MERCER: Welcome to World Class Championship Wrestling! We have a Texas Title match today as Gary Hart's man, Al Perez defends against Arlington native Brian Adias! The Missing Link, accompanied by Sunshine, will tke on Fabulous Blonde Buddy Roberts! “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert will make his World Class debut, as will that super heroic and incredibly patriotic masked wrestler, the red, white, and blue man, the Patriot! We will start our program this week with the most powerful member of the Fabulous Blondes, Mr. Magnificent! If you saw the Parade of Champions, you saw what this muscular young man is capable of! If you missed it, watch this!
VTR:
Highlights from Parade of Champions(See it here- atomicgiants.proboards.com/thread/2350/wccw-parade-champions-28-1988 ) . Mr. Magnificent injures Lance Von Erich and wreaks havoc in the Triple Dome of Terror.
“Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly (w/Eric Embry) vs. Pat Rose: Completely one sided bout with Mr. Magnificent using the full nelson to finish off his overwhelmed opponent.
Sid Vicious joins Bill Mercer at the broadcast position!
MERCER: Sid Vicious has joined me here! Great to see you as always!
SID: Bill, it's always good to be here at the good ol Sportatorium! I came here to get a good look at that Mr. Magnificent guy! I also have a piece of tape, I'd like everybody to see...
VTR:
Sid Vicious is sitting on a couch in somebody's nicely furnished living room. Lance Von Erich also sits on the couch, wearing a neck brace.
SID: Lance Von Erich was nice enough to invite us into his home here today. Lance, we all saw you suffer an injury at Texas Stadium and all your fans are wondering how you feel.
LANCE: The neck is still sore, Sid. The full nelson is a simple, elementary hold, but somehow, this Mr. Magnificent has turned it into a dangerous thing! It felt like my head was going to burst and my eyes were about to pop out of my head! My neck felt like somebody was driving a spike into it!
SID: He did a lot of damage that day! I had my hands full with Ron Bass or I'd have done something to stop him!
LANCE: Well, Sid, I'd like to put an end to all this stuff he's doing, but my doctor says to stay out of the ring for a few months! The Youngbloods have left World Class after what happened. Somebody needs to put the quietus on this guy and you might be the man to do it, Sid!
SID: You and your uncle helped me start my career. I owe everything to you guys! Kevin Kelly isn't gonna get away with this!
Cut back to the Sportatorium.
SID: Bill Mercer, I'm demanding a match with this so called “Mr. Magnificent”! Nobody injures a friend of mine! Kelly, I'll even do it on your terms! Let's have a SUBMISSION MATCH!!! Let's see if you can put Sid Vicious away with that full nelson of yours!
MERCER: what is your submission hold?
SID: I have learned a hold, Bill Mercer, and when I put it on Kevin Kelly, he'll beg for mercy!
MERCER: We'll be right back with some importan information from Fritz Von Erich!

Mark Lowrance is seated on a chair in a blackened studio with the WCCW logo in the background. There is an empty chair next to his right.
LOWRANCE: Wrestling fans, on July 5th, in Reunion Arena, in downtown Dallas, Texas, World Class will present “The Firecracker Spectacular”! I'm joined at this time by World Class President Fritz Von Erich. Fritz, I understand there is big news!
Fritz joins Mark...
FRITZ: Mark, first, I'm proud to announce that Ronnie Garvin will defend the American Title against one of the top wrestlers in the world that night!
MARK: Who will it be, Fritz?
FRITZ: Next week, right here on television, we will have a four man tournament and the winner will be Garvin's challenger! The four wrestlers will be Brad Armstrong, Texas Champion Al Perez( if he is still champion after today's match), Tito Santana, & Eddie Gilbert!
MARK: What a great lineup of wrestlers! Fans, you cannot miss next week's program!
FRITZ: You also heard Sid make a challenge out here earlier! I have signed that match! A submission match between Sid Vicious and Kevin Kelly! A match that can only be won with a submission hold!
MARK: I have to ask or I'd be negligent: You trained Sid Vicious. Did you teach him the Von Erich Iron Claw?
FRITZ: I have taught the secrets of my Iron Claw to only five men: Their names are Kevin, David, Kerry, Mike, and Lance Von Erich! No, I did not teach Sid how to apply the claw! I hope he has something up his sleeve because that full nelson that this Kelly boy has is deadly!
MARK: We heard a challenge made for a six man tag team match last week...
FRITZ: It has been signed! Blackjack Mulligan and his sons, Barry & Kendall Windham, against Big John Studd, Terry Funk, and a man that Terry Funk is going to tell us about right now! Mark, We'll be back next week with more news about this outstanding night of wrestling!
VTR:
Terry Funk stands in what appears to be a dressing room. Big John Studd stands by his side.
FUNK: Last week, Big John Studd here whispered a name in my ear and it was music to my ears!Bobby Jack Mulligan, you overstuffed gorilla, you bring your punk sons on down to Reunion Arena! You have your little family reunion! Because the third man on our team loves to crash a party! He loves to break bones! He loves the taste of blood! They say “Terry Funk, you are middle aged crazy!” Well, there is a man coming to the Firecracker Spectacular who makes me look completely sane! World Class, are you ready for THE MAD DOG???
We cut to a music video set to this song...
Footage of Sawyer from various territories. Hitting powerslams. Coming off the top rope. Biting opponents. Rubbing opponent's faces in the mat or in a cage. Sawyer in dog collar chain matches. The segment ends with Sawyer, Funk, and Studd lipsynching the lyrics of the song.

