7/3/96 - FargoDome Fargo, ND"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the FargoDome in Fargo, North Dakota for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! Before hyping tonight's huge card, they recap briefly the events of last week's Memorial Show for Dick Murdoch focusing on the two Tournament Semi-Final matches to determine the # 1 contender for the Eastern States Championship with "The American Nightmare" Dustin Rhodes defeating "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam in a hotly contested battle with no small amount of outside interference by Destruction Inc. The other of course was last week's show stopper of a Main Event in which the Junkyard Dog teamed with "The American Dream" Dustin Rhodes to defeat the villainous tandem of "The Dark Prophet Brimstone" and "Blackjack" Barry Windham! All that and the ECW Light Heavyweight Championship returned to the Republic of Germany when Aryan von Raschke defeated "Too Cool" Brian Christopher to regain the Title!
Aryan von Raschke will be here in non-Title action tonight; but the big news will be the Tournament Final in which Junkyard Dog faces off against Dustin Rhodes to determine the # 1 Contender for the Eastern States Championship! Also on tonight's card # 1 Contender for the ECW Championship "Ravishing" Rick Rude will be in action as will the ECW Champion himself "Nature Boy" Ric Flair when he goes one on one against former ECW Light Heavyweight Champ Cousin Jamie in tonight's huge Main Event! Rick Rudes' strip theme hits and out from the back comes "The Ravishing One!"Match: Rick Rude vs. Tommy Dreamer w/ Beulah McGillicuttyReferee: Danny Davis "Ravishing" Rick Rude waits in the ring and seems more interested in Beulah McGillicutty than "The Innovator of Violence" as he comes down to the ring. Rude beckons her into the ring and blows her a kiss. This does not go unchecked by Tommy Dreamer however who decks Rude with a hard right driving him into the corner with a barrage of punches! He does well against Rude early on, catching "The Ravishing One" off his guard and ends up nailing him with a DDT. Rude however kicks out at two. Dreamer attempts to keep Rick down with a side headlock, but Rude rallies back and drops Tommy with a suplex! "Ravishing" then puts the boots to his opponent and works him over a bit before heading over to the corner where he gives Beulah a little show by shaking his hips for her! This proves to be a mistake as Tommy attacks him from behind, but even thought Dreamer gets some offense in including a sidewalk slam; Rick Rude owns most of the match and after hitting several power moves on "The Innovator" he takes him out with the Rude Awakening delayed hangman's neckbreaker!
After the win Rude gets on the microphone and gets in the face of McGillicutty who's still out on the apron, asking her why she's with a chump from the Brooklyn when she could have a real man like Rick Rude! She holds off and slaps him. Rick just smiles and exits the ring. Back from break "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone is in the boiler room of the FargoDome! He has "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango and the villanous cabal The Dark Circle with him as he waxes poetically about his loss to "The American Dream" and the Junkyard Dog last week. He says that it was the machinations and backstage politicing that prevented the devil from getting his due last week. And that Bischoff knows that if Brimstone got his cold, dead hand around The Dog one on one that match would not have just ended differently; but also ended JYD's career as he put him down for good! But that's quite alright, because no one can cheat the Reaper for long. And one day very soon, death will come a-calling for JYD!!Match: Brimstone vs. Yoshihiro TajiriReferee: S.D. Jones "The Japanese Buzzsaw" Yoshihiro Tajiri does well against "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone, using his superior speed and arial abilities to take the fight right to the former Eastern States Champion! He connects with a springboard moonsault on a standing Brimstone for two, gets another with a springboard hurrancanrana off the top rope, hits a flying crossbody out of he corner; andthe handspring back elbow. "The Dark Prophet" keeps powering out however and pummels Yoshihiro every chance he gets, getting a nearfall off a pump-handle slam despite outside interference from Mr. Fuji.
The match turns solidly in Brimstone's favor when while out on the apron he slingshots himself over the top rope and turns Tajiri inside out with a flying clothesline! 1!... 2!... "The Buzzsaw" just kicks out! He's in for a world of punishment however as Brimstone batters and throws him about the ring, trying for another cover with a powerslam! But Tajiri kicks out again! The big man can't believe it and as he pulls Yoshihiro Tajiri up to his feet, "The Japanese Buzzsaw" lets loose with a face full of Asian Mist! But Brimstone is unphased by it! He stares unblinking at the now wide-eyed Tajiri whom he grabs about the neck and flattens with a Chokeslam from Hell! Papa Shango who's been cheering him on from ringside then enters the ring and lets out a war cry while "The Prophet" once again gets his hand raised in victory.
He then reads a dark poem from his old book.Match: Scott Taylor vs. Chris HarrisReferee: Danny Davis Scott Taylor has both "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard in his corner as "Wildcat" Chris Harris makes his debut here at ECW. Harris shows some potential, hitting Taylor with a bulldog and later a spear that nearly gets him a two count. Scott Taylor however controls most of the match, hitting Harris with a teardrop suplex, a dropkick, and inverted atomic drop; before finally going up top and finishes his opponent off with the diving high-impact chop drop. Arn and Tully celebrate the win with him."Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the DakotaDome in Vermillion, South Dakota. They say that while tickets for that show are sold out, those folks left at home should tune in right here on ECW's home station of TNN The Nashville Network to catch all the action live! They tell us it's a show not to be missed as ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair will face off against "Ravishing" Rick Rude in the Main Event with the Eastern Heavyweight Championship on the line!
And while you're at it, they'd be remiss not to remind us not to watch ECW Weekend Warriors this Saturday also on TNN where Eastern States Champion William Regal will be in non-Title action! They then hype the next match on the card which will see the Final Round of the ongoing Tournament to determine the # 1 contender for William Regal's Title! They recap last week's matches with saw "The American Nightmare" Dustin Rhodes and the Junkyard Dog advance. Those two men will be in action next!Tournament Final Match: Dustin Rhodes vs. Junkyard DogReferee: S.D. Jones Dustin Rhodes is already inside the ring when "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen hits and out on the ramp appears the Junkyard Dog who's wearing Dick Murdoch's cowboy hat. He comes down to the ring and stands face to face with Dustin Rhodes who takes a swig from his flask before offering some to JYD. Junkyard is hesitant, but takes it and drinks some before handing it back. The match gets under way with Rhodes and The Dog sizing one another up; something "The Genius" says might take Dustin all day. Eventually they meet in the middle of the ring and grapple about for a bit, trading several holds with JYD battling out of an armwrench with an elbow to the back of "The Nightmare." From there Junkyard lays into Dustin and beats him back into the ropes where he goes for a whip and tries for a back body drop! JYD ducks too early however and Dustin drops to the mat and connects with an uppercut staggering The Dog! Getting up, he runs the ropes and hits a running bulldog before making the cover! 1!... 2!...
Junkyard kicks out! Dustin keeps right on top of his opponent with several kicks and punches before back Junkyard into the corner where he climbs up onto the second rope and starts raining down the punches! 1! 2! 3! 4! 5! 6! 7! 8! JYD scoops Dustin up in a big bear hug and running into the ring nails him with a spinebuster! The Dog makes a cover! 1!... 2!...
Dustin kicks free! JYD gets back up and puts the boots to Rhodes before hoisting him up to his feet and lets him have it with a massive headbutt! And as Dustin reels from the blow he hits him with an inverted atomic drop before whipping "The American Nightmare" into the ropes and takes him down with a big boot! Instead of making the cover, Junkyard mugs for the crowd letting out a victorious bark and points to the sky before running the ropes and hitting a legdrop! But Rhodes has rolled out of the way and JYD catches an assfull of canvas!
Dustin Rhodes is now back up and grabbing his opponent by the head drops him with a DDT and the cover! 1!... 2!....
JYD kicks out just before the 3! Rhodes keeps control of the match for a while, working JYD over. He hits The Dog with an atomic drop of his own, which he follows up with a clothesline and later a sidewalk slam. But both time JYD kicks out! Desperate to put Junkyard away, he locks in a sleeper hold and The Dog begins to fade! But when Jones attempts to grab his arm JYD begins to rally back! He begins fighting it and stumbles up to his feet, freeing himself with an elbow to the gut followed by another headbutt and the Thump! front powerslam! He hooks Dustin's leg! 1!... 2!...
Rhodes kicks out! JYD can't believe it and wastes too much time before hoisting Dustin to his feet and whips him across the ring... only to have "The American Nightmare" reverse it! And taking Junkyard down with a Lou Thesz press he begins hammering his opponent into the mat! The Dog looks to be in trouble when he grabs Dustin and bites him! And back on his feet the two men begin trading punches! They brawl about the ring trading the advantage until Dustin gets hammered with yet another headbutt! The Dog lets out a bark to rally up the fans as Dustin Rhodes falls back into the ropes. And picking him up off of his feet Junkyard Dog sets Dustin Rhodes up for the Brain Buster! And it connects! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
3! Junkyard Dog has won it! He'll be facing William Regal for the Eastern States Championship! Dustin Rhodes then gets back up and seems to be having a few tense words with Junkyard Dog before he raises his hand! Just then however the lights go out, voodoo drums begin to pound and mist fills the arena. On the ramp appears "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone! He isn't alone either! He has Barry Windham with him!The two men head down to the ring and begin brawling with Rhodes and JYD! And they take the duo down with a double dose of clotheslines! Brimstone and Windham don't look done either when suddenly from the back appear Tommy Dreamer and the Eastern States Champion William Regal who rush down to the ring! Not liking the four on two odds, Brimstone and Barry clear the ring while Regal, JYD; and the Tag-Team Champs stand united! As he backs up the ramp Brimstone stares coldly as Regal and pointing to him makes the cut throat motion. After the break Destruction Inc. cut a promo on "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko. They tell us that last week when he attacked Mongo Vyle and Rhino he signed his own death warrant and that his old lady may as well start scouting funeral homes right now. Because when "The Machiavellan Mauler" and "The Man-Beast" want his sorry ass in the ring right here next week. And if he's stupid enough to show; there's only gonna be one outcome. Malenko head on a pike!Match: Steve Blackman & B. Brian Blair vs. The Hughes BrothersReferee: Danny Davis Captain Lou Albano tries his luck by teaming his charge "The Silent Assassin" Steve Blackman with "THE Killer Bee" B. Brian Blair. We're told Blackman hasn't been on the same page with Albano of late following his loss to Dustin Rhodes in their Tournament match last month. Though he and Blair hold their own against The Hughes Brothers; Blackman's mood doesn't improve when B. Brian Blair gets hit by the corner sprinboard cutter by little Spike Hughes which big Devon Hughes follows up with a diving headbutt off the top and the cover! Testify!
The Hughes Brothers celebrate their win here tonight while an angry but still silent Steve Blackman picks up his Kendo Stick and gives a surprised B. Brian Blair a demonstation of his abilities with it. Captain Lou does his best to pull Blackman off and almost getting a beating of his own for his troubles. In front of the ECW banner with Terri Runnels, ECW Light Heavyweight Champ Aryan von Raschke along with The Baron and The Blitzkrieg smugly congratulate the former Champ "Too Cool" Brian Christopher on the shortest Lightweight Title reign in ECW history!Just then however Christopher himself shows up with Jacqueline Moore and in some sort of broken English tells Aryan that they'll see just how long he'll hold that claim; because he'll be getting his rematch for the bling this Saturday on Weekend Warriors yo!Match: Aryan von Raschke vs. Tully Blanchard Referee: S.D. Jones Tully Blanchard is more than up to the challenge he faces in Aryan von Raschke here tonight and teaches the young punk a lesson in mat wrestling. Okerlund says that a win here for Tully tonight could put him on the fast track to becoming Light Heavyweight Champ himself and he looks to have won the match when he hits Aryan with a slingshot suplex and makes the cover! Von Raschke however stays in it, kicking out just before the three! The Lightweight Champ from here makes a comeback and gets a near two following a side German ledsweep (which Okerlund says is still Russian) and Tully gets another two count off a sunset flip. The end looks to be nigh however when Tully Blanchard locks in the figure four! Aryan screams in pain and does his best to fight his way to the ropes! But he clearly isn't going to make it! When the Baron reaches in and pulls his son to them!
