02/06/96 - The Bradley Center Milwaukee, WI"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to The Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for ECW's first show from the Badger State. Lanny doesn't understand why anyplace would want to be known as the Badger State. They nasty animals; like Gene's wife. Shaking his head Okerlund begins recapping last week's show where we saw ECW President Eric Bischoff announce tonight's huge Main Event in which "Macho Man" Randy Savage will take on "The Ravishing One" Rick Rude with some really big stipulations. If Savage wins the match, he will get the chance at the ECW Title in just three days at ECW's Pay Per-View Event; King of the Mountain in a Triple Threat match with Rude and ECW Champion "The Soul Stealer Papa Shango! Should he lose though, he'll lose the Title shot he earned by pinning the Heavyweight Champ in a tag-team contest several weeks ago. Lanny doesn't think this is fair to Rude, having such a big match just three days before he's set to face Shango for the Title. Okerlund then tells us of another man who isn't happy about it and that's the ECW Champ Papa Shango himself; having attacked both Rude and Savage during their respective matches on last week's show.
Also last week Bischoff announced that we'll be seeing and ECW Title match here tonight as former Women's Champ Beulah McGillicutty faces the current Champ "Miss Texas" Jacqueline Moore at the top of the show. Poffo wouldn't mind seeing Beulah on top of anything. They then begin hyping the rest of tonight's big show just three days before the King of the Mountain PPV event! The Tag-Team Champions will be in non-Title action when Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer face off against the tandem known as Deep South; "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch and the Junkyard Dog! And as mentioned earlier in our monstrous Main Event; Rick Rude verses Randy Savage! Before Joel Gertner can announce the first match of the night, he's interrupted by "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula! And out comes ECW President Eric Bischoff who swaggers down to the ring. Once inside he tells us that as we all know Eastern Championship's first Pay Per View of the year is right around the corner, three days away; and he's sure all the fans here tonight and the folks at home have their $14.95 ready to order King of the Mountain! As we already know we'll see the King of the Mountain Match itself where 30 competitors will face off in an over the top Battle Royal for the chance to face Sir William Regal for the Eastern States Title that very night! And in the huge Main Event, depending on the outcome of tonight's we'll either see ECW Champion "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango defend his Title against "Ravishing" Rick Rude OOOORRR against both "Ravishing" Rick Rude and "Macho Man" Randy Savage in a Triple Threat! But that isn't the only decision you'll be hearing here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin first; because after some discussion; Eric Bischoff has added the traditional third match to the card and it's gonna be a big one! Because at King of the Mountain the combined forces of The Circus of Doom and Destruction Inc. will face their rivals The Four Horsemen in an Elimination Tag-Team Match up!! The fans love this news and Eric thanks them for their continued support of the ECW brand as we head into our third annual King of the Mountain event!Women's Title Match: Jacqueline Moore vs. Beulah McGillicutty Beulah McGillicutty wants the ECW Women's Championship bad and looks impressive in this match officiated by S.D. Jones as she uses a DDT, the Beulasault and the arm trap cross-legged STF she learned during her time training with William Regal to put the Women's Champ away. "Miss Texas" Jacqueline Moore however isn't going down without a fight using the guillotine choke with legscissors in attempt to get a submission victory and earning two counts off a release German Suplex and a spinning heel kick; the latter of which busts McGillicutty open. The end comes when Beulah McGillicutty seats the Women's Champ on the top turnbuckle looking for a superplex and Jacqueline Moore counters with a Tornado DDT off the top rope for the three. After the match we see Terri Runnels in front of the ECW banner talking with the "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs. Ooooh yeah! The "Macho Man" is pumped tonight. He's been waiting for his chance, his oppoooortuuunity to put the ECW Heavyweight Championship right back where it belongs. And that's around the waist or Randy Savage! And he don't care who he's got to go through. Whether it's "The Ravishing One" or the "Soul Stealer" to get it. Oooh no. And he don't care how he has to get it either. Whether it's going up top, soaring through the sky and coming down with the Savage Elbow or even giving Papa Shango flashbacks with another lowblow. He don't care. Though he does hope Shango has some Bengay in that little witchdoctor purse of his. Cause either way he's gonna need it when "Macho Man" Randy Savage puts him down for the 1-2-3! Oooh! Dig It! And becomes the two time ECW Champion!! Back from the break we see Papa Shango watching Randy Savage's promo on a monitor with The Dark Circle standing about. His eyes are bugging out and he's shaking as he grabs the monitor and hurls it across the room, smashing it to pieces against the wall as Matt Borne ducks out of the way and the man known as Brimstone tells him to calm down. "The Soul Stealer" however isn't have it and scream "Calm down?" several times before launching into a tirade about "Ravishing" Rick Rude and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Two of his chief rivals when last he attempted to wrest this company into darkness. Two men who's blood he is owed. And he plans to take his pounds of flesh in that ring. Plans to tear both men asunder and offer their still beating hearts on the altar of The Dark One himself! Some of The Dark Cicle seem shaken by this, though Borne and Pogo are cackling with delight while Brimstone just looks silently on.Match: Mongo Vyle w/ Rhino vs. Black Bart Poor Black Bart gets his return to ECW in this match where the entirety of th Dark Circle make their presence felt as they join "The Machiavellan Mauler" at ringside. Bart to his credit doesn't back down and takes the fight right to Mongo Vyle. He keeps Vyle on his tows for a bit, but it's hard for Black Bart not to take notice of the antics outside the ring and Mongo Vyle capitalizes; dominating "The Outlaw" following a running clothesline and finally puts him a way for the three with the Mongo Masher sitout full Nelson atomic drop.
After the match Danny Davis tries to stop them, but The Dark Circle enters the ring and beat the hell out of the downed Black Bart whom Papa Shango lays him out with the inverted shoulderbreaker! He then gets on the mic and tells "Macho Man" and "Ravishing" Rick that they'd better run. Because the carnage witnessed in the ring here today is only a sign of things to come at King of the Mountain! He laughs maniacally as ECW takes another...After the break The Bayou Boys are already headed down to the ring holding the ECW Light Heavyweight Title over their heads together. Before the get to the the ring however, the two men pull apart and each of them have half of the belt?! They start guffawing and Doug Gilbert joins the announcing team while Cousin Jamie climbs into the ring with his half of the Title. Gilbert is quite proud of himself as he points to his half of the Title and tells Gene that the "Double" Lightweight Champs now have "Double" Titles! Okerlund says that what they did to the Championship is disgusting and disrespectful to the company. Gilbert tells him to don't be a stick in the mud as his momma used to say.Match: Cousin Jamie vs. Christian Cage Cousin Jamie and Christian Cage have a decent back and forth exchange, which sees one-half of the "Double" Lightweight Champs get the better of Cage on every occasion before Cousin Jamie locks in the Trailer Hitch modified figure four which has Christian tapping out. S.D. Jones raises both Bayou Boys' hands in victory and the duo invite him to their celebratory hoedown as they dance about the ring.Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the commercial break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, Minnesota and that while tickets for that show are sold out; those folks at home should be sure to join us right here on Eastern Championship's home station of TNN The Nashville Network to catch all the action live!
Of course first ECW will be taking a bit of a pit stop at the St. Paul Civic Center as ECW explodes into Minnesota with their very first show in the state and it's live on Pay Per View! Tickets for the February 9th spectacular King of the Mountain are also sold out, but be sure to call your local cable provider asap to order the PPV for just $14.95. The matches this far...
30-Man King of the Mountain Match!!
Then the winner of that Match faces Sir William Regal for the Easter States Title!!!
4-Man Elimination Tag Match: The Four Horsemen vs. The Dark Circle!!!!
ECW Title Match: Papa Shango vs. Rick Rude! (vs. Randy Savage?!) After the PPV hard sell we're brought to the locker room where ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is standing by with The Four Horsemen! Ric Flair leads the promo saying that everywhere they've been this past week the people have been ah asking. Where were you last week?! And to them all "The Nature Boy" has to say is, does he look like a slave to you?! Sure Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and the Windman might love stepping into a wrestling ring to strut around, slap down; and pound into the ground any and all opposition in their path. But darlin? These four men have lives. These four men are in demand. They have planes to catch and checks to cash. They have autographs to sign and women to dine brotha. So last week? It's none of your damn business what they were doing last week. But what he heard when he got back? Whoa momma, that's the "Naitch's" business. The Circus of Doom? Destruction Inc.? That World Ass Chump Papa Shango? This little cabal called the Dark Circle? They want a piece of the Four Horsemen pie? Well brotha they're gonna learn to be careful what you wish for; because on February 9th at King of the Mountain they're gonna get it! Wooo!Tag-Team Match: Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. Pogo the Clown & Matt BorneWe get a little preview match here as Arn Anderson starts things off with Matt Borne while Ric Flair and Barry Windham root him on in the Horsemen's corner. With Destruction Inc. and Luna Vachon hanging out in Borne's corner, referee Danny Davis has his hands more than full. "The Enforcer" slugs it out with "The Ring Master" early on with neither man giving the other an inch. Eventually Arn hits Borne with a DDT and makes the first cover of the match, getting a two count. After kicking out Matt is in trouble as Anderson and Tully Blanchard tag in and out working him over and Tully gets a nearfall when the duo nail him with the double spike piledriver!
Even Matt Borne doesn't seem like he believes he kicked out of that one. And he continues to take a beating until while Arn Anderson pounds on him, Borne surprises him by jumping up from one knee and hits an inverted atomic drop! That takes the wind out of AA's sails and "The Ring Master" traps him in the Stump Puller single leg inverted Boston Crab! Arn makes it to the ropes however with the Horsemen rallying him on! Borne sees this as his cue to escape however and tags in the monstrous Pogo the Clown whom he slaps in the face again! Pogo begins laughing maniacally as he enters the ring and pushes a stunned Matt Borne down on his ass! He then grabs Arn and begins throwing the former World Champ about the ring! Anderson is in the corner getting bludgeoned by huge rights and lefts when he gains a second wind and grabbing the Clown forces his thumbs into his eyes! Pogo and the ref don't like this at all, but the damage is down and Arn turns Pogo into the corner and begins unloading on him before tagging in Tully Blanchard!
Together the two men take turns hammering on the Clown, but when they go for the double spike piledriver, Pogo retaliates with a double spear! With both of them down he hits a standing splash! From the outside "The Ring Master" screams for Pogo to cover Tully, but by the time he does he only gets a two count. It doesn't matter though, because though Blanchard makes several attempts at a comeback; he doesn't have enough left in his tank to overpower or outsmart Pogo the Clown who batters him about the ring before Burying Him in the Basement for the three!
On the outside Ric Flair is now pulling out his hair pissed and leads Arn and Windham into the ring where the trio attack Pogo the Clown! The big man doesn't see it coming and ends up getting stomped out for a bit before Destruction Inc., Matt Borne; and Luna Vachon come in to make the save! A groggy Tully soon joins the fray and the two groups are still brawling around the arena as ECW goes to...Match: Dean Malenko vs. Sexton Hardcastle Although young Sexton Hardcastle tries to get a cheap win, hitting the Spear on Dean Malenko after his partner Joe E. Legend distracted him; even going so far as to throw his feet up on the second rope for leverage it doesn't do him any good. Dean Malenko takes him to school, dominating Sexton most of the match as he stretches and pulls him apart before locking in the single leg Boston Crab for the win. He gets his hand raised by S.D. Jones; when Joe E. Legend slides into the ring! Malenko however sees it coming and kicking the young man in the gut flattens him with a powerbomb. Dean shows no emotion as... We're brought backstage where Terri Runnels is once again in front of the ECW banner where she is now talking to the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer! They tell us that they're glad the Four Horsemen have decided to forget about them. That apparently the Tag-Team Champions are under their radar. But "The American Nightmare" Dustin Rhodes? "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer? They haven't forgotten anything. See they liked the pain the Horsemen dished out. They enjoyed pinning a so-called legend like Flair. To them the fun was just getting started. So while the Horsemen can hope things are over between them, they're not. Not by a longshot. The two men polish off what's left in their flask before heading off.Tag-Team Match: Dustin Rhodes & Tommy Dreamer vs. Deep South The Tag-Team Champions have a tough fight on their hands as Dustin Rhodes starts things off with "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch. The two rough old veterans want one last shot at the gold and make several pin attempts throughout, Murdoch using the Calf Branding off the top to get a two off Rhodes and JYD getting a nearfall using the Thump! powerslam on Tommy Dreamer after a vicious headbutt that leaves Tommy spilling blood in the ring. Dustin & Dreamer are the Tag Champs for a reason though. They work as a cohesive unit and dominate their opponents at several points throughout the match. Though Rhodes fails to put Murdoch away with a diving clothesline and later a running bulldog; Tommy Dreamer finally gets lucky when he connects with a inverted crucifix cutter that puts down the Junkyard Dog long enough to net him the three count from Danny Davis.Poffo and Okerlund welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event. They talk about Savage and Rude's history in ECW, both being former World Champions who've been at one another's throat in the past. Lanny also reminds us that it was in fact "The Ravishing One" who lent "Macho" a hand in defeating Papa Shango in the Steel Cage Match at Hotter Than Hell back in September of '94. The very match that saw Shango and his Dark Circle leave Eastern Championship for over a year. "The Soul Stealer" can't be happy with the prospect of facing these two men again that's for sure. They then remind us of the stipulations of tonight's match. If "Macho Man" Randy Savage wins here tonight he will be allowed to use the Title shot owed him at King of the Mountain which will turn Rude's match with Papa Shango into a Triple Threat Match! However should Savage lose, he will lose said Title shot entirely. "Pomp and Circumstance" then hits!
Gertner: The following Match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Sarasota, Florida weighing in at 237 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs; he is the "Macho Man" Randy Savage!!
Savage emerges from the back and heads down to the ring where he poses for the fans before handing his hat and jacket to Combs. S.D. Jones checks him for foreign objects as Rick Rude's strip theme hits!
