands him the belt!
Jeff meanwhile is struggling on the floor, when "Macho Man" extends his hand to help him up! The fans cheer this show of sportsmanship, including Gene until Randy Savage kicks Jeff Hardy in the gut and hits him with a second Piledriver! Jeff isn't even moving as the...
