Milt Avruskin: ‘Hello and welcome to the Paul Sauvé Arena here in Montreal for the return of International Wrestling! That’s right, International Wrestling is back on your TV screens every Saturday night. I’m Milt Avruskin and joining me is the great Pat Patterson! Pat, so great to see you!’
Pat Patterson: ‘I’m so excited, Milt! It’s a new era for International Wrestling.’
Milt Avruskin: ‘Each week here on International Wrestling we’ll bring you the Canadian Heavyweight Champion Dino Bravo, joining us in the ring right now. Of course we will also have the International Tag Team Champions Armand and Raymond Rougeau, who will be in action next week. Right now, we have some very distinguished guests with us!’
Pat Patterson: ‘Un-believe-able, Milt. They are absolutely going banana here Montreal! These men, you sure know ‘em! We have da’ Canadian Heavyweight Champion Dino Bravo, as you mentioned. We have da’ former AWA World Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel and - returning here to Quebec - da’ former United States Champion Ronnie Garvin! Da’ man to my right needs no introduction, da’ legendary Edouard Carpentier.’
Milt Avruskin: ‘Mr. Carpentier, what a pleasure to have you here! We know you have a major announcement regarding these men, and three others! They will compete in the International Heavyweight Title tournament.’
Edouard Carpentier: ‘That’s exactly right, Milt. Two weeks from tonight, we will be live from the Montreal Forum when eight wrestlers compete for the International Heavyweight Title. You have the three men in the ring - Mr. Bravo, Mr. Martel and Mr. Garvin. We’ll also have Jacques Rougeau, who is getting ready for our next match at the moment. The former Canadian Champion Leo Burke is also in there, and so is…’
Music begins blaring over the PA at this point before Edouard Carpentier can finish his sentence:
THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS ARE HERE IN MONTREAL!
Milt Avruskin: ‘You’ve seen the TV commercials announcing their arrival. They’re here now! Together they are the Fabulous Freebirds, Michael P.S. Hayes, Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts. Gentlemen, this a bit earlier than we expected you!’
Michael P.S. Hayes: ‘Listen poindexter, the first thing you’re gonna have to learn is that the Freebirds do what we want, when we want! Now I know you’re used to the Rougeaus, the Bravos, the Martels and the Garvins all calling the shots around here - that ends now! Freebird Fantasia is on the loose and this is Freebird country now. You understand?’
Milt Avruskin: ‘Whatever you say, Michael! Now, why are you out here?’
Michael P.S. Hayes: ‘We’re out here because we don’t need to let this old man Carpentier have the pleasure of announcing the next International Heavyweight Champion. The final man in your little tournament is my big brother, 285 pounds of romping, stomping graveyard destruction Terry ‘Bamm Bamm’ Gordy! Now if you Canucks knew what’s best for you, you’d all forfeit right now and save yourself a beating from Bamm Bamm!’
Rick Martel steps up and asks for Gino Brito’s microphone.
Rick Martel: ‘You have a big mouth, Hayes. Can you back it up - or does the big man do you’re fighting for you? If you got the guts, how you about the three of you against myself, Dino and Ronnie here tonight? Do you have the guts?'
Ronnie Garvin raises an eyebrow as Dino Bravo motions for the Freebirds to bring it on.
Michael P.S. Hayes: ‘For an ex world champion, you ain’t go no brains, Martel! The Freebirds never turn down a fight, so you’re in. Right here tonight, we embarrass you in front of these Frenchies you love so much! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!’
All six men start to square off but Milt Avruskin, Gino Brito and Edouard Carpentier step in between them.
Milt Avruskin: ‘Save it for the match, gentlemen! Right now, let’s take a brief break and then we’ll be back with the great Jacques Rougeau.’

Milt Avruskin: ‘There you see him fans, Jacques Rougeau of the legendary Rougeau wrestling family. He will be one of eight man competing for the International Heavyweight Title. However, he has his work cut out for him here tonight with ‘Mad Dog’ Frenchy Martin.’
JACQUES ROUGEAU V/S FRENCHY ‘MAD DOG’ MARTIN
The popular Rougeau brother signs some autographs before the match. Frenchy Martin proves he’s a wily veteran as he bends every rule possible, seeming to frustrate Jacques Rougeau on several occasions. After about seven minutes, Rougeau seems to really turn it on and he goes right after Martin with a vengeance.
Frenchy Martin is shot off the ropes and Rougeau catches him with a dropkick to the kisser. Jacques now climbs to the top rope and he takes aim. Rougeau dives off and connects with the flying elbow drop across the chest. The cover here and Jacques Rougeau gets the three count.
WINNER: JACQUES ROUGEAU
Milt Avruskin: ‘Jacques Rougeau, what a victory! You obviously have your eyes on that prize going into the International Heavyweight Championship tournament two weeks from tonight!’
Jacques Rougeau: ‘That’s exactly right, Milt. All due respect to Ricky Martel, Dino Bravo, Leo Burke… even Ronnie Garvin, I am training harder than ever in my life and I’m ready to go the distance in three matches at the Montreal Forum. As for these Fabulous Freebirds, we’ve heard the same from the likes of the Masked Superstar, Nick Bockwinkel, and so many others over the years. The end is always the same, we French Canadian boys end up kicking your butts back to the states!’
Milt Avruskin: ‘Strong words from Jacques Rougeau! We’ll be back with… oh no… Eddie ‘The Brain’ Creatchman!