Gertner: And now introducing at this time from Robbinsdale, Minnesota weighing in at the peak of perfection; 251 lbs. he is "Ravishing" Rick Rude!Main Event: Randy Savage vs. Rick Rude Rick Rude invites Debbie Combs to remove his robe and Randy Savage attacks him from beind! Whips him across the ring! And clotheslines him out to the floor! Rude is still collecting himself on the outside when "Macho Man" runs the ropes, launches across the ring; and throws himself over the top rope in a suicide dive! Both men crash back to the floor, but Savage is up first and grabbing Rude's robe begins choking him out with it! In the ring Jones is starting the 10 count. Rick is kicking his feet and struggling, but manages to gouge Randy's eyes! As Savage reels back, Rude gets to his feet and grabs Randy's head slamming it into the steel barricade! And he does it again! He begins hammering Randy about the arena floor, but Savage catches his fist and fires back! The two men are throwing shots back and forth when Randy grabs him in a front headlock and punches him in the face! He follows this up with a hard whip into the ring! Rude growls in pain as he hits it back first and Randy Savage slides into the ring at 8. Lanny says this is typical of Savage; taking the cheap way out with a count out victory.
Rick Rude however slides back in just before the 10! Randy is busy celebrating, but is alerted to the "Ravishing" situation by Debbie and heads over to stomp him out. He succeeds for a bit, but Rude makes the comeback fighting his way to his feet and scooping Randy up hits a spinebuster on him! He then pops up for an elbowdrop before locking in a side headlock. He torques Randy's neck as he puts on the pressure and when the ref isn't looking he grabs the top rope for more leverage! "Macho Man" is fading a bit, but gaining an apparent second win, fights out with a back elbow/snapmare combo! Too winded to capitalize; Randy grabs the top rope and catches a breather. Rude is back up on one knee as Savage comes in swinging and the two men trade punches until Rick hits his opponent with a sitout jawbreaker over his head! "Macho Man" is dazed and falls back into the ropes where he is caught by Rick Rude who goes for the Irish whip! But the whip is reversed by Savage who sends Rude into the ropes instead where he follows him in, launching over the ropes and nails Rick Rude hard with the hairpull hangman! Rick Rude clutches his throat as he stumbles up to his feet while Randy Savage climbs up on the apron and as agile as a cat hops up onto the top rope and springboards off with the flying clothesline!
But Rick Rude catches him in midair and hits a powerslam! He hooks Savage's leg! 1!... 2!..
Randy kicks out! Rick Rude now keeps on top of him for a bit, using several knee drops and headlocks to keep Randy down on the mat. Eventually Randy manages to get to his feet but unable to get the drop on Rude finds himself knocked into the corner where Rude climbs up onto the second rope and begins raining down the punches! 1! 2! 3! 4! 5! 6! Rude is thrown off and down to the canvas by "Macho Man" who climbs up onto the second rope himself and leaping off connects with the double axe handle! He begins hammering Rude across the ring and whipping him across the ring connects with the lariat takedown! And Savage is right back up signaling for the Savage Elbow! He climbs the turnbuckle when suddenly on the ramp appears "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango! And he's leading The Dark Circle down to the ring!!The real surprise for Randy comes however when Rick Rude grabs him and throws him off the turnbuckle down into the ring! The winded "Ravishing One" then looks back to the ramp where The Dark Circle is busy brawling... with The Four Horsemen?!!The Four Horsemen have stopped the Dark Circle from interfering in the match! Inside the ring meanwhile Randy Savage is back up and attacks Rick Rude! Rick sees it coming however and gets in a few shots; but "Macho Man" gets the better of him and whips him hard into the corner where he connects with the running high knee! Rude stumbles forward and grabbing his opponent Randy does it again! In the middle of the ring he scoops Rick off his feet and slams him into the mat before making the cover! 1!... 2!...
Rude has kicked out! Randy isn't worried though and chokes Rude out a bit before dragging him into position and once again signals for the Savage Elbow! He climbs up top and goes airborne! And it connects! Randy hooks the leg! 1!... 2!....
Rude kicks out! Randy can't believe it and enraged begins stomping Rude out, but Rude gradually fights his way up on all fours, then onto one knee. Soon Rick Rude is back up on his feet! But Randy kicks him in the gut and hits a DDT! But no, wait! Rick has countered it was a back body drop! And as Randy gets to his feet Rick hoists them off of them and locks in the overhead gutwrench backbreaker rack! Randy is screaming in pain and S.D. Jones is asking him if he quits! But Randy is fighting it! And he squirms free! But as he hits the ground Rick Rude keeps on top of him and sets up the Rude Awakening!
But Randy Savage shoves him away! Rude hits the ropes and as he comes back in Randy Savage picks him up and sets him up for the Piledriver!
And it connects! It connects! "Macho Man" makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
3! Randy Savage is going to face Rick Rude and Papa Shango in a Triple Threat at King of the Mountain!! A Triple Threat for the ECW Title!!!
Lights Fade.

They mention that this is the first show ever in The Pine Tree State. And Poffo says they certainly weren't kidding about that. Ever since getting here on Thursday he's been dying to get back to civilization! Gene says Lanny is exaggerating. And Poffo says Okerlund will see how much he's exaggerating when he's squealing like a pig.
They then hype tonight's huge show which will kick off with the 30-Man King of the Mountain Match in just a minute. The winner of that over the top rope battle royal will go on to face Sir William Regal for the Eastern States Championship! Also on the card The Four Horsemen will do battle with the villainous cabal The Dark Circle in an Elimitation Tag-Team spectacular! And then in our huge Main Event the Eastern Heavyweight Championship will be on the line in a monstrous Triple Threat Match as "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango defends his Title against both "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "Ravishing" Rick Rude! Shango doesn't even have to be pinned to lose the title, the first man to score a pinfall on anyone in the match will become (or remain) the ECW Champion!
Just then "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula hits and out from the back swaggers "All-Class" Eric Bischoff! Eric thanks all the folks here at the St. Paul Civic Center and all those subscribers at home watching on PPV for supporting ECW for the third year in a row! He wants to thank all the fans for making his job possible by giving away a free ECW King of the Mountain '96 T-shirt to all the folks in attendance here tonight! Limited stock, so get yours today!! Some hot girls come out sporting the new t-shirts.
There's some other awesome new merchandise available; but to debut that he's enlisted one of Minnesota's own hometown heroes; ECW's very own host of Slammin' Saturdays "Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff! "Here I Am Rockin' Like a Hurricane" by The Scorpions explodes through the arena as Buck appears on the ramp with his boombox in hand! He rock 'n rolls his way down to the ring! And once he's inside the ring Buck Zumhoff pumps up his hometown crowd with his latest announcement; and that's the third seres of ECW action figures! Adding to the two already impressive assortments; you can now add "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam, "The Maniac" Matt Borne, "Miss Texas" Jacqueline Moore, Mr. Fuji, Taka Michinoku; and "The Japanese Buzzsaw" Yoshihiro Tajiri to your collections! He tells us we can get the figures from Toys R Us, Kay Bee Toys, Kiddie City; and other fine toy retailers. Or by calling 1-800-BUYECW to buy them direct. They then leave the ring as Joel Gertner makes the intros for the first match of the night.Gertner: The following Match is the King of the Mountain Match and is an over the top Battle Royal with 30 entrants. Starting with two men inside the ring a new participant will be introduced at 2 minute intervals. Paricipants will be eliminated by being knocked or thrown over the top rope and hitting the floor until only one man remains. That man will then go on to challenge the Eastern States Champion Sir William Regal for the Title immediately following the Battle Royal itself. Introducing the man unlucky enough to draw the number one entry position, weighing 242 lbs. from Sea Isley City, New Jersey "Mr. Wrestling" Steve Corino!!
Steve Corino is seen in a wrestling arena for the first time since his War Games loss at Wrestle Annual. Lanny laughs and says this guy has no luck. He was the # 2 entrant last year. Okerlund says he has to have a little luck. He's a former Heavyweight Champion and only 23 years old. "Mr. Wrestling" gives the booing fans who've apparently not forgotten about him the finger.
Gertner: And now introducing the man with the unenvious # 2 position weighing in at 280 lbs. from charlotte, North Carolina The Junkyard Dog!
The Dog comes out high fiving the fans and referee Danny Davis before dancing in the ring accompanied to "Another One Bites the Dust" while rattling his chain.30-Man King of the Mountain Match Steve Corino doesn't wait for the bell. He goes right after Junkyard Dog, attacking him from behind and attempts to dump him over the ring. JYD is too fat however and Corino is unable to lift him over. The big man fights his way out and cracks Corino hard with a headbutt, sending him reeling across the ring. JYD then beats on Corino, attempting to eliminate him several times; but the former Champ keeps battling his way back until the bell rings. And out comes the next entrant; ECW Light Heavyweight Champ Cousin Jamie! He has one half of the Title with him which referee S.D. Jones who's officiating on the outside confiscates before it becomes an issue. Junkyard is busy stomping Steve into the corner and Jame joins him. Though they attempt to eliminate him on several occasions, Corino hangs in there keeping himself close to the mat as much as possible.Out next comes "THE Killer Bee" B. Brian Blair! He helps out Corino a little, in that he begins battling with the Light Heavweight Champ. Junkyard Dog meanwhile has Steve up on his feet and is hammering his head into the top turnbuckle when the young man hits him with a back elbow and then drops him with a cutter. Dangerously, "Mr. Wrestling" climbs up top and when JYD gets to his feet, he lets him have it with a missile dropkick! Climbing on top of his downed opponent, Steve begins hammering on the Dog.The Bill Conti Overture then hits and everyone looks expectantly for Jerry Lawler. The "Jerry" chants quickly die down as we're given Brian Lawler instead. He hits the ring and quickly makes the Blair/Jamie fight a threeway. Steve Corino meanwhile leaves the Dog in the corner and after Blair and Brian hit Cousin Jamie with a flapjack; "Mr. Wrestling" sees an opening and he connects wither a superkick on the Lightweight Champ which sends him over the ropes and out of his first King of the Mountain Match."Mr. Wrestling" gets another potential break when the buzzer sounds and out comes his former Omega Horseman partner Jason Venom! Okerlund discusses the fact that we haven't seen the big man in ECW for as long as Corino and wonders if they're still allies. Inside the ring Venom makes his presence felt with Venom sheer-drop release powerbombs for both B. Brian Blair and Brian Lawler right out of the gate! He then turns to Corino and the fans want to see "Mr. Wrestling" get one too! But instead the two men nod at one another and together they toss both Lawler and Blair from the ring. Getting back into their old groove, Steve then gestures to Junkyard Dog; but before they can throw him out the buzzer sounds again. And out comes one half of the Tag-Team Champions "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer! The 7th entrant in the Battle Royal; Dreamer isn't intimidated by the two men inside the ring at all and launches right into them! He hammers them both for a bit; but the numbers game soon catches up to him and he gets dumped over the side! Luckily for Tommy however he catches the bottom rope and manages to hug it out on the apron while Venom and Corino begin stomping him until a now recovered Junkyard Dog makes the save! JYD resumes his brawl with Corino while Dreamer gets the snot knocked out of him with Venom.Steve Blackman is next up and he just kind of hangs around watching everyone else fight. Lanny calls this a smart tactic by "The Silent Assassin." Why get your hands dirty in a match like this until you have to?Blackman's little siesta is cut off however when the next entrant emerges from the back and is "Hacksaw" Butch Reed! He goes right after "The Assassin" who holds his own. Dreamer and Junkyard meanwhile have switched off, now fighting Corino and Venom respectively. The next entrant into the match with the # 10 spot is "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert! He slides into the ring and attempts to help Steve Blackman eliminate Butch Reed. "Hacksaw" breaks loose however and before the two minutes are up he has military press slammed Gilbert out the the floor! And after connecting with a clothesline on Blackman is about to send "The Silent Assassin" out after him."Gorgeous" Michelle Starr's flambouyant intro distracts Butch from getting the job done however and Blackman escapes into the ring. Big Jason Venom isn't so lucky however when he attempts to choke both Dreamer and JYD over the rope at the same time and the two men battle out before back dropping him out of the ring together. Junkyard looks particularly winded by this and Dreamer helps him to his feet. Michelle Starr meanwhile has been busy freaking Butch Reed out, distracting him to the point that Steve Corino connects with a dropkick that sends Reed over the rope and out of the match."Another One Bites the Dust" sounds for the second time of the night announcing the arrival of "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch. Michelle Starr offers his hand to Corino after their little "team-up" and "Mr. Wrestling grabs Michelle's ass, but only in order to run him over the ropes scoring his third solo elimination of the night before walking into a superkick courtesy of Steve Blackman! Dick Murdoch joins up with Junkyard Dog and Tommy Dreamer and the trio in turn attack Steve Blackman together; eliminating him before turning their attention to Steve Corino! They hoist him over the ropes and though he struggles and fights the whole way; he tumbles out to the floor below.
