Les Thatcher and Johnny Weaver welcomed everyone into the show and said that it was another wild night of action this past Wednesday at the Civic Auditorium in Kingsport, and they have highlights of that here today! Weaver jumped in and said that SMW will be back in Kingsport this Wednesday night, and then at East High School in Morristown on Thursday night, on Friday night at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum Ballroom, and Sunday afternoon at Northwood High School in Saltville VA! Thatcher said that they have some exciting news for all the fans in Kentucky coming up in a little bit, but first he wanted to talk about The Jive Tones and the Rock and Roll Express.
Thatcher ran down what happened before the show on Wednesday, with the Jive Tones and Ron Wright attacking Robert Gibson while the R&R were signing autographs and injuring his leg. Later in the night, Ricky Morton challenged either Jive Tone to a one-on-one match, and ended up facing Shaska Whatley. Let’s take a look……
(In the last bout of the night Ricky Morton defeated Shaska Whatley by DQ at 6:30 when Tiger Conway Jr. and manager Ron Wright interfered in the match. All three men were beating on Morton until The Bullet ran to the ring to make the assist. He and Morton successfully ran the Jive Tones from the ring to close the show.) Last 5:00 were shown.
Back to Thatcher and Weaver, and Thatcher said that the rivalry between these two teams is reaching a boiling point, and something is going to have to give soon. Weaver agreed, and said that both teams have now signed multiple contracts to face each other, and he expects this feud to get even hotter over the next couple of weeks. Thatcher then said that those two teams will face each other this Wednesday night at the Civic Coliseum in Kingsport.

Back from the break, Thatcher said that Smoky Mountain champion Paul Orndorff got more than he bargained for with his non-title open challenge last Wednesday…he then threw to clips….
(The Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Champion, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff presented his “open challenge” to any wrestler in the arena for a non-title bout. His challenge was answered by George South. The champion thought it was humorous that South accepted the challenge. South was game for the first couple of minutes, but then succumbed to a running high knee by Orndorff and was pinned after just 4:00.
The champion wasn’t done though, and said that wasn’t enough of a challenge, so he asked any other wrestler to come out. This time, the challenge was answered by Nelson Royal. Royal faired better than South, but still Orndorff got the victory in 4:50.
Again Orndorff made the challenge, and Johnny Rich came out. Orndorff put him away after 6:00.
Orndorff issued the challenge again, and was absolutely shocked…and the crowd excited…when “Exotic” Adrian Street surprised everyone in the Smoky Mountain area and answered the challenge! He gave Orndorff all he wanted in a solid back and forth affair. “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan came to ringside and was yelling at Orndorff which distracted him. Street took advantage and rolled up Orndorff from behind and scored the pin after 7:03! Orndorff was livid after the decision.) Highlights of all this was condensed down to about 8:00 of total action.
Thatcher threw to commercial, promising we would see highlights of Duggan vs. Hickerson when we returned.

Out of the break, and Thatcher mentioned that Smoky Mountain Wrestling is coming to Kentucky for a special tour call the Bluegrass Brawl tour, and the fans there should get their tickets now, as it is going to be a barn burner. He then ran down the details:

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan / “Exotic” Adrian vs. Paul Orndorff / Phil Hickerson
Sunday April 16 – Hazard KY – Hazard Memorial Gym – 6pm bell time
Smoky Mountain Title: Paul Orndorff vs. Jim Duggan
Monday April 17 – Barbourville KY – Knox Central High School – 7:30pm bell time
Smoky Mountain Tag Titles: Rock & Roll Express vs. Jive Tones
Tuesday April 18 – Harlan KY – Caywood High School – 7:30pm bell time
King of the Hill Gauntlet Match – 12 wrestlers competing for $5000!
Wednesday April 19 – Kingsport TN – Civic Auditorium – 8:00pm bell time
After the graphic went away, Ron Fuller was on the scene and talked to Thatcher about the tour. He highlighted the show in Barbourville on the 17th, and said that whoever wins the match between The Rock and Roll Express vs. The Jive Tones will be the first Smoky Mountain Tag Team Champions! He then displayed the title belts as Thatcher and Weaver put over how great they looked. He then talked about the King of the Hill gauntlet match on the 18th in Harlan and explained it. 12 wrestlers….2 men start and wrestle till there is a winner by pinfall, submission, countout, or DQ. The loser goes home and the winner stays to face the next man in another match. It goes on like this until there is only 1 man left, and that man wins $5000!
Fuller left, and Thatcher talked about the match between Duggan and Hickerson from Wednesday night, and said it had a wild ending. He introduced the clips…
(In the main event, Phil Hickerson pinned “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan in a “no holds barred” match when Smoky Mountain Champion Paul Orndorff came to the ring, and hit Duggan across the back with his own 2x4 board. Orndorff and Hickerson wanted to take advantage of the two on one situation, but Adrian Street returned to help Duggan.) 5 minutes were shown of the end.
Thatcher and Weaver said that the bad blood between Duggan and Orndorff has now spilled over on Street and Hickerson as well, and the four of them are slated to battle this coming Wednesday night in Kingsport in a tag team match, and have another match signed for April 15 in Pikeville as part of the Bluegrass Brawl tour as well! They think the four men are primed to explode when they are all in the ring together.
Thatcher then said that they have some pre-recorded words from manager Ron Wright….
Wright said that last Wednesday, they showed the Rock and Roll Express that they mean business, and could have finished the job if The Bullet hadn’t stuck his nose in their business. He said that he knows a man who can take care of The Bullet, and if The Bullet has any guts, he’ll agree to face this man on the 19th in Kingsport. He’s not going to tell Bullet who this man is because he wants to see just how brave and dumb the Bullet is! As for the Rock and Roll Express, this Wednesday night, they are going to get another taste of the Jive Tones, and this time, they are going to take out another part of either Gibson or Morton, and then on the 17th in Barbourville, his Jive Tones are going to beat the Rock and Roll punks one more time and take home the Smoky Mountain Tag Team titles!
Out of that, Thatcher and Weaver wrapped it up reminding fans to be in Kingsport this Wednesday night and Morristown this Thursday! Good night fans!
