IN YOUR HOUSE: SEASONS BEATINGS
12/16/96 Vince McMahon, Jim Ross, & Bobby Heenan are on commentary!!!
We kick things off with Jake “The Snake” Roberts battling the two time former WWF Champion Yokozuna, with Ted Dibiase and Hunter Hearst Helmsley in his corner. Ross goes over the history between the Million Dollar Corporation and Jake Roberts, as well as the problems that HHH and Yokozuna have been having as of late. Vince says Dibiase has made it very clear, Yokozuna must eliminate Jake Roberts here tonight or else. Yoko does his best to do just that, throwing Roberts around the ring and punishing him with everything he’s got, Roberts refuses to give up though and keeps fighting to his feet. Yoko finally cuts off a comeback attempt by Roberts with a massive Belly to Belly Suplex, he goes for the cover and would have gotten the three count, but Dibiase demanded that he pull Roberts up. Dibiase and HHH both wanted Yoko to hit Roberts with the Banzai Drop, Yoko argued with them saying he’s just going to pin him and get it over with, but Dibiase insisted, Yoko dragged Roberts over to the corner and went for the Drop, but all the time it took discussing what to do gave Roberts the chance to roll out of the way!!!! Yoko crashed hard on the mat and when he staggered to his feet, Roberts caught him with the DDT!!! Roberts makes the cover and gets the three count!!! Somehow Roberts defied the odds and beat the former 2 time WWF Champion!!!
Roberts escaped the ring as Dibiase and HHH jump into it, they yell and scream at Yokozuna, they can’t believe he lost the match. Dibiase tells Yokozuna that he’s fired!!! THEN DIBIASE SLAPS YOKO!!!!! Yoko grabs Dibiase by his suit!!!! Hunter clubs Yokozuna from behind, but that only makes Yoko mad!!! Yoko decks Hunter and then crushes him with a belly to belly suplex!!! Yoko stalks Dibiase in the corner, he is about to crush him when Bam Bam Bigelow slides into the ring and attacks Yoko!!! Yoko and Bigelow brawl with Bigelow getting the upper hand!! HHH is back to his feet and HHH, Dibiase and Bigelow put the boots to Yokozuna, leaving the former Champion in a heap in the middle of the ring!
Michael Hayes is backstage with The British Bulldog as he prepares for his match with Bret Hart for the WWF Title later tonight. Bulldog says that he is going to prove to Bret what everyone else already knows, he is the rightful WWF Champion and the best wrestler in the world today. Bulldog says he is glad the match is in the cage, he doesn’t need the Hart Foundation to beat Bret, and there will be no excuse for Bret when he loses the title here tonight, Bulldog says tonight he proves that he is the better man.
The WWF Tag Team Titles are on the line in our second match up as The Road Warriors challenge The Smoking Gunns with Sunny in a hope to win the Tag Titles for a second time. The Road Warriors control the early going, but constant interference from Sunny turns the tide in the Smoking Gunns favor. Whenever the Roadies start to make a comeback, Sunny finds some way to distract the referee allowing the Gunns to cheat, that is all put to an end though when Sunny’s ex boyfriend Chris Candido comes out of the back and grabs Sunny!!! He throws her over his shoulder and carries he to the back kicking and screaming, The Gunns are distract and Billy tries to chase after them, giving the Road Warriors an opening!!! They make the comeback and plant Bart with the Doomsday Device, Hawk makes the cover ,Billy has to run back down the aisle and adandon his pursuit of Sunny to try and break up the count. Billy slides into the ring a split second too late as Tim White counts three and the Road Warriors regain the WWF Tag Team Titles!!!!
A video played hyping the feud between Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin, it looks back to how similar they once were, brash, young, good looking cocky superstars that planned to take the WWF over, it even brought them together for a short time last year as partners in crime, that is until HBK lost a Loser Leaves WWF match and had to leave. 6 month later Shawn was back in the WWF, a changed man, no longer out for only himself now HBK wanted to do things the right way, and wanted the fans who had driven the WWF to bring him back at his side, Austin too was a changed man, a war with Hulk Hogan had made Austin into a Rattlesnake, gone was the Stunning One, and he was replaced by Stone Cold. Austin tore a path through the WWF and didn’t care who or what got in his way, which brought Austin and HBK into each other’s paths when in October at the Texas Shootout, Austin attacked HBK’s long time friend and mentor Jose Lothario in the ring. Since then Austin and HBK have been at each other’s throats, they have traded pinfalls, they have beaten each other up in parking lots and in the crowds, and tonight they look to settle it all one way or another!!