And is soon joined by the Junkyard Dog?! JYD doesn't know what has just happened; but is pretty pissed as he looks up to his his chuckling tag-team partner Dick Murdoch! Dreamer looks equally shocked and lets ol' Tricky Dick have it with a hard right! The only two men in the ring at the moment, Dreamer and Murdoch slug it out for a bit when weird circus music begins to play and out from the back comes "The Ring Master!" Matt Borne wastes now time in attacking both men, but fails to eliminate either before the buzzer once again sounds.Jeff Hardy arrives on the scene! And he goes right after Tommy Dreamer. The announcers talk up the young man from Charlotte, North Carolina saying that his going after Dreamer is only natural with him and his brother Matt Hardy in the tag-division. Murdoch meanwhile slugs it out with Borne while we get to see some of Jeff's exciting fast-paced offense. The 15th entrant "The Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady soon joins the fray and quickly locks horns with Jeff while Tommy Dreamer catches a breather in the corner. Matt Borne meanwhile has managed to powerbomb Dick Murdoch out over the top rope. The announcers talk about Borne's long rivalry with Sir William Regal and remind us he has more than just the Championship motivating him to win this one and go on to defeat the Eastern States Champion! And it looks like he just might do that when the next entrant is revealed to be Pogo the Clown! Okerlund understands Pogo is just as eligible as any on competitor; but finds his arrival hardly fair for anyone who isn't Matt Borne. Indeed it isn't for O'Grady or Hardy who end up getting double chokeslammed from the ring by the cackling Clown! Tommy Dreamer however is right there behind the beast of a man and despite Matt Borne's attempt to pull Tommy off of Pogo; in an impressive display of strength Tommy who's grabbed the Clown by his legs hoists him up and over the top rope!!! Okerlund says that while he is really impressed with Dreamer, that ones going to cost him. Indeed he doesn't look like he has much left in his tank as he's attacked by the only other man still in the match, Matt Borne. The Kaientai Theme then hits and out comes Yoshihiro Tajiri who hops up on the top rope and makes his entrance with a beautifully executed hurrancanrana on Matt Borne. Barry Windham then enters and hands his upcoming opponent Matt Borne a beating while Tommy Dreamer does his best to fend off the much faster Tajiri who locks him in the Tarantula! " Tommy Dreamer however makes a comeback and seems on the verge of eliminating his opponent with the Talking Heads plays and out comes..."The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit! He charges the ring and the announcers tell us this is the first time we've seen Benoit since Wrestle Annual when he defeated then Inter-Promotional Champion Chris Jericho! Lanny tells us it was a massacre. Benoit leaps into the ring, charges across it, collides with Tommy Dreamer and takes them both right over the top rope! On the outside Benoit continues to beat on Dreamer, using the guardrail and steel steps as he batters the Tag Champ across the ring. Okerlund is disgusted and says that Chris Benoit is nothing short of an animal who likes to hurt people. They talk about how at last year's Hardcore Heaven it came down to Benoit and Dreamer in the 15-Man Battle Royal to win an ECW contract; an honor Tommy won. It doesn't look like he's won anything here tonight Lanny scoffs as security comes to pull "The Crippler" off a very bloody Tommy Dreamer.Entrant # 20 is big Devon Hughes who pulls Tajiri off of Barry Windham allowing the Horseman to make a comback against Matt Borne whom "The Buzzsaw" had teamed with. In charge now, Windham and Devon hit Borne and Tajiri with a set of spinebusters! From there the ring quickly fills up again as Joe E. Legend, Brimstone, Aryan von Raschke, Ron Garvin; and "The U.K. Kidd" Douglas Williams with no eliminations. Devon Hughes however finally breaks the ice when he whips Tajiri into the ropes and sends him reeling over them wih his 360 degree corkscrew back elbow smash! Barry Windham then falls victim to the double-teaming of Matt Borne and Brimstone and after they finish with the Horseman; the duo set their sites on Devon whom Brimstone chokeslams and Borne hurls out to the floor. Joe E. Legend then falls victim to the Chaos Theory waist-lock backward roll trainsitioned into a bridging German Suplex from Williams and when Legend gets up in a daze; Aryan Sieg Heil! superkicks him out of the ring! He has Brimstone down in a headlock and is battering his head in with the Hands of Stone! At # 27 Tully Blanchard becomes the second Horseman to enter the match and attempts to help Garvin in eliminating Brimstone! He is giving them one hell of a fight however and won't stay down for long. Spike meanwhile gets dumped over the top by Aryan who continues to brawl with Dustin Rhodes. The announcers talk about how Dustin was the man who pinned Aryan to win the Tag-Team Titles back at Wrestle Annual. As Sexton Hardcastle enters the ring as the next entrant, Aryan scores a measure of revenge when he Sieg Heil! superkicks Rhodes over the top rope and out of the ring. Tully Blanchard is next out following a vicious double clothesline from Brimstone that nearly sends Garvin out as well. Okerlund begins talking about just how impressive this Brimstone character is.# 29 spells trouble as "Mr. Wednesday Night" Rob Van Dam comes in like a bullet! He's quick to eliminate Sexton Hardcastle via a hurrancanrana and after they brawl for a bit sends Aryan out to the floor with a standing dropkick! He points to his shoulders and the fans chant "Rob... Van... Dam!" while Okerlund tells us how RVD is no stranger to winning these things. He was the first ever Eastern States Champ after winning the inaugural King of the Mountain Match. Poffo reminds us that he was only the 6th entrant too that time out.
The cocky Van Dam however turns and walks right into a chokeslam courtesy of Brimstone! Garvin is down in the corner and RVD is stumbling up to his feet as the buzzer rings for the final time of the night. And out comes...Buck Zumhoff?!!! The Minnesota crowd goes nuts as their hometown hero heads down to the ring! Rob Van Dam however is hoisted into the air and powerbombed from the ring by Brimstone! But RVD hooks his legs around the big man's head and he goes tumbling out after him! But Brimstone manages to grab and land on the apron! The big man rolls back in while Buck Zumhoff dances about the ring and charging back in connects with a dropkick on Brimstone! The big man staggers back into the ropes!
But he doesn't go over and stares at Buck Zumhoff for a bit before grabbing him and lays him out flat with a DDT! He then picks up the limp "Rock 'N Roller" and hurls him out of the ring! The fans are now booing as Ron Garvin attacks Brimstone from behind! He begins pounding on the big man and knocks him down to one knee! Ron Garvin grabs him by the back and Brimstone is looking dazed as he's run across the ring by "The Rugged One!" Just before they hit the ropes however Brimstone drops down to one knee, lowblows Ronnie Garvin and in one fluid motion hoists him up and over the top rope with Garvin landing on the outside feet first! Garvin tumbles over looking pissed as Brimstone stands victoriously in the ring! Brimstone has done it! He's won King of the Mountain!Sir William Regal's music then hits! And out comes the Eastern States Champion who hasn't been seen since being viciously attaked by The Dark Circle several weeks ago. He looks confident though as he heads down to the ring.
Gertner: The following contest is scheduled for one for and can only be won via Pinfall or Submission. Making his way to the ring weighing 240 lbs. from Blackpool, England; he is the Eastern States Champion Sir William Regal!Eastern States Championship Match: Sir William Regal (c) vs. Brimstone William Regal doesn't pose for the crowd, he just eyes his challenger with a look that could kill before handing over his Title to referee Danny Davis. And he gets attacked from behind! Brimstone unloads with several punches, knocking Regal forward into the ropes! Sir William turns only to receive a kick to the gut and Brimstone clotheslines the stunned Champ out of the ring!
Regal hits the ground hard and the match is underway as the big man runs across the ring and launches himself onto the recovering Champion with a somersault senton to the outside! Both men hit the ground hard, but Brimstone is up first and grabbing William by the head with both hands, pulls him to his feet and slams him headfirst into the guardrail! Regal doesn't go down however and receives a bicycle kick to the face for his trouble. Brimstone then drags the limp William Regal up to his face and whips him into the ring! Regal rolls in and slowly begins to stir.
Brimstone meanwhile climbs up onto the apron and waits as William Regal pulls himself back up to his feet. As he does, the big man grabs the top rope and launches himself over with a slingshot clothesline! Instead of getting right back up, Brimstone taunts the booing crowd as he remains on his knees and posing ominously for them before grabbing Regal by the throat and chokes him out! Davis puts a stop to this, getting shoved away himself and Brimstone pulls Regal up by his neck and sets him up for a Chokeslam! Sir William however manages to fight his way and landing on his feet...

He keeps Sir William up on his feet however and begins battering his opponent, but Regal swings back! Brimstone pounds him a couple times. And William fires back again! It's slow going, but Regal fights his way out of the corner! Brimstone is quickly losing ground as the two men begin trading punches and in the blink of an eye the Easter States Champion takes the big man up and over with a snapmare! The challenger goes down on one knee and William Regal lets him have it with the Power of the Punch! Brimstone spins about, landing on all fours and Regal is quick to flatten him out with an elbow drop before locking in a Surfboard! Brimstone is in trouble, but Regal is unable to maintain the hold and lets him go! Both men are slow to get up, eyeing one another as they do and in desperation they charge one enough; connecting with a double lariat takedown! Both men go down hard, but it is Brimstone who rolls William over and makes the cover. 1!... 2!
The Eastern States Champion kicks out! Brimstone goes right back to choking Regal out, but Sir William can fight dirty too and connects with an eye rake! Regal rolls to his feet and lets Brimstone have it with a set of knee strikes to the face before setting him up for a double underhook suplex! And it connects! Sir William scrambles for the cover! 1!... 2!...
Brimstone powers out! Regal gets tossed, but is up quick. The Dark Circle member sits right up however! This doesn't stop William who grabs the big man by the head and begins hammering away! Davis breaks this up and Regal grabs his arm and goes for a whip! Which Brimstone reverses! And on the return Brimstone hoists William Regal into the air and connects with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker! The life seems to go out of the Champ and Brimstone makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Regal kicks out just before the 3! And he pays for it as Brimstone stomps, then punches him repeatedly as he gets to his feet and falls back into the ropes. Brimstone whips Regal across the ring, but on the rebound Sir William connects with a flying crossbody! Regal is right back up with a knee drop to the chest and rolling his opponent over locks in the Regal Stretch arm trap cross-legged STF! Brimstone is screaming in pain and reaching for the ropes! And he is screaming in pain and reaching for the ropes!
And he grabs the bottom rope, breaking the hold! William Regal is quick to kick and punch Brimstone from behind as the big man pulls himself up with the ropes. But Brimstone fires back with several back elbows and spinning about drops the Champ with a Discus Punch! Regal lands on his ass, but he bounces right back up! Only to get grabbed by the Brimstone who applies a pumphandle on William Regal whom he lays out flat with a release powerbomb! Dropping to one knee Brimstone makes the cover. 1!... 2!...
3! Brimstone is the new Eastern States Champion! He's defeated William Regal!
While Brimstone has his hand raised in victory, "Mean" Gene and Lanny begin hyping the next match of the night in which The Four Horsemen will take on The Dark Circle in and eight man Tag-Team Elimination Match! They talk about the rivalry over the past month between the two groups who most recently came to blows at the end of this past Wednesday's show when The Dark Circle attempted to interrupt the Main Event between "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "Ravishing" Rick Rude. The Four Horsemen showed up and stopping The Circle's plans. They then show some of the brawl from last week's show before Also sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss hits and out from the back come...
Gertner: The following is an Elimination Tag-Team Match which can only be won when all four members of either team are eliminated from the Match via Pinfall or Submission. Introducing first weighing a combined 966 lbs.; they are "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, Tully Blanchard; and the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair; The Four Horsemen!
The Four Horsemen head down to the ring where Arn and Tully shake hands with referee S.D. Jones before joining their teammates to pose with the crowd. Voodoo drums then begin to beat and the lights go out as mist fills the arena and on the ramp appear...
Gertner: And now introducing their challengers at this time accompanied to the ring by "Mad Dog" Luna Vachon, weighing a combined 1,237 lbs., collectively known as The Dark Circle; they are "The Machiavellan Mauler" Mongo Vyle, "The Man-Beast" Rhyno, "The Ring Master" Matt Borne; and Pogo the Clown!8-Man Tag-Team Elimination match: The Four Horsemen vs. The Dark Circle The two teams argue with one another a bit before finally Ric Flair and Matt Borne start things off. Borne is a bit worse the wear having taken a beating during the King of the Mountain Event and gets his ass chopped off by the "Nature Boy." Flair utilizes several knee drops, elbow drops; and back body drops as he struts about the ring dismantling Borne. He finally goes for a cover after hitting a double arm suplex and would have gotten the three if he had not stopped the count himself by getting up and shaking his head before pulling Borne up to a seated position to pummel his face in. He continues to punish "The Ring Master" for a little while longer, but ends up paying for his hubris when he whips Matt into the corner and charging in for an elbow strike; catches a boot to the jaw. Grabbing the reeling "Naitch" from behind, Borne lays him out with a bulldog and scrambling across the ring makes the tag to the monstrous Pogo the Clown!
Before the big man enters the ring "The Ring Master" gives Pogo a little "pep talk" that seems to be alot of shouting and ends with him slapping his partner in the face. Pogo begins laughing maniacally and entering the ring makes a beeline right at Ric Flair who is now up on his knees. His eyes go wide as he sees Pogo approaching and Ric begs him off, shaking his head as he retreats backward on his knees. The Clown however has no mercy and catching Flair begins bludgeoning him! He gets "Nature Boy" trapped in the corner where he hammers him with hard lefts and rights before grabbing him by the head and tosses him across the ring. Nobody can take a bump quite like Flair and he sells the shit out of Pogo's assault as the big man throws him around for a bit and ends up Burying Him in the Basement! Borne begins screaming at stupid Pogo to make the cover and he does as he's told. 1!... 2!...
Flair just kicks free! Pogo is displeased by this however and grabbing Flair by the arm, yanks him up and whips him hard into the corner! Which he follows up with a body avalanche! Ric is in another world as The Clown does it again! This time when he goes in for the avalanche however, Flair gets out of dodge and tags in Barry Windham! Windham immediately drops the Clown with a clothesline! And taunting Pogo to get back up, hits him with a second helping when he listens! Barry points to Borne as he begins stomping a hole into Pogo. Lanny meanwhile doesn't know what Barry has against "The Ring Master," other than his superior intellect of course. And Okerlund reminds him that it was Borne and Brimstone who eliminated Windham from the KOTM match. "Oh that," Poffo sighs.