While S.D. Jones has Blanchard break the hold, he clearly isn't happy about it and admonishes The Baron at ringside while he pleads innocent. In the meantime however The Blitzkrieg enters the ring and delivers a Telegraph from Berlin chokeslam on Tully before rolling out of the ring! Aryan von Raschke then hobbles to his feet and seeing Blanchard down scrambles to make the cover! 1!... 2!....
Tully kicks out! He's groggy as he gets to his feet while the Light Heavyweight Champ stalks him before connects with the Sieg Heil! superkick! He hooks the leg and steals the win here tonight.Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's Main Event which will see ECW Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair face off against former Light Heavyweight Champion Cousin Jamie. Poffo says this is what we in the business like to call a squash match; because Jamie is no match for God! Okerlund says he wouldn't sell the young man short as he has shown tons of promise here in ECW. And according to Lanny; little common sense. Banjo music then begins to play.
Gertner: The following non-Title contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from the Mississippi Bayou weighing 202 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert; he is Cousin Jamie!
The Bayou Boys hit the ring and have themselves a main event worthy hoe down before "Also Sprach Zarathustra" hits and out from the back emerges "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair in his robe with the Title about his waist.
Gertner: And now introducing at this time; making his way from Charlotte, North Carolina weighing 243 lbs.; he is the Eastern Heavyweight Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair!Main Event: Ric Flair vs. Cousin Jamie w/ Doug Gilbert Referee: Danny Davis
Ric Flair poses in the ring before facing off against Cousin Jamie; letting out a Woooo! right in his opponent's face! This sends Jamie right on the attack and he batters Flair back into the ropes! He whips him across the ring and drops down to the mat on his stomach but Flair stops himself in the middle of the ring and begins stomping out his opponent before hitting an elbow drop! He rolls him over and makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Jamie kicks out! Flair seems annoyed at this and capturing the former Lightweight Champ by the head begins pounding him in the face! He then throws him into the ropes and connects with an elbow smash! Then pulling Cousin Jamie up to his feet he chops him across the ring and whipping him across hits a suplex! He doesn't go for the cover though; instead pulling Jamie up to his feet and looks to hits a body slam! But Cousin Jamie slides out landing behing Flair and pushes "Naitch" forward into the ropes before nailing him with a dropkick! He then grabs Ric by the legs and puts him in the Trailer Hitch modified figure four! Lanny says that if the Bayou Boys were looking to incur the wrath of God that this was surely the way to go about it! Flair beats the mat a bit while struggling in the hold; before reversing the hold and treating Cousin Jamie to the real deal! Ric Flair synchs in the figure four leglock and has Cousin Jamie tapping out! Flair has won it and strutting about the ring lets out a triumphant Woooo! Cousin Jamie meanwhile hobbles up to his feet and seeing him Ric Flair grabs the young grappler by the head and runs him out of the ring over the top out where Doug Gilbert checks on him. Just then "Ravishing" Rick Rude's strip theme hits! And out from the back comes the # 1 contender! Ric Flair looks amused by this and goads him into the ring where the two men come face to face. Rick Rude then gets on the microphone and tells Flair that back at Hardcore Heaven "The Nature Boy" did something he never thought possible. He beat "The Ravishing One" at the top of his game. See, prior to that the last time they fought was back in September of 1993. And when all was said and done; "Ravishing" Rick Rude walked out of Houston, Texas the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Which is exactly how it should've ended this past May. But Rude underestimated Flair. Forgot just how dirty "The Dirtiest Player in the Game" could get. And next week? Well let's just say history WILL repeat itself. But it'll be repeating itself with a Rick Rude whose eyes are wide open brother. And just like in 1993; Rick Rude will once again defeat Ric Flair and take back what by rights should be his; the Eastern Heavyweight Championship!
Ric Flair laughs. He says that Rude always was delusional. But then that always will be the case when you don't think with your head brother. See, what Flair saw night after night in WCW wasn't that Rick Rude was the best in this business. He could be understand; but he never will be. Because at the ends of the day with all his boasts, all hid charisma; and even all his ability "The Ravishing One" is weak! Because Rick Rude's greatest enemy time and again is Rick Rude. His ego, his vanity; even his love of women keeps his eyes off the ball everytime the chips are high baby! And that why Ric Flair ain't scared next week! Oh no! Ric Flair is sure of that one inevitable through brother! And that's when the pressure gets too high Rick Rude will do what Rick Rude always does! He'll choke! And next week in the DakotaDome the pressure will be higher than it's ever been! Cause next week Rick Rude will have his day or reckoning with God almighty! Woooooo!
Ric then holds off a slaps Rude! And Rude fires back! The two men begin brawling about the ring! And neither man has the upperhand when the...
Lights Fade.

Each attempt however fails to put Brian away and he retaliates with a superkick, a sunset flip powerbomb; and the Hip Hop guilltoine legdrop! This last one nets him his first clean win over Aryan to date and Brian Christopher becomes the new ECW Light Heavyweight Champion! After the match we're taken back stage for Honky Tonk Man's "Shake, Rattle; and Roll" segment where shows us one of the all-time greats; Chuck Berry with "Johnny B. Prince Nana comes down to the ring and poses for his fans. All two of them.
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent this evening hailing from Blackpool, England weighing 240 lbs.; he is the Eastern States Champion; Lord William Regal!Main Event: William Regal vs. Prince Nana Osei Bandoh William Regal locks up with Prince Nana and the two men spend the early portion of the match trading holds with Bandoh getting the worst of it. William hits the ropes and soon finds himself whipped hard into the corner where Prince Nana connects with a body avalanche! 7/10/96 - DakotaDome Vermillion, SD"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the DakotaDome in Vermillion, South Dakota for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! They then briefly recap last week's show which saw # 1 Contender Rick Rude defeat Tommy Dreamer, ECW Champion Ric Flair defeat Cousin Jamie; and in what some consider an upset the Junkyard Dog defeat "The American Nightmare" Dustin Rhodes in a Tournament Final to determine the # 1 Contender for the Eastern States Championship!
They then run down tonight's huge card. And tonight that's no hyperbole, because in the Main Event "Ravishing" Rick Rude will get his rematch against the man who defeated him for the ECW Championship back at Hardcore Heaven '96 when he faces "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the Eastern Heavyweight Championship! Also on tonight's card Aryan von Raschke will get his rematch against the new ECW Lightweight Champion "Too Cool" Brian Christopher; that Title having changed hands once again this past Saturday on ECW Weekend Warriors! Also the "Macho Man" Randy Savage will be in action tonight as will the current ECW Tag-Team Champions Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes as they take on the Mexi-Kings in non-Title action! But first...
Joel Gertner makes the intros for the first match of the night.Tag-Team Match: Rob Van Dam & Dean Malenko vs. Destruction Inc.Referee: S.D. Jones These four men have been at one another's throats in recent weeks and tonight is no difference as an all out brawl ensues the second the bell rings. Referee S.D. Jones has his hands full trying to maintain order with both teams forgetting to tag in and out as the two teams tear one another apart both inside and out of the ring. "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam chooses his moments to get a couple high spots in, hitting a springboard moonsault on Rhino midway through the match getting himself a two count. Later Rob spends a couple minutes down and out on the mat after getting put down with the Mongo Masher while Mongo Vyle and Rhino work Dean Malenko over on the outside. Getting to his feet however, Van Dam scales the turnbuckle and comes off the top with a flying crossbody onto Destruction Inc. that sends bodies scattering everywhere!
Dean Malenko is back up first and gets some revenge on Rhino who hit him with not one, but two Gores earlier in the match when he savagely busts "The Man-Beast" open over the steel guardrail! Van Dam is up next, but Vyle is right behind him and hits Rob with a hard right just as the bell rings and S.D. Jones declares it a Double Count Out! Neither team seems to care much however and the brawl continues into the first...Back from commercial we're told "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin who we saw just before the break along with his security team were forced to break up the brawl between Malenko, Rob Van Dam; and Destruction Inc. Okerlund is sure we haven't heard the last from those two teams.Match: Michele Starr w/ Joe E. Legend vs. EZ MoneyReferee: Danny Davis Michele Starr comes down to the ring with his Tag-Team partner Joe E. Legend where he has a decent back and forth contest with EZ Money. Okerlund is surprised to see "The Gorgeous One" in the ring calling him a coward and putting over his actions on Weekend Warriors of late reprehensible. Inside the ring Starr bumps into Danny Davis knocking him down to the mat while Joe E. Legend passes Michele his make-up case which he brains the young grappler with before making the cover and picks up the win!
Michele then gets on the mic and tells us that Money is easily the ugliest woman he's ever been in the ring with before giving him a makeover too. After the match we're taken backstage where "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair is standing in front of the ECW banner with ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels. Woooo! He tells Terri that he doesn't fear Rick Rude. That "The Ravishing One" is little more than a gnat. And Ric Flair is the bug zapper baby! He says that all sorts of hanger's on, carrion; and never beens are drawn to the glamour, the fame, the legendary status of "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair! Especially when he's holding onto the most coveted price in the business! They're hoping just a little, just taste of the "Naitch" rubs off on them brother. But what they all learn time and time again baby, is when you climb Mount Olympus and look God in the eye brother; the only thing they all learn; is just how far a drop it is from the top! Wooooo! The ECW Light Heavyweight Champ "Too Cool" Brian Christopher is standing by with Jacqueline Moore as he cuts a promo on defeating that fascist phony Aryan von Raschke yet again brothas! And that on Weekend Warriors he once again walked away with this thing right here. Check out the bling baby! He shows of the ECW Light Heavyweight Champion to Jacqueline who pets it admiringly. Brian then says that Aryan and his schtick are dated yo. That him and his goosesteppin' buddies had best get with the times before just like this past Saturday they get played out!ECW Light Heavyweight Title Match: Brian Christopher vs. Aryan von RaschkeReferee: S.D. Jones "Too Cool" Brian Christopher gets the drop on his rival Aryan von Raschke early on, hitting the side-Russian legsweep on him picking up a two count. He gets a bit overconfident though and spends too much of his time showboating and dancing; which leads to Von Raschke rolling out of the way to avoid the Hip Hop guillotine legdrop! Aryan pops up and takes Christopher's head off with a superkick! The Baron cheers his son on as he makes the cover! 1!.. 2!...
Brian kicks out! Aryan however keeps control for most of the remainder of the match, getting another two count with as he grabs Christopher in a headlock and goosesteps about the ring before hitting a DDT on him and yet another after hitting a missile dropkick off the top! Brian Christopher keeps hanging in there and after several failed attempts at a comeback Aryan Von Raschke sets him up for a Piledriver! But Brian reverses it and counters with a Piledriver of his own! The Baron shrieks in anger as Christopher hooks the leg and picking up the three count, retains the Title! Brian is quick to roll out of the ring afterwards as The Blitzkrieg and the Baron storm the ring! They're left to watch Brian Christopher dance his way up the ramp to the back, Title in hand. After the break we're taken backstage where the Junkyard Dog is approached by Eastern States Champion William Regal! The Dog looks a bit on-guard, but Regal says that he had no ill intentions. He just wanted to wish JYD luck on their match for the Title right here next week! Junkyard thanks him and they shake hands."Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Kearney Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Nebraska and will mark ECW's first show in the Cornhusker State. They say that while tickets for the show are sold out, those folks at home should join us right here on Eastern Championship's home station TNN The Nashville Network to catch all the action live! They then remind us to also tune in this Saturday for ECW Weekend Warriors!Match: Randy Savage vs. Jason VenomReferee: Danny Davis "Macho Man" Randy Savage comes down to the ring with "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs and poses for the fans. When big Jason Venom comes down to the ring, Savage seems more focused on Steve Corino who's joined Venom at ringside and Okerlund reminds us the history between the two men as they exchange words. The match begins and Jason Venom goes right after Savage, but has trouble catching the much quicker competitor. Rany applies a stick and move technique to Venom and is pretty successful in keeping the big man on his toes early on.
Corino however makes a nuisance of himself at ringside, constantly agitating Savage who finally has had enough and reaching over the ropes grabs Steve by his head! This gives Jason Venom just the opportunity he's needed and he whallops "Macho Man" in the back and works him over a bit, delivering a sidewalk slam for a two while a relieved Corino looks on. Jason Venom continues using several power moves includes a running powerslam and his patented Venom sheer drop release powerbomb on Savage; but "The Macho One" keeps amazing the youngster with his resilience as he keeps kicking free! Finally he catches Savage in a sleeper hold and begins choking the former Champ out!
