Matches on this Show:
- The Russian Assassin pinned Scott Armstrong to win the Beat the Champ TV Title. Afterwards, he gave Armstrong a second over the knee backbreaker. Ivan and Vladimir joined him, and Vlad gave Scott a Russian Hammer while Ivan waved the Russian flag. The Bullet ran out to make the save with a chair in hand. All 3 Russians left, but Ivan was pointing at, and issuing warnings to The Bullet.
- The Rock & Roll Express def. The Blonde Bombers, Rip Rogers and Ken Timbs with a double dropkick on Rip.
Interviews on this show:
- Manager Ron Wright was giddy in his interview with Les Thatcher. He said he had found THE man to manager and take to the top of SMW, and at the same time, make a lot of money to get his health in order. He warned Thatcher that Pez Whatley was done for on Tuesday night in Knoxville.
- “Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan was seething to get his hands on the Russians. Tonight in Chattanooga, he gets Ivan in a Coal Miners Glove match, and on July 4th in Knoxville he gets Vladimir Pietrov one on one. He is also excited for the boot camp match on July 13 in Ashville against all 3 Russians as he has Sgt. Slaughter and Nikita Koloff coming to town to be his partners. He said he has a tough road over the next two weeks on the Hot Summer Nights tour, as he has to face many different challengers to the SMW title, but at the end, ol’ Hacksaw will still be standing tall.
-“Pistol” Pez Whatley is ready for whoever Ron Wright has found to manage, and he’s also ready to win one of those Thunderdome battle royals and go on to Johnson City on the 15th and win the final one and the $25,000!
The Russians were full of boast about claiming the TV title for Russia today, and tonight, Ivan is going to leave Duggan in bad shape before his big match with Vladimir on July 4 in Knoxville, and then the SMW title will belong to Mother Russian too.
To the Hot Summer Nights Update with Joe Pedicino who was joined by promoter Ron Fuller for a lengthy look at the Hot Summer Nights tour that is kicking off tonight in Chattanooga TN. Fuller explained the Thunderdome Battle Royals, saying that it’s come dressed as you are, anything goes matches where you eliminate opponents by throwing them over the top rope to the floor. When it gets down to the last two men in the ring, you only win by pinfall or submission. The finals of these battle royals will be the last night of the tour on July 15 in Johnson City TN. To qualify for the finals, you have to win one of the Thunderdome Battle Royals during the tour. The winner of the finals will win $25,000! Winning one of the qualifiers pays a $1000 bonus as well. Pedicino said that top wrestlers from all over the country want to be a part of these matches to win the money, and then he introduced a series of VTRs from those competitors coming to the Hot Summer Nights Tour:
- Wahoo McDaniel said he’ll see all the great fans in Gatlinburg TN tomorrow night, and he’s bringing his Indian Strap with him and he’ll use it to win the Thunderdome!
- Ron Garvin said that $25,000 is a lot of money, and he plans to win the Thunderdome! While he is in the area, he plans on settling a few old scores too with some people, namely Ivan Koloff and The Midnight Express.
- Doug Furnas said he’s coming to Knoxville on July 4 to win the Thunderdome for all his great fans there, and then he’ll win the finals in Johnson City
- The masked Tennessee Stud said it’s going to be great to be back home in Tennessee, and everybody else better watch out, because he’s coming to win the Thunderdome.
- “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant said the Thunderdome is like a street fight, so it’s his kind of match, and he’s taking home the bacon daddy!
- Nikita Koloff said that his Russian Sickle is all the weapon he needs to win the Thunderdome, and he can’t wait to use it on uncle Ivan and Vladimir in the boot camp match in Ashville!
- The Great Kabuki just stared into the camera through the slit in his mask for a moment before stepping back and doing a nunchuk exhibition without saying a word.
Back to the update center where Pedicino and Fuller commented on how dangerous Kabuki looks and with his martial arts skills, he very well could win the Thunderdome.
The two of them then ran down the full schedule of the Hot Summer Nights tour, and advertised some of the matches the fans in the cities will see:

Fuller stated that if Duggan loses the SMW title at any point on the tour, the new champion will take over his title defense schedule, the same goes for the SMW Tag Team titles, even though six different matches have been signed between the Rock & Roll Express and the Midnight Express. Those matches will still happen even if neither team are the champions.
Pedicino re-iterated that all the top stars of Smoky Mountain Wrestling will be on these cards in the top matches that can be put together. This will be the biggest event of the year for SMW and the fans shouldn’t miss the incredible action if they are close enough to come out. Fuller then suggested even driving from hours away…that’s how good these cards are going to be!
With that, Pedicino and Fuller signed off for this week, and urged the fans to be in Chattanooga tonight, and on July 4, come out to Chilhowee Park in Knoxville and celebrate Independence Day with SMW and end the night with fireworks!