Milt Avruskin: ‘There you see him, Eddie Creatchman. He has collected his most dangerous stable of monsters ever. In future weeks you’ll meet the The Great Samu and the One Man Gang, but take a look at this man in the ring with him now. He’s the man known as the Ugandan Giant, this is Kamala!’
KAMALA (W/ EDDIE CREATCHMAN & FRIDAY) V/S MASKED MARVEL
This massive Ugandan Giant is utterly terrifying as he completely no-sells every offensive move from the Masked Marvel. Kamala levels Marvel with a headbutt and then a series of chops send the masked man into the corner. Kamala challenges with a big splash into the corner and then slams Marvel into the corner, hits the ropes and squashes him with a big splash across the back. Eddie Creatchman and Friday have to motion for Kamala to turn over Masked Marvel, and he finally does to score a pin-fall.
WINNER: KAMALA
Milt Avruskin: ‘Now Eddie ‘The Brain’ Creatchman, if we’re going to do this interview, I want you to keep this Ugandan Giant under control.’
Kamala lets out a shriek and then begins slapping his belly as Friday tries to keep him calm.
Eddie Creatchman: ‘First of all, it’s Mr. Creatchman to you, you bum! The Brain is back Quebec! I have my Kamala, I have my One Man Gang, I have my Samu! Nobody can stop 'em! Nobody can stop me! You hear me? By da’ time I’m finished, I will run every other wrestler out of Quebec and da' rest of Canada too!’
Milt Avruskin: ‘With all due respect, Mister Creatchman, I have to ask you this. How can anyone believe that you or any man can keep this monster Kamala under control?’
Eddie Creatchman: ‘You better pray I can, you bum! I say this - Edouard Carpentier. One man isn’t enough for Kamala! You give him two men, three men, four men at one! He’ll destroy ‘em! You heard me, Carpentier?’
Milt Avruskin: ‘I’m sure he does, Mister Creatchman. For my own sake, I’m getting outta here. We’ll be right back!’

TV MAIN EVENT
DINO BRAVO, RICK MARTEL & RONNIE GARVIN V/S THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS
The star-power in this ring is out of control right now. Once the bell actually rings, Buddy Roberts does his usual bit and bounces around like a pinball for Martel and Bravo in the opening minutes. Michael Hayes gets the tag, stomps into the ring, sizes up the much larger Canadian Heavyweight Champion Dino Bravo and immediately tags right back out to Terry Gordy.
Bamm Bamm goes toe-to-toe with Dino Bravo for a few minutes, rocking him with a big boot and then a huge leg drop across the chest. Gordy goes for the cover, but potentially a huge mistake by pulling the Canadian Heavyweight Champion up at two. Gordy with a big knee drop and then drops Bravo with a running shoulder-block. Now Michael Hayes tags in and stomps on Bravo a bit, but gets a shot to the gut when he tries to pull the champion up.
Michael Hayes is doubled over for a second and then tags right back out to Terry Gordy. Bravo leaps into his corner and tags in Ricky Martel, who is in like a house on fire with right hands for both Gordy and Hayes. Martel then grabs Gordy and Buddy Roberts and cracks their heads together. Rick Martel shoots Gordy off the ropes and connects with a cross-body block for a close two count.
Rick Martel heads over to his corner and makes the tag to Ronnie Garvin, who enters the match for the first time here. Garvin steps into the ropes, looks over at Gordy and then swings around and drills his own Rick Martel with one of his patented hands of stone! Down goes Rick Martel and then Ronnie starts pounding away with the Garvin Stomp! Dino Bravo is up now and he charges into the ring and shoves Garvin, who stares at him blankly, hops out to the floor and takes off to the dressing room! What the heck was that about?
Rick Martel is knocked out cold in the ring. Dino Bravo tries to wake his partner up, only to get a big knee across the back from Terry Gordy. Gordy now climbs up to the second rope, dives off with the flying knee and makes the cover on the unconscious Martel for the three count! The Fabulous Freebirds get the win here and now they’re circling Dino Bravo. The Canadian Heavyweight Champion is out-numbered 3-on-1 here. Hold on, not so fast Freebirds!
IT’S JACQUES ROUGEAU AND HIS BROTHERS ARMAND AND RAYMOND IN STREET CLOTHES!
Now it’s the Freebirds are out-numbered so Michael P.S. Hayes calls his brothers off, despite the fact that Gordy and Roberts are itching to get a piece of the Rougeaus and Bravo. The camera pans in on Rick Martel, who is thankfully conscious again but still down on the canvas as his friends rally around him.
WINNERS: THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS
Milt Avruskin: ‘What on earth has got into Ronnie Garvin?’
Pat Patterson: ‘I dunno what ‘dis guy’s problem is but I guess we should’ve seen something like ‘dis coming given his past!’
Milt Avruskin: ‘Fans, we’re all out of time for this edition of International Wrestling! What an action-packed hour and it’s only week one! Hopefully next week we’ll have an update on Ricky Martel, plus remember, it will be International Tag Team Champions Armand and Raymond Rougeau against The Long Riders! Don’t miss it - be there!’
