VTR: WELCOME TO THE POWER HOUR
Lance Russell, Dave Brown and Gordon Solie join us from ringside here for ‘The Power Hour’, where we have a huge card for oir great fans watching all across the Southeast. As promised last week, we’ll have a 10-man tag team main event as The Stud Stable’s Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden, Bill Dundee, Roy Lee Welch and Bull Pain face off with Dutch Mantell, Dirty White Boy and three mystery partners. Plus, Gordon Solie will have a special in ring interview with Southern Heavyweight Champion Tommy ‘Wildfire’ Rich.
TV Match #1: Southern Jr. Heavyweight Championship
Nelson Royal (c) vs. Pat Rose
‘Magic Man’ Pat Rose has held the Alabama Jr. Heavyweight Title in the past, and really gives Royal a run for his money here. However, Royal eventually traps Rose on the canvas and works over his shoulder. A double-underhook suplex later and Royal retains his championship.
Winner: Southern Jr. Heavyweight Champion Nelson Royal
Nelson Royal is interviewed at ringside by Gordon Solie after the match, and tells Solie that it’s a real pleasure for the people of Johnson City to a living legend in action. The two are interrupted by young wrestler Shane Douglas, who asks to shake Nelson Royal’s hand. Douglas credits Royal as the greatest jr. heavyweight wrestler of all time. The young superstar asks Nelson Royal to step into the ring with him and put the Southern Jr. Heavyweight Title on the line. Royal looks annoyed and tells Douglas that he doesn’t waste his time with greenhorns, then walks off in a huff.
---COMMERCIAL BREAK---
Gordon Solie is standing in the ring with Southern Heavyweight Champion Tommy Rich when we come back from commercial break. Solie recalls watching Tommy grow from the most impressive rookie in the sport to the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. All along the way, Solie has considered Tommy one of the most honorable men in the sport. But, there’s a man here in PPW who is calling Tommy’s honesty into question - ‘The Universal Heartthrob’ Austin Idol! Idol’s name elicits a huge pop from the live crowd. Tommy Rich admits that the circumstances surrounding his match with Austin Idol were bizarre, but it’s not his fault that Dickie Slater decided to stick his nose in!
However, Tommy wants to make things right with Idol since he considers Austin a friend. So, Tommy has asked Eddie Marlin to book two matches: a title rematch against Idol in Nashville 'The Power Hour' in two weeks, and right here next week, a tag team match pitting himself and Idol against the Moondogs! Tommy hopes tag team with Idol will make things right, so they can have fair and friendly rematch. Gordon Solie admits that Tommy Rich is convincing, then announces that his special guest next week will be PPW Heavyweight Champion Curt Hennig.
TV Match #2:
‘Wildcat’ Wendell Cooley vs. Allen Martin
The incredibly-popular Wendell Cooley shakes hands with fans around ringside as ‘Hold on Loosely’ by 38 Special plays. Martin is an obnoxious jerk who pokes his finger in Cooley’s chest and insults him, before getting slapped down by the Wildcat. Cooley dominates from bell to bell and puts Allen Martin down for the count with a super kick.
Winner: ‘Wildcat’ Wendell Cooley
Gordon Solie is joined at ringside by The Stud Stable’s Robert Fuller and Jamie Dundee ahead of tonight’s 10-man tag team main event. Robert Fuller chuckles as Gordon asks him about the three mystery partners that Dutch Mantell and Dirty White Boy have lined up tonight. Fuller assures Gordon that nobody in their right mind would get into the ring with five members of the Stud Stable. Jamie Dundee warns Dutch Mantell that all will be left HIM at the end of this match is a pile of greasy hair!
---COMMERCIAL BREAK---
Downtown Bruno made his return to the area by interrupting Lance Russell, Dave Brown and Gordon Solie at the announced desk. Bruno told the trio of announcers that he’d been on a talent search and found the most dangerous tag team in professional wrestling today. His team grew up in the Ozarks fighting from the time they could walk, or maybe even before! Bruno puts all of the teams in Power Pro on warning that he won’t stop until his men, the Bruise Brothers, have the Southern Tag Team Titles.
TV Match #3:
Bruise Brothers (w/ Downtown Bruno) vs. Joe Cazana and Roberto Soto
Downton Bruno leads these two twins, who are bearded with long curly hair, down to the ring and then motions to the ring. The Bruise Brothers dive into the ring and jump Joe Cazana and Roberto Soto. These twins brutalize both opponents and eventually pin Joe Cazana with a Battering Ram. The twins throw Joe Cazana out to the floor after the match and stomp on Roberto Soto several times, before Downtown Bruno leads his Bruise Brothers away.
Winners: Bruise Brothers
VTR: JEFF JARRETT - THE STAR OF THE FUTURE!
---COMMERCIAL BREAK---
As we come back from commercial break, Jamie Dundee is running down Dutch Mantell and Dirty White Boy on the microphone while Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden, Bill Dundee, Roy Lee Welch and Bull Pain hoot and holler. Having heard enough, Dutch Mantell and the Dirty White Boy make their way down the aisle… all alone. As Jamie Dundee rants and raves about telling the people that Mantell and White Boy would couldn’t get anyone to team with them. Then…
YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!!!
IT’S BOB ARMSTRONG, AND FLANKING HIM ARE TRACY SMOTHERS AND STEVE ARMSTRONG: THE WILD-EYED SOUTHERN BOYS!
TV Main Event: TV Time Remaining
Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden, Bill Dundee, Bull Pain and ‘The King’ Roy Lee Welch (w/ Jamie Dundee) vs. Dutch Mantell, Dirty White Boy, Bob Armstrong and the Wild-Eyed Southern Boys
The fans are going wild as Mantell, White Boy, Armstrong and the Southern Boys clean house on the Stud Stable and run all five of them out of the ring. Once order is restored, Bob Armstrong gets to shine early as he unloads on both Robert Fuller and Roy Lee Welch. When Dutch is tagged in, he’s tripped coming off the ropes and ends up being isolated in the Stud Stable’s corner for a stretch. Eventually, Dutch is able to duck a big elbow off the ropes from Roy Lee Welch, and makes the tag to Tracy Smothers. A fight between all ten breaks out. In the middle of the scuffle, Tracy Smothers connects with the jaw jacker on Roy Lee Welch and scores the three count to win this match! The Stud Stable retreat after the bell, but Robert Fuller and Jamie Dundee are both swearing revenge.
Winners: Dutch Mantell, Dirty White Boy, Bob Armstrong and Wild-Eyed Southern Boys
Gordon Solie welcomes Bob Armstrong and the Southern Boys to Power Pro after the match, and is greeted with a big hug from Armstrong. The Bullet tells Gordon that all it took was one phone call from The Dutchman for him to gather the boys and declare war on the Stud Stable. Armstrong promises the Fuller family and the Dundees that they’re going to have a Georgia Jaw Jacker in their face from now on here in Power Pro! Gordon Solie wraps up the show and plugs his interview with PPW Heavyweight Champion Curt Hennig, as well as the tag bout where Southern Champion Tommy Rich and Austin Idol battle the Moondogs. Just as The Power Hour is going of the air, Gordon Solie is handed a note, which says simply: “The nightmare begins next week.”
