WINDY CITY WRESTLING PRESENTS:
BRUISER BEDLAM ‘88
Sunday night, April 30, 1988
Aragon Ballroom, Chicago Illinois
Bell time is 8pm
UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
TERRY GORDY (CHAMPION) VS. DON MURACO
Gordon Solie: It will certainly be an incredible night of action! Right now, let’s take a look at three men who will be in that Battle Royal.
HERE COME THE STEINER BROTHERS AND TERRY TAYLOR!
TERRY TAYLOR AND THE STEINER BROTHERS VS. MOTLEY CRUZ, PHANTASM AND REX KING
Terry Taylor and the Steiners get a big reception as they make their way down to ring. Tomorrow night, it will every man for themselves, but they’ll have to rely on each other to win this six-man tag team match. Phanstam is an excellent technical wrestler and manages to fluster Terry Taylor, before Taylor drills him with a big dropkick. Phantasm tags out to Motely Cruz, who is immediately knocked out cold when Terry Taylor hits the ropes and connects with the Five Arm. Taylor then tags out to Scott Steiner as the Dog-Faced Gremlin hits the ring and props Cruze up on his shoulders. Scott Steiner flies off the top rope and and drives Cruz head-first into the canvas with the flying bulldog. Scotty Steiner now with the cover for the academic three count.
WINNERS: TERRY TAYLOR AND THE STEINER BROTHERS
Gordon Solie: An impressive win for these three young men. I believe that all three would have to be considered favorites to walk away with $5,000 tomorrow night at the Bruiser Bedlam. RIght now, let’s take a look another impressive individual - one Don ‘The Magnificent One’ Muraco.

(Lee Marshall is standing by Flyin’ Brian.)
Lee Marshall: Welcome back to Power Pro Wrestling. The man standing with me now has been so impressive he arrived in Windy City Wrestling. Flyin’ Brian, you really have taken the Chicagoland by storm.
Flyin’ Brian: Thank you very much, Lee. It’s been a long road to lead me here to Windy City Wrestling and I’m ready to face the best and the brightest in order to reach the top of the mountain.
Lee Marshall: You have earned a reputation for being one of the most intense athletes in the sport of professional wrestling today. Of course, your reputation as an All-American as a nose tackle at Miami of Ohio and then later as a shining star for the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL is well documented. However, what fans might not know is that recurring throat polyps sidelined you in the NFL and nearly ended your athletics career.
Flyin’ Brian: That’s exactly right. I know a lot about being down and out, but one thing my later father taught me was to never life get the best of you. I’ve had ten surgeries on my throat, but I stand here before you in the greatest condition of my life. I overcame those surgeries, just like I’ll overcome each and every opponent put in my way here in the Windy City. Air Pillman has touched in Chicago, and that’s bad news for every single opponent I step in the ring with!
Lee Marshall: There you have it! Flyin’ Brian, we’ll see you tomorrow night at the Bruiser Bedlam. Right now, let’s take a look another double-tough competition. This is the cornerstone of the Dangerous Alliance, ‘Dirty’ Dick Slater!
Gordon Solie: Dick Slater is certainly always a contender. Many believe he is the odds-on favorite to walk away with $5,000 in the Bruiser Bedlam Battle Royal. Let’s go now to Mick Karch in the ring.
IT’S HACKSAW BUTCH REED!
HACKSAW BUTCH REED VS. JOE SAVOLDI
Hacksaw Reed hits the ring, flexes and kisses his forearm before motioning for Joe Savoldi to bring it on. Solie does a great job hyping Reed’s bona fides as a former Missouri Heavyweight Champion and North American Heavyweight Champion, and mentions that Joe Savoldi is the son of the great Angelo Savoldi. Reed is immensely powerful - as he displays with a gorilla press where he reps Savoldi five times before slamming him - but he’s also got such agility.
Joe Savoldi comes off the ropes for a clothesline, but Reed ducks it, hints the ropes on the opposite, leaps high into the air and drills Joe with a flying clothesline of his own. Hacksaw Reed then scales the top ropes and perches while Savoldi pulls himself back to his feet. Joe Savoldi turns around, and is meet with an incredible flying shoulder-block from the Hacksaw. Reed puts his foot on Savoldi’s chest, flexes and gets the three count.