But Randy rallies back! He lays into Venom, taking the fight right back to his challenger whom he floors with a clothesline before running the ropes and nailing with a springboard clothesline! Venom's head is spinning as a seemingly revitalized Savage beats him down and slams him to the mat with an impressive body slam off a whip! Randy signals for the Savage elbow! He climbs up top, but Corino is on the apron and grabs his leg! Randy fights him off, but now Jason Venom is back up and headed to the corner where he begins wailing on "Macho Man!" He's looking for a superplex! But Randy fights out of it and throws his opponent down to the canvas! And he's airborne! The Savage Elbow connects! 1!... 2!... 3!
"Macho Man" has won it! But he's not done yet! He rolls out and steals Poffo's chair and chases Steve Corino about the ring with it! "Mr. Wrestling" runs up the ramp escaping! Savage is now gesturing to a groggy Jason Venom though and entering the ring he brains Jason with the steel chair! And he hits him again! And again! Savage throws the chair away and poses for the crowd while Debbie Combs joins him in the ring. "Ravishing" Rick Rude is then with us backstage in front of the ECW banner as he talks with Terri Runnels about his upcoming match tonight. Rude says that anyone can claim to be God. Ric Flair certainly seems to enjoy it. But the undeniable proof is there is only one star in this business who can claim to be made in God's image. And that's "The Ravishing One" Rick Rude. He tells Terri she can feel his pecs as he flexes. He says that he's the physical pique of perfection and that tonight he'll once again prove it by walking into that ring, standing before a so-called wrestling God; and throwing him down from his throne to once again walk away the Eastern Heavyweight Champion! Backstage Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes are headed toward the entrance ramp with Beulah McGillicutty when they're approached by ECW Corrsepondent Terri Runnels who questions "The American Nightmare" about his match last week. Rhodes seems in a bit of a funk but says he has to give The Dog his due. He said he was going to win this Tournament for "Captain Redneck" and he brought one hell of a fight to the ring. Dreamer tells Dustin not to worry about it. He'll get another shot at the Title soon and he's already one-half of what will soon be the longest Tag-Team reign in Eastern Championship history! Beulah agrees and gives Dustin a kiss on the cheek to cheer him up.Tag-Team Match: The Mexi-Kings vs. Tommy Dreamer & Dustin RhodesReferee: S.D. Jones The Tag-Team Champs are already in the ring having shown off their Titles before sharing a drink from Dustin Rhodes' flash when some gangsta music hits and out from the back come the Mexi-Kings Shawn Hernandez and Erazo Rodriguez whom Okerlund and Poffo now refer to as Homicide. They head down to the ring when they're suddenly jumped from behind?!By Steve Corino and Jason Venom! Caught off-guard, the Mexi-Kings don't stand a chance and are beaten down with Venom hitting the Venom sheer-drop release powerBomb on Hernandez right on the ramp and Corino whipping Homicide hard into the steel barricade before stomping him out! "Mr. Wrestling" has a microphone and tells Rodriguez that there's only going to be one reason anyone refers to him as "Homicide." And that's gonna be when the find him dead in the barrio holmes! He then mockingly makes gang signs like the Mexi-Kings do in their entrance before kicking him in the back for good measure.
He then addresses the Tag-Team Champs, saying that they're ducking Corino and Venom, facing gutter trash like the Mexi-Queens that're far beneath their station instead! Dreamer and Rhodes tell "Mr. Wrestling" to bring it; but he laughs and says he's not wrestling them unless it's an official match. He doesn't want to get screwed out of what should rightfully belong around the waists of Steve Corino and Jason Venom; the Tag-Team Championships! After the break we're brought backstage to the dressing room of The Four Horsemen where Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard are trying to talk ECW Champ "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair into allowing Scott Taylor to join them. Ric is visibly agitated by this and tells them that nobody, but NOBODY will be joining HIS Horsemen unless he respects them! And he doesn't respect that punk Scott Taylor! He then tells them both that they'd best drop it before he is looking for three replacements.Match: The Blitzkrieg vs. Buck ZumhoffReferee: Danny Davis "Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff is already in the ring dancing to "Rock You Like a Hurricane" by The Scorpions when "Ich tu der Weh" by Rammstein hits and out from the back comes The Blitzkrieg! He has The Baron and Aryan von Raschke with him. Lanny says that it's matches like this that keep him happily retired and Okerlund quips that might just be the first thing he ever heard "The Genius" utter. The match begins and there's no quit in Buck Zumhoff (or brains according to Poffo) as he goes right after "Mangler's Monster!" The Blitzkrieg however mostly manhandles "the original Rock 'N Roller" before putting him out of his misery with a vicious looking Muscle Buster for the three count.Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event which will see the ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair defend his Title against "Ravishing" Rick Rude in a rematch from Hardcore Heaven '96 back on May 2nd when Flair defeated Rude for the belt; using a foreign object to do so. They then briefly recap their history together in WCW where Rude defeated Flair for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship before vacating the Title when he came over to Eastern Championship. Since coming here he has been ECW Champion twice, his second reign having ended at the hands of his old nemesis "The Nature Boy!" Rude's strip theme then hits.
Gertner: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is for the ECW Championship! Introducing first from Robbinsdale, Minnesota weighing in at 251 lbs.; he is "The Ravishing One" Rick Rude!
Rude comes down to the ring and swinging his hips, gives the ladies a show as he removes his robe.
Gertner: And now introducing at this time weighing 243 lbs. and hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina; he is the Eastern Heavyweight Champion; "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair!Main Event ECW Title Match: Ric Flair vs. Rick RudeReferee: S.D. Jones Jones starts the match and the two men square off. Ric Flair keeps trying to lock up with Rick Rude, but the challenger keeps shrugging it off and taunts Flair with a shake of his hips as he circles the ring. Finally "Naitch" has had enough and charges Rude, forcing him to lock up and drives him back into the ropes where he gives Rude a little shove and Rick slaps him across the face! Flair's eyes bug out of his head and he pushes Rude again! Rick this time pushes back and a shoving match ensues until they lock it up again. This time it's "Ravishing" who forces the Champ into the ropes and whips him across the ring. Ric responds with a shoulder block taking Rude down to the mat and runs the ropes; but on the return gets dragged down by a drop toe hold! And Rick is right on top of him, but Flair scrambles up to his feet only to be taken down by a hard right hand from Rude!
This time Ric exits the ring while on the inside "Ravishing" gives another confident shake of his hips. Rick swaggers about the ring for a bit while Flair takes his time getting back in, allowing Jones to reach a six count. The two men soon lock up again and exchange several holds , reversals; and counters before "The Ravishing One" traps Ric in a rear headlock. Flair gets to his feet and attempts to escape with several back elbows before driving his opponent back into the corner where he hits him with a big back elbow that he follows with a Flair-style chop! And he chops the hell out of Rude before Rick grabs the Champ and spins him about where he lets him have it with a hard right! And another! He keeps hammering on Ric until "Naitch" stumbles out of the corner and Flair drops flat on his face!
Rick Rude has all the momentum as he taunts the Champ who crawls and begs him off as he heads toward the corner. Rude follows him right in and stomps a mudhole into "The Nature Boy!" Finally Jones manages to pull them apart and a groggy Ric Flair gets to his feet where he hesitates before locking it up with "The Ravishing One" again. The exchange a few more holds before Flair once again backs up and suckering Rick into locking up again, knees him in the gut. Taking charge of the match he throws Rude into the corner and once again takes him to Chop city! He slaps the crap out of Rude for a bit before grabbing him in a headlock and busting him int the face! He goes to try it again, but this time Rick slaps him away and punches him down to the mat! Flair is back up, but Rude hammers him back down again! And on the third exchange Rick drops him with a clothesline!
The Champ is in a bad way as he bounces back up into the corner where Ric goads him on. Rick Rude comes in swinging and Flair lets him have it with a quick poke to the eyes! Ric then grabs Rude by the head and running him across the ring hurls him over the top! He follows him out, rolling from the ring where he grabs a steel chair! He's about to slam it over Rude's head when S.D. Jones grabs it out of his hand! Flair is stunned and gets in the ref's face, but Jones pushes him away! And Ric looks like he's about to hit Jones! But he's grabbed from behind by "The Ravishing One" who nails him with a suplex right on the concrete! Flair is in pain and rolling about on the floor while Rick drags him up to his feet and runs him back into the ring! "The Genius" says this is smart of the challenger, who cannot win the Title by Count Out.
Rick Rude himself then climbs up onto the apron and waiting for Flair to get to his feet he uses the ropes to leap over the Champ and into the ring as he connects with a sunset flip! But Flair doesn't go over! Rick attempts to pull him the rest of the way, only to catch and shot to the face from the Champ! Ric then puts the boots to Rude before pulling him up to his feet and whips him hard into the corner where Rick almost goes up and over before catching the top rope, saving himself! "Ravishing" now hung in the corner is then grabbed by Flair who begins hammering him in the face! Rick tries to escape, but Flair forces him back and continues hammering on his opponent until he busts him open! And he doesn't stop there, using Rude as a punching back as he connects with jab after jab on the challenger. Finally he whips Rude across the ring once more and slams him hard into the corner! Rick collapses onto the canvas as blood spills from his head. And keeping on top of him, Ric rolls Rude over and goes for the cover! With his feet up on the ropes! 1!... 2!....
Rude kicks out! Ric makes the cover again! And once again his feet are up on the ropes! 1!... 2!...
Rick kicks out again!
Flair gives up and begins strutting about the ring a bit. Woooo! Rude meanwhile crawls back up to his feet where Ric knees him in the head. Rude staggers back into the ropes, but comes right back with a hard right hand! Flair chops back! And the two men begin slugging it out in the middle of the ring! Ric kicks Rude in the groin and forces him back into the ropes before going for another whip! Only to have it reversed! And Flair hits the corner hard, bounces out; and gets beheaded by a clothesline! Rick Rude drops down with the cover! 1!... 2!...
Flair kicks out! Rick is still trying to catch his breath as Flair gets up to one knee and punches him in the gut! Ric whips Rude across the ring, looks for a hip-toss on the rebound; but with the Champ fighting it Rick Rude counters with the Rude Awakening delayed hangman's neckbreaker! And it connects! And he hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
Flair kicks out just before the 3! We nearly had a new Champion! Rick Rude gets back to his feet, followed by Flair; but Ric recovers first and whips Rude! Only to have it reversed again! Flair hits the turnbuckle, going up and over before landing back inside the ring where he stumbles into a big back body drop couresy of "The Ravishing One!" Rude seems to have recovered as he stalks a pleading Ric Flair across the ring into the corner where Rick grabs him by the feets and pulls him back into the center of the ring! Flair is shaking his head as he gets up to one knee and Rude lets him have it! Ric retreats back into the corner followed by his opponent where Rick Rude climbs up onto the second rope and begins rainging down the punches! 1! 2! 3! 4! 5! 6!
Flair pulls Rude off the ropes and nails him with an inverted atomic drop! And as Rude reels from the blow, Flair grabs him from behind with a School Boy! 1!... 2!....
Rude kicks out just before the 3! Rude is back up first however and Ric Flair slithers out of the ring! Ric argues with S.D. Jones on the outside for a bit before climbing up onto the apron where Rude slaps him with a chop before hooking him in a front headlock and suplexes him back into the ring where he makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
"Naitch" gets his shoulder up! Both men are back up, Rick Rude follows Flair into the corner where Ric lets him have it with a kick to the gut that seems kind of low. He then whips him into the ropes and catching Rude in a sleeper hold! Flair synchs it in as Rude goes down to one knee! Rude is down in a seated position and he's attempting to fight it. But it isn't looking good for "The Ravishing One!" Jones grabs Rude by the arm and slowly it drops! He does it again and this time it falls with a thud! He drops it a third time! But this time Rude holds it in the air! Rick Rude is still in the game as he begins fighting his way up to his feet! Flair keeps the hold locked in and Rude rushes them both to the corner where Flair slams into the top turnbuckle face first!
But Rick Rude strikes the steel ring post shoulder first and both men go down hard! Both men lie unmoving on the floor! S.D. Jones starts the ten count!

