McMahon, “We have a great show for you today. Tony Atlas takes on the Earthquake. We will also talk with Roddy Piper, a man hot on the trail of, the WWF Champion, Ted DiBiase. Let’s go to Howard Finkel.”
Match #1
Brooklyn Brawler vs. Brutus Beefcake
Brutus struts around the ring. The Brawler jumps him before the bell. He pounds away at Beefcake, and the fan favorite is in trouble. Beefcake starts to rally. He fights back, and now the momentum is on his side. Beefcake slaps on the sleeper, and the Brawler is out. Brutus pulls out the scissors and cuts off some of the Brawler’s locks.

Winner-Jake Roberts
Sean Mooney is seated in front of a “Royal Rumble” banner.
Mooney, “Welcome to the ‘Royal Rumble Control Center’. On Sunday night, January 22, the World Wrestling Federation presents the Royal Rumble, live on the USA Network. The Royal Rumble is a unique concept. Two wrestlers will begin in the ring. Every two minutes, a new wrestler will enter. The only way to be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope, and to the floor. The man who remains will be the winner. This may be the most dangerous match in wrestling. Today, we can announce the first five participants. They are,
Bret Hart
Tony Atlas
Nikolai Volkoff
The Earthquake
And this man returns to the WWF,
We see Billy Jack Haynes astride a horse.
Haynes, “I’m coming back to the WWF. I’m older, stronger, and wiser. I’’m coming to make a name for myself.”
Billy Jack Haynes will be in the Royal Rumble. There will also be several singles matches that night. The First will be a tag team match between the Nasty Boys, and this team.
We see Kevin and Kerry Von Erich.
Kevin, “We came to the WWF to wrestle the best, and to win titles. The Nasty Boys are in our path.”
Kerry, “The WWF fans have been great, and like Kev said, we want to be the best. It starts with the Nasty Boys!”
Kevin and Kerry Von Erich are the hottest Tag Team in wrestling, but the Nasty Boys are great as well. It will be a fantastic match. Stay tuned in the coming days for more information about the Royal Rumble!”
Match #3
The Hart Foundation w/Jimmy Hart vs. S.D. Jones and Dusty Wolfe

S.D. Tags in Wolfe, but Dusty is no match for Bret. The Foundation uses the Hart attack for the win.
Winners-The Hart Foundation
Match #4
Nikolai Volkoff w/Slick vs. Barry Horowitz
Volkoff begins by singing the Soviet National Anthem. The crowd boos loudly. Horowitz is a very good wrestler, but Volkoff is too much. He hammers away, and Barry is in trouble. Nikolai gets him up in the backbreaker, and Horowitz quickly submits.
Winner-Nikolai Volkoff
“Mean” Gene Okerlund is with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.
Okerlund, “With is ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper! Roddy, you are hot on the trail of the Million Dollar Man, but so is Randy Savage. DiBiase has to be looking over both shoulders.”
Piper, “Listen Gene Okerlund, ‘Hot Rod’ don’t respect a whole lot of people, but the ‘Macho Man’ is one guy I do respect. Why he hides behind Elizabeth sometimes? I can’t figure that out, but he’s a good wrestler. DiBiase, the ‘Million Excuse Man’, I don’t respect him. He treats Virgil like a slave, Virgil’s a great athlete, not a go-fer. I don't like nobody that treats people like that! DiBiase, I’m coming after you, and I’m going to get there before Savage does!”
Okerlund, “‘The Million Dollar Man’ better have eyes in the back of his head.”
Match #5
Roddy Piper vs. Joe Mirto
“The Rowdy ”Scot” goes right after Mirto. The crowd is behind Roddy as he works over his opponent. Piper is not a skilled wrestler, but he can fight. He works over Mirto and finishes things with the sleeper.
Winner-Roddy Piper
Match #6
The Earthquake w/Jimmy Hart vs. Tony Atlas
The giant Earthquake comes to the ring. Atlas is strong, but is he this strong? Atlas uses his speed to control the early moments of action. He makes a mistake when he tries to scoop up the big man. He fails, and seems to injure his back. Now the big Canadian has the edge. He hammers away at Tony. Atlas mounts a brief comeback, but Earthquake is too much. He lands the Earthquake splash for the win.
Winner-The Earthquake
Vince McMahon, and Jesse Ventura, close the show.
McMahon, “Jesse, the Earthquake looks unstoppable.”
Ventura, “Jimmy Hart has another winner in his family.”
McMahon, “Speaking of winners, Randy Savage, and the lovely Elizabeth, will be here next week. Savage will face Bam Bam Bigelow!”
Ventura, “I like the ‘Macho Man’, but Bam Bam is a stiff test.”
McMahon, “We will also have more information about the ‘Royal Rumble’, don’t miss it!”
