The show begins with Ralph Pulley paying tribute to America by singing “God Bless the USA”. The patriotic Dallas crowd applauds wildly.
1.Steve Simpson vs. Buddy Roberts: Simpson's athleticism and speed give the veteran Buddy “Jack” fits. At around the five minute mark. Fabulous Blondes Eric Embry & Ken Timbs make their way to the ring for some unknown reason. Roberts scores the pin at 9:22 after knocking Simpson out with a loaded glove that Ken Timbs handed him!Roberts leaves the ring with Embry & Timbs and the three of them seem very chummy!
2.Kabuki & the Missing Link (w/Paul Jones & Gary Hart) vs. Mark & Chris Youngblood: A wild and wooly match with several near falls. Kabuki uses the green mist to blind Chris as Jones distracts referee bronko Lubich. Link takes advantage of the situation and pins Chris at the 10:22 mark after a flying headbutt!
3.Mil Mascaras vs. Gorgeous Gary Young: The Mexican legend puts on quite a show as he pins Young with a flying bodypress after 8:59 of action.
4.Giant Baba vs. Eli The Eliminator: Eli breaks every rule in the book and shows a ton of potential, but he also runs into a huge boot to the face and Baba gets the duke at 9:12.
Mark Lowrance comes to the ring and takes the mic...
LOWRANCE: World Class Championship Wrestling continues to buils a roster of the top talent from across the globe! I'm very announced to welcome the latest international star to sign with WCCW, a man who any true wrestling fan will know and respect.....
RONNIE GARVIN!!!!!
Garvin makes his way to the ring, taking the time to high five fans as he goes. He enters the ring and shakes Lowrance's hand.
LOWRANCE: Welcome to Dallas!
GARVIN: I'm glad to be here! I heard all about this place from my younger brother, Jim. (smattering of boos) That's ok, I don't usually see eye to eye with him myself!(chuckles) One thing I know: the toughest competition in the country is right here in World Class!The World Champion is here tonight! Flair, I been chasing you all over the world, brother! Next time, you come to Texas, I'll be right here waiting for you! You have a lot of great wrestlers around here! The Killer Bees! Iron Sheik! Blackjack Mulligan! Austin Idol! Many, many others! You know what, I don't claim to be the biggest, the fastest, or the strongest! But, I'll say this much! I'll never stop fighting until my heart stops beating! I'll give it everything I got, right down to the last drop of sweat and blood! What is this?
PAUL JONES AND KABUKI ENTER THE RING!
JONES: Ron Garvin, old friend! It's Paul Jones, you surely remember me...
GARVIN : (glaring) I'm sorry to say that I do!
JONES: Ha! Always the kidder! Look, Ron, Gary Hart and myself have put together J&H International, the greatest organization in wrestling today! We can provide you with a package of compensation and benefits that is second to none!
GARVIN: Jones, I don't need a pair of blood sucking leeches taking 20% of every dime I make! And I don't need to associate with freaks like this guy you brought down here with you!
JONES: Garvin, don't do something you'll regret!
Kabuki attempts a thrust kick on Garvin! Ronnie ducks and flattens Kabuki with a right hand! Jones tries a sucker punch..Garvin decks Jones!
GARVIN: (to Lowrance) Sorry about that! (to fans) That's a preview of what you can expect from me!
Garvin leaves to a standing ovation!
We cut to the dressing room where Eric Embry, Ken Timbs, and Buddy Roberts are standing by....
ROBERTS: This is the greatest wrestling group going today! Even better than the Freebirds! Stop the presses! Get ready to break into all of the TV shows! Buddy Roberts has joined the Fabulous Blondes! We'll be better than the Freebirds! Bigger than the Von Erichs or Devastation, Inc. or the Four Horsemen! Better than J&H International or any other stable! I've got my old pal, Ken Timbs! I've got the Texas Champion, Eric Embry! Add me to the mix and we are unstoppable!
TIMBS: And there's more to come! A man is coming soon that will make us even better ! 1988 will be the year of the Blonde!