4!
5!
6!
Flair begins to stir! 7!
8!
Flair is back up on one knee while Rude crawls on the floor! 9!
Both men are back up! Ric Flair's wound from a couple of weeks ago is now busted back open! Blood spills from both men as they stumble towards one another! Flair grabs at Rick Rude and whips him into the ropes! But on the rebound Rick Rude nails the Champ with a lariat takedown into the cover! 1!... 2!
Flair kicks out! Rude can't believe it! He hurt his shoulder hitting the move and is now favoring it as he keeps on top of Ric, trapping him in a headlock! But slowly Ric Flair fights his way up to his feet and grabbing Rude by the leg hoists him into the air and drops him on his injured shoulder with a suplex! And both men are down again! Jones only reaches a count of four this time however before Rick uses the ropes to pull himself back up! But the ECW Champ is back up to and he pulls Rude off the ropes by his feet, causing him to land on his shoulder once again! And taking him by the legs Ric Flair locks in the figure four leglock! Rude is screaming in pain! He has nowhere to go and behind the ref's back Ric Flair grabs the top rope for leverage! And Rude taps out! He taps out!
Ric Flair has retained the ECW Championship! He grabs his belt from S.D. Jones who raises his hand in victory as the...

From there he struts about the ring and lets out a Woooo! before grabbing Taylor by the legs and locking in the figure four! Scott Taylor taps out almost immediately, but it isn't good enough for "Naitch" who grabs the bottom rope and screams at Taylor; telling him he's a nobody!!!
After he's done Ric lets Taylor go and picking the young grappler up to his feet he runs him across the ring; and throws him over the top rope to the floor below! He then gets on the microphone and says now that he's done taking out the trash. This past Wednesday he showed everyone once again just why he's the one true God of professional wrestling! "Rock 'N Roll" tells him to shut it.Match: Tiffany vs. Brandi Wine The ECW Women's Champ Tiffany poses for the fans before locking it up with Brandi Wine who shows some improvement giving Tiffany a tougher fight than usual as she locks her in a Surfboard for a bit and gets a two count off a leg drop off the top which Honky says he wouldn't mind being on the receiving end of if ya know what he's sayin'. Tiffany however keeps control most of the match hitting her opponent with several hurrancanranas, a powerbomb that gets her a two; and a suplex before finishing Brandi Wine off with the Iconoclasm off the top.Toward the end of the match however Michele Starr and his Tag-Team partner Joe E. Legend have made their way down to the ring! They enter and Tiffany charges Starr! She doesn't reach him however as Legend grabs her from behind and holds her back! "The Gorgeous One" then picks the stunned Brandi Wine up to the feet and runs her across the ring, tossing her over the top rope! Besides at least Buck was sleeping afterward, HTM's eyes are bleeding now. They then discuss the recent feud between former ECW Champion Steve Corino and his partner Jason Venom with The Mexi-Kings which began several weeks ago right here on Weekend Warriors. This past Wednesday however things got even more heated when Corino and Venom jumped the Kings before their match with the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer. Honky says that's why you can tell these two Latino kids are green. Back in his day he and "The Hammer" would've not only beat down Venom and Corino; they would've also walked out of their the Tag-Team Champions! Zumhoff reminds him that it wasn't even a Title match; but Honky says that's just how good they were. "Fire" by Scooter then hits.

This gives "The Silent Assassin" Steve Blackman the edge he needs while his manager Captain Lou Albano barks orders from ringside as he dominates Rude for a bit, locking him in a guillotine choke with body scissors, nailing him with a variety of kicks; and getting a nearfall using a bridged Fisherman's suplex! Rude however refuses to stay down and keeps hanging in there, getting in more and more offense as the match wears on until he nails Steve Blackman with the Rude Awakening delayed hangman's neckbreaker and picks up the win! Rick Rude looks exhausted after the match when... Voodoo drums begin to pound, the lights flicker out; and smoke fills the arena as "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango appears on the ramp with Luna Vachon! Shango says that he is disappointed in Rude! For "The Soul Stealer" would have rejoiced in once again reaching down his throat, tearing into his soul and pulling out his still beating heart once again to become the ECW Champion! But last week he failed... and therefore the honor of falling upon the altar of The Dark Lord shall belong to that of "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair!
Inside the ring Rick Rude has pulled himself up to his feet as "The Soul Stealer begins cackling maniacally. Just then however the rest of The Dark Circle has slithered its way through the audience and climbing over the barriacades they attack Rude! Rick has no choice but to cover his head as the combined forces of Brimstone, Barry Windham, Destruction Inc.; and the Circus of Doom beat him down to the floor and viciously put the boots to him!Papa Shango is busy cackling when out from the back comes William Regal, Rob Van Dam; and Dean Malenko who push him out of the way to come to the aide of Rick Rude!An all out brawl erupts and soon Ronnie Garvin and his security team have joined the fray! Several of the security team members (as usual) fall victim to beatings from the Dark Circle as the fighting continues right into the... The ECW Light Heavyweight Champion "Too Cool" Brian Christopher is with Jacqueline Moore in front of the ECW banner as he talks to Terri Runnels who seems to have trouble understanding his ghetto talk as he brags about defeating Aryan von Raschke not once, but twice for the Title! Two time Champ-ee-on yo! And says that now that he's dealt with those cracker skinheads he's ready to take on all comers.Match: Brian Christopher vs. Spike HughesReferee: S.D. Jones Spike Hughes has Devon Hughes at ringside and he warns Jacqueline Moore multiple times to stay out of the fight throughout the match; which she does. Spike is up to the challenger of facing Brian Christopher whom he battles back and forth, hitting with a diving double foot stomp and gets a two count off his patented Mission from Gawd corner springboard cutter. Brian Christopher makes several pin attempts using a side Russian legsweep, a Sunset Flip Bomb off the top; and a superkick but little Spike refuses to stay down! A frustrated Brian Christopher finally puts Spike Hughes away with the Hip Hop guillotine legdrop off the top.Eastern Steates Champion William Regal cuts a promo about facing the Junkyard Dog tonight saying that he didn't think ol' Stagger Lee had it in him; but he proved him wrong and won the Tournament last week. But while he admires The Dog's determination that won't help him here tonight.
"Fire" by Scooter hits and we're played a recap from last week of the attack on Steve Corino and Jason Venom this past week on Weekend Warriors when Homicide dropped Corino on his head, piledriving him into an open steel chair. Okerlund says that he doesn't think we'll be seeing Corino whose scheduled to compete tonight and Poffo says it would take a special kind of idiot would show up after that. Especially when he's set to face The Blitzkrieg!Corino proves to be that special however when he appears... in a wheelchair?! He's being pushed by Jason Venom!
Venom rolls "Mr. Wrestling" about the ring while he says he should sue Bischoff and Eastern Championship itself for not making the ring accessible for the handicapped. Which is just what he might as well be after what those animal The Mexi-Kings did to him this past Saturday! He says that the doctors have told him his back is all messed up and he may never wrestle again! And to that end he and his associate Jason Venom have decided he will replace him in tonight's match! The announcers seems relieved to hear this until Corino joins them at ringside.Match: The Blitzkrieg vs. Steve Corino w/ Jason VenomReferee: Danny Davis The Blitzkrieg only has the Baron with him at ringside tonight as he squares off against big Jason Venom and the two men beat the hell out of one another while Corino trash talks the Mexi-Kings at ringside and informs us that he and Venom ditched David Prazak who had the nerve to call some of Steve's recent comments against the Kings racist. He then tells us that those two had better hop back over the border fast, because he plans to sue them for every last peso they have. Inside the ring The Blitzkrieg is dominating Jason Venom and has busted him open with a vicious uppercut which he follows up with a big boot for the win!On the outside however The Mexi-Kings have appeared and are bullying Steve Corino! Okerlund tries to defend "Mr. Wrestling;" reminding them that the former ECW Champ is in a wheelchair! Homicide however still slaps the taste out of Steve's mouth and Corino slumps over while Shawn Hernandez is ordered to clear the ring.
Homicide meanwhile continues to yell at Steve Corino, picking his head up as Steve Corino strikes with a lead pipe! Homicide is stunned as Corino begins beating the hell out of him with it! Meanwhile Shawn Hernandez doesn't have much luck clearing the ring as he finds himself face to mask with "Mangler's Monster" The Blitzkrieg who beats him down before laying him out cold with a Muscle Buster!
Steve Corino is obviously not injured at all as he is now up on his feet screaming at Homicide as he puts the boots to him! He then picks Homicide up to his feet and rolls him into the ring where The Blitzkrieg obliges Corino by hitting Homcide with a Muscle Buster too! The Mexi-Kings are layed out while Steve Corino pulls Jason Venom out of the ring and celebrates! But the Blitzkrieg isn't done and heads toward Corino! Steve has been in the ring with "The Monster" before however and seeing this heads up the ring with Venom quite proud with himself."Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the commercial break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us from the sold out Omaha Civic Center in Omaha, Nebraska! They say that those folks at home or not in the area should tune in right here on Eastern Championship's home station of TNN The Nashville Network to catch all the action live! And that we should be sure to tune in this Saturday night right here on TNN to catch ECW Weekend Warriors where they've just heard the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer will be in action in the Main Event!Match: Arn Anderson vs. Doug Gilbert w/ Cousin JamieReferee: S.D. Jones "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert gives "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson a decent fight here as the two men battle back and forth with Anderson becoming the first man to kick out of the Hot Shot flapjack dropped into a hangman. Midway through the match Cousin Jamie looks to get involved when he attacks Arn from behind, stopping him from locking in the figure four on Dougie! This leads to Tully Blanchard entering the ring and with Arn they lay Jamie out with a double Spike Piledriver that sends Jamie bouncing out of the ring! With him taken out, the match resumes as scheduled and after dominating much of the match Arn Anderson hitting the spinning spinebuster on Doug Gilbert and picks up the win. After the match we follow Arn and Tully up the ramp and into the dressing room where they come face to face with ECW Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair! Arn is pissed and Blanchard is forced to get between them so the encounter doesn't come to blows as Anderson berates Flair over his attack on his friend Scott Taylor on Weekend Warriors! Flair who is in his suit screams that Arn has no right in questioning him! He rips off his tie as he screams that Taylor is a no good punk and he proved just that this Saturday! He takes off his jackets and throws it at Arn while telling him that if he wants Taylor in HIS Horsemen that that piece of trash is going to have to face an opponent of his choosing! Right here! Next week! Arn ducks a shoe being thrown at him and tells Ric Flair that he's lost his damned mind. But he's okay with that. Next week Scott Taylor will be ready to face whoever Flair has for him.Back from break "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula hits and out from the back comes ECW President Eric Bischoff! He reminds us that whenever we see him it can mean only one thing; business is at hand. And his business here this week is to schedule a Title Match for next week's Main Event! And that match will see "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango challenger "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the Eastern Heavyweight Championship!Just then "Also Sprach Zarathustra" hits and out from the back comes "The Nature Boy!" He's got his shoes back on, but looks a bit sloppy as he tells Eric Bischoff that's all well and good him making matches for HIS Championship! However what he's forgetting is that Ric Flair is the Champion baby! Not Eric Bischoff! And he'll wrestle whoever and only whoever he damn well chooses for HIS Title! Woooo! And while he has no trouble facing that freaky deaky witch doctor again next week, it WON'T be for HIS Title! Because he don't deserve it! Bischoff looks pissed and is about to say something further when Ric gets in his face and Woooos! in it before storming off.Tag-Team Match: Destruction Inc. vs. Rob Van Dam & Dean MalenkoReferee: Danny Davis These two teams are just looking to beat the hell out of one another and that's just what they do. There's little actual wrestling as the four men take turns in the ring brawling and Davis is nearly forced to throw out the match on several occasions when he has difficuly keeping all four men out of the ring. Midway through the match Dean Malenko has been taken out with the Mongo Masher sitout full nelson atomic drop out on the floor and inside the ring Destruction Inc. lay waste to Rob Van Dam with the Utter Destruction flapjack/cutter combo when they head outside and get a table! They begin setting it up, by Danny Davis isn't having it and fights with them until the fans begin cheering and Mongo Vyle turns into a big missile dropkick from Dean Malenko! Rob Van Dam meanwhile gets back up and lets Rhino have it with the spinning heel kick while Davis removes the table from the ring.