WINNER: HACKSAW BUTCH REED
Gordon Solie: Hacksaw Reed is certainly a force to be reckoned with, and is another favourite in tomorrow night’s battle royal. Lee Marshall will have a word with Mr. Reed when we return.

(Lee Marshall is standing by with the man who just scored a dominating victory, the impressive Hacksaw Butch Reed.)
Lee Marshall: Hacksaw Butch Reed, there is no doubt after that last you are one of the impressive impressive athletes in the sport of professional wrestling at this time.
Butch Reed: Not one of, Lee Marshall. You are looking at the most impressive specimen in professional wrestling bar-none. Ain’t nobody that’s stronger than Butch Reed. Ain’t nobody that’s more powerful than Butch Reed. And damn sure ain’t nobody as good lookin’ as Butch Reed!
Lee Marshall: Tomorrow night Hacksaw Reed, you get another opportunity to live up to those words when you step into the Bruiser Bedlam Battle Royal.
Butch Reed: Five thousand dollars! That’s a lot of money, and it’s calling my name. Lots of impressive rasslers will all be in one ring. But you’re lookin’ at the king of the hill, baby. I don’t care if it’s the Steiner Brothers. I don’t care if it’s the World Strongest Man Doug Furnas. I don’t care if it’s Dick SLater or Hercules Hernandez! I don’t care if it’s the big nasty Nord the Barbarian. Ain’t none of them tossing Hacksaw Butch Reed over the top rope! Take it to the bank, baby!
Lee Marshall: Hacksaw Butch Reed is very confident about his opportunity to win $5,000. Speaking of impressive individuals, it’s time to see Lord Humongous in action once again.
CLEAR THE WAY, LORD HUMONGOUS IS ON HIS WAY TO THE RING!
LORD HUMONGOUS VS. BOB ROOP
‘War Machine’ blares in the arena as the massive Lord Humongous slowly walks to the ring, climbs up on the apron, lifts one leg over the top rope and now steps into the ring. The man opposite him, as Gordon Solie, is former Bob Roop. Solie has watched Roop’s career unfold over the last decade, and has seen him win the Florida Heavyweight Title from the likes of his broadcast partner Joe Watts’ father ‘Cowboy’ Bill Watts and Terry Funk. However, Gordon Solie has never seen Bob Roop intimidated and he must admit that Roop looks visibly unnerved as Lord Humongous stands opposite him.
As the bell rings, the camera pans to the aisle way where Woman, Scotty the Body and Ronnie P. Gossett are all out to scout Humongous once again. Roop finally makes his move with some forearms to Lord Humongous’ stomach. They seem to have minimal effect as Humongous grabs Roop’s face and pie-faces him to the canvas. Roop isn’t quite sure how to proceed, but he does duck Lord Humongous’ attempt to throttle him. Roop hits the ropes and goes for a forearm to the face, but the hockey mask ends up doing more damage to Roop.
Bob Roop tries to shake off the pain, but Lord Humongous collars him now and drills him with a vicious headbutt that sends Roop rolling out to the floor. The pan pans in on Roop to see blood flowing down his forehead. Roop tries struggling to his feet on rubber legs, but Lord Humongous reaches down, grabs him by the hair and yanks him back to the canvas. Humongous then scoop slams Roop over the top rope and back in the ring. The blood is really flowing down Roop’s face now as Lord Humongous grabs him in a double-handed choke, lifts him high into the air and then tosses him down to the canvas with a thud. Lord Humongous now covers Bob Roop for the three count.
Gordon Solie and Joe Watts put over just awesome this big man Lord Humongous is to put away a grizzled and decorated ring veteran with such ease. Lord Humongous turns around to see Scotty the Body, Woman and Ronnie P. Gossett on the apron trying to pitch him again. This time Humongous charges towards them and they all scurry. Humongous lumbers by and stomps back to the dressing room, once again leaving all three managers out in the cold!
WINNER: LORD HUMONGOUS
Gordon Solie: Fans, I must admit that I’ve never an individual quite this physically imposing.

WELCOME TO THE DANGER ZONE
(Paul E. Dangerously is standing by with the United States Light Heavyweight Champion ‘The Illustrious’ Jonnie Stewart.)