Though Pogo does manage to get some shots in on Windham, Barry dominates the Clown who gets lucky when the Horseman whips him into the ropes and Rhino makes a blind tag! Barry doesn't see it and stuns the crowd when he hits Pogo with a snap scoop powerslam on the rebound! He hooks Pogo's leg, only to be informed by Davis he just wasted the last of his energy for nothing. Pissed, Barry gets up and turns around walking right into a Gore striking spear off the top! Rhino hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
Windham kicks free! But Rhino is now in charge and hammering Barry with a release powerbomb, a side belly to belly suplex; and a gutwrench suplex as he beats him about the ring. Finally he traps Barry in a monstrous bearhug and Windham begins to fade! Arn and the Horsemen cheer him on and get the fans to join in, but Davis takes him by the arm and lets it fall. It falls a second time too. But when he goes for the third, Barry rallies back and he begins swinging! Rhino is forced to release the hold and the two men begin slugging it out in the middle of the ring! Barry whips Rhino into the ropes and connects with the big boot! He makes the cover, but only comes off with a two before tagging in Tully Blanchard! And together Tully and Windham hammer Rhino with a double spike piledriver! Tully makes the cover! 1!... 2! The Dark Circle storm the ring! But so do the remaining Horsemen and a brawl ensues!
3! Rhino has been eliminated! Blanchard gets up and spits on Rhino, only to get hit with the Mongo Masher sitout full nelson atomic drop! Mongo Vyle makes the cover! But Davis still hasn't restored order and Arn Anderson pulls Mongo off of him and climbing on top of his opponent lets him have it with a flurry of fists! Blanchard is back up and he and "The Enforcer" hit Vyle with a double spike piledriver! The order now restored, Davis makes the count! 1!... 2!...
Vyle kicks out! Tully keeps on top of the big man, cementing him to the mat with knee drops and holds. Eventually though Mongo fights his way up and overpowers Blanchard! Tully holds his own for a while, but eventually gets hit with a kick to the gut which Mongo follows up with a Samoan Drop! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Tully kicks free! Blanchard defires the odds and fights his way back, nearly getting Vyle to tap to the figure-four leglock! Matt Borne rushes in, stomping Tully out to break the hold which brings all the Horsemen and Dark Circle members back into the ring! Davis is quick to restore order, but while his back is turned Matt Borne removes one of Pogo's clown shores and lets Tully Blanchard have it with The Heel Turn! Lanny "hates to say it, but shades of Doink." Vyle meanwhile hooks the leg and gets the three count eliminating Tully.
Arn Anderson is next in the ring and is pissed. He argues with the ref about the illegal move and when that fails he hands out his frustrations on Mongo Vyle whose neck he stretches a bit and head he pounds to pull before hitting "The Machiavellan Mauler" with a DDT! 1!... 2!...
Vyle's foot is up on the rope! Because Borne put it there! Arn begins arguing now with Borne whom he pulls into the ring with an arm drag over the rope! When he moves on "The Ring Master" however, he gets nailed with the Mongo Masher from behind! And Vyle makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Anderson kicks out! But he's still feeling the effects of the move as Mongo takes control for a bit before tagging in Matt Borne. "The Ring Master" is in better shape, having gotten a breather from earlier in the match and keeps control over AA whom he gets a two count off of with a bridged German Suplex before locking him in the Stump Puller single leg inverted Boston Crab! Arn is screaming in pain! But he makes it to the ropes! But before Davis has time to see it, Mongo stomps his fingers! Borne pulls Anderson back into the ring and really puts on the pressure! Arn is looking ready to tap!
But he flips himself over and kicking Borne in the ass pushes him off and sends him stumbling across the ring! And crawling to his corner he tags in Barry Windham! "The Ring Master" walks right into Windham and gets flapjacked! Then running the ropes, Barry hits a legdrop on Borne and makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Matt Borne kicks out! And when Barry pulls him up, "The Ring Master" connects with a low blow! And scrambling to his corner he tags in Pogo the Clown! Pogo comes in and unloads on a winded Windham whom he slams about the ring a bit before Burying Him in the Basement! The Clown makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
3! Another Horseman is eliminated!! Flair is out on the apron pulling out his hair and looking like a tomato. He's pissed as he enters the ring and immediately Pogo the Clown unloads on him! He hammers Flair about the ring for a bit, but "Naitch" is soon firing back on all cylinders! He's chopping the big man and distracting the ref, he kicks Pogo in the crotch! And when the Clown seems unphased he does it again! He is swearing as he grabs Pogo who's now down on his knees by the head and begins kneeing him in the face! He then bites his opponent! Davis sees it and warns Ric, but the damage is done; because Pogo is bleeding now. Ric grabs the big man in a headlock and begins hammering his brains in before lets him go, raising his arms and lets out a "Wooo!" as Pogo crashes to the floor! Then flipping him over, Ric Flair grabs Pogo by the legs and distracting Davis again, stomps him in the crotch before locking in the figure-four! And Pogo taps out!
Flair has done it! He's eliminated the big man! And he's strutting about now! He's styling and profiling! And he's eating bionic elbow from Mongo Vyle! "The Mauler" is now pounding on a stunned Ric Flair whom he whips across the ring and nails with a Cutter! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Mongo stops the count?! Is he fucking nuts?! Mongo is up on one knee shaking his head and begins to pulverize Flair! He is hammering the hell out of "Naitch" And Flair gets busted open! He is bleeding all over the ring while Vyle uses the rope for leverage as he stomps Flair out! And pulls Flair up to his feet, Mongo Vyle signals for ther powerbomb! And he hoists Flair up! But Ric rolls through and rolls Mongo up! Vyle's legs are kicking as Davis makes the count! 1!... 2!...
3! Vyle kicks out! Mongo is now up and arguing with the ref. Flair had his pants! He did, but Danny didn't see it! Mongo Vyle is pissed and a bloodied grinning 'Naitch is grinning one minute and eating a clothesline over the top rope the next! Arn Anderson is quick to come to Ric's aide and he has a steel chair! Mongo isn't intimidated however and gets hit with it! Again! And again! Arn helps Ric up and the two men huddle on the outside before turning toward the ring and the last remaining member of The Dark Circle; Matt Borne! Arn climbs the apron and Ric rolls in the make the quick tag!
The fans cheer as Arn Anderson once again gets into the ring and charges after Matt Borne isn't backing down! Flair lets out a Wooo! on the apron. And Double A connects with a clothesline on Borne! The two men battle it out, but Borne is already much worse for where. Arn mostly controls the remainder of the match, getting a nearfall with the Gourbuster inverted suplex slam. Borne pulls out though and using several cheap tactis regains control of the match, getting Arn Anderson down on the mat with a front powerslam before heading up top and leaping off is about to hit the Whoopie Cushion seated senton! Arn Anderson however gets back up to his feet and catching Borne in midair nails him with the Double A spinning spinebuster! He makes the cover and picks up the win!
Tully Blanchard and Barry Windham head back down to the ring and the Four Horsemen celebrate their big win here tonight while Matt Borne slinks off to the back.
Okerlund and Poffo then begin hyping tonight's monstrous Main Event in which the ECW Champion "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango will defend his Title against both the man he won the belt from back at Wrestle Annual 2, "Ravishing" Rick Rude and former Champ "Macho Man" Randy Savage in a Triple Threat Match! Shango's Title is in a particularly precarious position here tonight, as under Triple Threat rules the Champion doesn not have to be pinned himself to lose the belt. Lanny calls this a "bullshit" rule.
They then talk about the road to tonight's match starting with Papa Shango's defeat of then ECW Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude. Shango stole the match that night with the use of his strange voodoo mist, blinding the Champ before nailing him with his parented Voodoo Breaker. However keeping the Title was not going to be easy for Shango, being the former Champion Rude was guaranteed a rematch. A match he will be claiming here tonight at King of the Mountain!
They then talk about Papa Shango's actions since winning the belt and how he and his villainous cabal The Dark Circle hae wrought a path of destruction here in ECW, ending the career of "Iron" Mike Sharpe, brutally attacking the Eastern States Champ William Regal, "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan, The Four Horsemen; the list goes on and on. One man however defeated Papa Shango amidst all this carnage. In a tag-team match with Hulk Hogan, "The Macho Man" Randy Savage pinned "The Soul Stealer" to win the match, earning himself a shot at Shango's Title! A shot he wished to claim here tonight. With a Match already set for the Champion, it was a long road for Savage to get what he wanted. But get it he did, culminating in a Match against Rick Rude this past Wednesday where Savage pinned the # 1 contender to make tonight's Main Event a Triple Threat!
Lanny and Gene then talk about the condition of both the "Macho Man" and Rick Rude tonight after a hard fought contest just three nights ago. The ECW Champ Papa Shango definitely has an edge here tonight. "Pomp and Circumstance" then hits as "Macho Man" Randy Savage emerges from the back with Debbie Combs in tow!
Gertner: The following Triple Threat Contest is scheduled for one fall and is for the Eastern Heavyweight Championship. Introducing first hailing from Sarasota, Florida and weighing 237 lbs., accompanied to the ring by "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs; he is the "Macho Man" Randy Savage!
Savage hits the ring and poses for the crowd before hands his hat and jacket over to Debbie Combs who is escorted to ringside by referee Danny Davis. Rick Rude's strip theme hits!
Gertner: And now introducing the second challenger of the night, from Robbinsdale, Minnesota weighing in at 251 lbs.; "Ravishing" Rick Rude!
Rude comes out and kisses a woman with kids at ringside before climbing into the ring. Okerlund informs us that the woman is his wife Michelle. Lanny says that a man like Rick Rude has a "wife" in every port. "The Ravishing One" gets a pretty big reaction from the Minnesota crowd as he poses in the ring to taunt Savage. Voodoo drums then begin to beat as the lights go out and mist fills the arena. Up on the ramp appears the ECW Champion Papa Shango!
Gertner: And now making his way to the ring, weighing 270 lbs. from the Bowels of Hell; Wilmington, Delaware he is the Eastern Heavyweight Champion "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango!Main Event ECW Championship Triple Threat Match: Papa Shango (c) vs. Randy Savage vs. Rick Rude Before the match Danny Davis looks inside the mouth of the ECW Champion as he checks him for weapons. Gene informs us that The Dark Circle has been barred from ringside for tonight's Main Event. And Lanny chuckles. Once Davis has finished both Randy Savage and Rick Rude go right after the ECW Champion! The two men barely hit Papa Shango, instead colliding with one another as the wily Champ dodges out of the way! Rude and Savage begin arguing and Davis attempting to get the match underway, orders one of them from the ring. This causes the duo to argue more and they begin pushing one another as Papa Shango himself heads to the corner, holding up both hands toward the ref as if to tell him "it's okay."
Davis then starts the match much to the confusion of Rick Rude and Randy Savage who look to Shango pissed as they're told to start the match. "The Ravishing One" however draws first blood with a hard right to the head of the "Macho Man!" The two men brawl about the ring until Randy whips Rick hard into the corner and runs in with a clothesline! But Rude gets his knees up and busts Savage hard in the chops! Lanny begins talking about how the ECW Champ very well might be a Genius here, letting his two opponents wear one another down for him. The camera pans on Shango who is leaning on the turnbuckle, grinning evilly; and clearly loving the carnage he's caused as Randy Savage hits a front powerslam which he follows up with an elbow drop and the first cover of the night! 1!...
Rude ain't having it! "Macho Man" keeps on his opponent, hammering him with several shots to the head but Rick Rude battles his way back up to his feet and starts swinging! The two men are going punch for punch for a bit; but Savage ends up overpowering Rude with clubbing blows; wailing on his opponent until Rick Rude grabs Savage and stuns him with a sitout jawbreaker over his head! As Randy staggers back, Rick pops up and sends him stumbling into the ropes with a dropkick! And as Savage bounces off of the ropes he is nailed with a snap suplex and the cover! 1!...2!
Randy kicks free! Rick is now in full control as he stomps Savage into the mat for a bit, using several knee strikes before Randy gets some breathing room by taking Rick down to the mat with a snapmare! Now up on his feet Rany heads to the corner to tag in Papa Shango! But "The Soul Stealer" jumps down of the apron, cackling maniacally. Savage looks pissed as he turns about, gets kicked in the gut by Rude and hammered home with a DDT! Rick makes the cover! 1!... 2!..
Shango grabs Rude's leg from the outside and pulls him off of Savage! He continues by pulls Rick out of the ring and begins hammering on the man he beat for the Title back at Wrestle Annual! "Ravishing" has had enough however and pushes Shango away from him before letting him have it with punch after punch, knocking him into the guardrail! Shango goes halfway over the barricade and when he returns he has a steel chair! And he hands Rick Rude a seat! Rude reels from the blow as Papa goes for another, but just then inside the ring Randy Savage runs the ropes and charging across the ring launches himself out in a tope dive on both men! All three hit the ground hard! There's a tangle of bodies for a bit, but Randy Savage is up first and pulling the ECW Champ up to his feet he slams him head first into the steel barricade! He does it again and again! Shango has been busted open!
When Randy Savage takes a chair shot from behind! Rick Rude now has Shango's chair and he cracks "Macho Man" who is down on his knees across the head with it before letting Shango have it too! He beats Papa down with the chair before pulling him up to his feet and hits the ECW Champ with the Rude Awakening delayed hangman's neckbreaker right on the chair! Shango's lights go out and Rude rolls the Champ into the ring where he makes the cover!
But Danny Davis isn't making the count! Papa Shango has never been tagged in! Rick is frustrated as he gets to his feet and eyes Randy Savage who's having a chuckle on the outside as he catches his breath on the barricade. He heads back into the ring, but Rick Rude welcomes him back with a dropkick as he gets to his face! He climbs on top of Randy and begins beating on him, but Randy rolls him over and treats him to more of the same. Savage then gets to his feet and spends his time catching his breath wisely by picking Shango up and hurling him over the top rope and out of the ring! When he turns back to Rude however, he is hoisted up off his feet and hit with a delayed fireman's carry slam! And Rude makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
Savage kicks out! And gets pulled back to his feet and Rick goes for an Irish Whip! But Randy reverses it and on the rebound sends Rude flying with a huge back body drop! And as Rude bounces back up to his feet, Randy Savage scoops him up and connects with the Piledriver! 1!.. 2!...
