CIVIC CENTER
ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA
Taped for New Japan Pro Wrestling TV:
IWGP Jr. Heavyweight champion HIROSHI HASE battles “THE BRITISH BRUISER” JOHNNY SMITH to a time limit DRAW at the 20-minute mark.
HANDICAP MATCH:
NORD THE VIKING (w/ General Skandor Akbar) defeats RICKY RICE & DERRICK DUKES after slamming Dukes on top of Rice, then delivering a huge Legdrop off the ropes, onto both men, and then pinned them.
JIMMY “SUPERFLY” SNUKA beats THE CUBAN ASSASSIN by pinfall following the Superfly Splash.
Taped for New Japan Pro Wrestling TV:
MR. SAITO & BIG VAN VADER (w/General Skandor Akbar) defeat ANTONIO INOKI & TATSUMI FUJINAMI. Saito and Vader had their hands full with Inoki and IWGP champion Fujinami, the two biggest stars in New Japan Pro Wrestling. In the end, as Saito and Inoki brawled outside the ring, Vader hoisted Fujinami up and dropped him, back-first to the mat, with a release Powerbomb! The referee could’ve counted to 100, as Vader placed a foot on Fujinami’s chest for the pinfall. One has to assume that Vader’s domination of the reigning IWGP champion Fujinami will move him to the front of the line for a shot at the belt the next time he tours NJPW.
ICEMAN PARSONS pins “PLAYBOY” BUDDY ROSE after whipping Rose into the ropes, and delivering the Butt Butt.
AWA World Tag Team champions DICK SLATER & OLE ANDERSON defeat THE ISLANDERS: HAKU & TAMA (w/ Capt. Lou Albano). At the end of this hard-hitting match, Ole Anderson has Tama covered after a kneedrop from the second rope, however Albano distracts the referee, and Haku comes in, delivers a falling headbutt on Ole, and then rolls Tama on top of Ole. Dick Slater isn’t about to let that stand, and before the referee turns back around, Slater comes in and rolls Anderson back on top of Tama, just as the referee turns around, and makes the 3-count! Albano is livid, telling the referee that Tama had Ole pinned but Slater put his partner on top of Tama. The ref didn’t see it, and ignores Albano, as Slater pulls his groggy partner to his feet and hands him one of the belts as the ref raises their arms.
ST. PAUL STREETFIGHT:
“DR. DEATH” STEVE WILLIAMS & SGT. SLAUGHTER & TERRY TAYLOR defeat “RAVISHING” RICK RUDE & BUTCH REED & MATT BORNE (w/ Percival Pringle III). The fans in attendance are treated to a wild, out of control brawl here. The wrestlers come to the ring in their “streetfighting” clothes, and don’t have to tag in or out, which results in wrestlers brawling all over the place, in and out of the ring! Late in the match, all six participants have been busted open and are bleeding heavily. The end comes when Rick Rude holds Steve Williams, and Matt Borne, who has removed his boot, goes to hit Williams . . . but Williams ducks and Borne clobbers Rude with the boot! At that point, Sgt. Slaughter, who was on the floor, grabs Borne’s leg, trips him, and pulls him out of the ring, while Williams covers Rude for the 1, 2, 3!
Steve Williams has once again pinned the AWA World heavyweight champion!