The fighting continues with RVD hitting the Rolling Thunder on Rhino for a two count, Dean Malenko using a bridging cradle suplex on Mongo Vyle for a two, later locking "The Machiavellan" in the Texas Cloverleaf! This is broken up from a Gore striking spear from Rhino! And when Rob Van Dam enters to break it up he gets hit with one as well! Vyle makes the cover! 1!... 2!..
Dean kicks out! The four men continue to battle back and forth with Destruction Inc. dominating Van Dam and Maleno for a good while before they rally back and Malenko tosses Rhino who is the legal man outside the ring over the top rope! Mongo once again attacks him, but Malenko nails him with a backbreaker over his knee and whil Dean holds him there "Mr. Wednesday Night" scales the ringpost and hits a guillotine legdrop on Vyle! Dean Malenko then heads outside to get Rhino, but gets distracted by the table and despite Davis' orders sets it up! He then rolls "The Man-Beast" onto it and Rob Van Dam charges across the ring and leaping over the top rope with a suicide dive crashing Rhino through the table!
And Davis calls for the bell! He's awarded the match to Destruction Inc. via DQ! But as Lanny points out, Destruction Inc. certainly doesn't look like winners here tonight. Back from the break Junkyard Dog wearing a cowboy hat talks to ECW Corrsepondent Terri Runnels about the Tag-Team Tournament he recently one which made him the # 1 Contender for the Eastern States Championship! He says that he knows he got lucky, that this Dog's day might be close to being done; but he made a promise. A promise to his good friend and that's why tonight he's gonna do everything in his power to walk out of the Kearney Center with the belt! This one's for you Dickie!Tag-Team Match: Dustin Rhodes & Tommy Dreamer vs. Sex & ViolenceReferee: S.D. JonesDustin Rhodes starts things out with Joe E. Legend as the match gets underway in this non-Title contest. Early in the match the announcing team gets a surprise when the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase shows up?!"Gorgeous" Michele Starr is tagged in and together with Legend he double-teams Rhodes, setting him up for their finisher The Finger-Cuff which is broken up by Tommy Dreamer. Okerlund asks DiBiase what he's doing in ECW and he says he's heard Eastern Championship has been making some pretty big waves in the industry and he wants to ride it right to the top. And that he came here tonight to scout out some competitors to see if there are any here that're up to the high standards DiBiase requires to manage.
Joe E. Legend is now in the ring with Tommy Dreamer who is working him over before making the tag to Dustin Rhodes who hits Legend with the Lone Star State of Mind lifting falling DDT for the win. After the match Dreamer and Rhodes share a drink from Dustin's flask and Beulah McGillicutty who has been at ringside celebrates with them.Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event! They talk about two time Eastern States Champion Sir William Regal and his run with the Title including a big win over "The Dark Prophet' Brimstone at ECW Hardcore Heaven '96 to retain the Title. They then talk about Junkyard Dog who was definitely considered an underdog in the Tournament to determine the # 1 Contender for the Eastern States Title. Still he battled his way through Michele Starr, before receiving a bye in the second round due to the death of his Tag-Team partner and sometime rival "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch. In the third round he defeated former Champion Brimstone himself with some help from "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes; only to go on to defeat "The Dream's" own son Dustin Rhodes in the Tournament Final. Which leads us here tonight in what very well may be Junkyard Dog's last chance at a Title shot. But he has a big obstacle in his way here tonight in Sir William Regal. "Another One Bites the Dust" then hits and out comes...
Gertner: The following contest is shceduled for one fall and is for the Eastern States Championship! Introducing first from Wadesboro, North Carolina weighing 280 lbs. he is The Junkyard Dog!
JYD climbs up onto the apron wearing the cowboy hat and barks at the crowd!
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent tonight weighing 243 lbs. from Blackpool, England he is Sir William Regal!Eastern States Championship Match: William Regal vs. Junkyard DogReferee: Danny Davis Okerlund likes the Champion's show of sportsmanship when William Regal shakes hands with Junkyard Dog before the match. All signs of civility end however when the bell rings and Regal locks JYD up in several holds. Poffo claims this is an act of mercy on Regal's part and he is giving The Dog an easy way out which he should take by tapping. If this is indeed the case or not, Junkyard refuses to submit and Regal ends up whipping him into the ropes and nailing him with the Regal bridging leg hook belly to back suplex! 1!... 2!...
JYD just kicks out! Regal keeps on top of him with several stomps and knee drops before beating him into the corner! But JYD slaps Regal away and throws the Champ into the corner where he begins pounding on him! William however soon recovers and breaks free with a knee to the gut before dragging Junkyard down to the middle of the ring where he locks in the Regal arm trap cross-legged STF!
But the Dog refuses to stay down and he bites Regal's arm! This pisses the Champ off and he begins beating JYD down while his opponent is on one knee! But Junkyard rallies back and the two men begin trading punches in the middle of the ring before Junkyard clocks Regal with a vicious headbutt! And another! He then whips Regal across the ring!
But on the rebound William grabs Junkyard by the leg and hits another suplex! He then sets him up for the Surfboard! And he really lays into it! But JYD isn't tapping! Regal is frustrated by this and drops the Dog. He then goes to lock in the Regal Stretch again! When Danny Davis tumbles forward in a heap?! Regal has no time to react as someone grabs him by his hair and pulls him to his feet! It's Brimstone! "The Dark Prophet" hoists William Regal up to his feet and nails him with the Tombstone Piledriver! Regal is still moving however, so Brimstone hoists him up to his feet again and this time delivers a Chokeslam from Hell! He then leaves the ring while Junkyard Dog crawls up to his feet and makes the cover! Davis however is still dazed and it takes him a while to make the count. 1!... 2!...
William Regal kicks out! Junkyard Dog keeps on top of him with several stomps as Regal staggers up to one knee and The Dog grabs him by the head and hammers him with another headbutt! William Regal falls back into the ropes while Junkyard points up to the air and lets out a bark! And then he scoops Regal up and hits the Thump! front powerslam! JYD makes the cover!
1!...
2!...
3!... Junkyard Dog has won it! He's the new Eastern States Champion! He dances and barks about the ring! Okerlund can't believe it! Lanny can however, seeing as Brimstone essentially won the match for him and the...

Due to Flair's insistance last week however, this will NOT be a Title match as originally planned.
Joel Gertner then makes the announcements for the first match of the night.Match: Brian Christopher vs. Douglas WilliamsReferee: S.D. Jones ECW Light Heavyweight Champ "Too Cool" Brian Christopher comes down to the ring with Jacqueline Moore and has a grueling bout with a fired up "U.K. Kidd" Douglas Williams. There are many reversals and pin attempts as the two young grapplers battle it out with Okerlund telling us that a win here tonight would certainly put Williams on the map. And he nearly gets it when he hits his signature Chaos Theory wast-lock backward roll transitioned into a bridged German Suplex! Brian Christopher just kicks out however and battling his way back, finally manages to take Douglas Williams down for the count after hitting him with the Hip Hop guillotine leg Drop. After the match former Eastern States Champion Sir William Regal delivers a promo on losing the Title last week to the Junkyard Dog. He congratulates The Dog on the win and says that he'd better be prepared; because it won't be long before Regal wants his Title back where it belongs. But first he has a score to settle, a bit of revenge against the man known as Brimstone! Just then however William is approached by..."The Dark Prophet" Brimstone himself! Brimstone and Regal are nose to nose as the big man informs Regal he won't have long to wait. Because he'll get just that, right here next week!A video clip replays last week's show where "Ravishing" Rick Rude had just defeated Steve Blackman when "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango showed up and he was viciously attacked by The Dark Circle until help arrived in the form of Dean Malenko, Rob Van Dam, William Regal; and Ronnie Garvin's security team.Match: Rick Rude vs. Matt Borne w/ Pogo the ClownReferee: Danny Davis "Ravishing" Rick Rude looks pissed as he struts about the ring before "The Ring Master" Matt Borne shows up on the ramp with his Circus of Doom cohorts Pogo the Clown and Luna Vachon. Borne climbs into the ring and "Ravishing" doesn't waste one second in attacking him! It's all Rude early on as he beats Matt pillar to post about the ring. "The Ring Master" however earns himself some breathing room with a jab to the eye and grabbing Rude by his head throws him down to the ground before delivering a knee drop. The two men battle back and forth with Rude spending some time in the Stump Puller and kicking out at two following a lariat. Rick gets in his own share of offense, making several covers following a backbreaker over his knee, a verical suplex; and a DDT. Both men refuse to stay down however and Matt Borne is in control when he goes for the Whoopie Cushion seated Senton off the top!
But Rude rolls out of the way letting Matt catch an ass full of canvas! He bounces up to his feet and finds himself the victim of a Rude Awakening delayed hangman's necbreaker! Rude hooks the leg! But into the ring charges Pogo the Clown who stomps the hell out of Rude! Davis calls for the bell, DQing Borne; but that doesn't stop "The Ring Master" and Pogo from whipping the former ECW Champ across the ring and knocking his head off with a double clothesline! They then pull Rick Rude up and Pogo the Clown Buries Him in the Basement!Just then however "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko and "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam hit the ring! The two men are quick to clothesline Pogo over the top rope before whipping Matt Borne, setting him up for a jumping corkscrew roundhouse kick from RVD! Borne hits the ground and rolls out of the ring as Luna comes to his aide while Van Dam and Malenko help Rude to his feet while ECW goes to... After the break we're taken to the ECW banner where ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is talking with Dean Malenko and Rob Van Dam about their match last week with Destruction Inc.! They say that this Saturday Night on Weekend Warriors they'll meet Rhino and Mongo Vyle again; but this time there'll be no wins by DQ for the duo; because this weekend they'll be facing off in a Tag-Team Tables Match!Tag-Team Match: The Ubermensch vs. The Hardy BoyzReferee: S.D. Jones Matt Hardy starts things out with Aryan von Raschke and fairs well early on. Both he and Jeff get in some offense in while keeping Von Raschke out of his corner, but thanks to some interference from The Baron; Aryan escapes and tags in The Blitzkrieg! "Mangler's Monster" cleans house dominating both Hardy Boyz for a bit and hits the Telegraph from Berlin Chokeslam on Matt which effectively removes him from the match! Left on his own, Jeff Hardy tries his best but is unable to overcome The Uberemensch with the match ending as The Blitzkrieg whips Jeff hard across the ring right into a missile dropkick to the head from Aryan von Raschke who makes the cover and picks up the win.