Rude kicks out! Randy Savage spends some time stomping Rick out now and hits him with a front powerslam before signalling for the Savage Elbow! He climbs up the turnbuckle and Randy is going airborne! But Papa Shango is there and crotches him on the top turnbuckle! Shango is doing some sort of voodoo shenanigans on the apron while Randy grits his teeth in pain! Meanwhile Rick Rude is now back up and climbing up the turnbuckle sets up "Macho" for the superplex! And it connects! Rude hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
Randy kicks out! And Rude keeps on with the beatdown! And hoisting Randy up off his feet he locks in the overhead gutwrench backbreaker rack! But Randy slips out before he can lock it in and surprises "The Ravishing One" with an inverted atomic drop! He then heads to Papa Shango's corner, only the Champ is refusing to be tagged in! Randy however has had enough and grabbing him; throws him inside with a hiptoss! Papa Shango is now the legal man!
And seeing Rick Rude is still in trouble, "The Soul Stealer" pounces! He nails Rude with several kicks and is in full control of the match! He hammers Rude about the ring for a bit before applying a front facelock and batters Rick in the face for a bit before hitting a bulldog on the challenger! Rick is struggling up to his hands and knees as Papa Shango applies the STF! Rude is in trouble! There's no way he's going to reach the ropes and Shango looks like he is going to tear off his head! But Savage has climbed the turbuckle and going airborne again hits the Savage Elbow! He's broken up the hold and both of his opponents are now down. He drags Rick Rude into the corner and forces a tag in!
Shango meanwhile is staggering up to his feet while Randy Savage agile as a cat hops up to the top rope from the apron and connects with a springboard clothesline! The ECW Champ is down! And he makes the cover on the Champ! This could be it! 1!.. 2!..
Papa kicks out! Randy is pissed and begins choking "The Soul Stealer" out! When Davis stops him from doing this, Savage picks "The Soul Stealer" up onto his shoulder and runs him into the corner hitting a Snake Eyes! Shango is stunned but doesn't hit the ground until Randy puts him there with a vertical suplex and makes the cover! 1!... 2!..
Rude dives in and breaks it up! Rick Rude and Randy Savage both look tired as they slug it out, but it's "Macho Man" who drives Rude back into the ropes and clotheslines him back to the outside! This gives Papa Shango the opening he needs however and surprising Randy he hits the swinging necbreaker! He makes the cover! 1!... 2!...
3! No wait! Savage just made it! And Papa Shango is furious! He's begins stomping a mudhole into Randy, using the rope for leverage! He then hoists Savage up to his feet and whips him into the ropes! Blind tag by Rude! Savage doesn't see it, but Davis did; and on the rebound Randy counters with a Tornado DDT! He connects! But Davis doesn't make the count! And the ref is looking towards Rick Rude as he enters the ring and a desperate Papa Shango quickly hits the fuming Randy Savage with a face full of Voodoo Mist! Savage falls back screaming and Papa Shango keeps on top of him! And he doesn't see Rick Rude coming as he's hit with the belly to back piledriver! Rick Rude makes the cover! And he gets the pin! Rick Rude is once again the ECW Champion!
Rick gets his hand raised in victory before heading outside and celebrating with "one of his wives" and kids. The Minnesota crowd is loving it while inside the ring a pissed "Macho Man" Randy Savage looks at him in disgust and red eyed, begins trash talking him. Papa Shango is in the wrong place at the wrong time as "Macho Man" Randy Savage grabs hold of him and hits him with a piledriver!
He's now pointing at Rude, screaming his head off as suddenly the new Eastern States Champion Brimstone and the Dark Circle spill from the back!!
Randy goes wide-eyed and quickly hops out of the ring, escaping through the crowd. Meanwhile Rick Rude gets caught by The Dark Circle who beat the hell out of him in front of his family! They drag Rude into the ring where Pogo the Clown Buries him in the Basement! Rude is out of it when Brimstone follows this up with a pump handle release powerbomb! And finally Papa Shango strides over the prone Champ wide-eyed! He is then handed his cauldron by Luna Vachon while Destruction Inc. pull Rick Rude up to a kneeling position!
He's about to pour the strange black fluid on the Champ when on the ramp appears Minnesota's own "Rock 'N Roll" Buck Zumhoff?!! And he's with The Four Horsemen! And Rob Van Dam! The entire locker room spills down the ramp! And leaving Rude where he is, Papa Shango leads The Dark Circle in an all-out brawl as the...

2/13/95 - Mayo Civic Center Rochester, MN"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, MN for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! They then begin talking about last week's huge PPV and while not going into specifics; there were some big Title changes at the event and not everyone left the arena happy. They then inform us if we missed the PPV, to see all the action we can still call our local cable providers to catch all the action! They then begin hyping tonight's huge show which will see the recently returned Steve Corino back in action as well as "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin; and the undefeated Dean Malenko will be taking on one half of the Bayou Boys when he faces "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert! And in tonight's huge Main Event the Tag-Team Champions Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes will be in action against Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard and the Title will be on the line! Also the new ECW Champion Rick Rude is in the arena and Okerlund is sure we'll be hearing from "The Ravishing One" here tonight! As if on cue, Rick Rude's strip theme hits and out from the back comes the new ECW Champion with the Title strapped about his waist. Inside the ring Rude gets the microphone off Gertner and struts about for his cheering hometown crowd. He orders for them to cut the music. He then says it's great to be appreciated for once. Even if it's by a bunch of buck-toothed, back woods; inbreads like the folks from the Gopher State. He tells us that that's one thing you won't be seeing him do as ECW Champion. Hiding in a hole. As he told us all before. Last time out? He won the belt. And he choked a bit. This time? He's here to stay. And this belt is staying right where it belongs. Around the most chiseled, Champion in this business' history. Because as all the ladies know and all the losers don't want to admit; you're all looking at the pique of physical perfection here. Now while Rude may not have alot good to say about his hometown, there is one thing he always liked. And that's that just like the gopher; the women here're ominvorus. That means they'll eat anything you hayseeds. So there'll be no shortage of little gophettes here tonight to take off my robe. So who's it gonna be? Your wife? Your sister? Your daughter? Your mother? No. Not you. Sit down.Rude finally settles on one woman in the audience and security helps her up into the ring. She's resistant to Rick's charms however; but finally relents and removes Rick's robe. When she does he sweeps her into his arms and lets her have it with a "Rude Awakening." Once he lets her go she stares at him dreamily and he tells security to take her back to his room. He ain't done with here yet. He then tells us to gaze upon the Eastern Heavyweight Championship around his waist. You don't need to take a picture, cause it's gonna be here for a while. But first he has a couple people to thank for getting him his Title back. For making sure he was the first ever man to win this Title twice. In fact, first and foremost he wants to thank the "Macho Man" Randy Savage!Just then "Pomp and Circumstance" hits and out from the back storms "Macho Man" Randy Savage who has brought Debbie Combs out with him. They head down to the ring where Savage paces about the Champ for a bit while Rude makes kissy faces at Debbie who remains outside. Savage has his own mic and tells Rude that he don't have nothing to "thank" him for. That Savage didn't give him anything. That "Ravishing" simply did what he always does, he slunk into another man's bed and took what was rightfully his! That "Macho Man" Randy Savage had "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango beat dead to rights! That he laid the Champ out in this very ring! Took Shango's head clean off! And had him down for the 1! 2! 3! And in swoops a vulture! A carrion! A nothing! And stole from the "Macho Man!" And if Rude thinks he's going to come out here, listen to his spiel; and not make him taste the steel well he's dead wrong! Cause "Ravishing" has got these 25" pythons of Savage's fired up! And they're ready to strike! Ooooh Yeah!
Rick Rude is chuckling to himself and asks Savage if he's done? Because if all Randy is out here to tell him is that "The Ravishing One" isn't going to come in, shake things up, make his move; and turn Savage into a cuckold; well all Rude has is two little words for the "Macho Man." Too late. Because whether Randy likes it or not, if this belt "belongs" to him? It's still hanging around Rude's waist. And it's still going to get into Rude's car. And it's still going to be coming home with him tonight. And Debbie? We can always make it a threewa--
Savage decks him! Rude reels from the blow, but after shaking his jaw off comes back swinging! The two men are clobbering one another when suddenly the lights go out! And voodoo drums begin to beat as smoke fills the arena. When they come back on both men are layed out in opposing corners and in one Destruction Inc. have stomped the hell out of Rude while in the other the Circus of Doom is doing the same to Savage! Papa Shango meanwhile is in the middle of the ring gazing at the carnage before ordering for his men to stop. "The Soul Stealer" then speaks to both men, telling them that what is around Rick Rude's waist belongs to neither of them! That last week The Dark Lord was promised two belts and was cheated by one! Because neither one of them on their own could defeat "The Soul Stealer!" And if he has to face them both one on one tonight to prove it he shall! For Shango, Shango wheres horns for no man! And before the night is through he shall reclaim his rightful mistress! He shall once more be the ECW Champion! And then darkness will reign! He cackles maniacally until he's interrupted by..."White Train" by Tito & Tarantula! And out from the back is ECW Eric Bischoff! Rude, Savage; and Shango who have been busy eyeballing one another now turn to the ramp where Erc is pacing back and forth before stopping. He tells them that he appreciates their initiative and tells us that he's sure that he's sure the ECW Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude would be more than happy to face both men again. Tonight! But... that's not going to happen. And Shango? Bischoff is sorry. But while you are indeed owed a rematch. That Title shot will not be taking place tonight. So "The Soul Stealer" will not be leaving the arena with the Title here tonight. But Randy?....
Eric thinks that after his performance at King of the Mountain, the "Macho Man" is owed another shot at the Title as well! But, Bischoff is sorry. Because while he can't wait to see Savage go one on one with the ECW Champion; it ain't happening tonight either. But what he does promise both Papa Shango and Randy Savage; and the fans; is that both these matches will happen soon. So Rick Rude, be prepared. "The Ravishing One" looks confident and happy with the news, while Shango and Savage both look a little annoyed as ECW takes it's first...Straight from the break Joel Gertner introduces the competitors in the face match of the night while the commentators talk about the big news from Bischoff here tonight. ECW Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude will have to defend his Title twice in the near future. Against both "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango!Match: Ronnie Garvin vs. Douglas Williams "The U.K. Kidd" Douglas Williams holds his own against "The Rugged One" early on, even nearly causing an upset when he hits his Chaos Theory waist lock backward roll trainsitioned into a Bridged German Suplex on him. Ronnie Garvin kicks out however and makes a full comeback, finishing Douglas Williams off with The Garvin Stomp for the three from S.D. Jones. After the break ECW Correspondents Terri Runnels is joined in front of the ECW banner by the victorious Ronnie Garvin. He tells her that as we all know he isn't one to complain. But last week he was the 30th man eliminated in the King of the Mountain match. And that bastard Brimstone let's face it; needed a lowblow to take out "The Rugged One." Now he ain't whining about the fact Brimstone won. Garvin didn't win the KOTM event. But what he does want is a shot at Brimstone's Title. Because he's gonna prove that with "The Hands of Stone" in action, it really is a case of the bigger they are; the harder the fall.Match: Debbie Combs vs. Tiffany "Hot Stuff" Debbie Combs comes down to the ring alone while Donna Summers plays. She gets some ringtime against Tiffany who gives as good as she gets in this nice back and forth contest which ends when Debbie Combs nails Tiffany with the swining neckbreaker and Danny Davis makes the count. After the break we get a promo from the Four Horsemen who're all fired up in the locker room talking about their big win last night at the King of the Mountain PPV! Flair tells us how they styled, they profiled; and they defiled The Dark Cirle all over Pay Per View! Wooo! But they aren't done there. Not by a longshot brother. Because the Horsemen they dream big, they plan large; and they get they make sure the payoff is huge! Wooo! And it starts here tonight, cause big Barry Windham is going to hand those Dark Circle goofballs another loss tonight and get that Title off that grim reaper wannabe Brimstone!
Windham then tells us that this Brimstone character wants to play at being a Dead Man so much, well tonight he's gonna get his wish! Flair then tells us they ain't done there. Because Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard already got their Title shot here tonight baby! Dreamer, Rhodes you're done!
Arn and Tully agree. They put the duo over as good Champions, but Arn and Tully are simply better. They talk about winning the Tag-Titles together in every promotion they've been in together and ECW will be no different for Tully Blanchard and "The Enforcer!"
