EL HIJO DEL SANTO + OCTAGON V TITAN SPORTS, INC w/The Natural

Santo and Octagon fight valiantly, mesmerizing, confusing and outsmarting the much larger Titans with kicks, fast moves and flying maneuvers, but quickly, the larger size of the less experienced and slow moving but much larger Titans starts to prevail, and they start wailing on the smaller world champions, and seem to be this close to winning it all right here on Inferno!

They isolate the tiny El Hijo del Santo, and start pulverizing him, playing keep away with him, illegally double teaming while Tirantes turns a blind eye, and try to score near pinfall after near pinfall on him, but each time the clever Santo slips away, which inspires the fans, but cant quite make that tag, and finally Atomic Titan nails Santo with a power bomb, BUT OCTAGON OFF THE TOP ROPE WITH A FLYING MARTIAL ARTS KICKS TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD OF ATOMIC TITAN, AND THEN A SPIN KICK TO THE GUT OF BIG TITAN, AND FANS, OCTAGON IS USING HIS MARTIAL ARTS SKILLS TO FEND OFF THE BIGGER MEN OFF THE HIS ALLY, SANTO, AND THE SAVE ALLOWS SANTO TO CRAWL BACK TO HIS SIDE OF THE RING!

Octagon comes back and tags in, and continues the offensive on the bigger Titans, and in desperation, The Natural stands on the ring apron and hits Octagon on the back of the head, earning a warning from even the evil Tirantes! The distraction allows Big Titan to put Octagon over his shoulder, as Natural hands Atomic Titan a chair, and Big Titan charges at Atomic Titan who swing that chair. . .

NO! Octagon ducks, and pushes off Big Titans shoulders, and escapes, forcing Atomic Titan to hit his own partner with a chair! What a miscue!

OCTAGON HOOKS BIG TITANS LEGS UP, AND LEANS BACK, SECOND REFEREE PEPE CASAS COUNTS:

AAA Inferno was taped 2/5/94 at Chicago Stadium for broadcast on Univision 2/8 and syndicated TV the weekend of 2/12

Commentators were Chris Cruise and Terry Taylor, referees Tirantes and Pepe Casas, with Spanish language and ring announcing by Dr. Alphonse Morales and Arturo Rivera.

The TV show opened with Chris Cruise announcing that there would be THREE 6 man tag team matches on the program:

The show opens with UNIVERSO 2000 + MASCARA ANOS DOS MIL + PCICOSIS V ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS + REY MISTERIO JR. The idea behind the match was more to put over the California Conflict Pcicosis v Rey Misterio match, as both wrestlers traded some amazing spots the majority of the match. The ending saw Universo foul Ricky Morton, and get the ill gotten pin fall while Tirantes of course saw nothing and did the fast count, setting up the Rock n Rolls looking for revenge at the California Conflict PPV. OK for what it was, and at least they let Psicosis and Rey Misterio do most of the work, ***

Overall, it’s a very strong card with some very good storyline to build up the main matches. Not quite sure why I should care who the mystery opponent is in the 6 man (though its pretty obvious who it will be), and while Jerry Lynn versus Billy Black should be a dynamite match, but they have been off TV for weeks.

After the break, there was another sleazy plug for the AAA hotline, with Chris Cruise plugging that California Conflict going to break PPV records, and you should call the 1-900 number to find out what they are, and you will want to buy California Conflict and be part of history. Great, so not only do I have to shell out my hard earned money for another Chris Cruise come on, but then get to shell out another $25 for the pay per view.

The next match is STEINERS + BRIAN PILLMAN V TITAN SPORTS INC w/The Natural + AL SNOW w/Miss Toni. As you might expect, Al Snow was the workhorse of his team, though The Steiners did a good job bouncing off the Titans, who to their credit, seem to get better each week. The match started out with a wild brawl, expected because of the storyline heart between all 6 men. Pillman walloped Snow outside the ring. The Steiners and Titans traded offense back and forth, but they also ended up out of the ring. Snow had an assist from Toni outside the ring, and punished Brian Pillman with high spots. They worked well together, and their California Conflict match should be strong. The ending saw both Pepe Casas and Tirantes wave their hands in the air and DQ all 6 wrestlers for brawling outside the ring in a wild match. ***

After the commercial break, Blue Panther and Madonna’s Boyfriend were interviewed from backstage and they announced the recently turned heel Disco Inferno would be their tag team partner versus Vampiro, 2 Cold and Jushin Liger last California Conflict.

