Windy City Wrestling presents:
Power Pro Wrestling
Airing 4/20/1988 on Prime Sports Midwest
Taped: 4/22/1988 from the Alumni Gym at Loyala University Chicago
Ring Announcer: Mick Karch
Broadcast Team: Gordon Solie, Joel Watts and Paul E. Dangerously
Highlights of the exciting Windy City Wrestling roster play over Iron Maiden’s ‘Run To The Hills’:
(The camera zooms into the Windy City Wrestling studio at the Alumni Gym as Gordon Solie, Joel Watts and Paul E. Dangerously stands by)
Gordon Solie welcomes everyone to Power Pro Wrestling and introduces his colleagues Joel Watts and Paul E. Dangerously. Gordon mentions that we have a packed line-up tonight, with the Steiner Brothers, the Can-Am Express, Flyin’ Brian, Dick Slater and United States Champion Terry Gordy all in action. Plus, as promised, we’ll have footage from Gordy’s title win back on Halloween night against the Noble Sheik. Right now, let’s go down to the ring.
HERE COMES DICK SLATER WITH DARK JOURNEY!
DICK SLATER W/ DARK JOURNEY VS. VIC STEAMBOAT
Paul E. Dangerously leaves the broadcast booth to join Dark Journey in Slater’s corner. Mr. Excitement is very familiar with the Steamboat family, having often battled Vic’s older brother Ricky Steamboat. Steamboat has Slater on the run early on with some chops and a crossbody for a near fall. But Slater blindsides Steamboat with a clothesline to the side of the head and stomps the hell out of him. Slater connects with three right hands in quick succession, before pulling Steamboat directly into a short-arm clothesline. Paul E. Dangerously and Dark Journey are jubilant as Dick Slater finishes Steamboat with a piledriver for the three count. Dangerously and Dark Journey raise Slater’s arms after the bell.
WINNER: DICK SLATER
THE DANGER ZONE WITH PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY
(The camera closes in as Paul E. Dangerously rushes over to his set for the weekly segment)
Paul E. Dangerously: From one powerful group to another, my guests this week on the Danger Zone are Scotty the Body and his tag team Demolition Next!
Scotty the Body: Paul, it’s always a pleasure! Although, if I’m being honest, I think Crush and Rex would much rather be smashing heads right about now.
Paul E. Dangerously: I’m sure they’ll have the chance to do just that very soon! Now Scotty, I’m hear to ask the hard questions and I wouldn’t be the premiere broadcast journalist in this sport if I ducked away from the lingering controversy over your head.
Scotty the Body: I get it, Paul E. Fire away!
Paul E. Dangerously: With all this talk about The Man paying you to guide Demolition Next and the talk of teams around the wrestling world ripping these two men off, I think the people have a right to know: Where exactly do you shop because clearly these humanoids need a fashion upgrade?
Scotty the Body: A great question! You don’t look this good shopping off the rack. I have all of my clothes tailored from I. Am Lion’s shop in Miami Beach. Although, you have to make reservation, he doesn’t just take any dope off the street!
Paul E. Dangerously: I hope you people at home were writing that down! Now, I do also have to ask, what exactly happened with Lord Humongous last week?
Scotty the Body: All due respect to my colleagues Ronnie P. Gossett and Woman, they were just muddying the waters. Don’t you worry, Paul, Lord Humongous will sign on the dotted line with Scotty the Body!
Paul E. Dangerously: Scotty, it’s been a pleasure! This has been the Danger Zone - you’re welcome!

RETURNING NEXT WEEK - THIS IS LORD HUMONGOUS!
(Lee Marshall is standing by with Terry Taylor)
Lee Marshall: Joining me at this time is one of the most exciting wrestlers in the sport of professional wrestling today. Terry Taylor, welcome to Windy City Wrestling!
Terry Taylor: Thank you very much, Mr. Marshall. The Windy City has always been a hotbed for the best professional wrestlers, and that’s exactly where I need to be.