Wooo! That's right. And don't be thinking Ric Flair ain't going to get something for himself! Cause whether it's Rick Rude or Randy Savage or Papa Shango, Flair don't care who's wearing it! He's coming for the Eastern Heavyweight Championship brother!Match: Steve Corino w/ Jason Venom vs. Spike Hughes Okerlund in particular isn't happy to see "Mr. Wrestling" back in an ECW ring, but says he has to admit the young man was impressive in his return during the KOTM match; having with some help from Jason Venom eliminated four men from the match before getting eliminated himself. Venom is at ringside and S.D. Jones warns him before starting the match. Spike Hughes does well early on as the two men battle back and forth, but when Spike goes for the corner springboard cutter; Steve Corino blocks it and hits Hughes with a side suplex. From there he has control of the match and finishes Spike Hughes off with a Sliding Lariat for the three.Lanny and Gene welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Jamestown Civic Center in Jamestown, North Dakota and that while a limited number of tickets for that show are still available; those folks not in the area should tune in right here on ECW's home station of TNN The Nashville Network! We're then brought to the dimly lit boiler room of the Mayo Civic Center where "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango is berating the Dark Circle on their loss at the Pay Per View! He tells them that The Dark Lord is displeased, very displeased. And that should we face another such loss his vengeance shall smite eternally! He blames them for his loss of the Title as well. And that the only person who has no cause for shame is... "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango himself!Match: Brimstone w/ Papa Shango vs. Barry Windham Brimstone trods down to the ring with the Eastern Heavyweight Title slung over his shoulder and Papa Shango at his side. Okerlund talks about how Windham requested this match after being eliminated by the big man in the KOTM match. Referee Danny Davis checks him for weapons and out from the back comes Barry Windham. The match starts and the two big men lock up. They brawl alot, but both get in several impressive power moves including a gutwrench suplex and a scoop slam from Windham who gets two counts following a lariat and implant DDT at different points during the match. No matter what he does however, the man known as Brimstone refuses to stay down and makes covers of his own following a Death Penalty side slam and slingshot cothesline from the apron over the top rope into the ring which catches Windham completely offguard. Papa Shango continually gets involved in the match, to the point that Barry Windham grabs him by the head and throws him into the ring and Brimstone drops the distracted Barry with a big boot! Danny Davis meanwhile throws out the match and having nothing to lose, Brimstone and Shango put the boots to Windham! This brings out Ric Flair who attacks the duo, giving Barry Windham enough time to recover and the two teams brawl about the ring until the... After the break we're shown that the brawl didn't end there as both Destruction Inc. and the Circus of Doom exploded onto the ring! Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard soon joined in the fray, but weren't enough to stop all eight members of the Dark Circle. They beatdown the Four Horsemen, bloodying "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair in the process. Okerlund says it looks like the Horsemen payed dearly for their win at King of the Mountain.Tag-Team Match: Deep South vs. The Hardy Boyz S.D. Jones starts the match up with Dick Murdoch and Jeff Hardy in the ring. Jeff looks very impressive using his fast-paced offense against the old veteran, hitting him with several dropkick variations and a diving senton onto a standing "Captain Redneck" off the top. Murdoch tries to keep Jeff down on the mat, mostly brawling with his young opponent whom he gets a two count off of after a brainbuster.
Eventually Dick Murdoch tags out to Junkyard Dog who throws Jeff Hardy about the ring for a bit, clocks him with a massive heabutt; and hits with the Thump! front powerslam. Jeff tags out to his brother Matt Hardy after escaping JYD who tries to drag him back toward his corner by his leg and is caught by surprise when Jeff hops around with a roundhouse kick to the jaw.
Matt fairs a little better with The Dog whom he gets a two count off of with a sitout jawbreaker over his head, but when Junkyard tags in Murdoch they double-team Matt a bit, softening him up. Deep South makes several tags as they continue to assault Matt, getting a nearfall on his with a double flapjack off a whip. Eventually however Matt Hardy escapes after hitting the Twist of Fate cutter, but is in no condition to make the tag. He heads toward his corner while a dazed Junkyard Dog attempts to tag out, but Dick Murdoch instead hopes down off the apron and heads to the back?! Junkyard has no idea what is going on; and Jeff Hardy capitalizes by running the ropes and hitting a bulldog on Junkyard Dog before he heads up top and hits the Swanton high angle senton Bomb on him for the three! The Hardy Boyz celebrate their big win here tonight. The Bayou Boys are then in a pre-recored promo where they use several precarious methods included a hack saw to split the ECW Lightweight Title in half. They also try running it over with their pickup truck, feeding it to an alligator; and even give Mr. Fuji a go at it using that "karate stuff" to no avail. Cousin Jamie suggests maybe George Steele could bite the damned thing in half when inspiration hits Doug Gilbert who getting excited lets out a "Dy-no-mite!" We then see the Boys light a fuse and run for cover before an explosion hits behind a hill. Cousin Jamie and Doug Gilbert go inspect the Title, which to their delight is now in two roughly even halves and dance a jig about it. Yee Haw!
"Idiots" is all The Genius has to say about the promo. To which Okerlund tells him while he doesn't disagree with his assessment, Lanny's just mad they didn't make a third one for him. Poffo concedes the point.Match: Dean Malenko vs. Doug Gilbert w/ Cousin Jamie Despite Cousin Jamie's attempts at bugging Dean Malenko that at one point get "Mean" Dean trapped in the Clawhold and "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert's attempts to pin him using a swinging neckbreaker and inverted atomic drop; Malenko just keeps coming and beats the crap out of Doug more often than not. Dean Malenko locks in the Texas Cloverleaf for the Submission victory and points toward Cousin Jamie telling him he's next. Jamie for his part is smart enough not to take Malenko up on his offer to get into the ring.Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event match up which will see the Tag-Team Champions "The American Nightmare" Dustin Rhodes and "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer defend their Titles against two members of the Four Horsemen; Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard! ECW president Eric Bischoff made this match due to comments from the Tag Champs against the Horsemen as well as to reward the stable for their big win against The Dark Circle at King of the Mountain last week. Lanny tells us that the Tag-Champs might just be regretting not letting things go against The Four Horsemen after tonight's match.
Gertner: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and is for the ECW Tag-Team Championships! Introducing first at a combined 480 lbs. and accompanied to the ring by "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair; they are the team of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard!
The Horsemen take to the ring with Ric Flair's head bandaged. He leans into the ropes and lets out a Wooo! while Tully and Arn shake hands with referee S.D. Jones. Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer then appear on the ramp while AC/DC's "Highway to Hell plays and the both take swig from Rhodes' flask before they head down to the ring.
Gertner: And now introducing the ECW Tag-Team Champions weighing a combined total of 498 lbs.; "The American Nightmare" Dustin Rhodes and "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer!Tag-Team Championship Main Event: Tommy Dreamer & Dustin Rhodes vs. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard Tommy Dreamer starts things off with Arn Anderson and the match is under way. The two men lock up and Dreamer with a quick go behind, hits Anderson with a suplex. Despite drawing first blood, the early goings of the match belong clearly to the Horsemen. Arn and Tully use their years of ring experience to their advantage, tagging in and our frequently as the dismantle Tommy Dreamer and the Dustin Rhodes. The Tag-Champs do get in a fair amount of offense, but both have seen better days by the time Rhodes locks in the Figure-Four! And Dustin is in trouble! He is on the verge of tapping when he manages to roll Blanchard over! Tully who's close to the ropes, isn't in much trouble and Jones breaks the hold. Running in with a knee drop that connects, Blanchard attempts to keep the worn down Rhodes in the ring; but Dustin battles out with a couple back elbows and drops Blanchard with a snapmare. And he tags in Tommy Dreamer!
Dreamer immediately capitalizes with a dropkick to the face of a seated Tully Blanchard and makes the cover, getting a two. He keeps on top of Tully and along with Dustin Rhodes whom he tags back in, the two men work him over in the corner when in comes Arn Anderson to break it up! Arn drops the duo with a round of right hooks before laying Dreamer out with a spinebuster! Dreamer rolls out and Jones restores order to the ring. From here Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer rally back, making pin attempts on Arn following a inverted crucifix cutter and a snap scoop powerslam pin by Dustin. When Dreamer whips Anderson into the ropes, Arn is on the verge of a comeback when he gets his foot up catching Dreamer in the chops and climbing to the second rope jumps off and hits a DDT on the Tag Champ! And he hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
Arn Anderson stops the count? He's yelling at Ric Flair whom he's caught holding down Dreamer's legs at ringside! Flair doesn't seem to understand what the problem is and is shrugging while "The Enforcer" is busy pointing at him and having a few tense words from the ring. And Anderson gets schoolboyed! Tommy Dreamer with the roll-up! 1! 2! 3!
The Tag Champs have defeated Arn and Tully! Tommy Dreamer and Dustin Rhodes are handed their Titles and celebrate while Arn Anderson hops out of the ring where he's joined by Tully Blanchard and Ric Flair; the latter of whom he pushes away as they head to the back. Arn is looking pissed as the...

2/20/95 - Jamestown Civic Center Jamestown, ND"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to the Jamestown Civic Center in Jamestown, North Dakota for another exciting edition of Eastern Championship Wrestling! They then briefly recap last week's show including The Four Horsemen's ongoing struggles with "The Soul Stealer" Papa's Shango's villainous faction; The Dark Circle. We also saw in the huge Main Event the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer retain the Titles against Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard; in some part due to an apparent miscommunication with their leader "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. They also talk about the World Title picture and how ECW Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude has two Title defenses in his future. One agains the man he beat for the belt; Papa Shango! And the other a date with destiny against "Macho Man" Randy Savage!
Neither of those matches are in the cards tonight however, but we will see the Eastern States Champion Brimstone in action, as well as the man who called him out here last week; "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin! Also the Tag-Team Champs Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer will be seen in non-Title action locking up with the Circus of Doom; and in a monstrous Main Event the Eastern Heavyweight Champion Rick Rude will face "Hacksaw" Butch Reed in a non-Title bout that's sure to be a classic!
Joel Gertner then introduces the opponents in the first match of the night.Match: Brimstone w/ Papa Shango vs. Jeff Hardy The former Lightweight Champ attempts to keep the current Eastern States Champ on his toes in this non-Title bout using his speed and high flying abilities to his advantage. It doesn't work hower and Brimstone matches him shot for shot, clearly getting the better of his smaller opponent with the match spilling to the outside when Jeff Hardy launches over the top rope taking down both Brimstone and Shango with a suicide dive! Jeff attempts to keep on top of him, but Brimstone overpowers him and rolls him back into the ring. Jeff however is quick to get up and hitting the ropes runs at Brimstone who's up on the apron and slams himself right into a slingshot clothesline from the agile big man and Danny Davis makes the count.
After the match "The Soul Stealer" enters the ring and puts the boots to Jeff when out from the back comes Matt Hardy to the rescue! He eats a Chokeslam from Hell courtesy of Brimstone. With both Hardy Boyz down, Brimstone gets on the microphone and reads the following.
O'er the sad threshold, where the cypress bough Supplants the rose that should adorn thy home, On the last pilgrimage on earth that now Awaits thee, wanderer to Cocytus, come! Darkly we woo, and weeping we invite- Death is thy host-his banquet asks thy soul, Thy garlands hang within the House of Night, And the black stream alone shall fill thy bowl."Mean" Gene isn't sure what Brimstone was on about before the break, but says that he knows one things is for sure. The Dark Lord sure knows some creepy dudes. Lanny however takes exception what happened, claiming Brimstone is stealing his gimmick. That he's the "poetry" guy. Okerlund suggests Poffo should say something to him next time he's out here. "The Genius" quickly suggests maybe his complaint would be better served with an e-mail. Rap music then begins to play and out comes...Brian Lawler?! He's dressed up in hip hop clothes and has Women's Champion Jacqueline Moore with him. On the mic he tells us he's "Too Cool" Brian Christopher and talks in street slang that makes poor Lanny's head spin. He tells us that he's tired of living in his father's shadow. That "The King" is an old, washed-up cracker who's hiding behind a table. He says that from now on he could give two shits about the Lawler name or Jerry's legacy and is ready to become his own man. Word.Match: Brian Lawler w/ Jacqueline vs. Douglas Williams "The U.K. Kidd" Douglas Williams is no push-over and gives Brian Law-- Christopher a run for his money as the two young grapplers battle back and forth with several nearfalls. The end comes when Williams goes for the Chaos Theory waist-lock backward roll transitioned into a bridged German Suplex and Brian fights his way out of it and surprises Doug with a kick to the gut followed by a sitout facebuster that gets Brian Christoper the three count from S.D. Jones. Afterward he celebrates with Jackie. After their match we're brought to a promo featuring "The Ring Master" Matt Borne and The Circus of Doom. Borne tells us that just like in the days of Rome, the management here at ECW is a fan of Breads and Circuses. But now that the Horsemen got their little Title shot, the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer had best be ready to face real challengers in the form of "The Ring Master" Matt Borne and the monstrous Pogo the Clown! Because after their win here today, they'll be poised to take things to the Big Top when they become the new ECW Tag-Team Champions! The Baron von Raschke is leading his son Aryan von Raschke down the hall backstage talking strategy when they're approached by "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango?!Shango who's with Destruction Inc. tells The Baron that they have much in common. A fire, a burning desire in their very soul that could engulf the entirety of ECW and the world! He says that already The Circus of Doom and Destruction Inc. have joined him on his fiendish crusade, enclosed in The Dark Circle. A place where he and The Dark Lord envision The Baron and his charges Aryan and the Blitzkrieg to stand by his side!
The Baron von Raschke looks disgusted and tells Papa Shango that he's crazy if he thinks he or his men would have anything to do with The Dark Circle. That they aren't evil.Match: Aryan von Raschke vs. Erin O'Grady "The Leprechaun" Erin O'Grady tosses his gold coins to the crowd from his cauldron before having a fast-paced, back and forth contest with Aryan von Raschke. O'Grady seems to have the match won when Aryan goes for a superplex off the top and Erin counters with a Tornado DDT! That wiley Baron throws his son's foot on the rope however and Davis, not seeing the Baron's involvement breaks the count. "The Leprechaun" keeps on top of Aryan for a bit, but the young von Raschke battles his way back and finishes the Irishman off with the Sieg Heil! superkick."Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the commercial break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from The Frost Arena in Brookings, South Dakota; our first show in the state. They tell us that while tickets for this show are sold out, those folks at home should be sure to tune in right here on Eastern Championship's home station; TNN The Nashville Network! Tag-Team Match: The Circus of Doom vs. Tommy Dreamer & Dustin Rhodes "The Ring Master" Matt Borne starts things off in this match officiated by S.D. Jones as he takes the fight right to "The American Nightmare" Dustin Rhodes! A bridging German Suplex gets Borne an early two count on Rhodes, who retaliates with a bulldog off the second rope to get a close two of his own. The two men battle back and forth until Dustin wears Borne down with a sleeper hold that has him looking to tag out. Rhodes however isn't having it and drags Matt to his corner where he tags in Tommy Dreamer. Together the duo nail Matt Borne with a double dose of DDT! But Borne kicks out just before the three.