It was now time for the main event:

KONNAN + EL HIJO DEL SANTO + OCTAGON V CIEN CARAS + LOS GRINGOS LOCOS
Konnan was the last to be introduced, and limped noticeably in his ring entrance, selling his hip injury at the hands of Dean Malenko. This was to be the take it home match before California Conflict and it delivered. Caras and Locos drew major heat from the Chicago crowd, with Caras playing keep away from Konnan, but right before the commercial break, Locos set up Konnan for Caras to attack his hip with a kick, and work it over as we went to the dramatic break.

Chris Cruise announced a commercial break.

When we came back, Caras is stomping on Konnans hip that was injured by Malenko, with Santo and Octagon desperately trying to tag in and Los Gringos Locos taunting them. The heat from the crowd was incredible. Konnan finally somersaulted out of trouble and made the hot tag, allowing Santo and Octagon to make the hot offense on the heels.

Meanwhile, outside the ring, as Konnan was trying to shake off the pain in his hip, Dean Malenko ran down to ringside, but Konnan punches him out, and got on the ring apron, and got the crowd behind Santo and Octagon. Konnan finally tagged in, and out Cien Caras in a crucifix submission for the win as the program went black. ***1/2

Al Snow is interviewed backstage with Toni. Snow puts both Cien Caras and Konnan on notice that he will be taking the AAA World title after he beats Brian Pillman.

2. VAMPIRO + 2 COLD SCORPIO + JUSHIN LIGER V DISCO INFERNO + MADONNA’S BOYFRIEND + BLUE PANTHER
Good solid 6 man, about what you’d expect with the quality wrestlers in this one. Finish saw Disco Inferno pin Vampiro with his feet on the ropes at 14:23, ****

Brian Pillman is interviewed. He says that the whatever it could possibly be that attracts someone as hot as Miss Toni to Al Snow will be erased when Brian Pillman remains the #1 contender for the world title, and Pillman vows to get revenge on Snow for costing him his title match with Cien Caras on Inferno by beating him and taking his girl.

3. PCICOSIS V REY MISTERIO, JR
I can't put in words the incredible athleticism of these athletes. Here’s what this match would have looked like:

Pcicosis wins this one after 14:23 minutes of solid work. ****

Eddie Guererro and Love Machine are interviewed. Eddie tells Taylor if he is noce to them, they won't beat him up again. Love Machine says they are going to win the AAA World titles for all the great American fans, and too bad that all the Mexican fans wont get to see them defend the world tag team titles since they will never go down to Mexico to defend them, and that the only way for the Mexican wrestling fans to see then, they will have to swim over the border to see their matches.


4. UNIVERSO 2000 + MASCARO ANOS DOS MIL V ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS
It’s a challenge enough when you try and mix a Southern style wrestling team with luchadores in the ring. When all four wrestlers are old, it’s even worse. Rock n Rolls tried to draw heat, but the crowd wasn't that into them, and it was clear there was poor communication in the ring. It also doesn’t help that Mascaro Anos dos Mil is almost as bad a worker as Cien Caras. 2000 and Mil take this one at 10:00 of the worst wrestling of the night.

Titan Sports Inc and The Natural are interviewed. The Natural vows that his tag team will beat the Steiner Brothers, and that win will pave the way to their becoming the new AAA World tag team champions.


5. AL SNOW w/Miss Toni V BRIAN PILLMAN
The stip is Brian Pillman forfeits his house shows title matches coming up if he loses. Pillman all over Snow at the beginning of the match. Snow tries to run; Pillman gives chase but is distracted by Toni. We've seen this spot before: She yells at him, while Pillman puckers up. Toni slaps Pillman, Pillman smiles and approaches Toni, but is sundayed by Al Snow who was lying in the weeds.

Now its Pillmans turn to pay the price. Snow with hot move after hot move. Snow goes for the springboard frogsplash, but Pillman rolls out, Snow misses. Pillman with Air Pillman, connects, covers, Snow kicks out. Pillman dropkicks Snow, goes for the leaping thrusting lariat, takes down Snow, cover, Snow kicks out. Pillman goes for a missile dropkick, Snow scouts it, grabs Pillmans foot and slams his knee to the mat, and gives Pillman a wheelbarrow suplex.