After the match The Baron gets on the microphone and warns the Tag-Team Champions Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes that they're coming to destroy them and reclaim the Tag Titles to restore honor and glory to the Republic of Germany! We're then brought backstage where "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson confronts ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair asking him who Scott Taylor's opponent he picked for tonight will be. Flair smiles and assures Arn there's nothing to worry about. He's gonna give Arn's "little buddy" a fair shake. But his opponent tonight? Well let's just say it's a big surprise! Woooo!"Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa and that while there are a few tickets left on sale, those folks not in the area should be sure to join us right here on Eastern Championship's home station of TNN The Nashville Network to catch all the action live! They also remind us to watch ECW Weekend Warriors this Saturday night where we've just heard news that in addition to the Tag-Team Table Match between RVD, Malenko and Destruction Inc.; the ECW Women's Title will be on the line as Tiffany defends her belt against "The Gorgeous One" Michele Starr in a match that just makes Okerlund sick to his stomach.Match: Randy Savage vs. Doug Gilbert w/ Cousin JamieReferee: Danny Davis Though they have been losing efforts, "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert has been getting some premium opponents here in ECW of late and tonight is no different as he faces off against the "Macho Man" Randy Savage who has "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs in his corner as usual. Hardly a classic, Gilbert does get some offense in on Savage in; but the "Macho Man" mostly dominates the match before finishing Doug off with a Piledriver. After the match "Macho Man" Randy Savage poses for the fans.Back from the break Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard are out at ringside with Scott Taylor when "Also sprach Zarathustra" hits! And out from the back comes Ric Flair!Arn looks pissed, but Flair tells him not to worry. He isn't having Scotty face God tonight! But will say this... IF Taylor beats his opponent tonight; he'll let him into The Four Horsemen without another word! Woooo! He then introduces his handpicked opponent for Taylor and its..."The Candian Crippler" Chris Benoit!Match: Scott Taylor vs. Chris BenoitReferee: S.D. Jones It has to be said for young Scott Taylor; he looks more than a little worried at the announcement; but he doesn't back down. Arn argues with Flair at ringside as the match gets underway. Scott Taylor gets beaten all over the ring and Chris Benoit seems to delight in demolishing the young grappler whom he hits with several suplexes; never making the cover as he slams him about the ring! He then locks in the Crippler Crossface! Even though he screams in pain, Taylor refuses to tap! At this point Arn Anderson gets up onto the apron and argues with Benoit who just glares at him as he releases the hold and tries to get "The Enforcer" into the ring. S.D. Jones gets Arn to relent however and the savage Benoit puts the boots to his opponent punishing him some more before finally tiring of the game and hits him with not one, not two; but three consecutive German Suplexes before making the cover! He gets the win and Ric Flair enters the ring to raise his hand while a pissed off Arn and Tully enter the ring and peel Scott Taylor off the canvas. After the break we're brought to the ECW Banner where Terri Runnels is talking with the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase! She asks him about his announcement last week that he's come to stay in ECW and is looking at it's talent to find someone who's worthy of the caliber of managering expertise that the "Million Dollar Man" can bring. He says that he's looking at a few members of the roster closely; but has yet to make his selection. DiBiase also says he's been conferring with a number of superstars not currently signed with ECW about possibly bringing them in as well.Back from break Okerlund tells us that he's worked around Ted DiBiase for a long time and that nothing good could come from him being here. Lanny says that Gene said the same about him and Okerlund rests his case. We're the brought to a promo by the new Eastern States Champion the Junkyard Dog about his newly won Eastern States Championship! He barks before telling us all that he has heard all the talk. And he's just as surprised as everyone else to be wearing the belt at this point in his career. But he told Dickie Murdoch he'd win that Tournament for him and he did just that. He points to the belt and tells Murdoch this one's for you. He then says that he knows Regal is going to get his rematch and that Brimstone will be after him soon enough; but to that he says bring it. Because as he's proved these last coupla weeks, there's still more than a little fight in this here Dog!Match: Junkyard Dog vs. Joe E. Legend w/ Michele StarrReferee: Danny Davis Joe E. Legend looks impressive here as he gets more than his fair share of licks in against the Eastern States Champ Junkyard Dog, both with and without the help of his Tag-Team partner Michele Starr at ringside. JYD kicks out of a sidewalk slam however and when Legend tries to put the Dog to sleep, JYD rallies back and clocks Joe with a vicious headbutt before hammering away at the young grappler! Junkyard barks for the crowd as he takes the fight to Joe E. Legend who gets some offense in before being whipped into the ropes where JYD connects with the big boot! Joe E. Legend falls back into the ropes where Junkyard Dog hoists him into the air with some difficulty before finishing him off with the Thump! front powerslam! He makes the cover and picks up the win here tonight.Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event! They discuss the ECW Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, a man who certainly needs no introduction and his career, focusing on his time spent in ECW since coming in November of last year. First coming in on a one night only mission to help his friends in The Four Horsemen defeat Steve Corino's Omega Horsemen in a brutal War Games match at Wrestle Annual II before staying and going on to defeat "Ravishing" Rick Rude for the ECW Championship! They then talk about "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango, the man responsible for ending Rude's first reign with the Title and more recently costin "Macho Man" Randy Savage any Title opportunity in the immediate future. Tonight's match was originally scheduled to be for the ECW Title, but Ric Flair refused "The Soul Stealer" to fight him under those conditions; and perhaps with good reason. According to Gene back in April when Flair and Shango last locked up, "The Soul Stealer" took "The Nature Boy" to the limit and seemed to have the match all but won until outside interference by "Macho Man" Randy Savage caught Shango the match. One thing is for sure however, a win here for Papa Shango tonight would cement Papa Shango as the # 1 contender for the ECW Title. Whether Flair likes it or not. Voodoo drums the pound as the lights go out and mist fills the arena. In it's wake appears...
Gertner: The following non-Title contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from the Bowels of Hell weighing 270 lbs.; he is "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango!
Shango heads to the ring alone and gives out a war cry as he lets loose with some of his voodoo shenanigans inside the ring. Also Sprach Zarathustra then plays.
Gertner: And now introducing at this time from Charlotte, North Carolina weighing in at 243 lbs. he is the Eastern Heavyweight Champion; "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair!Main Event: Ric Flair vs. Papa ShangoReferee: S.D. Jones The match starts and Papa Shango is looking to lock up right away, but Ric Flair keeps false starting and backtracking him. Eventually "The Soul Stealer" gets fed up with this and charges Flair who takes him down with a drop toe hold; and keeping the voodoo priest grounded works him over for a bit! He picks Shango up to his feet, whips him across the ring and takes him down with a knee to the gut before whipping him again and lets Shango have it with a huge back body drop! Wooo! He struts about before applying a sleeper! And Papa begins to fade! Jones grabs his arm and raises it. It drops. He does it again and it drops. But the audience knows Flair is in trouble because Shango's eyes have sprung open! On the third drop his arm holds! And Papa Shango begins "summoning the spirits!"
He rallies back and throws Flair over his shoulder with a snapmare before hammering him across the ring! He drives "The Nature Boy" into the ropes and whips him across the ring before connecting with a big boot! And Shango isn't done as he hoists Flair up for a body slam! And he makes the cover! 1!... tw-
Flair kicks out! But Papa ain't done! He stomps the hell out of the ECW Champ as he tries to make it up to his feet! Unable to he slides out of the ring! He begins arguing with Jones outside the ring! The ref tells him to get back in and as he climbs onto the apron Papa Shango grabs Ric by his hair and clubs him with several vicious forearm shots to the back before suplexing him into the ring! He then let's out a war cry and climbing onto the Champ locks in the Camel Clutch! Flair grits his teeth in pain as he attempts to fight his way out while Shango keeping jumping on him! But Flair makes it to the ropes and as Jones separates them; Ric treats "The Soul Stealer" to a thumb to the eye!
And as Papa reacts, Flair grabs him and knees him in the face before running him face first into the turnbuckle! Ric then climbs up top and as Shango reels around drops him with a diving knee drop! Shin breaker. Shin breaker. Shin breaker. And Flair goes for the figure four! And he gets it! Shango screams in pain but reaches out to the ropes and finds them!
Jones breaks them up and Papa is busy nursing his injured leg as "Naitch" goes on the attack stomping it out! He grabs the ropes and uses it as he jumps and stomps "The Soul Steaker" before pulling him in for another figure four! But Shango kicks him in the face and leaping up slams Ric down to the mat with a clothesline! Papa Shango is slow to get up to his feet and he's favoring the leg as he tries to walk it off. This gives Flair enough time to get back to his feet and he begins hammering on Shango!
Papa fights right back and the two men are throwing down around the ring! Until Papa Shango drops him with a hard right hand! Flair hits the ground, pops back up and treated to another! Down again, this time Flair stays grounded as he chop blocks "The Stealer's" injured leg! Flair is styling and profiling now as he struts about the ring! He's letting out a Woooo!
But Papa Shango didn't wait for him and as Flair turns about he finds himself face to face with "The Soul Stealer!" Flair goes wide-eyed seconds before he gets kicked in the gut and layed flat with a swinging neckbreaker! And Shango makes the cover! 1!... 2!..
Flair gets his shoulder up! And as Papa Shango goes to stay on his target, "Naitch" rakes the eyes of the witch doctor! Shango reels from the blow while Ric rolls out of the ring! And he grabs his Title before heading up the ramp! S.D. Jones has begun the count and a recovered Papa Shango is ordering "The Nature Boy" back in the ring! Flair however has other plans and continues to shake his head defiantly as he back up the ramp and takes the loss via Count Out. And the...

7/27/96 - Nassau Coliseum Uniondale, NYBuck Zumhoff and the Honky Tonk Man thank of for joining the original Rock 'N Roll broadcasting team for another exciting edition of ECW Weekend Warriors, tonight coming to you live from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York! They then tell us they have an action-packed show for us tonight. The Eastern States Champion Junkyard Dog will be in action as will one-half of the Tag-Team Champions when "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer takes on Jason Knight! Also on tonight's card two Main Event caliber matches as ECW Women's Champion Tiffany defends the belt against "Gorgeous" Michele Starr and in an extreme Tag-Team Table match "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam and "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko will battle it out once and for all with Destruction Inc.! Joel Gertner makes the intros and Danny Davis officiates all matches.Match: Junkyard Dog vs. Flash Flanagan The Eastern States Champion Junkyard Dog comes down to the ring with a cowboy hat on his head and the Eastern States Championship slung over his shoulder! JYD gets to do a good bit of showboating for the fans barking and dancing his way around as he dominates Flash Flanagan who is allowed to get a little bit of offense in before Junkyard Dog hits the Thump! front powerslam for the win.Match: Tommy Dreamer w/ Beulah vs. Jason Knight Jason Knight gives "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer a decent fight here, getting a two count off a sitout suplex slam. After battling back and forth for a bit; Tommy Dreamer plants Jason Knight with a vicious looking DDT for the win. After the match he celebrates with Beulah McGillicutty.
A video clip featuring snippets from matches that took place this past Wednesday on the main show. We see "Too Cool" Brian Christopher hit Douglas Williams with the Hip Hop guillotine legDrop, Rick Rude lay out Matt Borne with the Rude Awakening and Pogo the Clown Bury Rude in the Basement, The Blitzkrieg whip Jeff Hardy right into a missile dropkick courtesy of Aryan von Raschke, Randy Savage flatten Doug Gilbert's head with a Piledriver, Christ Benoit hit Scott Taylor with three consecutive suplexes; and finally we're shown "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango drop Ric Flair with a swinging neckbreaker! The ECW Wednesday Nights logo then appears. Steve Corino and Jason Venom are in front of the ECW Banner with Terri Runnels who asks them about "Mr. Wrestling's" match with Homicide on last week's show. Corino points to the bruising about his neck from where Homicide choked him out with a camera cable last week and says that even when Mr. Rodriguez attempted to get "extreme" last week he couldn't get the job down and defeat someone the caliber of Steve Corino. A former ECW Heavyweight Champ. Because quite frankly the little Mexi-Queens aren't in the same league. In fact he's not even sure if they're in the same country, being their work visa probably got revoked following their suspension last week! That's right. Steve Corino didn't defeat that pint sized puta Homicide once last week, he defeated him twice. Because "Mr. Wrestling" is smarter than him. Luckily for Homicide and Hernandez however, Corino is also merciful. Because he talked Eric Bischoff to keeping them on the payroll! But only because he and his man Jason Venom want the opportunity to kick their asses again! Right here next week!Women's Title Match: Tiffany vs. Michele Starr Zumhoff has no idea what Corino is talking about as the ECW Women's Championship match gets underway. He seems to recall Corino on the verge of a hospital trip. Honky however explains to Buck that it was a moral victory. He did win by Disqualification after all. Something according to Buck, HTM knows a thing or two about. Inside the ring Tiffany trash talks "Gorgeous" Michele Starr a bit after hitting him with a hurrancanrana! He is hung up on the bottom rope as the Women's Champ charges across the ring and hits him with a Bronco Buster from behind. Buck and Honky both agree they've never been so envious of "The Gorgeous One!" And after dropping Michele with a Frankensteiner; Tiffany makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Joe E. Legend pulls Tiffany off his Tag-Team partner by her leg! This pisses the luchadora off and she argues with Joe who just shrugs as Tiffany is school boyed by Michele! 1!... 2!
The Women's Champ kicks out! And she springs back up! Leaping clothesline takes Starr down to the mat! And another cover! He throws her off of him and gets up to one knee. Tiffany is right on top of him, but Starr grabs her in a headlock and punches her in the face! Buck jumps up out of his seat while Michele puts the boots to the Women's Champ! He lifts her up and whips her across the ring! Standing dropkick and the cover! 1!... 2!...