Dreamer hands "The Ring Master" a beating using a fallaway slam, a DDT; and even his inverted crucifix cutter to put Borne away. Matt proves to be a resilient bastard however and keeps kicking out, looking worse the wear each time until he manages to block an attempted suplex from Dreamer and gets him caught in the Stump Puller single leg inverted Boston Crab! Tommy looks to be in trouble, but Borne is too beat up to keep him in the hold and letting go stumbles to his corner for the tag! And in comes Pogo the Clown!
But Dreamer makes the hot tag to Dustin Rhodes!
And going up top "The Nightmare" connects with a dropkick that gets Pogo reeling! Dustin keeps at the Clown, keeping him off his game with several kicks and punches before whipping the big man into the ropes and runs in for a clothesline! But Pogo connects with one of his own instead! And Dustin is now in trouble as the Clown begins hammering on Dustin with repeated stomps and chops! He lays Rhodes out with a front powerslam and the proceeds to pull the Tag Champ to his feet and lay him out with another. Pogo the Clown then runs the ropes and goes for a jumping Splash! Only to find nobody home! Dustin has rolled out of the way! And Tommy Dreamer wants in! Rhodes makes the hot tag! But he misses?! Because Tommy is pulled down off of the apron?!! By Chris Benoit?!!! "The Canadian Crippler" lets Dreamer have it with several chops into the apron before kicking him in the gut and nailng him with a snap suplex on the outside!!! Meanwhile inside the ring Pogo the Clown is back up and grabbing Dustin from behind traps him in the Clawhold! Rhodes screams for a bit as he struggles with the Clown who hoists him up into the air and Buries Him in the Basement! Matt Borne wants in however and gets the tag and going up top hits the Whoopie Cushion seated senton on Dustin Rhodes! He hooks the leg! 1!... 2!...
3! The Circus of Doom have defeated the Tag-Team Champions! Meahwile after a vicious beating at ringside Chris Benoit leaves a bloodied and battered Tommy Dreamer in his wake as ECW goes to...Back from the break Okerlund calls Chris Benoit one dangerous S.O.B. as Dustin Rhodes works with medics who remove a semi-conscious Tommy Dreamer from the arena. We're then brought backstage to the office of ECW President Eric Bischoff who's at his desk and looking mighty pissed. As the camera pans across the desk we see The Bayou Boys who look like they both swallowed a canary. Bischoff tells them that they were already on thin ice with this "Double" Lightweight Champion nonsense. And now they go and cut the Title in half?! Well Eric isn't going to sit here and let them disrespect that belt without consequences. Because disrespecting that Title of theirs is disrespecting this company. And that company belongs to Eric Aaron Bischoff! So next week they'd better get set. Because he has a special surprise match for the duo. And he promises Doug Gilbert and Cousin Jamie that "Double" heads will roll!Match: Luna Vachon w/ Matt Borne vs. Rockin' Robin Rockin' Robin gets in some decent offense here and there, but this match clearly belongs to "Mad Dog" Luna Vachon who dominates throughout before hitting Robin with the Luna Bomb corner slingshot splash to pick up the win from Danny Davis. After the match we're greeted by "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch who enters the ring and tells that he'd like to share with us a little something in honor of it being February and all; and he just feels like celebratin'. He then signals to the teleprompter and a video begins playing narrated by Murdoch himself entitled...
"GREAT Moments in Black History?! In Living Color Great Moments in Black History Season 1 Episode 1A video reel plays while Dick Murdoch educates us about how on July 20th, 1969 Apollo astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins; and Slick Johnson orbited the Moon. Collins remained in the command module while Armstrong, Aldrin; and Johnson landed the small lunar module on the Moon's surface. While the men were busy exploring the area, Armstrong received word from mission control that a system malfunction had left them with only enough fuel to take three of the four pioneers safely back to Earth. After conferring with Collins and Aldrin, Armstrong sent Johnson out to find a nice spot to play volleyball. Minutes later the landing module took off leaving Slick behind.
Slick: "Hey y'all! Quit playin' man! That's not funny! Come back here!" The mission was otherwise a perfect success and an embarrassed NASA deleted Johnson from all their official literature. Tonight we salute Slick Johnson, the first black man on the moon. I'm Dick Murdoch with another great moment in Black History. We are then taken backstage for a couple seconds in which we see Junkyard Dog looking at the tv set backstage who goes wide-eyed and spits his drunk across the room in surprise! He looks pissed as ECW takes a...Match: Ronnie Garvin vs. Devon Hughes Testify! Devon Hughes brings his A-game in this match against Ronnie Garvin in which the two men slug it off with Devon getting nearfalls following a falling Powerbomb and a spinebuster. Garvin gives as good as he gets, issuing a Garvin Stomp on Hughes, whom he later locks in the figure-four! Devon hollers in pain, but manages to crawl his way to the ropes breaking the hold. The damage is done however and although Devon Hughes gets in some good offense here and there afterward, he never fully recovers; and ends up tapping out to the sharpshooter.
S.D. Jones raises Garvin's hand in victory when suddenly the lights go out and mist fills the arena. Voodoo drums play as the Eastern States Champion Brimstone steps out with the entirety of The Dark Circle stands with him. He tells the "old man in the ring" that what he calls a cheap shot at King of the Mountain, Brimstone calls a mercy killing. That he could have destroyed Garvin any way he chose. But if "The Rugged One" has a death wish and wants to step into the ring with Brimstone. To challenge him for the impossible dream and wrest the Eastern States Title from the cold grip of The Dark Cicle; well all Brimstone has to say to that is this. He's got one.Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event which will see the ECW Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude in action for the first time since he won the Title at King of the Mountain in this non-Title match against "Hacksaw" Butch Reed! They then briefly talk about Reed's past involvement with the man Rude beat for the belt, Brickhouse Brown; who's gained new notoriety here in ECW after assuming the guise of "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango. Gene however doesn't think Brown is assuming anything. He thinks for all intents and purposes Brown is "The Soul Stealer." Lanny retorts that he has some magic beans to sell Gene after the show too.
Gertner: The following non-Title Match is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first accompanied to the ring by his manager The Reverend Slick, weighing 262 lbs. from Kansas City, Missouri; "Hacksaw" Butch Reed!
"Straight Outta Compton" by the NWA plays as Reed poses for the crowd while his manager Slick hypes him up until Rick Rude's strip theme hits and out comes "The Ravishing One" with the ECW Title around his waist.
Gertner: And now introducing his opponent this evening from Robbinsdale, Minnesota weighing 251 lbs. he is the Eastern Heavyweight Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude!Main Event: Rick Rude vs. Butch Reed Rick Rude opens his robe to give the fans a look at his Title and the girls a look at his body as he swings his hips. Danny Davis starts the match and Butch Reed charges the Champ with the two men locking up. "Hacksaw" keeps Rude on the back-step early on as the two men trade several punches; but eventually Butch drives Rick into the ropes where he climbs the second rope and reigns down punches on the Champs head. The fans don't count for him, but he gets to five before Rick manages to successfully block the assault and throw Reed down to the mat. "Hacksaw" however lands on his feet and coming in with a clothesline! But Rude ducks it and drops Butch with a neckbreaker.
Reed is back up however before Rick can even make a cover and attempting to keep him down Rude hammers him with punches. Seeing his man in trouble, Slick complains to Davis while Reed takes advantage by grabbing the Champ and chokes him out against the ropes! The ref returns and Butch launches Rick across the ring with a whip before nailing him with a snap scoop powerslam! 1!... 2!.. Rude kicks free! Butch hammers Rude in the back with a double axe handle strike, before flattening him with a knee drop. He pulls him to his feet and keeps control for a bit after hitting a double underhook suplex. Eventually he traps "Ravishing" in a bearhug and Rude begins to fade.
He doesn't give up however and wiggling free begins hammering his opponent across the ring as he mounts a comeback! Rick Rude whips the big man whom he lays out with a DDT! That gets him a two count as does a diving knee drop a bit later. Reed however isn't going down easily and soon the two men are slugging it out around the ring. Rude gets the worst of it and gets flattened with a military drop! Butch makes the cover, but Rude kicks free at two. Butch Reed is pissed and begins hammering on the ECW Champ as he pulls him up to his feet and hoists him up for another. But Rick Rude blocks it and rolls up his opponent! Small package! 1!... 2!..
Butch Reed kicks out! Rude keeps on top of Reed as the two men continue to brawl back and forth with Butch Reed knocking Rude out of his boots at one point (thanks to Slick) with a short-arm clothesline! Rick Rude however keeps control for most of the remainder of the match and ends up putting an end to Butch Reed with the Rude Awakening delayed hangman's neckbreaker.
Lights Fade.

2/27/95 - The Frost Arena Brookings, SD"Mean" Gene Okerlund and "The Genius" Lanny Poffo welcome us to The Frost Arena in Brookings, South Dakota for ECW's first show ever in the Mount Rushmore state! Lanny tells us it's only a matter of time before they add his face to that monument. Gene however doesn't think there's enough room for a head as big as Lanny's. Poffo doesn't seem to get the insult and says that it does have a big brain to house. They then begin discussing the happenings on last week's show including the Tag-Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Tommy Dreamer being defeated by The Circus of Doom, thanks at least in part to the actions of "The Canadian Crippler" Christ Benoit. They also talk about Eastern States Champion Brimstone accepting the challenge to his Title by "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin, ECW Champion Rick Rude defeating "Hacksaw" Butch Reed in the Main Event; and Eric Bischoff's promise to punish the so-called "Double" Lightweight Champions Cousin Jamie and Doug Gilbert, collectively known as The Bayou Boys for cutting the Championship in half. Poffo corrects Gene that the Boys actually used dynamite to destroy the Title. Then the lights go out, voodoo drums play; and smoke creeps through the arena while in the ring appear the men and woman collectively known as The Dark Circle! "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango is in the ring and in rare form tonight as he gives some voodoo theatrics before getting on the microphone. He tells us that the stars of Jupiter have aligned with the soul of Anubis. And the Dark Lord appeared to him amidst a dream. A dream of terror and fire. Flames and destruction. And in the middle of that flame came the severed head of the Dark Lord looking at him without eyes. And from those shallow pits he made it known that tonight. In this barren wasteland known as South Dakota he's been informed of one thing and one thing alone. That the "Soul Stealer" Papa Shango will walk out of this very arena the Eastern Heavyweight Champion!!! "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula then hits and from the back appear.ECW President Eric Bischoff who's with the ECW Champion Rick Rude! Rude is looking fairly confident in his rober with the Title about his waste while Bischoff talks on the mic. He says that his guess is that Shango reads the dirtsheets and... could probably use some pyschiatric help. But while he cannot say he's correct about walking out of here with the Eastern Heavyweight Title; he can tell us all here in Brookings, South Dakota on very exciting thing. And that's that the Eastern Heavyweight Championship will be defended here tonight! And ECW Champ "Ravishing" Rick Rude will face the very man he beat to win the belt; "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango!!
Shango seems very pleased with this, and lets out a war cry. Rick Rude however takes the mic and tells him to Cut the Voodoo Crap. Because he knew that this match tonight was coming sooner or later. And he knew that when it did he'd be put to the test, facing off against the man who ended his first run with the Title in "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango. But as of this moment Rick Rude and Papa Shango stand at an impasse. They've each defeated one another and taken the belt from one another exactly once. However, when he looks out into that ring, he sees a sea. A sea of interlopers. A mass of carrion. And he knows that it wouldn't be beyong "The Soul Stealer" to rob him of something else. For any one of those one, two, three; six men in the ring with him to rush in and take what's rightfully his. The ECW Championship. Which is why Rick Rude asked and ECW President Eric Bischoff so gratuously allowed for a little stipulation to be added to the match. Yeah ECW Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude will face "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango for the Title tonight. But it's gonna occur...
in a Steel Cage!
Papa Shango doesn't seem to like this news one bit. After the break The Bayou Boys are already in the ring and "The Redneck Rebel" Doug Gilbert is on the mic hollering to Eric tha he and Jamie are sorry about what they did to the ECW Light Heavyweight Title and that there's no need to punish them, because they fixed it! Cousin Jamie then holds the Title over his head and it's in one piece!
For a couple of seconds anyway, before the side Jamie isn't holding detaches and hits the floor. Lanny finds this particularly funny when it looks like the Boys put the Title back together with duct tape. Just then "White Train" by Tito & Tarantula comes on for the second time tonight and out swaggers ECW President Eric Bischoff from the back!He tells Doug and Jamie that if they had just insulted him it'd be one thing. "Easy E" is a forgive and forget kind of guy. But doing that to the Light Heavyweight Title? Well they insulted his company. And when you insult the company... It's time to get Nasty!! The crowd comes alive as suddenly The Nasty Boys appear on the ramp and storm the ring!!!Tag-Team Match: The Nasty Boys vs. The Bayou Boys The Bayou Boys don't know what to do as The Nasty Boys hit the ring and them upside the head as referee S.D. Jones starts the match! Okerlund is thrilled to see the Boys in ECW as Jerry Saggs batters on Cousin Jamie and Brian Knobbs does the same to Doug Gilbert. The "Double" Lightweight Champs barely get in any offense before Knobs nails each member of the Bayou with running powerslams before Jerry Saggs completes the duo's Trip to Nastyville as he comes off the top, landing a diving "Double" elbow drop on them both at the same time. The Nasty Boys are quite pleased with themselves and raise their hands in the air while Eric claps and the fans cheer...
when Gilbert & Jamie schoolboy the stunned duo! 1! 2! 3!