Cover, kick out by Pillman. Snow on the top rope, turns around for a moonsault, Pillman gets up, and catches Snow and gives him a running body slam off the top rope, and goes to cover, 1-2-KICK OUT!

Pillman to the top rope with a flying corkscrew, covers Snow, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7- . .

TONI IS ON THE RING, AND IS FLIRTING WITH TIRANTES! TIRANTES hoping for a repeat of his hotel trist!

Pillman gets up, walks over, and lays a BIG KISS ON TONI! TONI LIKES IT! TONI LIKES IT!!!! SHE PUTS HER ARM AROUND PILLMAN, AND THEY ARE MAKING OUT! Snow Sundays Pillman, nails him with a seated spinebuster, and then a DDT and covers:

1-2-3!!!!!!

Snow wins the title matches, and Toni runs into the ring . . . but right past Snow, and checks on Pillman, but Al grabs her arm, and whisks her away.

Winner, Al Snow, 18:45 ***1/2

Rick and Scott Steiner are interviewed. Scott says no one messes with the Steiner Brothers, and they are prepared to finish off Titan Sports, Inc. once and for all tonight at California Conflict.


6. RICK + SCOTT STEINER V ATOMIC TITAN + BIG TITAN w/ The Natural
The match starts out as an out of control brawl, things get back in control, and Rick and Scott Steiner did the best they could with Atomic Titan. but Big TITAN DID MOST OF THE WORK WITH Scott, and they worked well together. Finish saw the Natural do a miscue accidentally nailing Atomic Titan with a left hook that was meant for Scott, who tagged into Rick who covered Atomic Titan, Big Titan walked in for the save, but was nailed by a Scott Steiner frankensteiner as Pepe Casas made the three count, the Steiners win at 9:11.

Good for what it was, **1/2

Footage is shown of Cien Caras stretching and warming up, with his brothers Universo 2000 and Mascaro Anos dos Mil cheering him on by yelling loudly in Spanish, as Universo holds the AAA World title belt over his head for the camera to see.

7.AAA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP, 2/3 FALLS
EL HIJO DEL SANTO + OCTAGON V EDDIE GUERERRO + LOVE MACHINE
Los Gringos Locos came to the ring first, baiting the fans with swimming motions. Santo and Octagon came out to a huge response.

FIRST FALL: Guererro and Love Machine attack the champions before the bell, and throw Octagon out of the ring, and Love machine posts him. El Hijo del Santo battles both Los Gringos Locos valiantly, but is overwhelmed and is double pinned at 5:45 as Octagon slowly recovers.

SECOND FALL: Eddie and Love Machine work over Santo, and start tearing at his mask and trying to take it off, which gets major heat from the fans. Octagon gets back on the ring apron tries to save Santo, but is stopped by Tirantes every time as Eddie and Octagon make phantom tags. Finally at 8:11 Santo, mask in tatters, outsmarts the heels and somersaults and makes the hot tag, the crowd pops as Octagon destroys both Eddie and Love Machine with martial arts, and defeats Love Machine with La Estrela at 9:14 to even the falls at one each.

THIRD FALL: With Octagon in control, he scores several near falls on Love Machine, but Love Machine kicks out the first time, has his leg put on the rope by Guererro the second, and Eddie makes a save by Frog splashing on top of Octagon the third time. Octagon is stunned, and is forced to tag to Santo. Santo is eager to avenge himself and mixes it up well with both Machine and Guerrero.

Santo and Octagon tag often, and well, but can’t put either Guererro or Machine away and leave with the tag team titles. Octagon has Eddie Guererro on the mat, and goes to the top turnbuckle for a highspot, Love Machine goes over and kicks his leg, and Octagon tumbles to the mat, holding his leg, Eddie Guererro grabs it and whips it, and knee drops it, and throws Octagon out of the ring while Santo charges to make the save, outside the ring, Love Machine plants Octagon with the timekeepers bell, which is seen by Tirantes, who does nothing, and Pepe Casas is busy untangling Eddie and Santo.

Machine throws Octagon into the ring, and Eddie cradles up the unconscious Octagon, Tirantes with a fast count:

WE HAVE NEW AAA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, TIRANTES hands the belts to the new champions as Santo checks on Octagon, while Eddie and Love Machine walk out of the ring and taunt the fans, and celebrate their new titles!