Shawn Michaels was the first man to officially head to the ring, but Austin jumped him in the aisle along the way!!! The two men then brawled into the crowd!!! They fought all around the crowd until they finally came back over the guardrail by the commentators!! Austin grabbed a chair out from under Jim Ross and tried to hit HBK with it, missing and hitting the time keeper with it instead!!! Finally the two fought into the ring, as they brawled Ross announced that he was just told that the winner of this match will get a shot at the WWF Title at the Royal Rumble!!!!! The brawl continued with several nearfalls between the two men, the closest being off a Superplex by Austin onto Michaels. Austin went for the Stunner, but Austin caught his leg and spun him around for a Teardrop Suplex that came close to winning the match for Michaels, Shawn then warmed up the band and caught Austin with Sweet Chin Music!!! HBK made the cover and after 30 minutes of an intense brawl, Michaels pinned Austin for the three count and the shot at the WWF Title!!!! ,
Clips of Ahmed Johnson working out, lifting heavier and heavier weight, close up on Ahmed’s eyes.
AHMED JOHNSON RETURNS TO THE WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION TOMORROW NIGHT ON RAW!!!!
Vince McMahon is standing in the middle of the ring and invites out Intercontinental Champion The Kid. Vince asks The Kid about the status of his knee after the attack by Brian Pillman and Owen Hart at Survivor Series. Kid says that he has severe damage to his ACL and MCL and that it is going to require surgery, The Kid says that he doesn’t want to be stripped of the IC Title and is going to just tough it out. This brings out WWF CEO Shane McMahon, Shane says there is no way that he can allow that, he says that the WWF cannot be responsible for The Kid destroying his career and promises that The Kid will get a rematch for the title as soon as he is medically cleared to wrestle again. Shane asks that the Kid hand the title over, The Kid starts to but when Shane goes to take it, The Kid refuses to let it go at first, finally he does and very angrily leaves the ring. Shane announces that starting tomorrow night on Raw a tournament will be held to crown the new Champion with the finals being held at the Royal Rumble!
A video package then plays of the wars the Undertaker and the Giant have had, Ross says never in the history of the WWF has one man dominated the Undertaker the way the Giant has, while neither man has gotten a true victory over the other one, that should all change tonight in the Falls Count Anywhere Match.
Jimmy Hart led the Giant down to the ring first, next out, Paul Bearer brought the Undertaker to the battle, with all the pomp, circumstance and theatrics one has come to expect from the Undertaker’s entrance. Neither man took their eyes off the other. When the bell rang, the war began. The match stayed in the ring for a while, with both men trading control, it didn’t spill out until Undertaker hit the Giant with a big boot knocking him out of the ring and then following him out with a suicide dive over the top rope!! Taker tried to score a pinfall there but was unable to secure the three count. The two men continued to brawl around the ring, The Undertaker ended up sending the Giant into the steel ring steps, then used the steps to bash him in the head, but that only netted the Undertaker a two count. Taker started to clear off the Spanish announce table, with thoughts of putting the Giant through it, but the Giant got ahold of Jimmy Hart’s megaphone and blasted Taker with it from behind!!! The Giant then chokeslammed Undertaker through the Spanish announce table, but somehow the Undertaker kicked out before three. Giant then dragged the Undertaker to the stage at the top of the aisle way. He attempted to chokeslam the Undertaker off the Stage, but Paul Bearer hit the Giant from behind with the Urn!!! The Giant let go of the Undertaker and decked Paul Bearer!!!! Taker tried to then fight the Giant off, but the Giant grabbed the urn and bashed the Undertaker with it, knocking him senseless!!! Giant then CHOKESLAMMED THE UNDERTAKER OFF THE STAGE TO THE TABLES BELOW!!!! The Giant climbed down off the stage and pinned the Undertaker for the three count!!!! Ross can’t believe it, the Giant has defeated the Undertaker, Ross yells “As God is my witness, he is broken in half!!!”
Michael Hayes is backstage with the WWF Champion Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Hayes says Bret is moments away from putting the title on the line against the British Bulldog. Bret is ready to go, and looks forward to putting an end to all of this once and for all. The Wolfpac then walks up on Bret, they wish him luck and Diesel promises that they’ll have their eyes on tonight’s match.
