Smoky Mountain Wrestling
Wednesday 04-19-88
Civic Auditorium, Kingsport TN
In the opening match, George South pinned Carl Styles with a backslide in 9:40
Ole Anderson def. Todd Champion by submission with a step over arm bar in 10:03. Afterwards, he got on the microphone and said that he is going to be watching real close this Sunday night in Hazzard to see who comes out on top as the Smoky Mountain Champion.
Next up, The Bullet made his way to the ring to the sound of “Bad to the Bone” as he shook peoples hands. He got in the ring and was staring at the aisle way waiting on his mystery opponent. Ron Wright appeared, came to ringside and got on the microphone and said that tonight is the Bullet’s last night in wrestling because he is about to be put out for good. Bullet motioned for him to come on into the ring. Wright then turned towards the aisle and said “Ladies and Rednecks, I present to you…….” No one came out of the back and Bullet looked frustrated, but then from behind him coming in through the crowd and into the ring was the bald headed, one man wrecking crew known as the MONGOLIAN STOMPER! The Stomper hit Bullet from behind and went to work stomping away at him as the bell rang to signal the start of the match. Stomper beat on Bullet from corner to corner before throwing him out of the ring. He continued the attack on the floor, and at one point started choking Bullet with the microphone cable. It didn’t take the referee long to count both men out as Stomper continued the assault. Finally some local Police officers intervened and pulled Stomper off and out the door. The Bullet had to be helped from the ringside area. Time of all this was about 8:00.
The Rock & Roll Express beat Joel and David Deaton in 16:30 with a double drop kick on David.
Vladimir Pietrov w/ Ivan Koloff destroyed Ranger Ross in 5:00 and pinned him after a Russian Hammer. The tide turned against Ross immediately as Ivan was bad mouthing him before the match, so Ross just gave his a Combat Kick square on the jaw and knocked him from the ring. Pietrov charged and waylayed the distracted Ross at that point, and never lost the advantage. After the decision, Ivan came in and the attack continued, now as a 2 on 1 attack. When they were done, Ivan brought his Russian flag into the ring and layed it across Ross’ prone body to huge jeers from the crowd.
Texas Death Match – Falls Count Anywhere, Anything Goes
“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff & Phil Hickerson vs. “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan & “Exotic” Adrian Street
All four men took to brawling right away, and the match went for almost 6 minutes before a fall was recorded. Duggan took out Hickerson with a running tackle and pinned him. Hickerson made his feet in time, so the match continued.
Orndorff captured the second fall when he gave Street a running knee into the back in the corner and pinned him at 10:22
After more brawling by all four men, Orndorff pinned Duggan after hitting him with a chair at 13:01.
Street pinned Hickerson at 16:34 after a chair shot.
Duggan pinned Orndorff at 19:04 after a running clothesline.
Hickerson pinned Street after a body slam on the floor at 22:05.
Orndorff pinned Street at 26:19 with a double axe handle from the top rope.
Duggan pinned Hickerson at 29:55 with another football tackle.
With all four men bleeding, and having torn up the ring side area, the end came when Orndorff attempted a pile driver on Street. Since this is an anything goes match, it was legal. Street managed to flip Orndorff over the top rope instead. Meanwhile, Duggan hoisted up Hickerson and dropped HIM with a piledriver instead and got the pinfall at 33:33. Hickerson was unable to beat the count, and Orndorff was still on the floor and unable to help him. Duggan and Street won after 9 falls.