EMBRY: Simpson, I told you not to interfere in Blondes' business! You just found out the hard way! Later tonigh, Bill Dundee is gonna find out the hard way, too! Dundee, it's real simple man! I'm gonna drop you on your head and show everybody who has the best piledriver and who is the greatest Texas Champion of all time!
5.Sid Vicious, Wahoo McDaniel, & Blackjack Mulligan(w/Fritz Von Erich) vs. Big John Studd &
??: Fritz leads his protegee Sid two the ring along with two of the young man's veteran mentors. Big John Studd makes his way down the aisle, followed by his two partners....
Adrian Adonis! Adonis is in full Hell's Kitchen mode with the leather jacket, cap, and gloves. Not a sign of the “Adorable gimmick! Following Adonis...
Former American Champion “Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol!!! Not really a shock since he and Studd came to WCCW together! Regardless, Studd has put together an awesome team for Star Wars!
Wahoo starts for his team. At first, he dominates the action, but then Studd's team isolates him in their corner and soon, McDaniel is a bloody mess! Wahoo manages to tag in Blackjack and a similar pattern emerges. Mulligan kicks tail at first only to fall prey to double teaming and other illegal tactics. After a vicious beating, Blackjack manages to tag in Sid!
The more experienced heels work Vicious over for several minutes, but he makes a remarkable comeback, hits the powerbomb on Studd and gets the pin at the 15:22 mark as the crowd goes wild!
The New Breed (Sean Royal & Chris Champion) vs. The Killer Bees( Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell): These two teams have been feuding, mostly verbally, and meet tonight in their first high profile match. The Bees look dominant early on, but that changes when Blair misses a top rope elbow on Royal. For the next several minutes, the New Breed idolate and dominate the Tampa native, scoring several near falls in the process. Blair finally makes the hot tag to “Jumpin Jim” and his partner goes wild on the New Breed! It looks like the end as Brunzell hits the big dropkick on Royal! One...TWO...THREee.....the bell rings! The New Breed is saved by the bell as the match ends in a 30 minute draw! There's a staredown between these two teams that leads me to believe this is far from over!
We cut to the dressing room and Mark Lowrance....
LOWRANCE: I'm here with Dutch Mantel. In just a few moments, you'll be attached to Lance Von Erich with Wahoo McDaniel's 10 foot leather strap. Lance is looking for revenge for the lashing you gave him with the bullwhip you carry...
MANTEL: That boy is gonna be lookin for a new line of work after tonight, Lowrance! Lance, you punk, your daddy and uncle will be sorry that they let you break into the family business! Wahoo, you old cigar store fossil, you convinced this kid he could beat me if they hooked us together with that strap of yours! All you've accomplished is getting that boy hurt! The Von Erichs blackballed me outta Texas for years because they'd know I'd show the pretty boys up and show everybody what a true Texan is! (cracks Shoo Baby) Tonight, I'm running the last Von Erich boy out of my state!
INDIAN STRAP MATCH: Dutch Mantel vs. Lance Von Erich: Early on, it looks like Dutch will live up to the boasts of his earlier interviews as he beats Lance from pillar to post! Lance makes a remarkable comeback that culminates with the Iron Claw! Von Erich applies the claw until Dutch is semiconscious and follows up by dragging Dutch around the ring and touching all four corners for the win at the 13:27 mark!
PILEDRIVER MATCH FOR TEXAS TITLE: Eric Embry © vs. Superstar Bill Dundee: Embry makes a spectacular entrance with smoke and lights and accompanied by his Fabulous Blonde cronies, Buddy Roberts & Ken Timbs! Dundee enters alone and wearing one his Elvis style jumpsuits. The momentume goes back and for the between these two with Dundee gaining the advantage by brawling while Embry seems to rely on various foreign objects that the other two Blondes supply to him. Finally, referee David Manning has enough and banishes Timbs and Roberts to the dressing room! This seems to fire the Superstar up and he immediately starts to set up for the piledriver. Dundee gets Embry in position for the move, but as he lifts Embry, Eric's foot hits David Manning upside the head and knocks him out of the ring! This hinders Dundee from executing the move and Embry is able to backdrop the Superstar! As Dundee struggles to his feet, Embry pulls a plastic bag of powder out of his tights and throws the powder into Dundee's eyes! The blinded Dundee walks right into a kick to the gut by Embry...folloed by a PILEDRIVER! The ref crawls back into the ring in time to see Embry hit the piledriver and cover the Superstar! One...Two...Three! Embry wins the piledriver match at 19:01 and retains his championship!