Winners, and NEW AAA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, Eddie Guererro and Love Machine, 15:12 of the third fall. ****


Chris Cruise announces that the next AAA Pay Per View will be TRIPLEMANIA ’94, and will be live from Houston, Texas on May 8.

Terry Taylor is joined backstage by Konnan.

Konnan says he feels 100%, and promises this will not be a repeat of his retirement match versus Cien Caras, or his AAA world title match. Tonight is a product of months of hard work and training, and he has waited his entire career for this moment, and promises the fans that he will not let them down.


8. AAA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
CIEN CARAS V KONNAN, 2/3 FALLS

Konnan comes in first, and gets a standing ovation from the crowd, Cien Caras comes into the ring with his brothers, Universo 2000 and Mascara Anos Dos Mil to ELPs "Touch and Go", and this is one of the best ring entrances ever in wrestling.

FIRST FALL: Cien Caras attacked Konnan before the bell and bloodied him. Konnan did the superman, but Dos Mil and Universo came to the ringside, and attacked Konnan after Caras grabbed his singlet and threw him out of the ring, and then distracted the referee, who of course was Tirantes. Universo and Mil threw Konnan back into the ring, and Caras won the first fall with a crucifix pin at 5:23, to set up a complaint should Konnan win the title (ie, he won the first fall, if it were a one fall match, he'd still be champion, blah blah blah).

SECOND FALL: Pepe Casas came to the ringside area, and after an argument with Tirantes, ordered the Caras brothers to vacate the ringside area, which they did after much argument. Caras was distracted by this, which allowed Konnan to Sunday him, and waylays him with a pin to capture the second fall at 3:11. So far, this is looking like a repeat of their disastrous career versus career match, one of the worst in history.

THIRD FALL: Konnan is fired up, and corners Caras, who seems to be begging for time, and as Konnan plays to the crowd, Caras kicks him in the stomach, and like a cornered animal, seems to be a man possessed. He is wild eyed, and throws kicks, punches, and axe handles and eye rakes, gouges and low blows at this challenger ins a desperate attempt to retain the world heavyweight title.

Caras works on Konnan's cut, and demands Tirantes look at it. Tirantes oscillates his hand as if to say “so-so” we need more blood to stop the match, so the ruthless Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World throws a stunned Kennan out of the ring, and steps out, and grabs a chair and slams it across his back. Tirantes warns Caras, but Caras threatens Tirantes with the chair, but seeing the world champion is desperate, decides to back off.

Caras hits Konnan with it again, and throws it to the side, and picks up Konnan, and goes to post him:

NO! KONNAN REVERSES, AND CARAS GOES RIGHT INTO THE POST!!!! CARAS GETS UP AND IS BUSTED WIDE OPEN!!!!

THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION IS BUSTED WIDE OPEN!!!!! Konnan regains his senses and throws Caras back into the ring, and stalks Caras as Caras, blinded by his blood on his face, swings wildly around, and Konnan gets Caras in a full nelson.

Meanwhile at ringside, once again, its Universo 2000 and Mascara Anos dos Mil, who try to come back to ringside, but Pepe Casas blocks their way, with Tirantes looking on at the confrontation and not the match, allowing:

. . . . . "THE ICEMAN" DEAN MALENKO, bought and paid for by Cien Caras, to run in, and Sunday Konnan, and give him a modified abdominal stretch, and copperfields right before Tirantes turns around. Konnan is now selling the hip injury he suffered at Malenkos hands on Inferno 3 weeks back!

Caras regains his faculties, and flops on top of Konnan, and covers, Titrantes with a fast count, but Konnan kicks out. Caras elbow drops Konnan, hooks the leg, Tirantes fast count 1-2 . . .

KONNAN KICKS OUT. Konnan not only kicks out, but also kips up, and clenches his first and yells, which gets a crowd reaction, and Konnan now with another Superman, except he is limping, holding his hip. Konnan and Caras battle toe-to-toe, trading blows. Caras bounces off the rope to go for a clothesline, Konnan instead catches him, and nails Caras with a belly to belly suplex, and as Anos Dos Mil and Universo push Pepe Casas out of the way, and enter the ring, Tirantes makes the slowest three count you have ever seen;

Winner of the third fall, and new AAA World heavyweight Champion, Konnan, 11:13 of third fall.