Paul E. Dangerously: Welcome to the Danger Zone, my name is Paul E. Dangerously. Tonight, I have the great pleasure of introducing you to the single greatest light heavyweight wrestler in the sport today. This man is the United States Light Heavyweight Champion, a title he won from the great Nelson Royal on Christmas Night in Atlanta Georgia. ‘Illustrious’ Jonnie Stewart, it’s a pleasure to have you on the Danger Zone.
Jonnie Stewart: Normally I’d say the pleasure is all yours, but in this case it’s actually a shared pleasure. Only for you, Paul E., would I come to the dirty, disgusting and, quite frankly, smelly city of Chicago. I’m too good for this town!
Paul E. Dangerously: I feel exactly the same way! But you’re here for the same reason I am. You’re a titan among men, the greatest light heavyweight wrestler in the world, and you come to where the competition. And you can’t argue that the competition is fiercer here in Windy City Wrestling than anywhere in the world.
Jonnie Stewart: As much as I hate to give this dead-end town some credit, I’ll reluctantly agree on this point.
Paul E. Dangerously: Now that you have come to Windy City Wrestling, I have to ask who you’ll be stepping in the ring to defend that title against. We have men like Flyin’ Brian, Fire Cat, The Juicer and I’m told Woman will be debuting her own light heavyweight superstar at Bruiser Bedlam. And, I can announce this now, Windy City has signed an agreement to bring Jushin Liger here to Chicago. This man is such a sensation at home that a cartoon and a comic book are in development in Japan at this very minute!
Jonnie Stewart: I’ll face any of them. Bring ‘em on. I’m a fighting champion and I’ll take on any wrestler who wants at a crack at this title - provided they earn that shot. And not a minute before! I’m the champion. I call the shots. Windy City Wrestling is going to start playing by my rules!
Paul E. Dangerously: Jonnie, I wish you the best of luck tomorrow night when you defend your title against the creep The Juice. This has been the Danger Zone, I’m off to get Hercules Hernandez and Dick Slater ready to win $5,000 in the Bruiser Bedlam Battle Royal. Take away, Karch.
FREEBIRD IS BLARING! IT’S TERRY GORDY, SHANE DOUGLAS AND THE ROUGEAUS!
TV MAIN EVENT:
TERRY GORDY, SHANE DOUGLAS AND THE ROUGEAUS VS. MAGNIFICENT MURACO, THE BLACK NINJA KENDO NAGASAKI AND DEATH AND DESTRUCTION
Woman and Ronnie P. Gossett are both gossiping at ringside, perhaps over being rejected by Lord Humongous earlier in the night. Solie hypes that this match will preview three big contests at Bruiser Bedlam tomorrow night. Death and Destruction will defend their WCW Tag Team Titles against the Rougeaus, while WCW Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas puts his gold on the line against the Black Ninja Kendo Nagasaki. Then in the main event, Terry Gordy will clash with Don Muraco for the United States Heavyweight Championship.
It starts as a donnybrook as Gordy, Douglas and the Rougeaus clear the ring of Muraco, the Black Ninja and Death and Destruction. Brawls break out often through the match as the momentum shifts back in forth. One such brawl breaks out when Woman reaches into the ring to choke Douglas. That brings in Gordy, who is attacked by Muraco from behind. Soon, the Rougeaus are in brawling with Death and Destruction and referee James Beard is desperately trying to get the match under control. None of the combatants listen to him so he calls for a double disqualification.
As Death and Destruction battle with the Rougeaus in the aisle way, Shane Douglas exchanges chops with Kendo Nagasaki in the ring. Muraco goes a clothesline, but Gordy back-drops him over the top and out to the floor! As Gordy drops out to the floor himself, Muraco catches him with a low blow. The United States Heavyweight Champion is doubled over, allowing Muraco to scoop him up! No! No! Muraco gets Gordy into position and plants Gordy with the reverse piledriver on the floor! There’s panic as official charges out and tend to Gordy, who isn’t moving. Don Muraco cracks a big smile and raises his arms triumphantly in the air. Muraco just stands by chuckling as officials tend to the unconscious Terry Gordy on the floor.
WINNERS: DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION
Gordon Solie: I must admit that I am stunned. I can’t ever remembered seeing Terry Gordy ever laid so low, and I’ve watched this man from the beginning of his career! One can only ponder what this means for his championship match against Mr. Muraco tomorrow night at the Bruiser Bedlam. I urge you to buy the few remaining tickets to find out! For now, this is Gordon Solie saying, so long from the Prairie State.