Tiffany kicks out! Starr stomps Tiffany on the head before grabbing her by the hair and tosses her across the ring where she bounces up and hangs prone in the corner! Michele climbs up the second rope and he starts reigning down the punches! Nobody counts along and Buck has had enough! He heads over to the corner and climbs up onto the apron only to be pulled down by Joe E. Legend! Legend hammers on Buck a bit before hoisting him up onto his shoulder and runs him face first into the steel ring post! He's been busted open!
And inside the ring so has Tiffany. The fans are booing Michele Starr as he struts about the fallen Women's Champion who lays bleeding on the floor. "The Gorgeous One" then runs the ropes and lands The Falling Starr body splash on Tiffany! He hooks the leg and picks up the win. Michele Starr is the new Women's Champion!
After the match he gets on the microphone while holding his new Title and mocks Tiffany telling her that one of his makeover's won't even help her now. After the match we're taken back stage for Honky Tonk Man's "Shake, Rattle; and Roll" segment where he gets us ready for summer with Eddie Cochran and "The Summertime Blues!"Eddie Cochran - Summertime BluesZumhoff and HTM then welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event! They talk about the rivalry began between Destruction Inc. and "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko; which escalated when "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam came to Malenko's aide. Honky says that Van Dam had right sticking his nose in Mongo Vyle and Rhino's business and justice will be served if he gets a table put through him tonight. He then wonders where David Prazak's been? didn't even realize he was missing, but continues talking about Malenko/RVD's ongoing feud with Destruction Inc. which most recently ended in a DQ win for Inc. when "Mr. Wednesday Night" put Rhino through a table. A clip is played of the incident while Zumhoff informs us tonight that certainly won't be a problem seeing as the only way to win here tonight is for one team to put a member of the other team through a table! "Poundcake" by Van Halen the hits!
Gertner: The following Tag-Team match is scheduled for one fall and can only end when one of the participants is put through a table! Given the nature of this match, there will be no Disqualifications! Introducing first at a combined weight of 449 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by David Prazak; they are the team of "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam and "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko!
Van Dam poses for the fans who chant his name while Malenko stalks about the ring and Zumhoff plays "Where's Waldo?" telling us that he's spotted Prazak. "Fucking Hostile" by Pantera then assaults the arena.
Gertner: And now introducing their opponents this evening weighin a combined 596 lbs.; they are "The Man-Beast" Rhino and "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle; Destruction Inc.!Main Event Tag-Team Tables Match: Rob Van Dam/Dean Malenko vs. Destruction Inc.While the two teams decide who's starting the match off, HTM suggests that Vyle and Rhino are about twice the size of their opponents this evening and should be able to bulldoze through the duo. Mongo Vyle ends up starting things out with Dean Malenko and despite the obvious size difference; "The Lone Wolf" takes the fight right to "The Mauler!" The two men slug it out around the ring until Malenko lands an uppercut and grabbing Mongo by the head introduces Vyle's face to his knee. Staggering the big man, he follows this up with a dropkick that sends Mongo down to the mat. While Vyle uses the ropes to crawl to his feet, Dean tags in Rob Van Dam!
And running the ropes "Mr. Wednesday Night" starts things off hot with a Tiger Feint kick! He then heads up top and signals for the 5-Star Frog Splash! Buck reminds us that this would merely be softening Vyle up, considering there are no pinfall victories here tonight! But Van Dam never goes airborne as Rhino comes across the apron and knocking RVD down crotches him! This pisses Malenko off and grabbing "The Man-Beast" he begins brawling with him on the outside!
Meanwhile "The Machiavellan Mauler" is back up and heading to the corner busts Van Dam in the chops before climbing up to the second rope and hits him with a suplex! He goes to make the cover for a second, but then quickly gets to his feet and stomps the hell out of Rob! Meanwhile on the outside Dean is hammering Rhino's head into the steel barricade when "The Man-Beast" blocks it, lets Malenko have it with a back elbow and slams him face first into the steel! He then bludgeons the hell out of "The Lone Wolf's" back before throwing him onto Buck and Honky's table! Zumhoff questions the legality of putting him through the table, but HTM doesn't see a problem with it.
And climbing on top of the table himself Rhino pulls Dean up and looks to Piledrive him through it! But Malenko blocks it and counters by back body dropping Rhino out to the floor! He then hops off it, delivering a knee drop to the spine of "The Man-Beast!" Inside the ring Mongo Vyle is in full control, having delivered a double dose of Atomic Drops to Van Dam before whipping him into the ring where he took his head clean off with a clothesline! "The Mauler" is now outside where he slides a table out from under the ring and sets it up! He then climbs back inside and grabbing Rob up to his feet gets slapped away by "Mr. Wednesday Night!" Rob then hammers on his opponent, driving him back into the ropes before the whip and connects with a jumping corkscrew roundhouse kick! Both men are down.
Meanwhile on the outside Dean Malenko is busy hammering away on the head of "The Man-Beast" whom he dominated the last several minutes. But Rhino finally gets an opening and grabbing Dean by the head nails him with a sitout jawbreaker over his skull! Dean goes down and Rhino gets out of Dodge! And reaching into the crowd he steel's a chair from one of th fans! He then heads back over to Malenko and slams him over the head with it! And then over the back! He turns as the fans begin cheering and looks up only to find Rob Van Dam launching himself over the top rope onto him in a suicide dive!
Bodies are everywhere and Mongo Vyle who's still inside the ring recovers first. He slides out of the ring and grabs the first person he sees, rolling Dean Malenko into the ring! And climbing up onto the apron he is met by "The Lone Wolf!" With his back to the table, Vyle teeters on the apron while Malenko hammers on him! But soon Mongo is firing back and getting the better of his opponent he grabs Dean by the head, pops his hips; and launches Malenko to the outside! Right through the...
No! They missed the table! Malenko hits the floor. Hard. Rob Van Dam however is back up and headed there way. But Rhino charges him and Gores him from behind! "The Man-Beast" stands over the fallen Rob Van Dam and Mongo Vyle soon joins him as they hoist RVD into the air and signal for the Utter Destruction flapjack/cutter combo! They're going to put Rob through the table! But as they do it Van Dam is pulled down to the floor by...
David Prazak?! Honky says this guy is nuts as a gleeful Destruction Inc. hoist Prazak up into the air and put Prazak through the table inst...
Wait no! Dean Malenko is now up on the table and has leapt onto Mongo Vyle with a clothesline! He knocks "The Machiavellan Mauler" to the floor! But Rhino is right on top of "The Lone Wolf" and hammers on him for a bit before hoisting him into the air for a powerbomb! And Rhino heads over to the table! He slams Malenko down!
But Van Dam rushes in and kicks the table out from under them! Dean gets hammered into the floor instead! Rob meanwhile lifts up the table and a pissed off Rhino charges him! But Van Dam throws the table at Rhino! "The Man-Beast" attempts to catch it, but Rob Van Dam hits it with a spinning wheel kick! Rhino hits the ground with the table on top of him and Rob sets it back up! And hoisting Rhino up onto the table he lays him onto it before climbing up onto the apron. Showboating, he points to his shoulders while the fans chant "Rob!... Van!... Dam!" And he hits a moonsault! Through the table! Mongo Vyle has pulled Rhino out of the way and RVD crashes to the floor after breaking the table in two! "Mr. Wednesday Night" has just cost his team the match! Dean Malenko is back up now and he's pissed while Destruction Inc. backing their way up the ramp with "The Machiavellan Mauler" tapping his head and yelling back while the...

7/31/96 - The Knapp Center Des Moines, IA"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to The Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! They say they that ECW's first show from the Hawkeye state is a huge one, but first briefly recap the events from last week's show including Rick Rude's match with Matt Borne where he was attacked by the Circus of Doom before being rescued by Dean Malenko and "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam. They also talk about the challenge issued by the Baron's Ubermensch against the Tag-Team Champs Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer that they're coming for their Titles, reminding us that the duo are still owed a rematch after losing the Titles to Dreamer/Rhodes last year at Wrestle Annual II. But they mainly focus on the antics of ECW Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, recapping Chris Benoit's savage assault on Scott Taylor at Flair's behest as well as the huge Main Event match between Flair and "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango where Flair walked out; giving the win to Shango via Count Out. Gene isn't sure if a Count Out win earns "The Soul Stealer" a Title shot, but given the circumstances he thinks it should. Which is just another reason "The Genius" thinks Okerlund is an idiot.
They then hype tonight's big show which will see tons of Tag-Team action as the Circus of Doom take on The Hardy Boyz and the ECW Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer face off against The Bayou Boys in non-Title action! Also on the card the new Eastern States Champion Junkyard Dog will be in action as will the two former Champs as Sir William Regal goes one on one with "The Dark Prophet" Brimstone! And in a terrific Main Event Four Horsemen members "Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard will face Dark Circle heavies "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango and "Blackjack" Barry Windham!
Joel Gertner then makes the intros for the first match of the night.Match: Chris Benoit vs. Devon Hughes w/ Spike HughesReferee: Danny Davis Devon Hughes is a much bigger man than "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit's opponent last week, but Devon still looks a little nervous as the match begins. He holds his own early on, brawling about the ring with Benoit whom he knocks off his feet with his signature 360 degree corkscrew back elbow smash off the rebound of a whip. He keeps on top of Benoit for a little bit, but Chris battles out and a quick go behind changes the course of the match as he pops his hips and hits not one, not two; but three consecutive bridged German suplexes! Devon shocks the crowd however when he kicks out just before the three! He pops up to his feet and starts swinging blindly, but it's obvious he's in la la land as he does a Flair faceplant into the middle of the ring. Benoit doesn't let up and beats Devon down like a dog before locking in the Crippler Crossface! Devon looks too out of it to tap and Davis calls for the bell.
After the match Benoit tries to get little Spike Hughes in the ring with him, but the smaller Hughes Brother is just a bit too smart for that and "The Canadian Crippler" storms off without further incident while Spike checks on Devon who has sat up and is rubbing his head and neck. After the match we're taken in front of the ECW banner where Terri Runnels is talking with the current Eastern States Champion The Junkyard Dog! The Dog is all smiles in his cowboy hat as he displays the Title on his shoulder and tells us never in a million years did he think he'd be wearing this belt! But he's very proud to be a Champion in Eastern Championship and would like to thank all the little JYDs out there for supporting him during his matches! He then lets out a bark when into the screen comes...ECW President Eric Bischoff?! He congratulates JYD on his big win and informs him he'll be defending the Title for the first time at the Carver-Hawkey Arena right here in Iowa next week!Match: Junkyard Dog vs. Prince Nana Osei BandohReferee: S.D. Jones During the match Prince Nana Osei Bandoh appears on a split screen and talks about getting to face one of his childhood heros here tonight. Inside the ring he and Junkyard Dog shake hands before the match. Prince Nana gives JYD a fight, hitting him with his double body avalanche's in the corner before planting him with a bulldog. Junkyard Dog rallies back however and ends up putting Prince Nana away with the Thump! front powerslam. After the match he dances a bit and barks for the fans. We're then taken to the locker room of the Four Horsemen where Tully Blanchard enters to find Chris Benoit?! Back from the break Lanny and Gene are discussing Chris Benoit and if he's in the Four Horsemen. Okerlund knows that Arn Anderson certainly won't like this and Poffo reminds him that "The Enforcer" is not here tonight, having taken a personal day to take his protegee Scott Taylor to the hospital to get medically cleared after minor injuries sustained during his match with "The Canadian Crippler" here last week. They then talk again about how Rick Rude was attacked by the Circus of Doom who's scheduled to wrestle next. Circus music begins to play as a crazy spotlight circles about the arena settling on the ramp.Tag-Team Match: Matt Borne & Pogo the Clown vs. The Hardy BoyzReferee: Danny Davis Matt Borne starts things off tonight with Jeff Hardy in the ring. Despite some innovative offense by Jeff, Borne sends him packing after failing to put Hardy away with the Stump Puller single leg Boston Crab. He makes the tag to his brother Matt Hardy who immediately goes up top and connects with a missile dropkick on "The Ring Master!" He and Borne battle back and forth with Matt whipping Borne into the Hardy corner before tagging Jeff in and the duo set him up for Poetry in Motion which connects! Jeff follows this up with a bulldog for a two count. Borne is in a bit of trouble here as the Hardy's make with the quick tags; but when Matt Hardy hits him with a DDT and makes the cover, he is pulled from the ring by "Mad Dog" Luna Vachon! This pisses Matt off, but moreso Jeff who enters the ring charges across; and launches himself out with a tope dive!