The cage is then lowered onto the ring, the door is held open until the two wrestlers get inside, and then it will be chained shut until one man is declared the victor.
The Challenger is the first man to the ring, and much to everyone’s surprise he comes to the ring alone. Heenan reports that the tights The Bulldog are wearing are the same ones he wore the night he beat Bret Hart at Wembly Stadium 3 years ago!!!
The Champion is out next, and Bret looks serious, he hands his glasses to a kid at ringside before climbing into the ring, it was just a little less than a year ago that Bret returned to the WWF and since doing so he has taken the WWF on his back and carried it, tonight he faces his toughest challenge to date for his title.
With both men in the ring the door is closed and the bell sounds.
Bret and Bulldog take things slow to start, trading holds and testing each other, while they are no stranger to one another, tonight’s match is far too important to rush into blindly. We get a couple of near falls early, but they all barely get a two count. Ross comments on how both men are so evenly matched. The first punch is finally thrown 10 minutes into the match when Davey Boy blasts Bret, that turns the match from a catch as catch can technical marvel into an all out brawl, it isn’t very long after that before Bret is throwing Davey into the cage for the first time. Davey is soon a bloody mess, but it doesn’t take long for him to turn the tide on Bret and launch him into the Steel Cage. Davey uses the cage as a grater and scrapes Bret’s head across the metal fencing, unlike the steel blue bar cages the WWF has used in the past, this cage is the standard metal fencing one that will easily rip flesh asunder.
20 Minutes in and both men are wearing the crimson mask, they fight through the blood to get at each other. Davey comes close to putting the Hitman away with a Running Powerslam but Bret finds some way to kick out, Davey then surprises everyone when he locks in his own version of the Sharpshooter!!!!
Ross mentions that this is a cage match, so there is no DQ and even if Bret reaches the ropes it won’t matter because the referee will not be forced to order a break. Davey cranks back on the Sharpshooter, but Bret refuses to give up. Davey finally releases the hold, he wipes the blood that has poured down into his eyes away and kicks the ropes in frustration. Davey tosses Bret into the opposite corner, and once again wipes away the blood from his eyes before charging Bret, however Bret moves at the last second and Bulldog crashes into the corner, Bret brings Bulldog out of the corner with a running bulldog, followed by a pointed elbow drop from the second rope!!! Bret attempts to lock in the Sharpshooter, but Davey reaches up and rips at Bret’s cut to break it!!! Davey then scoops Bret up and attempts the Running Powerslam again, but Bret wiggles out and grabs a roll up on Davey for a two count!!! The two men then get to their feet and start slugging it out!!!! Davey goes to Bret’s eyes, Bret retaliates and goes to Davey’s eyes!!! Side Russian Legsweep from Bret!!! Bret then locks in the Sharpshooter!!!! Blood is pouring from both men’s heads Davey is trying to power out but can’t!!!! Bret is cranking back on the hold for all he is worth, Davey is fading, he tries to power out on last time and simply cannot do it, finally Davey submits!!!! Bret Hart has done it!!!! Bret has retained the WWF Title here at In Your House; Seasons Beatings!!!!!
Bret releases the hold and collapses to the mat, both the Wolfpac and The Hart Foundation have made their way down to ringside, but are not coming to blows, The Hart Foundation helps pull Bulldog out of the ring and are helping him to the back as The Wolfpac climbs into the ring to help Bret up to celebrate. Diesel hands Bret the WWF Title, they shake his hand and hug him. Diesel raises Bret’s hand in victory and shakes it........................
THEN HE CLOTHESLINES BRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!RAMON AND THE KID ARE CHEERING DIESEL ON AS HE GRABS BRET AND JACKKNIFE POWERBOMBS THE WORLD CHAMPION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING!!!!! BRET IS LYING ON THE MAT, DIESEL HOLDS THE WWF TITLE IN THE AIR IN ONE HAND AND THE WOLFPAC SIGN UP WITH THE OTHER!!! HE IS JOINED BY THE KID AND RAMON WHO THROW UP THE WOLFPAC SIGN!!!!!
THE PPV GOES OFF THE AIR WITH THE WOLFPAC POSING IN THE RING AND ROSS ASKING WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?