Coming out of the break, Bob “The Cat” Bradley stands in the ring. We hear...
...and here comes THE PATRIOT!!! He's waving Old Glory and the Sportatorium crowd is rockin!
The Patriot vs. Bob “The Cat” Bradley: The Patriot looks unstoppable for the first few minutes of the match. Then, Warlord Jonathan Boyd comes to ringside, waving his New Zealand flag, followed by the Iron Sheik, waving the Iranian flag! Bradley is plenty tough enough without the distraction, but with the distraction, he takes control of the match. The Patriot looks like his debut may be spoiled, but he finally hits a shoulder tackle off the top rope to score the pin! Mark Lowrance is ready to interview the Patriot at ringside, but it looks like Boyd and Sheik have hijacked the interview!
LOWRANCE: Why are you two down here trying to get involved in this match? You have no business...
BOYD: You blood Yanks love to talk about freedom in this country! Freedom of speech and freedom to express yourself! You talk about how bloody wonderful it is to be proud of your country! But when Sheik and myself express pride in our great countries, you cry like a baby! What bloody hypocrisy!
SHEIK: Iran is number one! You stupid Americans no say “USA!”
MARK: (to the Patriot) I'm sorry. This should be your interview time!
PATRIOT: That's ok! I'd rather do my talking up in the ring! I've got a proposition for you jerks! Next week, my ol buddy, Corporal Kirchner, a proud American and a former Airborne Ranger, will be in town! Why don't you guys bring your flags and we'll bring Old Glory! Then we'll get it on in a tag team match!
BOYD: You'd better have your Blue Cross paid up, Yank!
SHEIK: We'll show everybody how weak Americans are! HACK phooey!
LOWRANCE: We'll look forward to that next week!

As we come out of the break, we hear this music playing..
And we see this couple headed toward the Sportatorium ring...
“Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (w/Missy Hyatt) vs. Mitch Snow: On commentary, Mercer really puts Gilbert over as a major star. Snow gets some offense in, but it's obvious from the start that he is outclassed by Gilbert. Eddie gets the pin after executing the Hot Shot. Afterwards, Gilbert gets a big kiss from Missy and then a hug from his brother Doug, who comes to the ring. The First Family is looking good!
COMMERCIAL
Missing Link (w/Sunshine) vs. Buddy Roberts: The wildman takes on the wily veteran in this fun match. When the bout spills out of the ring, there's nothing else for Rick Hazzard to do, but count both men out!

TEXAS TITLE MATCH: Al Perez (w/Gary Hart) © vs. Brian Adias: Adias is very aggressive early on and keeps Perez on the defensive for most of the match. Adias gets the champ up for the airplane spin, but the “Latin Heartthrob” slides off his shoulders, gets behind Adias and hits a perfect German suplex to score the win and retain the title. Perez looks primed and ready for the big tournament next week.
MERCER: Right now, Eddie Gilbert has comments about his big opportunity next week.
Cut to the dressing room where Eddie Gilbert is seated on a folding chair, getting a shoulder massage from Missy Hyatt.
GILBERT: Very impressive, Al Perez! The only bad part is that wasn't Hot Stuff you were in there with!
MISSY: Not even close!
GILBERT: Next week, it's a four man tournament to see who gets the title match with Ronnie Garvin on July 5th! I'll spoil your surprise, people! It's gonna be Eddie Gilbert! Brad Armstrong is really good! Tito Santana is really good! You just saw how good your Texas Champion is! Eddie Gilbert is the best! Not only am I the best, I will do absolutely whatever it takes to get that title match! Wrestling isn't merely a sport to me! It's a battle for survival where I do whatever it takes to be the best! If I have to injure Brad or Tito or Al....if I have to end their careers, it's ok! As long as I end up with that title! Whatever it takes boys! Whatever. It. Takes!
