NWA-Chattanooga presents
Championship TV Wrestling
Saturday, February 4, 1988
from the WDEF Channel-12 Studio A
Chattanooga, Tennessee
Announcer: Joe Wheeler
Referee: Walter Buckner
Joe Wheeler
Host Joe Wheeler welcomes everyone to Championship TV Wrestling this Saturday morning. Two matches today with "The Wizard" Joe Cagle in our main event taking on the Shadow.
There is a commotion from the studio audience as the camera swings around to find several men in suits making their way out to join Joe Wheeler. A regular "Who's Who" of professional wrestling managers together - in one place at one time. Tom Renesto Sr., Tux Newman, JD Costello, Bert Prentice, Frenchy Martin and the sweat suit wearing Tony Falk with towel draped around his neck.
Joe Wheeler: Welcome gentlemen. This is highly unusual, to what to we owe the pleasure?
Tom Renesto Sr.: If I may speak for my esteemed colleagues here, Mr. Wheeler ... we are very pleased to have certain information at our disposal about a certain blue chip wrestling prospect making his way to Chattanooga and each of us are here to assess the level of talent and offer our services to make this young man the very best that he can be.
JD Costello: Yeah, yeah. What Renesto says but ya better know this ... in the end, JD Costello ALWAYS gets his man!
Frenchy Martin: No no, mon ami! Frenchy Martin ...
Bert Prentice: I don't think so ...
Tom Renesto Sr.: GENTLEMEN, PLEASE! Let us focus on the task at hand as agreed upon. Fighting amongst ourselves is not a productive measure for anyone involved.
Joe Wheeler: Tony Falk, your part in this?
Tony Falk: Like Mr. Renesto says a real blue chipper is on his way and under the guidance of "Coach" Tony Falk, this kid will reach his full potential.
Tom Renesto Sr.: As Mr. Falk says, a blue chip prospect WITH true wrestling pedigree under the direct guidance of a top wrestler such as himself can only be better.
Joe Wheeler: And each of you are vying for this young man's attention?
A collective agreement from each leads to a quick round fo squabbling until once again, Tom Renesto Sr. regains control of the situation.
Joe Wheeler: Any hints as to the identity of this person?
Tom Renesto Sr.: At this time, we are each unable to name anyone OTHER than the fact that he is a member of Tennessee Wrestling Royalty.
Joe Wheeler: Thank you all for your time but right now, it is time for a break, then wrestling action! We'll be right back."
----- COMMERCIAL BREAK -----
Boni Blackstone
We return to find Boni Blackstone backstage with a man wearing a tall pointed hat and purple robes.
'The Wizard" Joe Cagle
Boni Blackstone: I am here with Joe Cagle ...
Joe Cagle: *cackle* I AM THE WIZARD! *cackle*
Boni Blackstone: Okay. I just waned to get your thoughts on this so-called incoming blue chipper and the number of people interested in managing his career?
Joe Cagle: Blue chipper? Maybe I'll turn him into a toad?
Boni Blackstone: Ah ... Joe, back to you!
Joe Wheeler: Thank you, Boni. A strange Joe Cagle will be in our main event later today but right now ...
Wheeler stops as a young man in a suit, carrying a brief case comes running out. Putting the case down, he straightens up his tie, tucks in his shirt before fishing around in his pocket and handing his card to Wheeler.
Man: Did I miss the announcement?
Joe Wheeler: Kenneth Bolin Services? And you must be Ken Bolin? The blue chipper annoucement? If that's what you're talking about, I am afraid you did.
Kenneth Bolin: Kenneth Bolin, Esquire and Bolin Servies ... uhm, at your service.
Joe Wheeler: I'm afraid you're going to have to wait until next week for more information on our incoming blue chipper but right now, we revist last week's opening match as Bob Owens and Chris Frazier get their "5 Minutes" ... let's go to the ring!
Bob Owens versus Chris Frazier
Yeah ... these two again but this time only half the time alloted to them last week. More of the same locking p for control without much by way of offense with the exception of the most basic of early match moves - top wrist lock, armbar, hammer lock, there's a go behind, a reversal ... yeah, more of that and before you know it, there's the bell for the end of the 5 minutes and the match.
It's over already? Yup! This time however, it is a bewildered Bob Owens asking the referee for the 5 extra minutes of match time. Nope, not gonna happen this time either.
Joe Wheeler sends us to a commercial.
----- COMMERCIAL BREAK -----
Back from the break, we find Bob Owens now backstage with Boni Blackstone. She talks briefly about the match , mentioning that both appear to be SO evenly match, they seem to have an answer to whatever is thrown at either man. Owens can't believe it either. He was sure that this time around he had Chris Frazier's number BUT vows that some way, some day he WILL pin Chris Frazier for the 1! 2! 3! Boni throws it back to Wheeler and our next match..
The Shadow versus "The Wizard" Joe Cagle
Cagle, complete with magic wand threatens the youngsters ringside, promising to turn them into toads before entering the ring for his match against "the masked guy". Surprise, surprise as the masked guy comes out fired up, throwing Cagle around the ring in the early going. First complaining to the referee then retrieving his magic wand, Cagle is able to buy himself a breather. Looks like the Shadow's blown his juice as Cagle takes over this time around. Probably could have finished up a little sooner but jawing with the booing fans takes up some of his time. Nothing fancy as a scoop slam sets him up for an elbow drop off the middle rope allows for the victory.
More threats for the fans by Cagle and Joe Wheeler reminds everyone to tune in next week for more NWA-Chattanooga's Championship TV Wrestling!