Which Matt Borne who grabs Luna dodges! And Jeff crashes into the steel barricade! Then climbing up onto the apron, Borne tags Pogo the Clown in by slapping him in the face! The big man begins giggling maniacally as he enters the ring only to be attacked by Matt Hardy! The Clown no-sells Hardy's offense however before smacking and throwing the young grappler about the ring before Burying Him in the Basement! Matt then wants the tag and going up top hits a legdrop and picks up the win for the Circus of Doom!Just then however Rick Rude's strip theme hits! He doesn't have his robe as he comes out onto the ramp, but he does have a mic as he tells us that he's glad to see that the Circus is in town. Because he wants big dumbass clown shoes there in the ring right here, right now! Borne seems to like this idea when suddenly Rude is jumped from behind?!It's Destruction Inc.! Knocking Rude to the floor they stomp the hell out of him while "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango picks the microphone off the floor and having Vyle sit Rude up on the ramp he gets in his face and shouts "Paaaaapaaaa Shaaaaaaangooooo! The voodoo drums then hit as ECW goes to..."Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Carver-Hawkey Arena in Iowa City, Iowa and that while tickets for the show are sold out, those folks left at home should tune in right here on Eastern Championship's home station of TNN The Nashville Network to catch all the exciting ECW action live! They also remind us to tune in this Saturday for ECW Weekend Warriors where two big matches have been signed, the team of Steve Corino and Jason Venom will face the Mexi-Kings in Tag-Team action and Eastern States Champion Junkyard Dog will be in the Main Event!Match: Brimstone vs. William RegalReferee: S.D. Jones The announcers talk about the history of these two men in the early going. Neither man gives one another an inch as they slug it out. Regal takes the worst of it due to the superior strength of Brimstone; but he keeps coming and gives as good as he gets. Finally "The Dark Prophet" gets the drop on Sir William however and whips him into the ropes before connecting with a big boot! Regal however ducks it and Brimstone gets hung up on the top rope! Regal grabs his other leg however and dumps him to the outside! The fans cheer and Regal gives a little victory jog about the ring, but Brimstone has caught himself on the apron and getting back to his feet he sizes William up and launches himself over the top rope with a slingshot clothesline! Regal is down as the big man pulls him to his feet, bludgeons his back and hammers him into the canvas with a powerbomb! He makes the cover!
But he only comes away with a one count. Brimstone isn't deterred however and pulling Regal up to his feet by his hair while the ref protests, he runs him head first into the corner! He begins hammering Regal's head into the turnbuckle, but finally William blocks it, escapes with a back elbow; and hops up top. He then lays Brimstone out with a Tornado DDT! He's unable to make the cover however as the big man is too close to the ropes and drags him across the ring before looking to lock in the Boston Crab. Brimstone however rolls over and kicks Regal away sending him across the ring and into the ropes! Brimstone is back up, monstrous back body drop! He turns and as William bounces to his feet he takes him down with a clothesline! Then another! When he goes for a third however, Regal ducks it and takes Brimstone's legs out from under him with a chop block! From there he keeps Brimstone grounded, using submission holds to work over the big man's head and neck. Brimstone keeps attempting to battle out, but Regal keeps hammering him down. Finally he locks in the Regal Stretch arm trap cross-legged STF! But Bristone puts the breaks on it and fights his way to his feet before the hold can be locked in! Caught off guard Regal is hammered back across the ring! Brimstone whips Regal into the ropes and the man from Black Pool eats a big boot! "The Dark Prophet" makes the cover! 1!... 2!..
Regal kicks out! He's in a daze as he gets to his feet and Brimstone hoists him up off his feet, setting him up for the Tomb Stone Piledriver! But Sir William squirms free and landing on the mat connects with a European uppercut! He then kicks Brimstone in the gut, pulls him in and hits him with a suplex! It's Brimstone's turn to be dazed and confused as he tries to catch a breather on one knee, only to be dragged up from behind and hit with the Regal bridging leghook belly to back suplex! 1!...
Brimstone kicks free! Brimstone is back up on one knee as Regal begins raining down the punches! He hammers away until "The Dark Prophet" shoves him back into the ropes! Regal however charges right back in and kicks Brimstone in the face, grabs his head, punches him in it; and hits a DDT on Brimstone who's still on one knee! He hooks the leg! 1!... 2!
Brimstone powers out! Regal is thrown across the ring. "The Prophet" is back up and begin slugging it out with Regal who drives Brimstone into the corner where he climbs up onto the second turnbuckle and begins hammer on him! 1! 2! 3! 4! 5! 6! 7! The fans count along until Brimstone hoists Regal up off the top rope, spins him about and hits him hard with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker! Brimstone is down on all fours and takes a little to long to get back up. When he does a dazed William Regal is up and looking to pound his face in! He gets off several shots before Brimstone shoots his arm out and grabs Regal by the throat! William attempts to fight it, but he gets Chokeslammed to Hell! Brimstone makes the cover and he picks up a huge win here tonight! Brimstone then gets on the microphone and begins...
Because I could not stop for Death— He kindly stopped for me- The Carriage held but just Ourselves— And Immortality. Dean Malenko is arguing with Rob Van Dam in the back. He's angry that "Mr. Wednesday Night's" showboating this past Saturday cost them their match against Destruction Inc. And before things get stressed between the duo anymore, Malenko wants out. David Prazak approaches and tries to smooth things over. He tells Malenko he understands tha he's angry with RVD; but Prazak has some good news for "The Lone Wolf." He's set up a match later tonight for Dean Malenko to take on the ECW Light Heavyweight Champ; "Too Cool" Brian Christopher!Tag-Team Match: Tommy Dreamer & Dustin Rhodes vs. The Bayou BoysReferee: Danny Davis Cousin Jamie starts things out with Dustin Rhodes and the two men battle back and forth in this non-Title contest. Jamie gets a two count on "The American Nightmare" after hitting a belly to back suplex and later attempts to take Rhodes out with a guillotine choke. Dustin is no slouch of course and hits a sidewalke slam for a one count and a bulldog off the second rope for a two count while the Okerlund talks about how big a win could be for the Bayou Boys here tonight. When Jamie whips Dustin into the ropes and looks to connect with a back body drop, Rhodes stops, drops; and staggers Jamie with an uppercut before tagging in Tommy Dreamer!
Grabbing Cousin Jamie from behind Tommy hits him with a DDT before making the cover, but only gets a two. It's just the beginning of Jamie's trouble as "The Innovator of Violence" works him over! He finally catches a break however when Doug Gilbert who's been makes eyes at Beulah McGillicutty the whole match, starts blowing her kisses and making inappropriate gestures which distracts Dreamer enough for Jamie to catch him with a backslide! 1!... 2!...
Dreamer kicks out! He goes right back after Jamie who hits him with a quick kick to the gut before making the tag to "The Redneck Rebel!" Doug Gilbert comes in on fire and knocks Dreamer to the mat with a double dose of leaping clotheslines before giving him a one way ticket to the Clawhold! Tommy fights it however and Doug begins alternatingly pounding his head in before locking he Claw back on. Dreamer fights to his feet however and Doug kicks him in the gut before looking to hit a DDT. Tommy however powers out and sends Gilbert airborne with a big back body drop! While Doug bounces and stumbles into the corner Tommy tags Dustin back in!
Dustin Rhodes immediately runs into the corner and nails Doug with the Shattered Dreams running lowblow! Luckily for him Davis was too distracted by Beulah to see it. Who wouldn't be? From there he hoists Gilbert up to his feet and nails him with a suplex, but only gets a two. Though Doug gets a little offense in here and there, Dustin Rhodes dominates most of the remainder of the match before nailing Doug Gilbert with the Lone Star State of Mind lifting falling DDT for the three count. After the win Tommy and Dustin celebrate with Beulah as the two men take a sip of liquor from Rhodes' flask. Just then however chaos hits the ring as...The Ubermensch strike! While they work over Dustin, Tommy helps Beulah from the ring and turning to help his partner walks right into the Sieg Heil! superkick from Aryan von Raschke! Dustin Rhodes meanwhile has seen better days as The Blitzkrieg hoists him up onto his shoulders and hits him with The Muscle Buster! With the Tag-Team Champs laid out, the Baron gets on the microphone and tells Fraulein McGillicutty when the two drunks wake up, she should remind them that his Ubermensch never got their rematch back in December! And to restore honor to the great Republic of Germany they want it now!Match: Brian Christopher vs. Dean MalenkoReferee: S.D. Jones "Too Cool" Brian Christopher who comes to the ring with Jacqueline Moore is a bit overconfident as he starts things off with "The Lone Wolf" Dean Malenko who after some initial back and forth gets the drop on the ECW Light Heavyweight Champion. He works him over a bit, hitting him with a powerbomb off the second rope for a two count and a suplex for just over a one. Christopher manages a bit of a comeback however with a surprise standing dropkick to Malenko and gets in some offense before going for the superkick! Dean Malenko catches the Champ's leg however and dragging him down to the mat locks in the Texas Cloverleaf for the Submission victory! David Prazak comes in and raises Malenko's hand while a stunned Christopher looks on. Okerlund says that Christopher had better watch out next time he and "The Lone Wolf" face off, because Malenko has just earned himself a shot at the Title!Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event! They talk mostly about Ric Flair's two matches with Papa Shango, both of which "The Soul Stealer" came close to defeating the ECW Champ. Last week he won by Count Out after Flair bailed from the ring. Tonight's match scheduled by ECW President Eric Bischoff after last week's show will see Ric Flair team with fellow Horseman Tully Blanchard against the team of "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango and former Flair ally "Blackjack" Barry Windham! If either of these men were to pin the Champ here tonight, they'd be guaranteed a future shot at the Title. Just then the lights go out and mist fills the arena whil voodoo drums pound.
Gertner: The following Tag-Team contest is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first weighing a combined 490 lbs. they are Dark Circle members "Blackjack" Barry Windham and "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango!
Shango lets out his war cry as he heads down to the ring with a very serious looking Windham. Referee Danny Davis looks like he'd rather be anywhere else.
Gertner: And now introducing their opponents this evening. Weighing a combined 468 lbs.; they are Tully Blanchard and the Eastern Heavyweight Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair!Main Event: Ric Flair & Tully Blanchard vs. Papa Shango & Barry WindhamReferee: Danny Davis There's some confusion, first because the Horsemen don't appear on the ramp; and then when they do it's only Tully Blanchard?! Tully heads down to ringside and exchanges a few hostile words with Shango when "Also Sprach Zarathustra" hits! And out comes....
Nobody? Blanchard doesn't seem to to know what the hell is going on and neither do the announcers. They seem stunned when they inform us that they just received word Ric Flair isn't even in the building?! Just then however the Dark Circle seemingly have gotten impatient when Barry Windham attacks Tully Blanchard on the outside! He beats him down, pulls him up; and rolls him back into the ring!
Though caught off-guard, once inside the ring Tully doesn't back down to Papa Shango who cackles maniacally and rattles his voodoo staff about menacingly! Just then Blanchard seems to realize someone's behind him and turns right into a vicious lariat courtesy of "Blackjack" Barry Windham! The two men begin stomping the hell out of Tully! Okerlund says this attack is disgusting and wants to know just where in the damned hell is Ric Flair?! The two Dark Circle members then pull Tully to his feet and whip him hard into the corner and letting out a shriek, Papa Shango nails him with a body avalanche before dropping Blanchard with a swinging neckbreaker!
Blanchard is in rough shape already, but Barry Windham isn't done as he pulls him back up to his feet. And Tully fires back with several punches! But Shango is right there to attack him from behind and the duo begin stomping him out again! Okerlund is wondering what happened to Ronnie Garvin and his security team when we're brought backstage where another disturbance has broken out! In the back bodies are strewn about! It's the security team! And the rest of the Dark Circle is there! Mongo Vyle is laying in punches on Ronnie Garvin while Rhino holds him up! Meanwhile inside the ring, Barry Windham sets Tully Blanchard up on the top turnbuckle while Papa Shango gets out a table! He's going to superplex Blanchard through it!
