ROY WILKINS AUDITORIUM IN ST. PAUL, MN
BRAD RHEINGANS beats JACK FOLEY. Rheingans picks up the win, pinning Foley with a cradle suplex.
JACKIE FULTON beats BLACK BART. Bart, the rugged veteran, might be underestimating the youngster, as he toys with Fulton early, slapping him around, taunting him. Fulton responds by tearing into Bart with a flurry of lefts and rights that leave the big Texan stunned! Bart quickly recovers and jabs a thumb into Fulton’s eye, to take back control of the match. Bart pummels Fulton, but Jackie won’t stay down, no matter how bad a beating he takes, he keeps fighting back! In the end, Bart attempts a running clothesline, but Fulton ducks it, then connects with a crossbody block off the ropes for the 1, 2, 3! Fulton scores a big upset, and wisely bails out of the ring as Bart tries to attack him after the bell. As Fulton heads to the locker room, Bart throws a tantrum in the ring!
YOUNG LIONS CUP MATCH:
WILD PEGASUS defeats DAVID FINLAY. Neither man has any points in the tournament so far, so Pegasus picks up his first two points when he pins Finlay after a kneeling inverted piledriver.
JUMBO TSURUTA & GENICHIRO TENRYU & TOSHIAKI KAWADA (w/ Mr. Matsuda) defeat MIKE ROTUNDA & TOM ZENK & PHIL LAFLEUR. Matsuda made his first appearance with the Japanese trio earlier in the evening on Pro Wrestling USA, and he’s with them here, as they go over the trio of Rotunda and the Can-Am Express when Tenryu pins Rotunda with a Powerbomb.
SGT. SLAUGHTER & TERRY TAYLOR defeat “MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF & “COWBOY” BOB ORTON JR (w/ Jimmy Hart). This is a wild one, as the current Americas champion Slaughter and current TV champion Terry Taylor face the men they took those belts from, Orndorff and Orton. The animosity between these two teams has been building over the past few weeks on TV and it all reaches a boiling point here. After more than 20 minutes of hard-hitting, back and forth action, Slaughter and Taylor get the win when Taylor pins Orton after hitting him with the diving forearm smash off the ropes.
After the bout, Orton and Orndorff attack Slaughter and Taylor. Orton throws Taylor through the ropes, then runs him into the guardrail, knocking him down. At that point, Jimmy Hart starts motioning to the back . . . and we see a masked man leading THE UGANDAN WARRIOR KAMALA to the ring! Kamala enters the ring, and joins Paul Orndorff in double-teaming Sgt. Slaughter!
As Orton continues to pummel Taylor outside the ring, opening up a nasty cut on his forehead, Orndorff drops Slaughter with a Piledriver inside the ring! With Slaughter flat on his back on the mat, Kamala goes to the top rope . . . and delivers a splash!
At that point, the ring is swarmed by wrestlers and AWA officials, and they manage to get Jimmy Hart, Orton, Orndorff and Kamala to leave the ring, before checking on Taylor and Slaughter.
STAN HANSEN & BIG VAN VADER & BAM BAM BIGELOW battle STEVE “DR. DEATH” WILLIAMS & GARY ALBRIGHT & TERRY “BAM BAM” GORDY to a NO CONTEST. Fans in attendance are treated to a rare appearance from Bam Bam Bigelow and Terry Gordy from Power Pro Wrestling. This match is a wild one, and completely out of control right from the opening bell, as the wrestlers battle in, and outside, the ring. The match ends when all six men brawl in the ring, paying no attention whatsoever to the referee, and finally he has no choice but to throw the match out.
Afterwards, Steve Williams and Triple Crown champ Stan Hansen go nose to nose, but are quickly separated by their respective teams before anything further can happen.