The Bayou Boys have won it?! Their excitement is short-lived however when Saggs and Knobs get back to their feet looking to get some payback! Jamie and Doug however are gone in the blink of an eye, running through the audience. Back from break Junkyard Dog is approached by The Reverend Slick and Butch Reed who want to know what the hell ol' Dickie Murdoch thought he was up to last week? They warn JYD that he'd better keep his boy in line or they'll do it for him.Match: Dean Malenko vs. Erin O'Grady Erin O'Grady takes the fight right to "Mean" Dean Malenko, getting in alot of offense including a hurrancnarana, a Tornado DDT; and a diving foot stomp off the top. Dean however gives better than he gets, with several suplexes, a leg lariat; and a brainbuster that scramble "The Leprechaun's" coins midway through the match. From there Erin O'Grady never really recovers and Dean Malenko gets him to throw in the towel to S.D. Jones via a backbreaker submission.Match: Pogo the Clown vs. Sexton HardcastleDanny Davis starts the match and young Sexton Hardcastle attempts to get some offense going against Pogo the Clown, who no-sells it. He then attempts to "sex up" the Clown, but that just gets the big man laughing maniacally. When Matt Borne slaps him in the face in his corner however, Pogo the Clown goes berserk on poor Sexton and he gets the snot knocked out of him before he is Buried in the Basement. Joe E. Legend who's at ringside attempts to help Hardcastle out of the ring afterward only to get Buried in the Basement himself.
Okerlund and Lanny talk a bit about how the Tag-Team Champions will have their work cut out for them when they've got to face The Circus of Doom for their Titles in the very near future."Mean" Gene and Lanny welcome us back from the break before reminding us that next week's show will be coming to us live from the Casper Civics Center in Casper, Wyoming and while tickets for that show are sold out; those folks at home should tune in right here on Eastern Championship's home station TNN The Nashville Network to catch all the ECW action live!Match: Steve Corino w/ Jason Venom vs. Rhino Steve Corino does well early on, playing stick and move with the much bigger Rhino whom he takes down with a drop toe hold before locking in the Camel Clutch. "The Man-Beast" attempts to get to the ropes, but "Mr. Wrestling" really has it locked in. Rhino finally breaks free however and throws Corino down to the mat with a snapmare. From there it's all Rhino as he hammers away on the former ECW Champ whom he attempts to pin following a front powerslam and later the Gore striking spear! Steve kicks out just before the three however and wisely rolls from the ring where he argues with referee S.D. Jones while Rhino stalks about the ring...
and walks right into a clothesline from big Jason Venom! The big man is quick to exit the ring and Steve Corino rolls back in to make the cover, picking up the big win. Okerlund is disgusted, calling "Mr. Wrestling" an unrepentent cheater who obviously hasn't changed his ways since last time he was in an ECW ring. Lanny is baffled however, not knowing what Gene is talking about. After the break we get another pre-recorded segment of "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch's Great Moments in Black History?! (Just substitute Murdoch for Tommy Davidson ;-))Black History Moment We then see an irate Junkyard Dog looking for Dick Murdoch in the back. He questions Rob Van Dam and The Hughes Brothers before learning from Eric Bischoff he's not here tonight. Back from the break ECW Correspondent Terri Runnels is in front of the ECW banner with... "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit! Benoit who's in sunglasses and a black trenchcoat just leers at an uncomfortable Terri who questions him about sporadic appearances here in ECW. Benoit remains quiet for an uncomfortably long time before telling Terri that what he's doing here in ECW is none of her damned business. In fact, it isn't the fans' business either. Because the only person he has business with here at Eastern Championship is this so-called "Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer. And all he need know is this time he's here to stay. Terri thanks Benoit for his time, but he just stands there until she leaves.Match: Tommy Dreamer w/ Dustin Rhodes vs. Chris Benoit Tommy Dreamer comes to the ring in a neck brace with his tag-team partner Dustin Rhodes. Lanny applauds Dreamer for being smart enough to bring back-up to the ring; but says he's still an idiot for not only requesting this match; especially while he's injured. "The Innovator of Violence" refuses a swig from Dustin Rhodes' flask, so Dustin shrugs and takes another himself. Just then Benoit's music plays and he storms down to the ring and charges a very determined looking Tommy Dreamer! The two men explode on one another with several punches, but grabbing Tommy; Benoit lets him have it with several knee strikes to soften him up before popping his hips with a suplex! Tommy hits his back hard and bounces into a seated position in the corner where Benoit proceeds to stomp a mudhole into him. Okerlund and Poffo discuss Benoit's history with Dreamer here in ECW, reminding us that Tommy Dreamer defeated Chris Benoit last year in a vicious Battle Royal to earn his contract here. A decision Lanny bets Dreamer is regretting now.
Chris Benoit nails Tommy Dreamer with three consecutive German suplexes! Dreamer doesn't seem to be moving as Benoit makes the cover. 1!... 2!...
"The Innovator" kicks out! Poffo reminds us Tommy's an idiot. Chris is looking really pissed now and grabbing Dreamer who's crawling toward the ropes rips off the neckbrace! He then puts him in a rear headlock! Okerlund is screaming that someone should do something, Benoit is looking to break Tommy's neck! Dustin Rhodes comes running in and bashes Benoit from behind! Her hammers on Chris who soons recovers and trades punches with Dustin for a bit before whipping him into the ropes where he clotheslines him from the ring! Tommy Dreamer meanwhile has pulled himself up to his knees with the ropes and he looks to be in major pain and he gropes his neck. Chris Benoit don't care and grabbing his opponent tosses him into the center of the ring! Danny Davis cares however and calls for an end to the match. "The Canadian Crippler" doesn't care about this either and makes a slashing motion across his throat before locking in the Crippler Crossface on Dreamer! Tommy taps, but Benoit who has a sadistic look of glee on his face takes his time before letting go and leaves the ring.
Once again Dustin Rhodes is checking on his partner while paramedics come and hook Tommy Dreamer up to a stretcher while ECW goes to...Match: Jacqueline Moore w/ Brian Lawler vs. La Diabolica] The Women's Champion Jacqueline Moore comes out raising her Title triumphantly arm in arm with "Too Cool" Brian Christopher. Once inside the ring she locks up with La Diabolica for a fast paced contest which sees the high-flying masked luchadoress take Moore down with a Frankenstiener and later a hurrancanrana off the the top. She gets a two count off the latter but Jacqueline is in control for most of the match and puts her challenger away with a bridged German Suplex. S.D. Jones makes the count.Okerlund and Poffo welcome us back from the last commercial break of the evening before hyping tonight's huge Main Event in which former Champ "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango will get his rematch for the ECW Title when he faces off against ECW Champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude in a Steel Cage! They then touch on Rick Rude's history with Papa Shango in both his incarnations, starting with his feud with the voodoo priest over the summer of 1994 when Papa Shango defeated him to earn a shot at the Eastern Heavyweight Championship at Hotter Than Hell. Shango lost that match which also took place in a Steel Cage to then Champ "Macho Man" Randy Savage due in part to interference on the part of Rude himself.
After that match Papa Shango vanished from ECW until he mysteriously returned this past October 31st; attacking "The Ravishing One" after he defended the ECW Title against the Junkyard Dog. Papa Shango made it his mission to make Rude's life miserable, waging a war with him which culiminated at Wrestle Annual II where the rivals squared off for the Title with "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango walked away the ECW Champion! Down, but not out Rick made a comeback and at King of the Mountain '96 got his chance to reclaim the Title from Shango in a Triple Threat Match against him and the "Macho Man" Randy Savage. And Rick Rude walked out of the St. Paul Civic Center that night the ECW Champion! That match took place just a little over two weeks ago and tonight "Ravishing" Rick Rude will defend his Title against the man who ended his last reign, Papa Shango; in a Steel Cage!
Gertner: The following Steel Cage contest is for the Eastern Heavyweight Championship and can only be one by pinfall, submission; or escaping the cage. Introducing first the challenger weighing in at 270 lbs. from The Bowels of Hell, Delaware; he is "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango!
There's a small delay after Gertner stops speaking when suddenly the lights go out and mist fills the arena while voodoo drums play. Fire bursts from the four corners of the cage top and in the light appears "The Soul Stealer" Papa Shango! Danny Davis looks a little spooked at ringside. He checks Shango for weapons when Rick Rude's strip theme hits and out swaggers the ECW Champion in his robe.
Gertner: And now introducing at this time hailing from Robbinsdale, Minnesota weighing in at 251 lbs. on perfection; he is the Eastern Heavyweight Champion; "Ravishing" Rick Rude!Main Event Steel Cage ECW Championship Match: Rick Rude (c) vs. Papa Shango Rick Rude doesn't seem to pay Papa Shango any mind as he opens his robe to show off his belt for the fans and does a little dance for the ladies. "The Soul Stealer" however takes exception to this and attacks the Champion! Rude retreats, but Shango keeps coming hammering away at him until Rude manages to break free and lets Shango have it with a kick to the mid-section. The voodoo priest however seems unphased and begins "summoning the spirits!" Rick looks at the former Champ like he has two heads and gives a quick crazy sign. Shango looks pissed by this and comes rushing in again! But Rude ducks it and fires back with several punches! He drives Shango back into the ropes where he goes for a whip; but "The Soul Stealer" reverses it and lets Rude have it with a dropkick! Staggered, Rick reels into the ropes and Papa Shango is right on him. He hammers Rude's head into the cage repeatedly until Rick blocks it and nails him with smashes him in the face with his head! Caught off guard, Shango staggers back and Rick Rude surprises him again with a sunset flip!
He fails to take Shango over however and the challenger drops down onto Rude's chest and begins hammering him in the face! Rude however claws his way free throwing Shango off, but Papa keeps on him and hoisting him up onto his shoulder hits Rude with a running powerslam right into the steel cage! Rude looks in a bad way while Shango wastes some time with his voodoo shenanigans. After several seconds of this Rude manages to get up to one knee, but Papa Shango is quick to grab him and once again hammers the Champ's face into the steel before throwing him into the ropes where he ties him up! A bound Rick Rude struggles to free himself while Papa Shango heads across the ring and begins climbing the cage! Lanny wonders why the voodoo priest just didn't ride his broom out of the ring and Okerlund reminds him that's a witch. Shango meanwhile is approaching the top of the cage!
But Rick Rude has wiggled free and charging across slams into the cage, shaking the challenger up! Shango manages to hang on however and Rude climbs up to get him where the two men battle it out! Rude gets the better of Papa as the duo go punch for punch and steadying himself on the top rope, Rick Rude grabs Shango and hits a suplex! The move takes it's toll on both men and they stay down for a bit. Rick Rude however is up first and leaping up lets Shango have it with a hasty double axe-handle before pulling his opponent up to his feet. He hammers on "The Soul Stealer" a little before running him head first into the cage! And as Shango bounces off it, Rick Rude hoists hits him with a front poweslam and makes te cover! 1!... 2!
Papa kicks free! Rick Rude down on one knee hammers "The Soul Stealer" for a bit, but Papa Shango lets him have it with a face full of voodoo mist! Okerlund is quick to remind us that Steel Cage matches are no disqualification matches and that back in December Shango used the same trick to steal the Title from "The Ravishing One!" Rude meanwhile screams in pain and clutching his face staggers about the ring while Papa Shango climbs up top and goes airborne! He takes Rude down hard with a flying clothesline and goes for the cover! He hooks the leg! 1! 2!...
Rude just barely kicks out! 3! Rude is red-eyed and still in pain as Papa Shango dominates the match for several minutes. He hammers Rude about the ring and attempts another pin following a Voodoo Driver slingshot suplex. Rude just barely walks away from it and a frustrated Shango ends up locking him in a rear headlock, attempting to get the Champ to tap. Rude refuses the offer however and starts to make a comeback! Shango attempts to keep him down as best he can, but Rick won't stay down and buys himself some breathing room with a sitout jawbreaker! Both men are down again, but this time Rick Rude is up first. He rubs his eyes a bit, but when Shango attempts to get up the Champ stomps him out! He then pulls Shango up to his feet and hits a release snap suplex before crawling over for the cover! 1!... 2!
Papa kicks out! Rude hammers his opponent on the floor and pulling him up treats him to a couple of knee strikes followed by several chops! He smacks Papa Shango about the ring a bit before laying Shango flat with a DDT. Rick then stumbles over to the ropes where he rests for several seconds before beginning the climb up top. He's made good progress when suddenly at ringside appear...The Dark Circle! They surround the ring and Rude ends up seated at the top yelling at them to leave. Referee S.D. Jones who's guarding the cage door tries to get them to leave, but Brimstone gets in his face! And he's demanding the key! Jones refuses, so the Eastern States Champion grabs the stunned official and hits him with a chokeslam! He then takes the key and heads to the cage door! Now inside the ring, Brimstone begins to climb up after Rick Rude! Sitting up top Rude looks like he's going to climb down, but the entire Dark Circle is down there waiting for him. Lanny talks about Rude being in a real rock and a hard place here. Keep the belt and get your ass kicked, or get back into the cage and possibly lose it anyway. Gene is just disgusted by this whole turn of events. Brimstone is now halfway up the cage and grabbing at Rude's feet while the Champ kicks him away! On the outside ECW President Eric Bischoff has shown up with members of security and several wrestlers from the locker room to clear the Dark Circle away; but it's too late. Rick Rude has come down to fight off Brimstone and the big man has knocked him down to the canvas! Papa Shango is now back up and he's choking out the Champ! Referee Danny Davis trying to get him to stop, but Brimstone pushes him away. Papa Shango then whips Rude across the ring, setting him up for a big boot from the man known as Brimstone! But before he can deliver the kick, Brimstone is grabbed from behind, spun about; and beaten back toward the ropes by...Sir William Regal! Regal is back! And he's pounding on the man who beat him for the Eastern States Title at King of the Mountain! And he hits Brimstone with a release German suplex! Brimstone hits his ass hard and tumbles out of the ring via the cage door. He's incensed at Regal on the outside and running across the ring Sir William tackles him with a tope dive! Papa Shango witnesses this in stunned silence. But this has bought Rick Rude the time he needed to recover and leaping to his feet he takes Shango down with a running clothesline! Papa hits the ground and comes right back up only to get nailed by another! When the voodoo priest pops up a second time he falls victim to the Rude Awakening delayed hangman's neckbreaker! Rick Rude hooks Papa Shango's leg! 1!... 2!...
3! Rick Rude has retained the ECW Title! Davis raises his hand in victory and the...
Lights Fade.