LOWRANCE: I'm back here in the dressing room area with the very popular Tito Santana! A man who is in the fight of his life tonight, a Barrio Fight, with the Ragin Bull, Manny Fernandez!
TITO: Fernandez, I don't know what your problem is, but I plan on solving it for you here in Reunion Arena tonight! I could be wrestling for the Texas Title, the American Title, or even the World Heavyweight Title tonight, but instead, I'm fighting you! I'm a professional athelete, not a street fighter, but if you want a fight, you've got it, Manny! I plan on ending this thing with you right here! I've got my T shirt, my jeans, my cowboy boots, and my fists are taped! If you wanna get down and dirty, we can do it right here tonight! Arriba!
BARRIO FIGHT: “RAGIN BULL” MANNY FERNANDEZ VS. TITO SANTANA: This match is no DQ, no time limit, no COR, and only ends when a man can't answer the 10 count. Both men wear street clothes and have taped fists! Before Bronko Lubich can call for the bell, these two rivals tear into each other like a pair of wild animals! Fernandez takes off one of his work boots and uses it to batter and bloody Tito! Santana manages to disarm Fernandez and starts one of his fiery comebacks! Manny pulls a roll of coins out of his pocket , but Tito dropkicks him before he can use it! Fernandez goes down and Tito picks up the weapon and sticks it into his own pocket! After several more minutes of brawling, the action spills to the floor and the Bull gets the advantage! Fernandez attempts to whip Santana into the ringpost, but Tito reverses and Manny goes facefirst into the steel! Tito rolls back into the ring and the ref starts counting the Ragin Bull down! One...two...three...four...five...six...seven...eight...nine...Incredibly, Fernandez gets to his feet! Fernandez grabs a steel chair and heads back into the ring! Manny swings the chair at Tito, but Tito sidesteps! The chair hits the ropes, bounces back and hits Fernandez right in the face! Fernadez is staggering, but doesn't go down! Tito reaches into his pocket and retrieves the roll of quarters! Tito swings and nails Manny upside the head! Coins fly everywhere and Fernandez goes down! Bronko counts! One! Two! Three! Four! Five! Six! Seven! Eight! Nine! Ten! TITO WINS THE BARRIO FIGHT!!!! What a brutal match!
AMERICAN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: TERRY & DORY FUNK © VS. CHAVO & HECTOR GUERRERO: Early on, the Guerreros use their quick tags and high flying offense to keep the champions off balance. The tide turns when Hector misses a flying shoulder block and the Funks isolate him on their side of the ring. Hector gets a terrible beating and a frustrated Chavo can do nothing to help. Finally, Hector makes the hot tag and Chavo hits the ring! Chavo looks like the international star that he is as he puts on a clinic against the Funks! At the 13:33 mark, Chavo locks Dory in the Gory Special and gets the submission victory! We have new American Tag Team Champions....LOS GUERREROS!!!!!
After the match, Terry seems quite put out with his older brother! Terry yells at Dory and leaves him lying in the ring without offering to help him.
NWA WORLD TITLE MATCH: “NATURE BOY” RIC FLAIR © VS. GENTLEMAN CHRIS ADAMS: This is a classic! For over 40 minutes, Adams goes hold for hold and move for move with the champ! Finally, Flair gets the advantage and goes for the figure four! Using the same counter he used to win the American Title, Adams counters with an inside cradle!
One...Two..THReeeee...NO!
Flair reverses! ONE...TWO...THREE!
And that's why he's the greatest in the world! After the match, Flair actually seems humbled by the experience and offers Adams a handshake! Adams lives up to the “Gentleman” moniker by accepting. Flair raises Adam's hand! Chris loses the match, but earns the Champion's respect!