Lee Marshall: You will be one of 20 men stepping into the ring at the Bruiser Bedlam for a Battle Royale to win $5,000. Hercules, Dick Slater, Ron Simmons and Hacksaw Reed are just a few of the others in the match - how do you prepare for a match like this?
Terry Taylor: Training, training and more training. You can study tapes all you want, but that might not help you when four or five guys gang up on you. It’s about having stamina and always being aware of where you are in the ring. I’ve won my fair share of Battle Royals, I look forward to doing it again at the Bruiser Bedlam.
Lee Marshall: Best of luck Terry Taylor! Fans, we have an exciting match up next! Let’s go back to ring announcer Mick Karch!
THIS IS FLYIN BRIAN… AND HE’S JOINED BY THE CAN-AM EXPRESS!
FLYIN’ BRIAN AND THE CAN-AM EXPRESS VS. SHUNJI TAKANO, SHINYA HASHIMOTO AND KENSUKE SASAKE
Fast-paced and hard-hitting is how you could describe this six-man tag team match. Paul E. Dangerously puts over the Japanese contingent as three of their country’s new generation of wrestlers. The finish sees Doug Furnas hook Takano in a waist lock, Lafon connect with a super-kick and Furnas propelling Takano into the canvas with a belly-to-back release suplex. Furnas makes the tag to Flyin’ Brian, who scales the top rope and connects with a pitch perfect splash for the three count! Pillman and the Can-Ams celebrate their win, but also shake hands with their three opponents.
WINNERS: FLYIN’ BRIAN AND THE CAN-AM EXPRESS
(Lee Marshall is standing with Ronnie P. Gossett)
Lee Marshall: Joining me…
Ronnie P. Gossett: Do you really think I need any introduction. I don’t think so! The people saw last week when the Black Ninja Kendo Nagasaki completely destroyed that yutz Shane Douglas. In fact, it was so brutal that I think we can just call Mr. Nagasaki the WCW Heavyweight Champion right now. HAR HAR HAR!
Lee Marshall: I would suggest you not look too far ahead, Mr. Gossett. Now, there’s also the issue of Lord Humongous…
Ronnie P. Gossett: Don’t you worry none about the big man. Like I said last week, I’ve got more than enough brains for everyone in my stable. I’ll sign Humongous next week on Power Pro Wrestling, and then I can do all his thinkin’ for him! Now, buzz off Marshall!
Lee Marshall: We’ll be right back.

MONSTER BASH ‘87
DETROIT, MICHIGAN
10/31/1987
- - JOINED IN PROGRESS - -
… The Sheik has that pencil and he’s digging directly into Terry ‘Bamm Bamm’ Gordy’s forehead! Sheik now hooks the throat and he’s locked in the Camel Clutch. Gordy struggles, but he’s refusing to submit here. Gordy somehow musters the threat to get to his knees with Sheik still gripping his throat. Gordy with a series of back elbows, and finally the Sheik breaks. Terry Gordy has broken the legendary Camel Clutch!
Terry Gordy drills Sheik a few more times, scoops him and takes off running - Bamm Bamm Slam! Gordy with the cover for the one… two… no! Sheik kicked out at the last possible second! Gordy climbs up to the second rope and dives off… with the Asiatic Spike! Gordy with the cover now for the one… two… three! Gordy has done it. We have a brand new United States Heavyweight Champion! Terry Gordy has ended the decade-long undefeated streak of the Noble Sheik here in Cobo Hall!
END VTR
Gordon Solie: That was the moment when Terry Gordy won the United States title, a clearly historic moment in the great career of Mr. Gordy. Mr. Watts and I have a special guest joining us for this next match. It’s Mr. Gordy’s opponent for the Bruiser Bedlam, the Magnificent Don Muraco.
Don Muraco: It’s always a pleasure to be here with a man of your intelligence, Mr. Solie. However, you forgot to mention one thing - Gordy stole that Asiatic Spike from moi! I invented that hold, I perfected it. I might just use it at the Bruiser Bedlam!
Gordon Solie: That remains to be seen. Let’s move to the ring where United States Heavyweight Champion Terry Gordy is ready for action.
UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION TERRY GORDY VS. MOTLEY CRUZ
The US Heavyweight Champion absolutely guzzles his opponent here, and Cruz is no slouch. Gordy drills Motley with a big boot and then lands a big knee drop. It’s all over, but Gordy pulls Cruz up and drops him with the Bamm Bamm Slam! Terry Gordy climbs up to the second rope and perches while a woozy Motley Cruze rises to his feet. Gordy leaps off with the Asiatic Spike and it’s a three count. Terry Gordy holds up the belt after the match, as Don Muraco stands up at ringside and motions that he’s going to take it.
WINNER: UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION TERRY GORDY
(Lee Marshall is standing by with the Steiner Brothers.)
Lee Marshall: We’ve seen video footage of these two me joining me now in recent weeks. Both national championship-winning amateur wrestlers and now impressive pros. Scott and Rick, the Steiner Brothers! Welcome to Windy City Wrestling!
Rick Steiner: Hey, how ya doin’? My name’s Rick, this is my brother. His name’s Scott. We’re brothers.
Lee Marshall: Yeeeeeeah, that’s what I just said. Nice to have you here in WCW!
Rick Steiner: Hey, why do they call this the Windy City? It ain’t that windy. But it’s beautiful! I love the city. I love the people. Even my brother likes the city. And he don’t link much of anything.
Scott Steiner: I do like beatin’ people up. And my and my brother do it better than just about anybody. Now, I’ve seen Doug Furnas and Phil Lafon, they’re real impressive. Lots of people compare us to them. Maybe we should get in the ring and see who comes out on top? We’re here to prove we’re the best in wrestling, Furnas and Lafon probably are too. What do you say, boys?
Lee Marshall: That’s quite a challenge. We’ll see these two men in action after this break, and hopefully we’ll have a response from the Can-Am Express next week. We’ll be right back.

COMING TO WINDY CITY WRESTLING… HACKSAW BUTCH REED!
(Lee Marshall is standing by with WCW Heavyweight Champion Shane Douglas)
Lee Marshall: Shane Douglas, we heard Ronnie P. Gossett earlier. He claims that his Black Ninja should already be recognised as WCW Heavyweight Champion.
Shane Douglas: The Black Ninja is dangerous. He’s vicious. And he’ll do absolutely anything to hurt his opponent. But what he isn’t is the WCW Heavyweight Champion. The belt is around my waist. I won it in the ring, and nobody has beat me in the ring one… two… three. He’s not going to beat me.
Lee Marshall: All due respect Shane, defeating the Black Ninja Kendo Nagasaki will be quite a tall task. Not only will he have Gossett in his corner, but you never know where Nord the Barbarian will be lurking.
Shane Douglas: If you’re trying to suggest I need eyes in the back of my head, Lee, I understand and I agree. But I’m not going into this match thinking I’m going to lose. If I’m going down, I’m going down with a fight. Bring it on, Gossett!
Lee Marshall: The WCW Heavyweight Champion is ready for war. Let’s go back down to the ring.
HERE COME THE STEINER BROTHERS!
THE STEINER BROTHERS VS. THE TOP GUNS
Two exciting young teams give us yet more innovative action. Ricky Rice and Derrick Dukes have the speed advantage, and Dukes in particular scores with the clothesline off the second rope. Dukes shoots the Dog-Faced Gremlin off the ropes, but Rick nearly knocks him out of his boots with the Steinerline. Scott makes the tag, and connects with a belly-to-belly suplex. Now Scott Steiner shoots Dukes off the ropes, and drills him with a Frankensteiner. Scotty with the cover for the one… two… three! What an impressive victory for the Steiner Brothers.
WINNERS: THE STEINER BROTHERS
Gordon Solie: These two young men are no doubt one of the most exciting in the sport of professional wrestling at this period in time. We’ll see them both in the Battle Royal at the Bruiser Bedlam. Speaking of the Bruiser Bedlam, let’s take another look at the card:
