Bockwinkle Retains Belt; Muraco Furious
Honolulu Star Advertiser
By Kay Fabien
Don Muraco once again challenged Nick Bockwinkle for the Pacific Heavyweight Championship this past Friday night, and once again he walked away without winning the title. The two met this time in a best 2 out of 3 falls bout for the championship. Muraco took the first fall at 14:03 with a sunset flip on the champion. Bockwinkle claimed the second fall at 21:26 when he scooped Muraco's legs from under him and pinned him in a rollup move with his own feet on the ropes for leverage. The third and deciding fall ended at 30:34 when champion Bockwinkle was counted out. He apparently decided he had had enough of the encounter and purposely took the count out loss, but retained his title. After the bout, a furious Muraco requested that promoter David McLane come to the ring. He asked for McLane to make another match between him and Bockwinkle, and requested that the bout take place inside of a steel cage so there will be a definite winner, and no count outs. McLane was able to agree to Muraco's request, and announced that that match will take place next Friday night at the Blaisdale Center, and it will be for the Pacific Heavyweight Championship.