The first two falls were awful and there were too many run ins in the third, but at least it was an entertaining finish, **

TV opens with new AAA World heavyweight Champion Konnan being interviewed in the middle of the ring by Terry Taylor. Konnan sez he doesn’t respect Cien Caras' tactics, but says he respects him for putting the title on the line against him, and reveals as part of the deal to get the title shot last night at California Conflict, he will honor his contract stating he will defend the title against Caras across the country in the AAA Conflict Across America Tour. Konnan warns Caras to face him one on one, and leave his brothers out of it, or he will be sorry. Konnan promises to give Los Dinamita Hermosos a taste of what they will be in for if they interfere in these house shows when he defends the world title against Mascaro anos Dos Mil later tonight in the TV main event.

This transitions to the TripleTron, where stills of the Disco Inferno-Blue Panther-Madonna’s Boyfriend v Liger-2 Cold –Vampiro match are show with Disco winning with his feet on the ropes pinning Vampiro. This leads to the next match:

BILLY BLACK + MADONNA’S BOYFRIEND + DISCO INFERNO V JERRY LYNN + JOHNNY SMITH + VAMPIRO
Vampiro is eager to tag in to avenge his loss from last night to the newly turned Inferno. Billy Black and Jerry Lynn trade spots which are a reminder of last nights match, Chris Cruise makes it clear to all who will listen Black beat Lynn last night and it was the biggest win of his career.

Vampiro and Disco get into a wild brawl, with Vampiro eventually chasing Disco to the back, setting up their eventual program. The finish sees Jerry Lynn avenge his loss from last night with a cradle tombstone piledriver off a Billy Black missed moonsault for the win.

This weeks sleazy Chris Cruise 1-800 come on is if you call you find out exactly what Konnan means by making Cien Caras sorry if his brothers interfere (rumors are this is a set up for a Konnan-Caras steel cage match at Triplemania).

Brian Pillman is interviewed by Terry Taylor back stage. Photos are shown of how Al Snow defeated Pillman, and cost him his title shots he had lined up against either Konnan or Cien Caras in April. Brian Pillman said that starting tonight, he will work his way back to the title contention ladder and take Al Snows dignity and his girl, Miss Toni.

Konnan wins, but then Universo 2000 and Cien Caras run in. Konnan give all three a beatdown, but Konnan is eventually overwhelmed. El Hijo del Santo and Octagon make the save as the show goes dark. Konnans music plays, and everyone goes home happy.

(I have a clue for you----if AAA signs ONE of these wrestlers, it will be a miracle, but why ruin a chance to fleece your customer out of $1.99 a minute?)

Disco Inferno and Dean Malenko are interviewed. Disco says he doesn’t have to worry about being bullied by Vampiro anymore, like he did 2 weeks ago because Dean Malenko is his new tag team partner, bought and paid for, and challenges Vampiro to pick a tag team partner and face them right here, this week on INFERNO!!!!

After the final match, Disco Inferno and Dean Malenko enter the ring, and Vampiro comes out to his Sisters of Mercy theme music, and then announces his tag team partner will be:

KONNAN +VAMPIRO V DEAN MALENKO + DISCO INFERNO

Dean Malenko does not looked pleased with Disco that Konnan has accepted to wrestle with Vampiro. The bell rings, and the heat is apparent as Konnan wants a piece of Malenko, and tags in, but Malenko is very cautious to go after Konnan, it is clear Malenko is not as comfortable going after his foes when they are prepared to wrestle!

Malenko finally tags to a somewhat incredulous Disco, who is not happy either when Konnan tags out to VAMPIRO! Vampiro catches Disco and throws him pillar to post, Inferno tags to Malenko who ducks under Vampiro and shoots in on his arm, and seems to injure Vampiro, and works him over, and at this point Inferno insists on being tagged in to the disgust of Malenko.

Inferno attacks Vampiro's arm, which only serves to infuriate Vampiro who does a superman, decks Inferno, and tries to pin him but Malenko makes the save, then tags himself in, and Inferno tags in and Malenko begs off but IT IS GOING DOWN, and Konnan gets tons of offense on Malenko, this is the first time we have seen Malenko on the back foot on AAA TV.

Malenko slithers to the ringside area, and Konnan gives chase, eager to avenge Malenkos mercenary attempts to injure him on the Cien Caras payroll. Vampiro and Disco enter the ringside area and get involved, but end up brawling, and Pepe Casas and Tirantes both declare this one a double CO, but Konnan and Vampiro are clearly brawling and backing up Disco and Malenko to the heel dressing room as the show goes to BLACK.
